How to build a greenhouse from old window frames with your own hands. Building a simple greenhouse from old window frames

How many necessary things people just throw in a landfill, not understanding the value of some things. Take at least the old ones car tires- of them you can make a remarkably beautiful one with your own hands flower bed, it was written about it in the article β€œβ€œ.

Today in the store you can find a large assortment of greenhouses for your backyard economy, but their prices are not the most democratic. Not every gardener can afford such a luxury.

Nowadays, many people change the wooden frames of houses for new ones - plastic. Old frames are usually thrown into landfills without realizing what a valuable building material it is! Of the old window frames you can easily make an excellent greenhouse for your site with your own hands. In terms of its qualities, it will in no way be inferior to polycarbonate bought in the store. In this article, we will tell you how to make a greenhouse out of frames with your own hands.

The greenhouse is very useful tool for successful cultivation vegetables. You can plant seedlings in the greenhouse when a stable one has not yet been established on the street. warm temperature air. Glass in old wooden frames ah will help keep the correct air temperature and lighting mode. Ventilation windows, which are built into frames, can serve as ventilation. The construction of such a structure is not very difficult and cheap, it is important to know the steps of the work and have the material on hand.

Frame greenhouse: stages of construction

Before starting the construction of the greenhouse, you need to measure the frames that you have in stock. The fact is that they are often different from each other. Then you need to think carefully about such an option for installing frames, which will be the most optimal. To do this, you will need to fit all the frames. The easiest option is to have frames of the same height and width.

By measuring the width of the frames, you will need to determine how wide the greenhouse will be. Be sure to draw a drawing or at least a diagram of the future greenhouse, this will greatly simplify your work in the future. In the drawing, it will be desirable to indicate the place for the entrance, as well as the location of the beds and passages inside. Usually, they proceed from this calculation: the beds are made 1 meter wide, and the passage is 80-100 centimeters.

Seat selection

You need to be very responsible when choosing a greenhouse location. You need to choose a large, flat piece of land that is well lit sunlight... It should be taken into account that the place is well protected from strong winds in order to protect the future greenhouse from possible drafts.

Shouldn't be around big trees and tall buildings since this will create shading. The greenhouse at the selected location is placed in such a way that it is located from north to south.

Now a few words about the soil. It is best to choose an area with loose soil so that it is not close groundwater and the land was relatively dry. Even soil with a small layer of sand is allowed.

Construction of the foundation

Building a foundation for a greenhouse is very simple, as a greenhouse is a very light construction.

For example, you can dig a shallow trench around the perimeter of the greenhouse and fill it with concrete. Such a foundation is very reliable and will serve you for a long time.

Or you can buy a metal foundation in a store. It is installed only under the most supporting pillars.

The foundation must be level so that everything is level.

Greenhouse frame preparation

Before installing the greenhouse, you must first prepare the frames. It is necessary to remove everything unnecessary from all frames: hinges, handles, etc. Then, using a sandpaper, you should remove the old layer of paint. This is necessary in order for the new layer to lie flat. It is necessary to paint the frames to prevent premature decay of wooden frames.

You can also process frames special means, which scares away rodents.

Frame fabrication

For the future greenhouse, you need to do wooden frame... It is done very simply, according to the drawing. A bar is taken and sawn off to the desired length.

The bars are fastened to each other with nails or screws.

Installation of window frames to the frame

To attach the frames to the frame itself, it is best to use self-tapping screws or screws. This does not mean that they are more reliable than nails. However, when you hammer in nails, there is a chance of breaking the glass.

After installation, you will have several gaps left, they will need to be sealed with polyurethane foam. So there will be no drafts in the greenhouse.

Greenhouse roof

It is best to make the roof of the greenhouse a ridge. This will ensure better water flow. It is better not to use frames for the roof. For these purposes, a lightweight material such as polycarbonate is suitable. On the roof of the greenhouse, it will not cost much.

You can cover the roof with several layers of foil.

The roof must be made in such a way as to ensure an unobstructed flow of water.

After the construction of the greenhouse, all that remains is to equip it inside - to build beds, shelves, racks, etc.

Drawings and diagrams of other greenhouse options

For example, we will give several drawings and diagrams of greenhouses made of window frames. You can take already finished project and do it already.

Specialization: professional in the field of construction and renovation ( full cycle holding finishing works, both indoor and outdoor, from sewerage to electrics and finishing works), installation window structures... Hobby: see the column "SPECIALIZATION AND SKILLS"

In this article I will tell you how to build a greenhouse from window frames. This task is quite laborious, especially if we want to get not a temporary greenhouse, but a permanent structure, but the result is worth it. Reusing old frames makes it possible to significantly save on greenhouse glazing, so it's definitely worth tinkering.

Such structures can be erected according to the most different schemes, so here I will describe the general principles of construction, tested in practice. Having figured out what's what, you can make adjustments to the algorithm proposed by me in accordance with your wishes for the final result.

Preparatory work

Stage 1. Foundation

A greenhouse from window frames is assembled according to the principle of a constructor, and the most difficult moment there will be a search for the frames themselves. As a rule, the construction begins after overhaul country house when multiple windows appear after replacement.

After all, it's a pity to throw it away, but I want to attach it to some business. But, alas, for a sufficiently large structure, this amount is not enough, therefore you have to walk around the neighbors and beg, exchange or buy unnecessary windows.

There are several options for arranging the base for a greenhouse from frames, and I will characterize them in the table below:

Material Peculiarities
Wood The easiest way to give the greenhouse the desired shape and evenly distribute the load on the ground is to install it on a base made of wooden beams... A strapping made of a thick timber impregnated with mastic is laid on the surface or slightly deepened, and a frame for glazing is already formed on it.

The operational properties of such a base are satisfactory, but over time, even wood treated with a moisture-proof composition loses its strength. So the replacement of the beams (and hence the complete reconstruction of the greenhouse) should be carried out at least once every 5-7 years.

Brick A columnar or striped brick base is a good option in terms of strength and durability. Brickwork, folded according to all the rules, withstands a significant load, in addition, it also serves as additional thermal insulation in the ground layer of the greenhouse.

The downside is the high cost of high-quality building stone - however, in order to save money, you can also use used bricks.

Concrete Tape concrete foundation or a columnar structure made of concrete blocks - the ideal base for a permanent greenhouse. A concrete strip or blocks reinforced with a steel bar can withstand significant loads, while waterproofing underground parts with roofing felt or mastic effectively protects concrete from destruction under the influence of moisture.

The disadvantages of this solution include the significant labor intensity of the arrangement and serious financial costs.

Having decided to make such a greenhouse with my own hands, I settled on a combined version:

  1. First, I removed the layer from the site fertile soil to a depth of about 30 cm. The soil was folded separately and then used to form the beds.
  2. On the leveled area, he marked the foundation of the future greenhouse and dug trenches 50 cm deep and 40 cm wide.
  3. At the bottom of each trench, he poured sand with a layer of 10 cm and carefully compacted the pillow.
  4. I installed the formwork from old boards, lined it with dense polyethylene and filled it strip base made of concrete. Instead of reinforcement with a steel bar, he added broken stone to the solution.
  5. After the initial polymerization of the concrete, he removed the formwork and covered the foundation with polyethylene to avoid drying out.
  1. In my case, a beam laid on a concrete foundation played the role of the lower strapping. On the sides, I sheathed it with boards in such a way that they protrude at least 100 mm above the timber.
  1. At the corners, I installed racks from a bar with a section of 50x50 mm. The supports were fixed with self-tapping screws, pulling them to the boards of the lower strapping.
  2. The upper harness was made of the same timber, fixing it on the supports.

I needed a small greenhouse, so I did not put additional supports and reinforcing crossbars. If you need a structure large sizes, then it is worth building all the necessary drawings and see where it will be possible to strengthen the structure with racks, struts, etc.

Stage 3. Roof

Much more often the roof is covered with either cellular polycarbonate, or plastic wrap- so the load on rafter system will be much lower.

It was the last option that I chose:

  1. I cut out rafters from a 100x25 mm board. At the bottom of each rafter leg made a selection for the upper harness.
  2. I connected the rafters in pairs, and then fastened them to the ridge beam.
  3. On the rafters, x fixed the frame for the opening window.
  4. The resulting roof frame, with the help of two assistants, was lifted onto the greenhouse frame, installed on the upper strapping and secured to the rafters with metal overhead plates.
  1. From above, I covered the roof with a light-stabilized film (both slopes and gables), leaving only the opening for the vents open.

The disadvantage of a tattered roof is obvious: the film does not differ in mechanical strength, and it is almost guaranteed that it will have to be changed in two to three years.

On the other hand, the cost of arranging the roof will be minimal, and the lower (compared to glass or polycarbonate) polyethylene transparency is compensated for by additional lighting penetrating through the walls from the window frames.

Assembling the greenhouse

Stage 4. Installation of frames

Now our construction is approaching the final stages: we need to install window frames, hang doors and vents, and also equip the room from the inside.

Let's start the description with the installation of frames:

  1. Old window frames must be prepared prior to installation on the frame. This preparation consists in dismantling the hinges and locking elements, eliminating the most obvious damage, replacing broken glass, etc.

It is worth changing the glass after the installation is completed: this way there is less risk of breaking a new window during installation.

  1. We begin to mount the products from the corner. We put the first window near the vertical support on the lower one, align it and fix it to the frame using metal overlays.
  2. We install the following structures with minimal gaps, connecting with steel plates on self-tapping screws.
  1. If the greenhouse (well, suddenly you are so lucky!) Is going from plastic windows, then it is best to join individual structures using a balcony connector. It is inexpensive, it is simply attached (the projections snap into the grooves of the adjacent frames), but it provides a very strong fixation.
  2. After installing all the frames, fill the gaps between them with polyurethane foam.
  3. Outside, we fill a thin wooden plank on each slot - it will not only help to minimize heat loss, but also serve as an additional stiffener.

Everything is clear with the first row of frames, but this way the height of the structure will be no more than 1400 - 1600 mm. If you want to make the greenhouse taller, it is best to tighten the distance between the top edge of the row of installed frames and the top strapping with plastic wrap.

I would not put the second row of frames (albeit laying them on their side) - the base turns out to be too unstable.

Stage 5. Doors and vents

It is not enough to build a greenhouse - you need to equip it in such a way as to provide an optimal microclimate for plants. And if in terms of heat everything depends on the tightness of the case, then ventilation needs to be thought about separately.

The door to ensure the flow fresh air in the greenhouse room practically does not play a role. That is why I use the most simple design on a wooden frame covered with several layers of polyethylene. I fix it on ordinary hinges and equip it with a simple lock that keeps door leaf closed.

It is much more important that the greenhouse has efficiently working vents. It would seem that the answer to the question of how to make a window in a greenhouse is extremely simple - take and use any of the vents on the frames that now make up the walls.

But the fact is that such windows will have to be opened and closed independently, depending on the temperature inside the greenhouse - and this is quite troublesome, and there is always a risk of missing the right moment.

An automatic window that opens and closes depending on the temperature does not have these disadvantages. The easiest way is to equip it with a special hydraulic cylinder, but the price of such a device may seem too high to many.

Therefore, in this section I will tell you how to make a structure with similar functionality with your own hands from available tools:

  1. I take a ready-made small sash or make it from a profiled bar. I install axial hinges on the frame so that the sash rotates around a horizontal axis, and in a vertical (or inclined, if we make a structure on one of the roof slopes) position is completely closed.
  2. Outside, I attach the vents to the lower crossbar wooden block- it will act as a load for automatic closing.
  3. I fill the jar with liquid (I use antifreeze, but you can also take water) by about 40% and seal it tightly. I install a thin tube into the lid.
  4. I securely fix the container with antifreeze and a tube under the ridge of the greenhouse.
  5. I also close the second jar (of a smaller volume) with a lid with a tube. I make a hole in the lid with a diameter of 3 mm for air access. I fill the jar with antifreeze so that the lower edge of the tube is submerged by about 10-12 mm.
  6. Self-made automatic window: 1) counterweight; 2) frame; 3) limiter; 4) suspension for smaller capacity

Self-opening windows in the greenhouse work according to the following scheme:

    1. As the temperature rises, the liquid from the upper container will evaporate and flow through the hose into the lower container. Besides. Will play the role of increasing pressure when expanding antifreeze.
    2. Due to this, the weight acting on the upper crossbar of the window will increase, and the window will open, letting in fresh air.
    3. When the temperature drops, the opposite process will be observed: the liquid will be drawn into the upper (sealed) container, and the window will close under its own weight.

Before making such a structure the basis of the whole ventilation system, it must be adjusted by selecting the optimal volumes of fluid for reliable operation of the system.

Actually, the arrangement of the greenhouse does not end there: you need to lay inside the garden bed, lay paths, if this is provided for by the project, install additional heating. But in any case, the design turns out to be quite reliable and functional!

    Conclusion

A do-it-yourself greenhouse from old window frames can be created even by those gardeners who previously had nothing to do with construction and design. Its design is quite simple, and therefore, after reading the recommendations in the text and studying the video in this article, you can assemble this structure quickly and at relatively low cost.

If you are interested in this idea, then all the questions that arise can be asked in the comments below: if I can, I will definitely advise something sensible!

A greenhouse is a great option for organizing healthy eating all family. And who will take care of him, no matter how her head? The use of a greenhouse on the site makes it possible to grow fresh vegetables and greenery almost all year round, it creates a microclimate necessary for plants, which contributes to their growth.

Window frame greenhouses: why are they good

For a long time, greenhouses made of window frames have become popular, which are easy to design with your own hands. The material is very affordable, therefore, it is quite a profitable option to acquire a greenhouse.

Wood is durable and durable material which at proper care can serve for a long time. High-quality processing and care makes the tree not vulnerable to the effects of precipitation and sun rays... In addition, natural wood is a breathable material, which is important in the construction of a greenhouse. Glass transmits light well and protects the greenhouse space from the penetration of cold air.

The good thing about a greenhouse made of window frames is that you can perform any ventilation in it (if the frames are with working vents), regardless of the front door.

Benefits of window frame greenhouses

Several positive aspects of using a window frame greenhouse:

  • Profitability. She excuses herself by the fact that the purchase building materials significantly less financial costs are required than for other types of greenhouses.
  • Practicality. Window frames are practical in that, as a rule, they are already covered with all the necessary protective layers paints and other mixtures, so they are reliably protected from natural influences.
  • Environmental friendliness. Wood - natural material which is the most harmonious for the greenhouse.
  • The durability depends on the type of wood from which the frames are made. On average, the service life of a greenhouse made of window frames is no more than 5 years, although this also depends on climatic zone and also - from leaving.
  • Heat capacity. No matter how old the window structures are, they perfectly retain heat. Thanks to the unhindered penetration of sunlight into the greenhouse from the window frames, it warms up naturally.
  • Good lighting. Glasses have a high light transmittance, which makes it possible for the sun to illuminate the greenhouse space as well as open-air beds.

If the crops grown are very capricious in relation to ultraviolet light, it is better to stick on the greenhouse windows with inside tinted film.

  • Strength. Natural wood itself is a very durable material. And the processing of raw materials before use only increases this property.

If you have received window frames without glass, you can use instead cellular polycarbonate- there will be practically no difference in characteristics. You can also use polyethylene.

Building a greenhouse from window frames: preparatory work

Before you build a greenhouse on the site from window frames with your own hands, you need to prepare:

  1. Choosing a place. in the sunniest place of the site, not covered by trees and buildings.
  2. Soil selection. The soil on which the crops are grown should not have a clay layer. If there is no such soil on your site, they prepare it yourself for the greenhouse. A pit is dug over the entire area of the greenhouse, deep into the bayonet of a shovel or a little more. The soil "cake" consists of gravel, sand and soil cleared of roots, stones and weeds.
  3. ... Its detailed compilation, taking into account all the parameters, makes it possible to accurately calculate the amount of materials required for the construction and avoid mistakes during its construction. If you have window frames different sizes, thanks to the drawing, you can draw up a preliminary diagram of their placement, which will greatly facilitate the assembly of the structure.
  4. Preparation of window frames. If you plan to use old frames (most often it is from them that greenhouses are erected), then before installation they should be carefully inspected for damage. From old frames, you need to remove all accessories, glass (for safety) and old paint, rotten elements should be replaced with new ones. Then the wood is treated with antiseptics, the opening elements of the frames that are not planned to be used are fixed with self-tapping screws or sealed with a sealant, the frames are painted.

Walling

When the foundation is ready, you can start building the walls.

  • Frame. Before installing window frames, it is necessary to build a frame, the volume of which is formed by vertical posts. For the frame, boards are used, the thickness of which is equal to the thickness of the frames; they should be fixed according to the drawn up drawing. Such docks will still be needed to install the harnesses.
  • Installation of frames. The frames are attached to the uprights with the long side using self-tapping screws. The resulting gaps can be foamed, but polyurethane foam tends to collapse under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, therefore it is better to use silicone or other substance for these purposes. From the inside to the frames for greater stability, you can attach supports from a small section bar.

Roofing device

The roof type is selected at the planning and drawing stage. If the frames are not enough for gable roof, you can make a lean-to. Frames are attached in a standard way, just like on the walls. For the ridge of a gable roof, you can use wood or plastic.

Greenhouse glazing

At the last stage of the construction of the greenhouse from the window frames, the previously removed glass is attached with glazing beads.

And what and how he will tell .

In order not to lose the material, be sure to save it to yourself in social network Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, Facebook, just by clicking on the button below.

Far-sighted owners, in order to grow early greens and vegetables, are thinking about how to equip greenhouses. To do this, the most inventive and economical of them choose from a large number building materials are those that literally lie under your feet. One of the options for the improvised material used to build a greenhouse with your own hands are old window frames.

Alternative ways of building greenhouses

The simplest type of greenhouse is a covering one. It is a polyethylene film that covers the frame structure.

Practical

To create a frame, a material with a certain strength and flexibility will be required. It could be wire large diameter, pipes or any other version of the material that has the appropriate properties. The frame constructed by bending the blanks is covered with polyethylene, the edges of which are fixed on the ground with a board and covered with earth.

To implement another version of such a structure, you will need an old pallet and boards sheathed with foil. This design has a compact size. Place it near the wall of the building, which is located on sunny side... In this case, the calculation is that at night heat will be transferred from the wall to the greenhouse.

Using polypropylene pipe and films, you can equip a more reliable and practical greenhouse in operation. To assemble it, pipes and corners made of polypropylene are needed. The frame of the required size is obtained by mounting the pipe structure to the corners by welding and gluing. Polypropylene is easy to process, so you can easily assemble a greenhouse of the desired size.

Greenhouse made of polypropylene pipes and film

If you use a pipe of large diameter, then the film can be replaced with sheet polycarbonate. If you give rigidity to the entire structure with special ribs, you get a reliable and durable greenhouse.

A large number of used plastic bottles gave a boost to engineering. For the construction of a greenhouse from such material, a considerable amount of such empty containers will be required. On the mounted frame, a wire or strong thread is pulled in two rows. Between them, bottles are installed in the form of columns, from which the bottom has previously been removed. For greater tightness of the structure, the bottles should be installed with maximum density.

Bottle greenhouse

However, with all the advantages of the described designs, do-it-yourself greenhouses from window frames are leaders in popularity and their qualities.

How to supply construction with blanks?

The seemingly insoluble question of providing the construction site with a sufficient number of old window frames has a simple answer. Moreover, the scale of the problem is exaggerated, since the size of the greenhouse does not require many window structures. The massive transition of residents from wooden frames to modern double-glazed windows determines the availability of the required material near the house. If it is not possible to find old window frames, then you can ask for help from specialists who install double-glazed windows. Most often, used frames are unclaimed.

Old window frames

The process of building a greenhouse from window frames

Site selection

The choice of the construction site depends on the following factors:

  • how well the area is lit;
  • whether there is a shadow from other structures of great height;
  • how protected the site from the wind;
  • location relative to the cardinal points.

The choice of the size of the greenhouse is influenced by:

  • the size of the site;
  • type of crops and their number;
  • dimensions of window frames.
Frame greenhouse

An important factor is the characteristics of the soil. It is undesirable to build a building on a swampy or very wet soil, as the risk of subsidence of the structure increases. For a secure installation of the greenhouse, dry soil with sufficient density is best suited. In addition, the presence of groundwater significantly affects the choice of the construction site. The minimum depth of their occurrence should be at least one and a half meters.

At the same time, it is important to provide for the appropriate height of the room, which allows work in the greenhouse. Having determined the approximate dimensions of the building, the selection of old window structures is made, which makes it possible to clarify the length of the structure.

At the end, a plan is drawn up and the width of the structure is calculated, taking into account the location of the beds and paths that you wish.

Foundation, or base

Due to the fact that the structure has a certain mass, the organization of the base for it is a necessary stage. In order to prevent subsidence or destruction of the greenhouse, as well as to give it strength and reliability, it is installed on the foundation.

There are different options foundation organization:

  • Brick. It is characterized by reliability, but at the same time relatively high cost. At correct installation has sufficient durability. However, when exposed to moisture and temperature extremes, it is prone to destruction.
  • Stone. It is distinguished by its high cost, but at the same time it is extremely reliable. It can withstand the load from a structure of greater mass. Resistant to external factors and has a long service life.
  • Wood. A foundation made of such a material has acceptable strength and stability, but not a long service life. The durability does not exceed 5-8 years. It should be understood that the window frames themselves are likely to last no longer.
  • Concrete. Device strip foundation is optimal for durability, operational characteristics and the cost of construction.

Foundation - the basis of the greenhouse

Preparatory work with frames

Before you build a greenhouse from window frames with your own hands, to simplify the assembly of the structure, as well as increase its strength characteristics, you should carry out preparatory activities... Parts of the frames can become unusable, therefore they must be dismantled or replaced. Preparation means:

  • removal of fittings;
  • removal of old paint;
  • antiseptic treatment;
  • dismantling of glazing in the presence of splinters and other defects;
  • fixing vents that will not be used.

The preparation and layout of the frames must take into account that the greenhouse must have a height of at least 1.7 m.

Floor laying

When arranging the floor, it is important to pre-arrange drainage in order to prevent flooding of the structure and premature failure of its elements. To this end, it is necessary to dig a trench 150 mm deep, and create a cushion of sand and gravel at the bottom of it. If the floor is made of concrete, it is required to create a slope with a slight angle, as well as provide a hole for water drainage.

Correct organization interior space a greenhouse is of great practical and definite aesthetic value. It is advisable to fence the passages with curbs, which can be made of wood or plastic. This will prevent soil from shifting into the passage.

In addition to concrete, you can use the following to organize paths inside the greenhouse:

Making the right frame

To create a greenhouse from frames, it is better to use boards as a frame. Their thickness should be approximately the same as the frames and be 40-50 mm. The boards are connected in such a way that the structure is a strapping. The harness should be at the top and bottom, while it is desirable that the bottom be made up of two rows of boards.

Correct framework

Walling

Installation of vertical racks will make it possible to form the volume of the structure. The frames are attached to the racks along the long side. The existing gaps must be sealed with construction foam... To create a more rigid structure, the frames are fastened from the inside with bars that serve as a support.

The cross-section of these parts can be smaller than that of the material of the main elements.

The vertical supports give greater stability to the structure, which are recommended to be mounted when constructing the frame. They are fixed with cement or by fastening with nails with racks.

In order to avoid drafts, it is imperative to ensure that all gaps are eliminated. The exception is the ventilation vents.

Props

Roof device

Before making a greenhouse out of old window frames, you need to decide on the type of roof. The roof can be made with one or two slopes. To a certain extent, the choice depends on the number of available structural elements... With a limited number of them, you can decide on the construction shed roof, the slope of which should facilitate the unimpeded descent of precipitation.

Under equal conditions, a gable roof is preferable. Pre-prepared and processed blanks from the frames are placed on the upper strapping and nailed to them. After that, a ridge is made of wood or plastic. It is important that the joints are as tight as possible. The occurrence of leaks leads to a violation of the microclimate in the greenhouse, and contributes to the development of mold.

In case of a shortage of blanks from the frames, you can use sheet polycarbonate or a dense film specially designed for the construction of greenhouses.

Greenhouse installation: step by step instructions

A frame greenhouse can survive more than one winter
Long frame greenhouse

Only financial means and thinking allow the summer resident to create certain structures on his site. After all, as a rule, we try to create everything with our own hands. Today we can talk about the creation of such structures as greenhouses, and they will be made from old window frames. This is the most a budget option of all the possible that only can exist. And there is no need to look for materials, as old windows can be found everywhere.

Where to get window frames? It's very simple: in a neighboring house or even an apartment, in a kindergarten, in a school, windows can be changed. Do not waste a chance: you need to take the frames to your garage. At the same time, they will even be grateful to you for the fact that construction garbage(which are the frames) will be removed from the site.

But the availability of building materials alone will not solve the problem. You need to know how to properly make a greenhouse from frames for.

Greenhouse foundation: choosing the right foundation

It is worth noting that the foundation must be fulfilled for the greenhouse. Without it, the structure will collapse. The weight of the frames will be so great that over time, the greenhouse will simply sag.

The highest quality and most reliable material is brick. However, the material is quite expensive. But with long-term operation, it justifies itself perfectly. Excessive moisture can cause the stone to collapse.

Natural stone is also expensive, but can withstand the toughest greenhouse structures. Natural stone can also withstand the most humid environment, which makes it possible to give advantages in the use of this particular material.

Wooden foundation

Wood is also a very durable material, but after five years you will have to change the wooden foundation, which will begin to crumble under the influence of moisture and temperature changes.

Experts assure that the most the best way Is concrete. Such a foundation can serve as long as possible. Of course, you can use absolutely any construction option. It all depends on what financial resources you have.

Structure frame

It is worth noting that the greenhouse itself, made of window frames, is already quite solid. You only need to strengthen it and mount it correctly. For the frame to be strong, it must be firmly reinforced with the base. Window frames are simply connected on the base with each other using corners, screws, studs and other fastening materials. Each person decides for himself what materials for fastening to use. It all depends on the budget.

So, let's look at the most common types of frame mounts.

Corners and self-tapping screws are by right the most reliable. During the installation of the greenhouse, it will only be necessary to supply the greenhouse with high quality and strengthen it on the foundation. Parts of the greenhouse are attached with corners, and then connected together with self-tapping screws. In this way, it is possible to achieve the maximum degree of stability.

You can also set up a greenhouse using wooden nails as well as bars. This option is even simpler than the previous method of connecting structures. Inside, the frames are connected using small section beams.

There is another way that requires a minimum of time and effort. This requires wire and clamps. With the help of a wire, you can wind it on the part of the joint and pull it off with pliers. For tension, plastic clamps are also used, which can be purchased at a hardware store.

Greenhouse installation from old windows

It must be said that any greenhouse design can be created from the frames. The only thing is that you need to assemble everything correctly so that the structure will last a long time. In order for the work to be done efficiently, you need to carry out all the work in stages.

The frame and base are the most important parts of the greenhouse during installation. Fasteners must be selected strong, reliable so that the greenhouse will serve for a long time. There may be connections that require welding.

How to cover a greenhouse with frames

Since the frames themselves are heavy, glass is not recommended. In this case, the weight will increase even more. Glass is used when a small greenhouse is being built. The best option is to cover the greenhouse with plastic wrap. For this, a simple lathing on the top of the structure is used. Once the film is covered over the top of the greenhouse, you can begin to stretch the film.

Once all the work is completed, you need to check their quality. If no flaws are found, then you can start planting various crops. Now on your site at any time of the year you can plant different cultures that can only be grown on the site.
