Clay Bustilat - characteristics and application. Glue "Bustilat": technical characteristics and application

Clay is a material that deserves increased attention, so we were not limited to one part of the article under the general title "Supporting Materials" to talk about.

Today we will talk about this material again, and we will talk about bustilate and his "brothers".

Back in the days of developed socialism in the now defunct country with the name of the USSR, almost every citizen knew what a "bustilat" was. If to the Soviet man it was necessary to glue linoleum or (in Soviet times, few knew), then in the choice of a binding material on which this or that coating would be laid, it was (to put it mildly) limited. Bustilate, which was very popular in those days, served as an alternative to cement mortar. Time has made significant adjustments to the fate of the country, and with the advent of Russian market a huge amount of adhesives, adhesive solutions and mastic bustilat lost its leading position. But the consumer wished that this type of glue not only did not disappear from the shelves of hardware stores, but also found its second life. So what is this "Phoenix bird" of the domestic construction market?

Bustilat is a creamy mass white with a grayish tinge. It is produced on a synthetic basis and includes an adhesive component and various fillers and additives in the form of water, latex, thickener, chalk, etc. roll materials on a fabric basis (and without it), as well. The surfaces with which this material "comes into contact" can be concrete, plastered, wood, and made from different kinds slabs (, DSP). All types of such plates will be discussed in a series of articles specially devoted to them.

If we talk about wallpapering the premises with the "participation" of this glue mixture, it should be noted that before applying to the surface, the glue must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1 part of water to 1.5 parts of the mixture. The preparation of the surface includes not only cleaning it from the remnants of the old coating and dust, but also a primer.

When using busylate in tiling the surface with tiles, the glue should be mixed, then, using a spatula, apply it to the back of the tile and press the coating (wall or floor tiles) to the prepared base.

Linoleum and carpet are glued using a pre-mixed adhesive, applied with a spatula or brush on the prepared floor surface.

Everything that has been said above about this adhesive material refers to the so-called "regular" bustilate... This glue is characterized by "fear of water", and it is advisable to protect the materials laid with its direct participation from moisture.

V Lately new types of bustilate have appeared on the market, possessing such properties as "heat resistance", "frost resistance" and "moisture resistance". Typically, the word "universal" can be read on the label with such a product. It can be applied to virtually any surface. Any and all facing materials can be glued to it.

Along with the universal bustilate, appeared on the shelves and "Bustilat - M"... This glue, just like the one we just talked about, is universal. It contains latex known to us and a number of additives that provide it with adhesive properties and the ability to withstand frost. The main "task" of this adhesive mixture is gluing facing tiles, linoleum and synthetic carpets to almost any surface. It is possible to use this glue for gluing heavy wallpaper, as well as c. Depending on the material to be glued on "Bustilat-M", this glue can be diluted with water and mixed with cement mortar.

On the shelves of hardware stores and on construction markets there is another kind of this auxiliary material - "Bustilat - N"... Like its "brothers", this glue is intended for application to any surface for the purpose of gluing to them various types of tiles, linoleum, which has a background, wallpaper and other finishing materials. This bustilate is characterized by the fact that it can be applied to surfaces. In addition to the adhesive properties, "Bustilat - N" has the properties of a waterproofing material.

"Bustilat - N Extra"... It is used for pasting borders, heavy wallpaper, tiles, linoleum without underlay and various types of carpets. Before wallpapering the walls in "Bustilat - N Extra" water is added to give this glue the required viscosity.

"Bustilat - Super"... Its main purpose is pasting walls different kinds wallpaper (hard, detergent, multilayer), as well as gluing linoleum on a substrate. This adhesive can be applied to all surfaces and has excellent adhesion to them. It is available in several designs. One of them is frost-resistant glue. Such an adhesive material is non-toxic and non-flammable.

"Bustilat - Lux"... This glue is used to glue construction and finishing polymeric materials, which include tiles, some types of wallpaper, linoleum, as well. "Lux" perfectly fits on wooden, concrete and plastered surfaces. It is very popular with joiners and carpenters. Working with such glue is considered to be of little hazard to health, but there is still a fraction of the risk, therefore, when in contact with it, it is better to use known protective equipment... This applies not only to this type of glue. Due to the fact that chemical additives are included in each of the bustilate varieties, precautions when working with these adhesives will be useful.

In the next part of the article, we will talk about which so far we have not paid attention.

How to glue oilcloth on the wall

Oilcloth information

For the manufacture of oilcloth used various materials giving it strength, good resistance to mechanical damage. The components that make up the oilcloth provide excellent environmental friendliness of the coating.

Positive aspects of coverage

Oilcloth does not absorb moisture. Therefore, it can be safely used to decorate walls in the bathroom, kitchen and many other utility rooms.

Due to its heat resistance, the oilcloth can be used for cladding working area kitchen, as the so-called kitchen apron.

The material does not absorb fats and various dirt. It is easy to remove dirt with a soapy solution.

The low price of oilcloth allows you to replace the wall cladding with new material.

A huge assortment of coverings allows you to choose it for any interior style and become a real decoration of the room design.

The disadvantage of oilcloth is the risk of harmful microorganisms: mold, fungus.

Oilcloth for walls

The most popular use of the material is for dining table coverings.

More recently, paper or cloth oilcloths have been commercially available, which have been coated with a layer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for strength. These types of oilcloth were not very durable, had a strong chemical odor, and over time the paint was erased from the drawing.

Using modern the latest technologies materials with the use of synthetic and polyester varnishes appeared, giving the oilcloth brightness, thinness, lightness, and durability. Modern oilcloth has become similar to fabric, and this property allows it to be used for unusual wall decoration.

Application area

  1. Oilcloth with its fancy ornament or pattern, beautiful pattern is able to compete with wallpaper, especially in rooms with high humidity: bathroom, kitchen.
  2. The coating can be used to decorate furniture: finishing shelves, table surfaces and using unusual zippers instead of doors in furniture.

Oilcloth gluing technology

You need to know about the features of pasting with this coating even before you decided to use an oilcloth for wall decoration.

Work order

  1. It follows. To do this, take measurements of the room or kitchen apron. Knowing the length, width, height of the room, you can easily calculate the surface area without taking into account window and doorways and you will be able to determine the length of the oilcloth. Remember that if the coating is with a pattern, then you need to buy it with a margin to fit the pattern, pattern.
  2. Now the surface of the walls should be well prepared. Completely remove the old coating (paint, wallpaper, etc.), clean it of dirt and dust, if necessary, then wash it with a prepared solution: per liter of water 3 tbsp. l. baking soda. After the procedure, the walls must be well dried.
  3. Purchase the estimated amount of oilcloth and glue in the store. For gluing the coating, PVA glue, Bustilat is used. They are diluted with water so they do not stain after drying. Excess glue can be easily removed with a damp cloth. Be sure to check the release date - the glue must be fresh.
  4. Prepare the glue according to the instructions.
  5. The material is cut into the necessary strips, adjusting according to the ornament, pattern. The strips are neatly and, without missing a single section, coated with glue as evenly as possible with a brush or roller, otherwise there will be bubbles. The glue is also applied to the wall, allowed to dry a little, and re-lubricated with the next layer. The strip is glued to the surface, acting in the same way as with wallpaper: press the canvas from the center to the edges, smoothing the oilcloth over the surface, expelling the air.
  6. The next canvas is glued with a slight overlap on the first one, aligning the pattern. The joints are carefully rolled so that they are not visible.
  7. If pasting is done on chalk whitewash, then you should pre-treat the wall with glue so that the whitewash does not move away from the plaster when it dries.
  8. You should start gluing from the corner. To make the joints stick well, paper strips are glued on top of them, smeared wallpaper glue... After the oilcloth is completely dry, the strips are moistened and removed. The top of the cover is secured with a suitable border.
  9. If bubbles form during gluing, carefully cut them sharp knife, release air and smooth.

Operation and care

  • After drying, the surface with the oilcloth should be washed with soapy water at room temperature and wiped dry. Repeat the procedure as soon as it gets dirty.
  • Do not use aggressive detergents containing acids and alkalis to prolong the life of the material.
  • To preserve the brightness and color of the coating, it is recommended to periodically wipe them with a mixture of milk, vinegar, diluted in equal proportions.

Now you imagine how to glue the oilcloth on the wall... With its help, you can get an extraordinary interior of a bathroom or kitchen.

The name "Bustilat" was well known to the residents Soviet Union... One of the most famous adhesives in the USSR for more than half a century of its existence has seen many repairs, where with its help the most different types works: linoleum flooring, tile laying or wallpapering. In the 90s, the Russian market was swept by a wave of domestic and imported adhesive products, which led to a significant decrease in demand for "Bustilat" and its loss of leadership positions. But since interest in this glue remained, the manufacturing companies continued and continue to include it in their product lines. Let's find out what caused the long-term popularity of "Bustilat", as well as its operational properties, pros and cons, nuances of use.

What it is?

The popular synthetic adhesive mixture "Bustilat" was developed more than half a century ago by employees of the Research Institute of Moscow Construction. It is a one-component creamy mass with a latex binder base, the addition of chalk, water, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), which serves as a thickener, and modifying additives to give the final product optimal properties.

In accordance with GOST, its composition does not contain alcohol, toxic impurities and volatile compounds harmful to human health. Most often, the choice in favor of "Bustilat" is made precisely because of its safe composition, which is important to consider when carrying out finishing activities inside the premises.

In the process of repair or decoration, situations often arise when the use of nails, screws or construction staples, for some reason, is unacceptable. In these cases, glue mixtures are rescued, capable of fixing various materials to each other and attaching decorative elements on different types of bases, without violating the integrity of the materials to be joined. Of particular value are multi-purpose adhesives that equally successfully cope with wallpaper joining, floor coverings, tiles and decor. In addition to the widespread polyvinyl acetate (PVA) emulsion, such abilities are also inherent in "Bustilat", which has proven itself to be excellent for linoleum flooring.

The product is indispensable for fixing:

  • synthetic pile coverings;
  • ceramic tiles;
  • linoleum tiles (PVC tiles);
  • linoleum coverings on felt or textile backing;
  • Relina - two-layer wear-resistant rubber linoleum;
  • parquet and parquet boards;
  • carpet;
  • wallpaper;
  • decorative elements made of wood;
  • asbestos-cement products.

High performance properties of "Bustilat" provide an opportunity connections of the listed finishing materials with the following types of surfaces:

  • stone;
  • concrete;
  • brick;
  • wooden;
  • plasterboard;
  • made of fiberboard / particleboard / particleboard boards.

In addition, "Bustilat" is allowed to mount the decor on plaster bases, provided they are inside the premises.

Specifications

Although "Bustilat" is significantly inferior to modern multicomponent formulations in terms of viability, nevertheless it has quite decent performance properties.

Here are the main ones.

  • Appearance. The working mixture has a grayish-white color. When dry, a strong, thin, colorless film is formed. There is no smell.
  • Consumption per m2. Depending on the type of material to be glued, from 80 to 230 g of the mixture can fall on 1 m2, which is considered a relatively small indicator for such adhesives.
  • Curing time. The adhesive layer dries up in a day. It dries most quickly at 20 ° C. Full adhesion to the base occurs in a day and a half.
  • Fire safety. Non-flammable, since there are no alcohols in the composition.
  • Has a long-lasting life cycle, due to which the user has a margin of time to fix minor flaws.
  • Low frost resistance. Since the composition contains water, then at sub-zero temperature begins to freeze. In the frozen state, the mixture becomes immune to cold.
  • The shelf life in a closed industrial container is 1 year, which is 2 times longer than that of PVA. Optimal conditions storage involves placing a hermetically sealed container with glue in a place with a normal relative humidity air and temperature + 10 ° C ... + 30 ° C.

The glue mixture is packed in plastic containers (bottles, cans, buckets) of different sizes: from 1 to 18 kg.

Pros and cons

TO obvious advantages"Bustilata" include:

  • environmentally friendly composition;
  • ease of use: it is combined with almost any materials, which is very convenient, since during repairs you can do with one composition, and not use several specialized tools;
  • high rates of elasticity and excellent adhesive ability, which guarantees the strength of the connection of materials for a long time;
  • low shrinkage and excellent adhesion, ensuring reliable adhesion to natural and artificial materials and the formation of a durable, aesthetic and even seam;
  • multifunctionality: it can be used not only as an adhesive, but also as a primer and as a waterproofing mixture;
  • affordable cost, due to the cheapness of the raw material base and optimization of the production process.

There are no serious flaws in this product. However, if you are looking for a compound with increased durability, then Bustilat does not satisfy this requirement. Therefore, consider more advanced multi-component compositions.

Kinds

Several varieties of "Bustilat" are presented in the lines of modern manufacturers. The difference between them lies in the properties determined by the purpose of a particular type of glue. Let us give brief description major modifications.

  • "M-20". Withstands impact negative temperatures thanks to the composition with frost-resistant additives. Suitable for internal works in rooms without heating. It is good to glue tiles, trellises, pile floor coverings on it. Can be used as a universal primer.
  • "H" This variety was designed to adhere to substrates with low adhesion. This mixture is characterized by increased "stickiness", which is provided by special ingredients in the composition and the presence of waterproofing properties. Baseless linoleum, non-woven wallpaper, synthetic carpets are glued to it.

  • "D Super". This variety is distinguished by increased strength properties, therefore, with its help it is convenient to mount heavy materials, in particular dense wallpaper (washable, multilayer, textured), and fix the linoleum to the base. This type of glue has several versions, among which there is a frost-resistant, non-flammable and non-toxic mixture.
  • "Lux". Polymeric materials are attached to it: polyvinyl chloride film, linoleum, PVC panels (siding), that is, materials with a smooth coating that are difficult to mount using conventional mixtures. Carpenters prefer to work with "Lux", as it fits well on wooden bases. It can also be used to adhere to plastered or concrete surfaces.
  • "Omega". This product is mainly used for the installation of wall and floor coverings with a fabric base (linoleum, carpet, textile tapestries). This mixture preserves the integrity of the structure of materials, due to which their surface remains clean, without yellowness and unaesthetic streaks. The composition can also be used to glue wood.

Stir the mixture well before use to form a homogeneous mass. Any tools are suitable for applying the composition: brushes, rollers, spatulas with teeth, ensuring uniform distribution of the adhesive mass.

  • the surface of the fastened products must be cleaned of dirt and, if necessary, degreased;
  • when the working solution needs to be given a certain viscosity, the amount of added liquid should not exceed 5% of the total mass;
  • because adhesive layer is completely set after three days, then during the indicated period of time it is impossible to load the glued product;

  • in cases of fixing floor coverings (carpet, linoleum, PVC tiles) and installing floors made of relin or baseless linoleum with glue, the base itself is treated with glue; when working with tiles, on the contrary, they cover the tiles, not the walls (the adhesive mass is recommended to be applied with a layer of 3 mm);
  • if it is necessary to increase the adhesion capacity of the base, then it is pre-primed, at the same time creating an unfavorable environment for the development of fungus and mold;
  • the general harmlessness of the mixture is not a reason to neglect the observance of safety measures: to protect skin you need to use gloves, and at the end of the work, do not forget about airing the room, since the dry glue mass smells.

The choice of adhesives of various types is huge and varied. Modern manufacturers offer consumers huge selection products for construction, assembly and finishing works... Despite the wide range of products, Bustilat glue is still in the lead. The product has proven itself with better side due to the excellent technical characteristics, which we will talk about in more detail below.

Product features

This adhesive is based on latex. This component gives the solution elasticity and practicality. The composition also contains chalk, carboxymethyl cellulose, water and special additives for wear resistance, reliability and durability of products.

The glue is made in accordance with strict GOST standards. The product does not contain hazardous and harmful components.

Do not forget that the glue contains water.

Types and areas of use

With the help of the “M” marking, manufacturers designate a product that has excellent resistance to low temperatures. Experts recommend using such compositions for work on the basis of unheated premises, such as utility rooms, sheds.

It is also allowed to be used for decoration. summer cottages that are used at certain times of the year. Recently, glue has often been used as a universal primer.

Composition "D-super" - glue with excellent bond strength. The main purpose of the products is gluing massive and large products: heavy dense wallpaper, skirting boards, decorative elements and much more.

Product "H" is a specially modified formulation. Manufacturers have developed it for bonding materials to substrates with poor adhesion. To achieve this effect, special components were added to the composition. The layer of the composition is characterized by increased adhesion and reliability.

The main feature of the product is that the adhesive remains elastic and flexible after drying. Due to this characteristic, "Bustilat" can be used in areas that are often subjected to dynamic impact.

Glue marked "Omega" is used to fix elements on fabric and felt. This will ensure reliable connection for any basis. The main area of use is laying carpet, linoleum, gluing fabric wallpaper.

Due to the special composition, the product does not penetrate the structure finishing material... Glue stains and streaks do not remain on the surface.

"Bustilat" Lux ", as a rule, is used to combine elements on a polymer basis. The product has become widespread in the installation of PVC panels.

All types of Bustilat glue have individual modifications. When choosing a product, be sure to consider these features.

The price of the products is affordable for the average consumer, and given the popularity and widespread use of glue, it will not be difficult to find it in any specialized store.

The adhesive layer has excellent elasticity. Even with deformation of the glued elements and surfaces, the glue will retain all specifications and most importantly, the bonding properties.

Regardless of where you use the composition, the glue will fulfill its obligations to the fullest. Whether it is wallpaper, tiles or other individual materials, the composition will firmly bond the elements to the base.

Also, glue is often used as a waterproofing or primer.

To appreciate the full range of product advantages, purchase only certified goods. On the Russian market, glue from brand"Lacra". If in doubt about the quality of the product, check with the sellers for certificates.

Significant disadvantages this composition not found, however the product has certain disadvantages. Bustilat cannot be used at sub-zero temperatures, given the fact that there are many adhesives on the market that can tolerate this temperature indicator. During its existence, many improved analogs have appeared on the market, which surpass the product by certain indicators.

Considering the above information, it is safe to say that the Bustilat adhesive is a cost-effective and reliable product with a wide range of applications.

How to use?

For laying linoleum or carpet, the adhesive solution is applied to the floor with a spatula.

Immediately after that, the finishing material is laid on the base. The cladding must be firmly pressed against the base. Upon completion, it is necessary to leave the finish for three days, until the glue is completely dry. Optimal consumption of the composition in in this case ranges from 0.5 to 0.7 kilograms per m2.

Expert advice: You can add to the glue cement mortar... This will help speed up the hardening process of the layer, if it is necessary to carry out the work to the maximum short term... Proportions - 1: 1. To prepare the mixture, it is necessary to mix one part of cement and three parts of sand.

When using an adhesive for laying ceramic tiles, the composition must be carefully applied to reverse side finishing material. Optimal size layer is about 203 millimeters. After that, the tiles must be firmly pressed against the wall and fixed in this position until the glue sets. Full hardening of the glue occurs after three days. At this time, in no case should the finish be influenced. For one square meter from 0.4 to one kilogram of glue is consumed.

"Bustilat" is actively used for the installation of wallpaper from various materials. If the glue thickens over time, thin it slightly. Introduce the seventh part pure water, this is the maximum allowable volume. If the product is fresh, then you do not have to dilute it.

It should be noted that the hardened layer of "Bustilat" cannot be removed using hot water, therefore, washing off old wallpaper and treating the base in this way does not make sense.

The most popular, affordable and effective method- mechanical cleaning, which is carried out with a metal spatula or sharp scraper. You can also use a grinder with a special attachment in the form of a metal brush. This method will help to get rid of the glue residues, but during the work there is a lot of dust and noise. Protect the respiratory tract with a respirator while working.

The second way is to dampen a rag with water and heat the fabric with a hair dryer or iron. Under the influence of temperature, the crust of the layer acquires elasticity. It is an efficient and quiet process, but time consuming.

  • Ventilate the area thoroughly before starting work.
  • The work surface should also be prepared by removing dirt, traces of grease and different compositions... If necessary, a priming procedure is carried out (if the base has a porous structure).
  • Be sure to read the instructions for use of the product. All necessary information is indicated on the packaging.
  • The price of the glue depends on many factors: the manufacturer's margin, the percentage of the store, the type of composition. The minimum price for a kilogram is about 100 rubles.

If you want to save money on large renovation works, buy a large package of the product.

During the repair, you cannot do without adhesives. This is justified by the fact that the use of elements such as nails or screws can make the material look unsightly. In order not to spoil appearance premises after renovation, glue bustilat is often used: we learn the main properties and use cases below.
