It is preferable to plant roses in autumn in regions with mild winters, and in regions with a harsh climate in open ground roses are planted mainly in spring. However, when growing cut roses, an autumn plantation is recommended for more early flowering roses of the first and second cut waves compared to those planted in spring. Spring planting is desirable for standard roses.

Autumn roses in middle lane planted in the ground from mid-September to mid-October. More early landing and warm autumn adversely affect the seedlings, which can wake up dormant buds. A later planting and very cold autumn increases the likelihood that the rose seedlings will not have time to take root and will suffer frost in winter.

Roses love the sun, warmth and open air space, therefore, under the rose garden they choose an area facing south (with a slight slope for melt water to drain off) and protected from cold winds, where groundwater are deeper than 1 m. In areas with excessive soil moisture, good drainage is arranged and the rose garden is made slightly raised to create favorable conditions for the roots. It is undesirable for roses to be close to other plants and close to the walls of houses.

Roses require fertile, loose, well-seasoned with organic fertilizers, moderately moist soils. The fertile layer should be at least 40 cm. In most cases, these are medium-heavy - clayey with sand, or sandy with clay soils, with a slightly acidic reaction of pH 6.5-7. If the soil at the site of the future rose garden is poor, prepare fertile soil for planting roses: loamy soil or clay, compost, humus or well-decomposed manure - cow, horse or chicken manure (unrecoverable manure cannot be used, it causes root rot in roses), mineral fertilizers (the amount of fertilizer depends on the quality of the soil). It is advisable to prepare a fertile mixture a few weeks before planting roses: the soil must be mixed with organic matter in a 1: 1 ratio, add a small amount of ash or lime, bone meal (150 g per square meter). To plant roses, they dig holes 40 cm in diameter and 50-70 cm deep, or dig trenches of the same depth and width, orienting them from north to south for better illumination. If the site is sandy, a layer of clay about 7 cm thick is placed on the bottom to prevent drying out of the soil; and if there is heavy clay soil on the site, heavy gravel sand is poured onto the bottom to prevent waterlogging of the soil. Pits and trenches are filled with previously prepared fertile soil and roses are planted.

High-quality rose seedlings should have well-branched roots with many thin roots and at least three highly developed undamaged shoots; the diameter of the scion and rootstock must match (5-8 mm). Seedlings with an open root system are soaked in water a day before planting. Before planting, leaves are removed from the shoots of roses and unripe and broken shoots are cut out with a sharp secateurs. The aerial part is shortened to 30-35 cm, long roots - up to 25-30 cm, cutting out rotten roots to a healthy place. The buds located below the vaccination site are removed - wild growth will develop from them. Seedlings are disinfected by spraying with 3% iron vitriol... The roots of roses are dipped in clay talker with mullein (2: 1) creamy consistency. Park roses are planted according to the scheme 75x100 cm for group and 1.5x2 m for ordinary plantings, Tea hybrid - 40x60 cm, large-flowered Polyanthus roses and Floribunda - 30x50 cm, small-colored Polyanthus roses - 30x40 cm, Repair roses - 40x70 cm; between climbing roses maintain a distance of 50 to 100 cm.

In cold regions, rose bushes are placed less often for better heating of the soil and aeration of plantings in order to avoid fungal diseases of roses. When growing cut roses, the plantation is laid in the fall according to a thickened scheme with double rows: the distance between the bushes is 25 cm, between the double rows is 30 cm, the row spacing is 50 cm. With such an economical arrangement of roses, the care of the bushes is facilitated, the peduncles are lengthened; the bushes stretch out a little, in the fall they stop growing in time, and the wood has time to mature well by winter. In grafted roses, when planting, the graft turns to the south, it should be 3 cm (on light soils - 5 cm) below the soil surface for good rooting and protection of the roots from freezing in winter.

In the fall, bush roses are planted a little deeper than they grew in the nursery in order to prevent the seedlings from bulging out from frost; climbing roses deepen more for the formation of additional roots. When planting, the roots are evenly spread in all directions and covered with fertile soil so that it fits snugly to the roots and there are no air cavities. The compacted soil is abundantly watered in several steps at the rate of 1-2 buckets of water per bush, after absorbing moisture, the surface is covered with dry soil and holes for irrigation are made around the plants. So that the shoots of the planted roses do not dry out and do not suffer from the approaching cold weather, the roses are sprinkled with peat or earth with sand to a height of 20 cm. subzero temperatures roses cover for the winter.

If rose seedlings have already been purchased and the term favorable landing expires, and the weather has deteriorated sharply, there is no need to plant roses somehow, it is better to keep them buried in greenhouses, cold basements or storage facilities at zero temperature until spring. In the open field, seedlings are buried in a trench about 40 cm deep on high section without stagnation melt water... Prepared rose seedlings are laid in a trench in an inclined position, sand is poured onto the root collars, and then the trench is densely filled with earth. With the establishment of stable frosts, the seedlings are covered with spruce branches and covered with peat, and on top with snow.

Roses that have adorned gardens since time Ancient rome, are represented by numerous varieties and hybrids, the number of which is several thousand. The queen of flowers cannot be called unpretentious plant... She is demanding on growing conditions and moderately capricious, but generously endows the gardener with lush flowering in gratitude for proper care.

On her successful development is influenced by a number of factors:

  • The choice of a favorable season when it is better to plant roses: in spring or autumn.
  • Planting and transplanting.
  • Pruning.
  • Watering.
  • Compliance with the rules of reproduction.
  • Top dressing.
  • Disease prevention.

Each of the listed stages of care requires careful attention, has certain nuances and subtleties.

Planting material: features of the root system

The choice of the time of year when it is better to plant roses (spring or autumn, or summer) depends on the species planting material and region.

Seasonal planting of roses is as follows:

  • In summer - only seedlings in containers (with a closed root system).
  • In autumn and spring - plants with a closed or open root system: in containers, in special packaging with a small amount of soil or with bare roots.

When buying seedlings with an open root system, the main selection criterion should be exactly the roots: well branched, without damage and dried out areas. The stem of a quality plant is smooth and glossy. If the rose is bought in spring, a little dryness is allowed in the upper part of the shoots.

If the rose is in a container, its branched roots should occupy the entire volume of the pot. The stems may be bright green or Brown color, leaves - with a uniform smooth surface.

Seedlings in cardboard or cellophane packaging can be purchased even in winter and stored until spring transplant, if transferred into a box or left in a package and kept in a refrigerator at a temperature of +5 0 C. After winter storage plants should be planted along with the soil covering the roots.

Choosing a season for planting

What time to plant roses? Spring and autumn are best suited for this.

The spring period is most favorable for planting material obtained by cuttings. The roots of such seedlings are not able to survive the winter cold, as they are still very weak. The end of April - May is the best period for plants grown from cuttings. At this time, the earth has already warmed up, the risk of sudden frosts is minimal.

Spring planting is also relevant for residents of the central part of Russia and the northern regions, where winter comes earlier than in the south. In order not to risk the health of seedlings, which may not have time to take root before the onset of frost, it is better to plant them in open ground in spring, when the soil warms up to 8-10 degrees.

In other cases optimal time for planting - autumn. Gardeners often wonder whether roses can be planted in September. It would seem that the earlier the plants are planted, the more time they have to take root and meet winter in its prime. But this is not the case. The plant quickly assimilates in the ground and under warm sunlight begins to form the first shoots that will not cope with frost and weaken the plant. Early planting in the ground can lead to the death of a young seedling.

In order for the rose to have time to take root, but not to grow, it should be planted from the second half of September to mid-October. Until the first frost root system will get stronger, the plant will go to winter rest strong and healthy, and in the spring it will begin to develop rapidly.

When deciding when it is better to plant roses (in spring or autumn), it should be borne in mind that the timing of autumn and spring planting may shift in one direction or another, depending on the region and weather conditions. If a cold snap has already come, and the seedlings are not planted, then it is better to dig them in or leave them in a cool cellar until spring.

A place for a heat-loving beauty

An important condition for lush bloom- in which part of the garden.

The rose loves warmth and sun, but not heat, in which the flowering period is shortened, and the shade of the petals becomes faded. The ideal side of the plot for a sissy is the southeast. The place is sunny, warm, without drafts and stagnant air and moisture.

The sun is the basis of pink splendor. They should caress the rose for at least six hours a day. Sun rays... It is desirable that this happens in the morning or evening hours. At group landing tall varieties are located in the background. Trees and shrubs should be no closer than 2 meters from the rose, the fence and high walls should be no closer than 0.6 m.

The rose does not like drafts, but favors good air circulation - this protects it from pests and pathogens.

The soil

To the soil, the rose is not as demanding as to the place of planting and watering. The main condition is the absence of surface groundwater, good drainage, a PH-neutral environment and the establishment of a nutrient composition during planting.

If the soil is sandy loam, add a mixture of manure and mineral fertilizers if loamy - sand dung.

Planting roses where there was a rose garden before is contraindicated. Former plants have depleted the soil, which has created fertile conditions for fungal bacteria.

How to plant a rose: basic rules

For planting, they dig a hole 0.5x0.5 m in size.This depth and width will be enough for free development root system. Compost or humus is laid at the bottom, a layer of earth is covered, a small mound is raked in the center of the hole and watered abundantly. Planting begins when the water is completely absorbed.

Before planting a seedling with an open root system, the roots are cut by 1/3 of the entire length. If the roots are in the substrate, then the substrate is not removed from the roots during planting.

After the seedling is set in a hole on a mound, the roots are straightened, covered with soil 5 cm above the grafting site, a roller is made of earth and watered abundantly (a bucket per bush). After watering, the shoot is spud and left sprinkled with loose soil until the time when the seedling takes root and sprouts the first shoots. Usually two weeks are enough for this. After this, the shoot is freed from excess soil in cloudy weather or in the evening, so that the sun's rays do not burn thin branches.

Watering after planting

An important factor in determining when it is best to plant a rose outdoors is the amount of water available to a young seedling. In the spring, the soil is saturated with moisture from the melted snow - this facilitates survival.

In the future, the rose is watered once a week at a moderate temperature. If the sun is active, the weather is steady hot, then the number of irrigations is doubled.

The norm for the volume of water for one irrigation is 1 bucket per bush. Water it strictly under the base of the bush, preventing moisture from entering the leaves.

Water must penetrate deep into the soil. Surface watering causes the tendency of small roots to grow upward, thereby slowing down their growth.

It will reduce the evaporation of moisture and keep it in the soil such a mandatory care of roses as mulching. The base of the bush covered with humus will protect the roots from drying out and prevent the earth from overgrowing with weeds.

Pruning roses

Regardless of when it is better to plant roses: in spring or autumn, you must not forget about pruning them.

When planting in the fall, the shoots are cut to 1/3 of the length. In spring, prune harder, leaving 2 or 3 buds on the stem.

In the future, trimming is done twice:

  • In early spring, diseased and dry shoots are cut to heal the plant. 4-5 healthy branches are left on the bush. This will form beautiful bush the correct shape.
  • In summer, dried flowers are removed, cutting off the stem of up to 3-5 buds in hybrid tea, large-flowered polyanthus and floribunda, up to 1-2 in small-flowered polyanthus, in other varieties - up to 5-7 buds.

No pruning is done in the fall.

The general rules for pruning are as follows:

  • Weak and diseased branches are cut off as much as possible or removed completely, strong ones are cut off minimally.
  • The instrument must be sanitized and sharp.
  • If cut to the bud, which is located on inside stem, vertical growth of the shoot will begin. If pruned to the outside bud, lateral branches grow. The second option should be predominant, so as not to thicken and shade the middle of the bush, as this leads to a lack of oxygen and lighting, contributes to the development of diseases.

Correct pruning contributes to beautiful sight and the growth of the rose, but irrational, in violation of the basic rules can lead to the death of the plant.

Fertilizing roses

From early spring to mid-August, seedlings are fed with a mixture of ammonium nitrate, superphosphate and potassium salt. Then ammonium nitrate must be excluded from the composition.

If the seedling is in stressful situation(persistent heat, prolonged rains), will help him survive the difficult period of spraying with sodium humate, root or epin.

One of the best fertilizers for roses, manure (horse, cow) or bird droppings is considered. It must be aged for six months, since the acidic environment fresh manure or droppings not only blocks nitrogen in the soil, but can also burn the roots of the plant.

Cutting roses

One of the most common ways to propagate a rose is by grafting.

Cutting cuttings is best done in spring, when pruning bushes after wintering. If we plant roses with cuttings in spring, we adhere to the following rules:

  • the middle part of the shoot is taken with a thickness of more than 0.5 cm;
  • the stalk has 2 to 4 eyes;
  • the lower cut is made 2-3 cm below the kidney, the upper one - just above the kidney;
  • the leaf in the lower part of the cutting is removed completely, in the upper leaf - only half.

Cutting the stems is recommended in the morning when the branches are saturated with moisture. Prepared cuttings are stuck into a weed-free and abundantly moist soil. This can be a specially prepared bed or a place on the north side of the mother bush. To create a favorable microclimate, cuttings are covered with cut plastic bottle or spunbond.

Spring landing in the ground

The cuttings took root, gave the first shoots, and again the question arises of when is it better to plant roses: in spring or in autumn?

It is better not to touch young plants, let them grow in the same place, under the protection of a mini-greenhouse or covering material. During spring, summer and autumn, the soil should be regularly moistened (without flooding!). For the winter, the seedlings are covered with earth and reliably covered.

Saplings that have successfully rooted and survived the winter unfold their first leaves and throw out thin shoots. If the plant is strong, you can transplant it to a new location. If there is no urgent need for this, then it is better to leave the bush in the same place for another year, so that it gains strength until next spring.

Planting young roses in a new place is done carefully and always with a clod of earth.

Autumn planting

If the rose has a strong root system, and the bush itself is strong and healthy, then autumn is a convenient time for planting. The rules on how to plant roses in the fall with roots do not differ from the spring planting of seedlings. Special attention should be given only to the introduction of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, which can provide accelerated preparation of seedlings for winter conditions.

The main advantage of planting roses in autumn is that at this time, nurseries offer numerous grafted varieties and hybrids for sale. In spring, the varietal diversity is not so bright, and the plants themselves are weakened after wintering.

Roses have been used for centuries landscape design... They do not lose their relevance today. The rose is considered a symbol of love and passion. They are given on special occasions when they want to emphasize the importance of the occasion. Every gardener dreams of growing such a magnificent flower on his site. All methods of growing and caring for them have long been studied, but many beginners sometimes find it difficult to understand the issue associated with planting roses in the fall. Many varieties require some care and many other nuances.

Benefits of autumn planting

You need to start preparing by choosing a variety and color, perhaps several varieties or flowers will be planted in the rose garden, so you need to decide on a plan in advance. It is advisable to draw up a drawing, with marks of varieties and colors. All this is needed to achieve a positive result next spring.

Some argue that planting is best done in the spring, but this is not the case. Autumn is considered the optimal period. This is due to the fact that:

  • In autumn, air humidity is higher than in spring and fluctuates around 80%;
  • A large amount of rainfall promotes rapid rooting;
  • The soil is warm enough, and its temperature is kept at the same level.

Boarding time

It is better to plant plants from late September to mid-October. If you carry out this procedure earlier, when there is still warm weather, the plant may enter the flowering phase. As a result, it will not have time to prepare for winter in time. If you stay a little longer, the root system will not have time to properly take over, and with the onset of the first frosts, the roses will most likely die or get sick.

All this applies only to those varieties that are adapted to a certain area. Therefore, when choosing a rose variety, climatic conditions must be taken into account.

Site selection

Roses prefer:

  • Open areas to enjoy the sunshine;
  • Airspace and protection from strong winds;
  • Soil that is not prone to stagnant groundwater;
  • Loose and enriched useful substances soil.

If the soil is not fertile enough, rotted manure is introduced into the prepared pit in 2-4 days. If it is not rotten enough, it will burn the young roots of the plant, and there it will destroy the rose.

The best option is the southern slope of the site. It is there that it is better to create a rose garden. If groundwater passes near the surface, it is necessary to pour drainage into the pits and, if possible, raise the site.

Roses love to grow surrounded by their own kind, so other plants should not grow next to them. The rose garden should be located away from houses and buildings that can block the sun's rays.

Weather

You need to start planting in warm and calm weather. You cannot plant in unsuitable weather, it is better to postpone planting until spring, hiding the seedlings in a basement or greenhouse. You can also pick up another place where the temperature will fluctuate within 0 ° C.

Planting material

For successful rooting, the seedling must have at least three shoots and a well-developed root system. The diameter of the root collar should be between 8-10 cm. The best option- the closed roots of the plant, in this form they are easier to transport and maintain their integrity. If the roots are open, they need to be scraped a little. Healthy roots have White color, elastic and smooth.

Before landing, you need to carry out the following activities:

  1. Remove damaged twigs and leaves from shoots, do this sharp knife or pruning shears;
  2. If necessary, shorten the ground part to 30-40 cm. The roots are also shortened to 30 cm;
  3. Rotten, broken or aching roots are carefully trimmed;
  4. Then the roots are sprayed with a 3% solution of ferrous sulfate and dipped in a mixture of clay and mullein, in a ratio of 2: 1, according to outward appearance the consistency should be similar to sour cream.

Before planting, it is advisable to place open roots in water for several hours.

If the roses are to be planted by cuttings, they should have already formed roots. To do this, cuttings are placed in a container with sand at the end of summer and watered periodically. By the time of planting, small roots appear on the cuttings, which are quite enough for successful adaptation.

Landing pit

A pit for roses with an open root system must be prepared in the size of 45x45x45 cm.This is quite enough. In the case of closed roots, a little more size earthen coma.

Full blooming of roses will be only in fertile soils, the thickness of such a layer should be at least 40 cm.

If the soil is poor in trace elements, you can add to the prepared hole in 2-3 weeks:

  • Clay;
  • Compost or humus;
  • Mineral fertilizers for roses. You can buy them in specialized stores.

The root collar of the seedling must be deepened into the ground by a few centimeters. This is necessary for frost protection. Having installed the seedling exactly and neatly, sprinkle it with earth and tamp it a little. At the end, the rose is watered abundantly.

Shelter for the winter

It is impossible to leave roses for the winter without shelter, even if these are winter-hardy varieties. You can hide them wooden boxes, cover with lutrasil and polyethylene on top, and so that the wind does not blow away - everything is pressed with stones. You can also use spruce branches by laying a thick layer on top of young seedlings.

Having planted the rose bushes correctly, on next year you can wait for their flowering, which will delight all residents of the house, as well as their guests, who will admire what they see.

Planting roses in open ground is not an easy task, especially for a novice grower. In this article, we will tell you in detail how to do it correctly in order to grow a beautiful rose garden on your own.

Most the right time for autumn planting of roses - from mid-September to early October. Plants planted during this period manage to take root well before the onset of frost and quickly start growing in the spring. First of all, this applies to regions in which winters are quite mild. In autumn, the ground is well warmed up, there is enough rainfall, so the seedlings develop better than when planting roses in spring.

Choosing a landing site

Roses do well in a sunny and wind-protected area. In this case, groundwater should lie at least 1 m from the earth's surface. It is also important to provide the plants with good drainage. The liquid should not stagnate, therefore a good place for roses there will be a southern slope, from which melt water will quickly flow down in spring.

And it is also desirable that there are no tall plants and trees near the rose garden, otherwise they will create shade for the flowers.

Preparing the soil for roses

Roses prefer fertile, well-drained, loose and moderately moist soil. Moreover, the thickness of the nutrient layer should be at least 40 cm.If the soil on your site is depleted, 2-3 weeks before planting, prepare a nutrient mixture from loamy soil and organic fertilizers(compost or humus) in a 1: 1 ratio.

Preparing seedlings

If you purchased a seedling with an open root system, then soak it in water a day before planting. Then remove the leaves, using a sharp pruner, cut out all damaged roots, and slightly rotted ones - cut them to a healthy place, shorten the aerial part to a length of 30 cm.Also remove the buds that are below the grafting site, since wild growth will grow from them.

Then spray the seedling with 3% iron sulfate, dip the roots in clay mixed with mullein in a 2: 1 ratio. This will protect the rose from diseases and pests.

Take a close look at the rose seedling. It should have at least three well-developed, intact shoots. Seedlings with an open root system should have branched roots and many small roots.

Planting roses in autumn in 6 steps

1. Dig a hole 40 cm in diameter and 50-70 cm deep.

2. At the bottom pour drainage from broken bricks, pebbles or expanded clay, if the soil on the site is heavy; or apply a 7 cm layer of clay if the soil is sandy. Sprinkle fertile soil on top.

3. Place the seedling on it, gently spreading the roots.

4. Cover the remaining space with soil dug out of the hole or with prepared soil mixture (see section "Preparing soil for roses"), mixing it with 1-2 glasses of ash.

The root collar of the seedling or the grafting site should be 5 cm below the ground surface, and for standard roses - 10 cm.

5. Lightly compact the soil and water abundantly. To better saturate the water, it is better to do this in several passes. The total liquid consumption should be 1-2 buckets per bush.

6. To prevent the roots of the plant from freezing during the autumn frosts, sprinkle the seedlings with a layer of dry peat 15-20 cm thick. This will also help to retain moisture in the soil. After 2 weeks, slightly level the peat slide.

When planting flowers in groups, consider: the distance between the bushes park roses should be 75-90 cm. Polyanthus, hybrid tea and floribunda roses should be planted at a distance of 30-60 cm. And when planting climbing and standard bushes, the distance between bushes should be increased to 1 m.

What to do if you are late with planting roses?

If in the fall the weather suddenly turned bad, and you have not yet managed to plant the previously purchased seedlings of roses, you should not do it hastily, as the plants will not have time to take root. Better until spring, dig them in an inclined position in a greenhouse or in a trench (about 40 cm deep) dug in unprotected soil. When frosts begin, cover the seedlings with spruce branches and peat, and sprinkle them with snow on top.

In addition, the seedlings can be placed in a basement with a temperature of about 0 ° C.

Rose lovers begin to acquire their pet even in winter, subscribing them from various nurseries or online stores. As a rule, such roses

Planted in spring. However, buying them in this way, there is not always a guarantee that the exact ones you ordered will be sent to you. Therefore, many rose growers try to buy plants in the fall when they are sold with flowers. Here you already know for sure that planting roses in the fall will not turn into buying a pig in a poke. It can be selected both by the color of the flower and by the aroma and size of the bush.

How to choose roses for planting in the fall

So, you are choosing a rose bush with an open root system in the nursery or on the market. What should you pay attention to first? Of course, the number of shoots and roots. It is advisable to choose such seedlings, which have two or three strong shoots, and the root system is well developed, and does not have one long root without lateral processes. In addition, small threadlike roots should be present on the roots, which precisely deliver nutrition to the rose from the soil.

Also, pay attention to the fact that the foliage on the plant is not affected by black spots, the leaves are not twisted and cobwebs. Also, there should be no different small insects on a rose bush. In general, the rose bush should be healthy, have shiny green leaves and preferably a blossoming flower, according to the appearance and aroma of which we make our choice. If you decide to buy a rose in the fall, you will probably be wondering which ones exist in general, in order to have an idea of what size the bush will be later, and find its place in the garden.

It happens so - they bought a plant, in the hope that it will be of small height, and planted it in the foreground, and a year later they received a bush that covers all the flowers growing behind it. And you have to transplant the plant, and this is extra stress for him, a long process of rooting in a new place.

For example, they cannot in any way be located in the foreground of your flower garden because of their size, which can sometimes reach 3 meters in height.

When is the best time to plant roses in autumn

If you are not sure when to plant roses in the fall, then focus on planting dates fruit trees and shrubs. After all, a rose is the same shrub as any other, and given that everything cultivated roses are grafted on a rose hip, which is distinguished by remarkable frost resistance, the planting dates for these plants can be extended practically until November, in central Russia. And here it is already necessary to think about a good shelter for the winter. If you doubt whether roses are planted in autumn, then know that autumn is just the best time for this. Planted in a month after the onset of frost, the bushes will have time to take root in the soil and painlessly survive the winter, of course, subject to good shelter and the presence of snow on the site.

There is one more nuance why many rose lovers choose autumn planting... Sellers of roses with an open root system, fearing that they will not have time to sell their seedlings before the onset of cold weather, reduce prices by about 30%. For example, if in September roses cost 150 rubles on the market in our region, then in October you can easily buy them for 100 rubles. Therefore, the question of when to plant roses in the fall seems clear.

How to plant roses in the fall correctly

You have purchased seedlings and now you need to assign them to permanent place residence for many years. You probably already know that the rose loves a sunny place, although there are shade-tolerant roses. When the planting site is found, we dig a hole of such depth and width so that the roots in it are located freely, without bending and twisting. If you have several seedlings, place them at a distance of 70-80 cm from each other, so the bushes will be well ventilated in summer. Fertilizers and compost should be applied only if the soil is very poor, and then in small quantities. When doing this, be careful about adding humus. It must be carefully moved with the soil so as not to burn the roots of the seedling, but pour a layer of ordinary earth on top.

If you bought roses and did not manage to plant them on the same day, it is better to lower them in water before planting.

Now we take our bushes out of the water and with a pruner we cut all existing roots by 1-2 cm so that the cuts become light. If a rose is purchased in bloom, flowers and buds must be cut off, no matter how you would like to leave them on the bush. It is also recommended to cut off all the foliage so that the seedling wastes less moisture, because moisture evaporation occurs just through the leaves. We cut all shoots to a height of 30-40 cm and after that we put the bush in the prepared hole by grafting to the south. The video shows planting roses in autumn quite well.

We straighten the roots and sprinkle with soil half the height of the hole, slightly crush the ground so that the seedling does not fall, and spill the hole abundantly. If the soil is dry, as we have this summer, then the hole is shed additionally before installing the seedling into it.

As soon as the water is absorbed into the soil, add the remaining soil and squeeze the roots well to squeeze all air pockets out of the ground. The vaccination site should be buried 8-10 cm in the ground. This will keep it from freezing in winter. Although on this occasion there is no unequivocal opinion among rose growers.

Note that if the graft is located flush with the ground, then over time it may end up above the surface of the ground, since the bushes have the property of bulging out of the soil and then the big question is how such a rose can withstand winter frosts.

Make an earthen roller around the bush so that the water does not spread during watering and goes directly to the roots. And you need to water a new rose in the same way as everyone else, once a week with a bucket of water before the onset of cold weather, provided that the autumn is dry and without rain.

It so happens that you bought seedlings or received them by mail, but there is no time to plant them or they did not find a place. In this case, they can be saved until spring by simply digging in the garden or in a hole about a meter deep, closing it from above. wooden shields, branches, ground.
