Pump for increasing water pressure: the solution to the problem of low pressure. Recommendations for the selection and installation of pumps to increase water pressure

We offer to buy pumps for increasing water pressure in a private house in Moscow in a wide range of favorable prices... With the help of this equipment, you can increase the water pressure on individual segments of the water supply system, ensuring comfortable operation of the water supply network.

Distinctive features of the boost pump

To solve the problem of increasing the pressure, two types of devices are used:

  • Universal circulating. Their design is designed to maintain the movement of water flow in closed system, but they can also be used to increase the pressure.
  • Specialized household pump to increase pressure - a device, the design of which is designed specifically to capture the flow into the pump design with minimal hydraulic energy losses and increase the flow rate. They have a higher efficiency, and therefore allow you to achieve a stable head with less energy consumption.

Among technical features of these devices can be distinguished:

  • Automatic switch-on sensor. A convenient and useful solution that allows you to determine the moment of starting water at points of consumption in order to automatically turn on the device.
  • Overheat protection. The thermal relay switches off the device in case of excessive load, preventing failure.
  • Protection against work in the absence of water. The equipment works only in the presence of liquid working environment in system.

Scope of application of boost pumps

Automatic flow-through units are used to solve a wide range of tasks. Most often, it is necessary to buy a booster pump for a water supply:

  • To improve the quality of water supply for private houses or individual segments of the water supply system (with a lack of pressure).
  • When building networks for watering plants, in order to provide the required pressure. The simplest and cheapest step-up unit is suitable for this purpose.
  • In apartments with an unsatisfactory pressure of the centralized water supply network.

Pump selection criteria

Prices for pumps for increasing the pressure of cold water primarily depend on the following factors:

  • The power of the device. Typically 90 to 270 watts. The parameter determines the performance of the unit.
  • Maximum productivity, l / min. You need to select it based on the parameters of the water supply network.
  • Head is a measure of the height to which the device pushes water. Measured in meters.
  • Body material. Cast iron and brass structures are used. Cast iron - premium and extremely durable, brass - more affordable.

Low pressure in the water supply system can put not only you out of yourself, but also expensive equipment out of order. Agree, and that, and another just need to be protected. Such situations mainly oppress the owners of private houses, but they also happen in apartments connected to centralized networks. How to deal with them?

Pumps for increasing water pressure will forever save you from these troubles. They will provide the operating parameters required for the normal functionality of household appliances. Compact, almost invisible devices will protect your nerves and extend the life of the units.

In the article presented to your attention, the principles of the selection of equipment and the rules for its installation are detailed. Those wishing to carry out the work with their own hands or to control the hired plumbers will be helped by useful schemes. The information is supplemented by photo collections and videos.

The problem of low pressure in the water supply system is solved using two types of devices: circulation and self-priming pumps. The former are simpler and easier to install in the system.

A conventional circulation pump consists of a rotor, an impeller attached to it, and a motor that rotates it all. Usually, if there is water in the system, but its pressure is weak, one or two pumps are enough.

The problem of increasing the pressure in the water supply system is solved in two ways: by installing a circulation or centrifugal self-priming pump (click to enlarge)

But if water does not flow to the upper floors at all, you will have to supply it. Such a device is simply installed as part of a plumbing system in a suitable location. The impeller spins to accelerate the flow of water.

As a result, the pipes fill up faster with water, providing the required level of pressure in the water supply. These are compact, low power devices designed to solve local problems. Suction pumps are characterized by higher performance and more sophisticated design.

In addition to a suction pump capable of pumping water to a considerable height, the system is also equipped with a special membrane.

The work of this technique is automated and used. Water is first fed into storage tank, and then enters the water supply system, providing required characteristics inside the system.

So if centrifugal pump allows you to eliminate the problem in some separate area, then the suction equipment is used to regulate the entire water supply in the house or apartment.

Self-priming boost pumps are capable of lifting liquid to a height of 12 m, while their power starts from 2 m 3 / h.

Circulating pumps have the ability to work "dead-end", i.e. they do not need to be turned off even if all taps are closed and no water is taken from the system.

The supply pumps function in much the same way to increase the water pressure. These devices are similar in design to circulation models.

If such a pump is turned off, water will circulate freely through its housing. As soon as power is supplied to the engine, the pump turns on.

The impeller starts to rotate and the water pressure in the system increases. When choosing between automatic or manual systems, the former is usually preferred.

Comparison of the plumbing system diagram with and without a boost pump makes it possible to more accurately represent the installation procedure for such equipment.

It is more convenient to use such a technique, and it lasts longer, since it does not work idle. It makes sense to take the pump on manual control only in those cases when it will be used either for a very short time (temporary option), or extremely rarely (in the summer, in the country, only on weekends).

The diagram clearly shows the pump device with wet rotor... Water washes the moving parts of the pump and absorbs excess heat

Dry and wet rotor refers to information about the device's cooling system. In the first case, it is cooled by the air flow, and in the second - by the flow of the pumped water.

A wet rotor pump is cheaper, but has less service life due to negative impact sediment accumulated during pumping water on the working parts. Models with a dry rotor cope with their tasks more efficiently, and they have a longer service life.

Rules for selecting the power of the unit

The power of the device must be commensurate with the needs of the system. Lack of pressure is bad, but too much pressure is not needed.

If a pump is too powerful for the water supply, the pressure in the system will increase, and all its elements will be subjected to unnecessary additional stress. This leads to quick wear and frequent breakdowns.

The water pressure in the system should not be less than two atmospheres. This is enough for comfortable water treatments as well as to start automatic washing machine.

Although some models are more demanding in terms of operating conditions. For example, if the house has a shower, hydromassage, jacuzzi or other similar devices, the pressure should be higher.

In this case, it is better to increase the pressure in the water supply system to 5-6 atmospheres. Certain types of equipment require even higher performance.

Therefore, the first step before installing a pump that increases pressure should be to study the documentation of household appliances. If some devices are planned to be purchased in the future, their characteristics must also be taken into account.

To create a permanent high pressure the system uses special pumping stations, including a pump and a hydraulic tank. Their work is controlled by a pressure switch.

Exact calculations can be made by a specialist, but usually preliminary data made "by eye" are sufficient. To determine what kind of head actually exists in the system, you can use the usual liter jar... The water is opened and it is measured how many liters of water poured out of the tap in a minute.

Then you need to deal with your current needs. If the inconvenience is due to the fact that it is difficult to take a shower due to the low pressure when the kitchen tap is open, it is enough to use a regular pump, which will increase the pressure by a couple of atmospheres.

But if the house has an automatic washing machine, shower or other equipment of this kind, you should study the technical documentation.

Each such consumer requires a certain water pressure. Lack of sufficient pressure can lead to idle operation of expensive equipment.

Household appliances, especially those of foreign manufacture, are not designed for such working conditions. A breakdown caused by the lack of normal head can be considered as an event that does not meet the warranty conditions.

You can focus on the maximum pressure indicators in the water supply system indicated in the device passports. In the presence of a large number of such equipment, it is worth contacting an engineer for advice.

Choosing a model of a water pump that is suitable in terms of power for increasing pressure, you should also take into account the needs of the equipment, the acquisition of which is planned in the future.

Lack of pressure in the water supply system can lead to premature wear and tear and failure of expensive water heating and plumbing equipment.

Installation principles for self-priming models

Installation of this type of pump is not very complicated. This will require approximately the same skills and tools that are needed to install a different type of pumping equipment.

Schematically, the installation of a boost pump can be represented in the form of the following steps:

  1. Choosing a place for the accumulator and pump.
  2. Installation of a hydraulic accumulator.
  3. Installation of pipes for connecting equipment to the water supply.
  4. Hanging the pump on the wall.
  5. The piping of the pump and accumulator.
  6. Checking the operation of equipment in automatic mode.

In fact, a pump and accumulator with a pressure switch is a variation. To implement the installation of such a system of devices, you first need to find a place to place the tank.

Some craftsmen replace a hydraulic accumulator with a membrane with a regular large capacity, for example, a 200 liter plastic tank.

Instead of a pressure switch, the tank is equipped with a float switch to ensure that it is automatically filled as needed. Such a tank is installed as high as possible: in the attic or on the upper floor. Immediately, you should think about not only the size, but also about the configuration of the container.

The flat and narrow tank will take up less space than the traditional cylindrical model. Although there are no special requirements for the configuration of the capacity. When choosing a place for a container, it is necessary to provide for access to the tank / accumulator or the possibility of easy dismantling of this element. This is required to complete Maintenance, repair or replacement of the device.

The photo shows the installation of check valves during installation plastic tank, as well as the procedure for connecting the inlet and outlet pipes to the water pipe

They are supplied ready for installation, but the tank needs to be prepared. Holes are made in it for the intake and intake of water.

You can also make a separate shut-off valve to drain the water in an emergency. The pipes for supplying water to the tank and taking it into the water supply system are mounted to one water pipe.

V modern conditions for the installation of a water supply system, it is more logical to use easy-to-install and reliable plastic pipes.

To prevent air from the pump from being sucked into the tank, as well as to prevent water from entering there when the equipment is turned off, a check valves... After that, pipes are mounted, with the help of which the tank is connected to the water supply system.

Circulation pumps take up a minimum of space, do not interfere with the maintenance of household appliances

After the tank or accumulator is installed and the necessary water pipes have been laid, you can begin to install the suction pump. Usually such a device is delivered disassembled. It is first assembled and then installed.

If you decide to mount the pump on the wall, you should first make the markings for the fasteners. Then the pump is suspended and connected to the water supply pipes. In general, this is not a very difficult operation. An important point- the direction of the liquid in the pump. It is indicated on the case with special marks.

The pump should be installed in such a way that the movement of water is from the tank to the water draw-off points. Thus, the installation and connection diagram of the pressure boosting pump is as follows: hydraulic accumulator-pump-consumer. Then the pump is piped.

All connections must be carefully sealed. If to connect the boost pump are used threaded connections, a suitable seal should be used: FUM tape, linen thread, etc.

The amount of sealant should be sufficient, but not excessive. TO plastic pipes the device is connected by means of special fittings.

After that, you should check the operation of the entire system. If a tank with a float switch was used, fill it with water. They check not only the operation of the sensor. The container, which serves as a storage tank, should be checked for leaks. If everything is in order, you can proceed to testing the operation of the pump itself.

The pump must be connected to electrical network... It is recommended to move the pump selector lever to the automatic position. It remains to open the nearest water tap and observe the operation of the device. If the installation is done correctly, the pump should automatically turn on, and the water pressure will increase markedly.

The installation of pressure boosting circulation pumps is carried out in a similar manner. For them, they choose a suitable place in the water supply system, and cut it there. In this case, it is also extremely important to correctly connect the pump, taking into account the direction of flow of the liquid. If the position of the device is not correct, the pump will still allow the flow of water.

Connection diagram of the circulation pump to the water supply system. Installation of such a device is very simple, but it is important not to confuse the direction of water flow.

But its work will be extremely ineffective, since the device simply will not function. The instructions and on the housing detail the correct position of the pump.

After installation, the pump is turned on to the power supply and its operation is checked. If the water pressure at the nearest water intake point has increased, it means that the installation has been done correctly.

A small pump to increase the pressure is simply bumped into the system. Usually, for this, it is enough to remove a piece of pipe of the appropriate length at the beginning of the water supply

Installation of a system with a hydraulic accumulator looks a little more complicated. First you need to figure out the device of the whole structure.

The pump is connected to the accumulator using special hoses. Then a pressure switch is connected, with which the equipment will turn on and off.

This figure shows in detail the principle of operation of the pump with a hydraulic accumulator and the procedure for connecting it. The pump fills the tank and then shuts down

Deserves special attention. Before starting work, it is recommended to carefully study the instructions and recommendations of the manufacturer.

If knowledge and skills for high-quality installation and the setting of the technique is not enough, it is better to contact a specialist for advice or to completely entrust him with all the work.

Not always, to solve the problem with low water pressure in the system, a boost pump is definitely needed. To begin with, it does not hurt to diagnose the condition of the water pipes. Cleaning them or complete replacement can restore normal head without additional equipment.

To understand that the problem is in the poor condition of the water pipes, sometimes it is enough to ask neighbors who live in apartments on the same floor or higher.

If they have a normal head, they almost certainly need to clean the pipes. If the picture is the same for everyone, perhaps there are more serious problems affecting the entire plumbing system of the house and even the area.

V high-rise buildings water sometimes simply does not flow to the upper floors. It requires high-power and rather expensive equipment. It makes sense to partner with other tenants to share the costs.

It is a good idea to demand a solution to the problem from the organization that receives the payment for the water supply, since it is they who must ensure the supply of water to the consumer.

Lack of water on the upper floors is a violation of the requirements fire safety... When communicating with a water service provider, you should pay attention to this point and mention the possibility of litigation in view of non-compliance with legal norms.

It is best to entrust the installation of equipment in an apartment building to a regular plumber management company... He and with the system better familiar, and will be responsible in the event of leaks or breakdowns caused by poor-quality installation of equipment.

The presence of a water supply in the house means maintaining a constant pressure and water pressure. However, the parameters do not always meet the demand, and in such cases it is necessary to install a pump to increase the water pressure. The equipment must be installed, otherwise all Appliances will fail and fail. When choosing a booster pump or water supply station, it is imperative to correctly calculate the parameters and familiarize yourself with all types of equipment.

For the unit of pressure measurement in the water supply pipeline, the following values are used: 1 bar = 1.0197 atm. = 10.19 m water column. The standards recommend a level of no more than 4 atm, but the drops are quite significant. In particular, the head in the house is more than 7 atm. destroys equipment, but the indicator is less than 2 atm. so small that neither the washer nor the dishwasher will work. The minimum pressure indicator for flawless functionality of all devices is 2.5-3 atm. When descending, a booster pump is required to maintain the pressure level at the desired height.

To select equipment, you will have to concretize the problem:

  • Low pressure of tap water;
  • The upper floors are not supplied with water flow at all.

In the first option, a pump is suitable to increase the water pressure in the house, and in the second, you will have to use the services of a water station.

Model range classification

The calculation will tell you whether you need to add pressure to the water or you will have to raise the aquifer to the upper floor in the house. If only the pressure increase is enough, medium-sized equipment installed in the pipeline of autonomous or public water supply is quite suitable. To supply water to the top, an automatic high pressure centrifugal water pump with a hydraulic accumulator is required. Such devices are equipped with manual and automatic modes:

  • manual mode will ensure continuous work unit... But care must be taken that such a pump to increase water pressure does not overheat, otherwise it will fail. Therefore, it will have to be turned off from time to time;
  • automatic pump regulated by a flow sensor... When the crane is turned on, the pump starts up. The advantage: protection against dry running, which means that the unit will run much longer. Efficiency is due to the inclusion of the pump only when the tap is opened, which is also a plus for increasing the service life.

According to the method of cooling the unit, the models also differ:

  • dry rotor - a structure cooled by the movements of the impeller blades. A booster pump of this type has a high efficiency, low noise, which is very important when working in a water supply system in a house;
  • wet rotor - a unit cooled by flows of pumped water. This is an almost silent device, the compact size of which makes it possible to mount a pump that increases the pressure in any pipes.

Important! When choosing pumps to increase the pressure in the water supply system, it is worth reading the purpose: universal, for cold or hot water!

Pumping stations: differences and characteristics

If it is necessary to deliver liquid to the upper floors, a self-priming pumping station will be the best unit. The device is able to cope with problems that are beyond the power of pumps, both in private and multi-storey building... You can mount the device with or without a hydraulic accumulator, professionals advise not to neglect the storage tank, especially when it comes to the last floors in a high-rise building.

Household stations are a surface-type centrifugal pressure boosting pump connected to a hydraulic accumulator and equipped with a pressure switch. With the help of the unit, water is taken from the system and supplied to the storage tank. Even after turning off the device, the user will be able to receive water from the reservoir, and the pressure will be the most comfortable.

What to consider when choosing a unit?

When choosing a device, you need to consider the following points:

  1. the problem that the pump or station must solve;
  2. device characteristics (generated head and throughput);
  3. model and manufacturer;
  4. the size of the room where the equipment will have to be installed;
  5. the price.

Of course, not every user can independently calculate the performance and the required pressure. Therefore, it is better to call a specialist for help or contact the company where the equipment is produced: often representatives, selling stations and pumps, provide an installation service for free. If you need a slight increase in pressure, choose a compact pump cut right into the pipe - it will ideally cope with a pressure increase of 1-1.5 atmospheres and does not take up much space.

Attention! Professionals often suggest that the installation of several low-power devices is more profitable than the installation of equipment of the required power parameter and is quite expensive. This makes sense if you install structures to increase the pressure in the water supply directly in front of the parsing points.

Plumbing is enough complex system pipes, valves and taps, which must continuously supply water to consumers. The quality of these systems is assessed by such a technical parameter as " water pressure".

According to the current standard the water pressure in the water supply network must be within 3 ... 6 atmospheres... It is known that at water pressure in pipes less than 2 atmospheres work of household appliances (dishwashers and washing machines, water heaters ...) not possible... If the water pressure in the pipes is 7 atmospheres and more, then plumbing fails and tube joints are destroyed.

Therefore, the constant availability of the required water pressure within the specified limits is one of the most important tasks in the development and further use of water supply systems. The solution to this problem is especially relevant at the design stage of water supply systems. ... Indeed, during their design, it is necessary to take into account a huge number of factors, ranging from the number of consumers and ending with the average hourly water consumption of each object, be it apartment house, business or any other consumer.

In practice, it is extremely difficult to balance the influence of all existing factors; therefore, in reality, we have unbalanced water supply networks. Hence the constant problems with the supply of water to the population.

Why do you need a pump to increase water pressure

The minimum water pressure, which must be present in the pipes, is 2-3 atmospheres... This level of water pressure ensures normal use of household appliances, fire hydrants, etc. If the water pressure does not meet this requirement, it is necessary to use special devices that provide a given pressure level. These devices are:

  • Pump for increasing water pressure .
  • .

Boost pump water pressure in the house is used when there is water in the system, but the pressure is so small that its use is impossible. If the pressure on the first floors of the house is normal, and on the last there is no water at all, then the solution to the problem is possible by using a self-priming pumping station.

When choosing a device that will help solve an existing problem, first you need to determine the reason for the weak pressure ... Low pressure levels often occur when corrosion of water pipes or if they clogged with organic deposits... In this case, in use additional equipment not necessary - urgently need to change pipes... If the problem is still a weak head, then a water pressure pump in the house will help get rid of it.

Self-priming pump station is assembled on the basis of the same pump for increasing the water pressure, which is connected to the hydraulic accumulator and uses the water pressure switch for the pump to control the entire system. In this case, water is pumped into the storage tank.

Classification of pump models for water pressure

There are several options for classifying pumps for water pressure:

  • by appointment;
  • by the way of cooling;
  • according to the mode of operation.

By purpose, the pumps are divided into:

  • used for only one type of water (cold or hot);
  • universal used for any kind of water.

By the way of cooling, pumps are:

  • air cooling (dry rotor). The pump motor does not come into contact with water, and cooling is carried out by the fan blades mounted on the shaft;
  • water cooling (wet rotor). The rotor with the impeller is placed in water and isolated from the stator by a special glass. Cooling of the motor is provided by the pumped water.

Operating modes of pumps for water pressure:

  • auto ... The pump is controlled by a flow sensor. The pump is activated when opening any tap and turns off when it is closed;
  • manual ... In this case, the pump runs continuously. The pump is switched on and off manually, however it is important to avoid overheating the motor.

Advantages and disadvantages of conventional types of pumps and pumping stations

In general, equipment for increasing water pressure has advantages and disadvantages characteristic of this type of technology:

  1. High pressure pumps for water.

Advantages:

  • small size;
  • light weight;
  • noiseless operation;
  • installation directly on the water pipe;
  • low cost.

The disadvantage is the impossibility of raising the water pressure by more than 1 atmosphere.

  1. Pumping stations.

The main advantage is the provision of the required level of water pressure. Provides the ability to fully meet the needs of water supply apartment building, private country cottage or giving in automatic mode (if there is a water pressure switch for the pump).

Disadvantages:

  • technically complex installation;
  • large dimensions;
  • relatively loud noise;
  • the presence of a separate room for installation;
  • high price.

How to choose a pump to increase water pressure

You can buy a high-quality pump to increase water pressure in supermarkets. building materials, specialized outlets for the sale of plumbing, as well as with the help of stores operating on the Internet. Wherever pumps for increasing water pressure are sold, potential buyer will be able to familiarize himself with the operating parameters in detail and get expert advice on all issues of interest to him.

When choosing a pump to increase water pressure in a house, you need to pay attention to such technical specifications , how:

  1. Maximum power and pressure.
  2. Maximum performance.
  3. The level of noise generated during operation.
  4. Operating temperature range.

The cost of pumps for water pressure has a large price range and depends on:

  • manufacturer's brand;
  • productivity;
  • production technology and materials used.

ATTENTION! Solving the problem: "How to choose a pump to increase water pressure?" we must not forget that pumps for water pressure increase the pressure by no more than 25-40%. Therefore, their use is justified if the water pressure in the pipeline is at least 1.55 atmospheres.

Inhabitants an ordinary apartment multi-storey buildings can face a fairly unpleasant situation: Due to the low pressure in the water supply, it is impossible to take a good shower, wash the dishes or do laundry. Inspection of the pipes shows that they are in perfect order and not clogged with debris, and the neighbors do not suffer in the least from a similar problem, which confirms that there is insufficient pressure in only one room. The solution to this problem will be the installation of a pump that will increase the pressure.

Peculiarities

As a rule, a pump for increasing water pressure is used in cases where water pipes relatively new, they are not clogged with anything, as well as the filter with aerators, but the liquid still flows slowly. This is usually due to the fact that water initially enters the water supply from the central riser under low pressure. In most cases, buying a pump completely solves this problem, bringing the pressure to normal.

According to European standards, the pressure in the pipeline should be approximately 4-5 bar or atmospheres, which is explained by the requirements for plumbing fixtures. For example, if the pressure corresponds to 2 atmospheres, then the washing machine may simply not start. If we talk about jacuzzis or showers with special functions, then the situation becomes even more severe - an indicator of 4 bars will be the minimum acceptable for them.

That's why insufficient pressure can really lead to big problems.

Specifications

The rise and constant maintenance of pressure in the system is carried out using two types of pumps: circulating or self-priming. The first design is structured as follows: there is a rotor, an impeller is fixed on it, and there is also a motor that rotates the entire system. The circulating pump is called because of the promotion of the circulation of liquid in the pipes. Suction pumps are characterized by higher performance and more sophisticated design. They are equipped with a hydraulic accumulator with a special membrane. Water is first supplied to the storage tank, and then enters the water supply system. It can be concluded that a circulation pump that raises the pressure is able to solve the problem only in a separate area, and the suction pump can regulate the water supply throughout the apartment or even the house.

circulatory

self-priming

Pumps that increase the pressure in the water supply system are also divided into two large groups: with so-called "dry" rotor and "wet" rotor. "Wet" models are much more compact than "dry" ones. They do not make noise during operation and do not require special maintenance due to the fact that the parts are lubricated by themselves, by pumping liquid. Such a booster pump simply cuts into the pipe and functions like a conventional flow pump. Installation takes place in front of the tapping point or before household appliances e.g. a washing machine that requires water at a certain pressure.

These models are cooled due to the fact that water is being pumped.

Among the disadvantages of the booster pump of this type they highlight the fact that it does not differ in high performance and does not demonstrate a high coefficient of pressure increase. In addition, the "wet" unit can only be installed in one position: the rotor axis of the electric drive can only be placed in a horizontal plane.

The second type is the “dry rotor” model. They possess better power and performance as compared to wet models. Such a pressure boosting unit can be used simultaneously for several points of water intake. His power unit equipped with an individual air cooling system and is located slightly away from the main body. As a result, the "dry" pump can only be attached to the wall surface with a cantilever. Internal details these models are periodically subjected to friction, therefore it is necessary to provide constant lubrication. In addition, it should be borne in mind that it creates a lot of noise.

The device is cooled using blades located on the shaft.

In general, starting the water pump should only be done when the liquid pressure drops. This is ensured by control systems offering both manual and automatic modes. In the first case, the owner himself turns on the pump if he sees that there is a need to increase the pressure. Of course, he must control its use and avoid situations when the pump runs dry, without water.

In a situation with automation, the water flow sensor is responsible for the operation of the device. It turns on when liquid appears in the pipeline and turns off when it is lowered. Thus, the pump is protected against dry running and, consequently, against overheating and breakdown. Most often, the design is sold, being equipped with a sensor, but otherwise it can be purchased.

When a part is purchased separately, it is installed after the pump itself.

If the installation is carried out in a domestic water supply system - that is, in a situation where the fluid pressure can be both normal and reduced, then it is recommended to give preference to an automatic pump with a water pressure sensor. The device will turn on when the pressure is below normal, and turn off when everything is in order. When problems arise in a large apartment or house, you can purchase a whole pumping station. In addition to the pump, the kit includes a membrane-type accumulator and a pressure sensor. They will not have to increase the water pressure, as they will create it on their own.

Different pump systems are used for hot and cold water supply. To interact with hot water structures are made of special materials that are heat-resistant. Thanks to this, the price for them is much higher than for models that are in contact only with cold water.

There are also universal models that work in both cases.

The water pump, responsible for the increased pressure in the system, also has the following technical characteristics: maximum flow, the amount of flow at which the equipment is switched on in automatic mode (ranges from 0.12 to 0.3 liters per minute), maximum and rated power, temperature of the working medium and the size of a suitable pipeline.

We should also mention the automatic fire-fighting devices that increase the pressure, because these pumps are used not only in everyday life, but also in industry. They represent large redundant installations and are used in various plumbing systems and in fire extinguishing, irrigation and water cooling systems.

Their design is based on vertical and horizontal pumps, but the final design depends on the customer's requirements.

Scope of application

As a rule, in a private house you can independently adjust the water pressure in the pipeline, but in an ordinary city apartment there are no such possibilities. The most difficult thing is for the inhabitants of the upper floors. It is possible that the old pipes are overgrown with rust or limescale... The pressure drop can also be caused by filters that have not been changed for a long time or have not been cleaned. In addition, there is a human factor - utilities do not perform their duties qualitatively, a neighbor narrowed the pipe diameter for one reason or another, and sometimes the required capacity of centralized equipment was initially mistakenly calculated. In such cases, all kinds of everyday problems: a shower can only be taken if the neighbors have gone to work, the washing machine malfunctions, they turn off gas boilers and electric boilers... There are also situations when the pressure level in the water supply system has not just dropped, but it simply does not exist, and the water does not reach the consumer. For example, if the riser is too long and the booster pumps at the inlet are not able to raise the water to a sufficient level.

You can also find pumps that increase pressure from car wash owners, however, in this case, they differ from pipeline ones. The body is made of plastic, metal or high quality alloy. Due to the movement of the pistons in the piston chambers, high pressure is created inside the system. In such designs, there is also a control system that prevents dry running. When the outlet valve in the pistol is closed, the automation switches off the electric motor. This happens at the moment when the pressure inside the pump rises to the working one.

Manufacturers

Undoubtedly, the best manufacturers pumps that increase pressure are considered European firms. However, domestic companies are also showing decent results, especially in collaboration with Chinese ones.

The German unit "Wilo PB-201EA" is considered the best water pump produced in this country. It provides for both manual and automatic control, has a performance of 3.3 cubic meters per hour and pressure of 15 meters. In addition, it functions seamlessly in hot water and is able to withstand temperatures up to +80 degrees.

The Russian-Chinese booster pump Jemix W15GR-15A occupies a leading position in the dry rotor category.

It is inexpensive, reliable, and can be used in both hot and cold water.

The Danish device "Grundfos UPA 15-90 (N)" is equipped with a stainless steel housing and an asynchronous motor. It can function either in manual or automatic mode. The head corresponds to 8 meters, and the flow rate is 1.5 cubic meters per hour. It is very economical, because the power consumption reaches only 0.12 kilowatts. In addition, it does not make a lot of noise, is very durable and has protection against overheating and dry running.

The Comfort X15GR-15 is one of the best budget water pumps available. It is manufactured at the Russian-Chinese production and has the following parameters: productivity - 1.8 cubic meters per hour, head - 15 meters. The device operates in both manual and automatic modes and is mounted horizontally with additional fixation to the wall. The maximum possible water temperature reaches 100 degrees, which means that it can be used in both hot and cold water supply.

The pump uses little energy, does not corrode and is cheap.

Among the pumping stations, the Danish Grundfos MQ3-35 booster station with automatic control is distinguished. The suction depth reaches 8 meters, the head is 34 meters, and the flow rate is 3.9 cubic meters per hour. The station is equipped with a self-priming pump, an electric motor and a hydraulic accumulator.

It is reliable and has anti-cycling function.

How to choose?

The more carefully the buyer approaches the pump selection process, the better the effect he will receive as a result.

When purchasing a device, you need to take into account the following parameters:

  • Device power. Knowing this indicator, you can determine how many pump will be able to serve water intake points. The required power depends on which taps, which household appliances and in what quantity require a pressure increase.
  • Noise level. It is also recommended to know this parameter in advance.

  • Installation requirements. Some models can only function in combination with pipes of a certain diameter. Otherwise, the pump will not only fail to cope with the rise in water, but will also quickly fail, being operated with overloads.
  • The height of the water level rise generated by the pump. This indicator is relevant in the case of pumping stations serving several apartments at once.

  • The capacity of the device or the amount of liquid that the pump is capable of pumping in order to create the required pressure for a certain time. It should be borne in mind that the value of this indicator should be higher than the average water consumption at the water intake point where the pump will be installed.
  • Maximum permissible water temperature. Depending on this indicator, it is determined whether the pump will be installed for cold or hot water supply.
  • Dimensions of the device. You need to know them in order to determine in which section of the water supply the pump will be installed.
  • Manufacturer. It is recommended to give preference to well-known companies with due authority and numerous positive reviews.

In this case, you can count on guarantees, maintenance and repairs.

First of all, the pump is selected based on the indicator of the outlet pressure, which should reach 4 bars. When choosing a high-pressure pump, the presence of automation or manual control can be decisive.

Connection diagram

The connection diagram for the pressure boosting device is simple. The pump must be installed in front of the water intake points. Thus, as soon as he senses a slight movement of water, the flow sensor will react and the pump will turn on. To create a system that will provide all the devices in need with stable pressure, you will also have to first think about the distribution of water. Installing the pump at the correct point will allow you to limit yourself to one device serving all water intakes.

If in a private house required pressure is absent in the rooms of the upper floors, then you should think about using a pumped storage membrane tank maximum possible volume and high pressure pump. An increase in flow will lead to the activation of the pump, which, in turn, will serve the system on all floors. Such a pumping station operates in automatic mode. Its main element is a self-priming centrifugal pump. Even if the pressure in the pipes is at zero, it will raise water from the required depth, for example, from the basement collector, and create the required pressure. The pressure switch will be responsible for turning on the electric motor only in a situation when the head is below the required level. The storage tank will create a certain amount of water. It will also be under pressure and will be consumed if the water supply to the line is interrupted. Following this scheme, the pumping station will raise the water upward and provide the required pressure.

In a multi-storey building, it is recommended to create a similar system, but with high capacities, with a huge reservoir and using the funds raised from residents around the entire riser. The basement houses a pressurized supply of water, required amount which every resident will receive.

How to install?

It is very simple to install a pump to increase pressure with your own hands - the installation is no different from inserting other devices into the pipeline. The first step is to shut off the water supply. If there are common valves that are located outside the territory of the apartment, then you should take care that they do not accidentally open. At the selected section, a pipe is cut and a pump is inserted into the freed space, which has two taps: at the inlet and at the outlet. If necessary, they will allow you to replace or repair the device. During installation, it is also important to consider which direction the water usually moves.

External threads are also created at both ends of the pipe, while adapters have internal threads. The adapters are also provided with fittings.

Then, depending on the material from which the pipes and the riser itself are made, technologies are applied for connection. For example, a soldering iron is required to work with polymer pipes. Then the integrity is checked, and the control procedures are carried out under pressure and the motor is connected to the power supply. For this, a three-core cable is laid connecting the pump with electrical panel... If possible, it is better to organize an additional outlet near the installation site and connect the device through a separate residual current device. After a final check in run mode, you can end the procedure.

As a rule, the installation of the pump is carried out according to the instructions that were originally attached to it.

If a certain model can be mounted only in a certain position, this condition will certainly be indicated.
