Layout of a corner kitchen with a wall-mounted boiler. How to hide a gas boiler in the kitchen? How to close a parapet gas boiler

90% of modern private houses and cottages are equipped with boilers individual heating. This allows owners to heat their homes at any time of the year and feel completely comfortable. There are many models of heating boilers, each of which has certain requirements. One of these requirements is the choice of location for equipment. Most often, the choice is made in the kitchen, since in a private house this room is quite spacious and has connections to the necessary communications. But besides convenience, owners are wondering how to design the interior of a kitchen in which a heating device is installed.

Modern designers work not only on the design of premises, but also on improving the appearance of various household appliances. Current heating equipment is produced in a wide range color scheme, has small sizes and elegant appearance. Thanks to this, an individual heating boiler in the kitchen can easily fit into the interior design of the room.

IN trading network black, white, and façade models are widely available metallic color, as well as with artistic painting. Such original models in the photo can be used not only for heating, but also for decorative decoration premises, selecting equipment similar in color to the kitchen set. If you already have an individual heating boiler installed, you can decorate it by painting or applying artistic painting.

Attached heating equipment

If the kitchen interior with a boiler does not look aesthetically pleasing, it is recommended to build a special box for the appliance. It is important that the niche is larger than the heating device. This is necessary for the correct functioning of the equipment. There must be a gap of at least three centimeters between the walls of the niche and the body of the device. In addition, the shelf itself should not have a top, back or bottom wall. The side parts of the casing must be covered with a heat-resistant material.

Note that most often this option cannot be implemented in practice. Since the existing kitchen units are not designed to accommodate heating appliances. Therefore, it is recommended to purchase a custom-made headset. In this case, it is necessary to think over a niche not only for an individual heating boiler, but also a special housing for hiding communication pipes and wires.

If you don’t have enough money to purchase a custom-made set, you can decorate the design of a kitchen with a boiler with an ordinary furniture case. It makes it possible not only to hide the heating device and all communications, but also allows you to place some dishes, containers and other kitchen utensils. In this case, it is recommended to equip the pencil case with two doors: for the boiler and for the dishes department.

Kitchen design with corner boiler

Individual heating devices are often placed in the corner of the kitchen in the photo. To hide unsightly equipment, you can build corner cabinet, which will decorate the interior design and hide the heating device from prying eyes.

You can go the other way - buy a headset, household appliances and heating device in one color palette. Then the boiler located in the corner of the room will not be noticeable.

What about communications?

Agree, hiding a heating device is not enough. In order for the kitchen to have an attractive appearance, it is important that gas, water pipes and electrical wires are hidden from public view. At the same time, you need to remember that communications cannot be hidden in walls.

A gas boiler in the kitchen is a useful element, because it allows you to significantly save on energy resources. But when it comes to repairs, there is a need to camouflage the equipment, because... The speaker does not always fit well into the interior.

It is especially difficult to decide how to hide a gas boiler in the kitchen if the device is of an old type. Modern speakers are more compact and look more attractive.

Replacement of old gas equipment is possible only by professionals from the gas service. You will have to pay a lot for the services - from 4,000 thousand rubles and above.

In some cases, there is no need to hide the device. And according to safety rules, an open boiler is the best solution.

Depending on the type of equipment, you can solve the problem in another way. One of the options is in this video:

Examples of successful camouflage

Methods for designing the unit and communications in the kitchen interior can be divided depending on the type of gas equipment in your kitchen in an apartment with autonomous heating, a house or a cottage. May be:

  • with closed burner;
  • with open burner.

With a closed camera - the most common and safest option. IN apartment buildings This is the type that occurs. It can be hidden behind doors wall cabinet or pencil case, install in a niche.

Attention! Valid options The instructions for the equipment can tell you the location. There you can see the requirements for distance from pieces of furniture.

1. In a wall cabinet

The boiler is located above the sink. The bottom of the mezzanine is open.

In this case, it is necessary to take care of the free flow of air to the unit. To do this:

  • it is impossible to make a close connection between the walls of the boiler and the walls of the cabinet,
  • The speaker cannot be placed in a closet. Upper and bottom part must be left completely open.

This placement option is not the most successful, because... lower and upper part not fully open. But depending on the type of equipment, such an arrangement may be acceptable and comply with safety regulations. See the instructions for the device or consult with gas specialists.

A good idea is to hide the column behind lattice facades. Then there will be a free flow of air.

2. In the pencil case

Installing equipment in a pencil case in the kitchen solves two problems at the same time - masking the device itself and its communications.

The boiler is in the closet by the window.

3. Headset in the niche

To ensure that the boiler does not stand out in the kitchen interior, you should purchase a set that matches the unit or buy a speaker with a beautiful panel.

In some cases, even in contrast, it does not violate the design.

4. In the corner

The niche at the sink can be advantageously used for installing a boiler. A hanging row of a headset with a corner arrangement, as in the photo below, can also hide the unit.

5. Masking the boiler to match the color of the kitchen walls

If you already have a boiler and you are not going to change or paint it, then you can fit it into the interior by painting the walls to match it.

6. Disguise with the color of the headset

This idea is relevant if you order a set with a ready-made niche for equipment.

In a loft or other style, with industrial motifs, a column with an open ventilation pipe will meet the design rules.

7. In the closet

You can build a garage for gas equipment yourself, taking into account all safety requirements.

8. Painted decor

This method can be relevant for any style:

  • with rustic motifs;

  • in cafe, bar, loft styles.

Because aesthetics is a secondary matter, and safety comes first, it is important to briefly highlight the requirements from SNiP 02/31/2001, 01/31/2003.

5 rules for safe installation and camouflage

Requirements for installation of a gas boiler

  1. It can only be carried a short distance.

It is possible to move it to a corridor or other room if it meets the other requirements listed below.

The cost of transfer will be rather high. And the likelihood that they will agree on the transfer old column, very small.

  1. The premises must be non-residential. There must be a door and a window.

The door should not close tightly so as not to prevent air from entering. Convection channels are also made in cabinets when a boiler is built into furniture.

The equipment is hidden in a case with holes for free air penetration.

The window is needed for the same purposes - free air circulation.

You cannot install a gas boiler in the kitchen-living room, because living room - living room. Keep this in mind if you want to break the partition.
It is also forbidden to install boilers on loggias.

  1. The kitchen area is at least 9 square meters, and the ceiling height is from 2 m.

This is necessary for the device to work properly, because... Equipment needs air to burn.

  1. The boiler must be located near non-combustible materials.

Therefore, the best thing you can do for the safety of your apartment is not to close the boiler at all. Manufacturers take this point into account and offer speakers with decorative panel wood effect, with photo printing, etc.

You can paint the boiler yourself to match the color of the furniture or walls, or do a decorative painting.

  1. Kitchen hoods and gas device must be independent.

Combining two ventilation channels is excluded.

How can and cannot hide communications?

It is forbidden:

  1. hide pipes in grooves;
  2. close with a permanent box made of plasterboard and other materials without free access to the valve.

Can:

  1. hide the pipes behind a decorative panel with an opening door;
  2. close the communications with a decorative removable box. Such casings are already sold in finished form in construction stores.

Choosing a camouflage method for your kitchen with gas boiler, you must definitely follow the rules listed above if you do not want, at a minimum, to receive a fine, or, at a maximum, to suffer as a result of an accident due to non-compliance with safety regulations.

Boiler in the kitchen: installation requirements and 3 methods of decoration

About four years ago, during a renovation, we were faced with the question of how to hide a gas boiler in the kitchen without breaking any rules or requirements. We solved it.

And now, choosing new home, I understand that this problem will be relevant again, only you will have to mask not a unit standing on the floor, but a unit hanging on the wall with a bunch of tubes. Surely many have already had or will yet encounter something similar, so a story about the types of gas heating boilers, the rules for installing them in the kitchen and ways to “make it beautiful” will be useful to someone.

Conditions for installing and decorating gas heating equipment in the kitchen

Our current boiler is hidden in a fairly loose plasterboard alcove that has no door. It was impossible to do otherwise, since this is equipment with an open combustion chamber.

Most likely, the boiler with a closed burner will have to be improved, and not just in the kitchen, but in the kitchen-living room. And here completely different standards apply.

But first things first.

General requirements

In general, the rules for installing gas boilers are regulated by SNiP 31-01-2003 and 31-02-2001. But I will try to present them in simple “human” language.

  • There is one general rule: Regardless of the type of equipment, it can only be installed in premises that are considered non-residential according to current SNiP. The living room is not one of them, so developers often get around the ban by calling the kitchen combined with the living room a kitchen-dining room. The dining room is a non-residential premises.
  • Presence of a door. The room in which it is installed gas equipment, must be separated from living rooms. It, in turn, should not have a threshold so that air can circulate freely throughout the house. Or a special convection channel is built into it.

  • The kitchen window should be equipped with a window for the same purpose - to ensure air circulation. With the advent metal-plastic windows gas services have become more accepting of their absence if the window has a mechanism that allows it to be opened for ventilation.

  • Quantity window openings . To ensure good natural lighting in the room with the boiler, each cubic meter must have at least 0.03 sq.m. window opening area excluding frames and partitions.

As for the rules for building equipment into furniture and other attempts to disguise it, they differ depending on the type of equipment. But in any case, aesthetics should be in second place after the safety of its operation.

Boilers with an open burner and 3 options for their decoration

Convection equipment with an open combustion chamber can be installed in the kitchen, but it is not advisable - it is better in the boiler room. And hiding it while complying with all security requirements will be problematic, if not impossible. Here the main document that you will have to rely on will be the instructions for the boiler.

Installation requirements are::

Image Rules

Room area.

Since the boiler needs air to burn, which it takes from the room, the minimum kitchen area should be 9 square meters. m, and the ceiling height is 2.5 m.

Free air access.

Hide it in a closet or closed niche is strictly prohibited, as this will limit air access to the burner and create emergency operating conditions.

Chimney device.

Such equipment requires the installation of a vertical chimney with a pipe height sufficient to maintain draft.

Separate hood.

In a kitchen with such a boiler there must be a separate hood for it, which cannot be combined with a common hood - a separate duct is needed.

Good air exchange.

The air exchange in the room when the equipment is running must be at least 200 cubic meters per hour.

Such heat generators are most often of the floor type, less often of the wall type. Both of them do not look good in the interior in the best possible way, unless the boiler is made in techno or loft style. Therefore, you always really want to hide them somehow.

This can be done, but only on the condition that the air flow to the equipment will be unimpeded in the volumes specified by the manufacturer. As well as access to it for maintenance and repair. What are the possible options?

Option 1 - decorative design of the external panel

  • This is painting, painting, decoupage, etc.. There are many ways to modify and decorate it with your own hands. If you choose a paint or pattern that matches the kitchen unit, it can turn out well.

  • Decorative front panel. It’s easier, but more expensive, to buy a modern boiler from famous manufacturers, producing models with a decorative front panel.

Option 2 - installation in a decorative box or cabinet

Before ordering furniture for the kitchen with the intention of placing a boiler in one of the modules, carefully read the instructions for it again and get clarification from the gas service employees.

Otherwise, there is a high probability that at the first inspection you will be required to dismantle all this beauty. And this is even the best option. At worst... well, you know what happens when gas appliances are used incorrectly.

The main requirements include:

  • Providing air access, for which the cabinet is made without a bottom, lid, back wall and with “holey” facades. It may be perforated metal plate or a grille made of any materials, the design of which matches the style of the furniture;

  • Distance from boiler walls to walls the cabinet and its facades must be specific, it is indicated in the technical documentation or installed by employees of regulatory authorities;
  • Doors should open easily, and, if necessary, removed, like the entire structure covering the equipment;

  • Security fire safety - this is one of the main points. It is achieved by covering the inner walls of the box with fire-resistant materials.

But even if all these requirements are met, obtain permission to install the boiler in furniture cabinet not always possible.

Option 3 - installation in a niche

It’s good if there is a natural niche in the kitchen and the boiler stands or hangs in it - it is not so conspicuous. But you can do it yourself using metal frame and sheets of drywall.

This is what we did when deciding how to close the underfloor heating equipment. I’ll show you how it was and how it turned out, but I immediately apologize for the quality of the photographs - they were not intended to be shown to anyone.

Images Description

This is how it was in the beginning - everything is in plain sight.

The advantage is that the boiler is in the corner, it is easy to hide.

The frame is made of metal profiles and is assembled using metal screws.
Here it is already lined with plasterboard and wallpapered on the outside.

From a different angle. The kitchen itself is shaped like the letter L, so even the niche itself is not visible from the entrance.

On the other side of the partition there was a refrigerator and a pencil case.

Now the cauldron can only be seen by coming close to it.

Therefore, we did not design the opening into the niche in any way. But if you wish, you can close it with a lattice door or blinds, but they must always be kept with the slats half-open.

I repeat once again: if you don’t have any boiler yet, you shouldn’t buy one with an open burner. There is too much hassle with it if you want to hide it. Yes, its price is lower, but you will either have to spend money to fulfill all the conditions, or come to terms with the fact that it will constantly be an eyesore.

Boilers with closed burner

Such equipment is less demanding for installation and camouflage. At the same time, in itself it often looks much prettier, fitting perfectly into the interior of the kitchen without any tricks in the form of decoration or integration into furniture. Judge for yourself:

You can choose a boiler with a closed combustion chamber from two types - turbocharged or condensing. What they have in common is that the rules for installing a gas boiler in the kitchen do not prohibit them from being built into a kitchen unit or installed in a closed niche.

And all because for combustion they do not need to take air from the room - it enters the burner through a coaxial chimney that has two circuits. Exhaust gases are discharged through the inner pipe, and air enters through the outer pipe.

  • Turbocharged boilers installed in rooms with an area of 6 sq.m. Their main disadvantage is the noise produced by fans pumping air into the combustion chamber.

  • Condensing boilers form during operation, so they must be connected to a sewer system to remove moisture. They are most often used in cases where a water heated floor is installed to heat a house.

These heat generators, unlike the previous ones, need to be connected to the electrical network, as they are controlled automatically.

To minimize manufacturing and fitting costs kitchen furniture, you need to think in advance where to place them. It is advisable to do this as close to the chimney as possible.

What to do with pipes

Requirements for installing boilers also include rules for connecting pipes to them - gas, water, smoke exhaust, and in the case of convection equipment, sewer.

As for chimneys, they are discharged vertically from atmospheric units with an open combustion chamber. A coaxial chimneys boilers with a closed burner - horizontally through the outer wall.

All other pipelines, especially gas ones, are strictly prohibited from being laid in grooves or covered with permanent structures. They must be freely accessible at any time.

However, there are several ways to hide pipes from heating devices.

  • Close with decorative boxes. You can buy them in a variety of designs, or you can make them yourself from scrap materials.

  • Conclude in plasterboard box and finished with the same material as the kitchen apron or adjacent walls. But the box must be removable or hatches must be installed in it opposite the taps and valves.

  • Integrate with the boiler into the kitchen furniture. That is, design the cabinets in such a way, making holes in them in the bottom and side walls, so that when the doors are open, access to the pipes is free.

Conclusion

Looking at finished new houses with gas heating boilers, sometimes you are simply horrified by how out of place they hang, and how many different pipes lead to and from them. You immediately begin to think about how to hide the boiler in the kitchen, especially if it is combined with a living room or dining room.

As we have seen, this can be done. But first of all, you need to think about your own safety and the safety of your home, and only secondly - about how it all will look. Therefore, before you start doing anything, you need to carefully study the technical documentation for the equipment. And make sure that your idea meets safety requirements.

If you want to express gratitude, add a clarification or objection, or ask the author something - add a comment or say thank you!

Some of us prefer heating our apartments and houses autonomous systems heating, the main component of which is a gas boiler. Most often, this equipment is installed in the kitchen, and many owners want to hide it inside furniture cabinets so as not to spoil the interior of the room. Is it possible to implement what we have planned and how to do everything correctly? This article will give you some tips and tricks on this matter.

First, it should be noted that today the industry produces a huge number of types and models of gas heating boilers. Moreover, the product range is regularly updated with improved, more economical and safe new products. Units have appeared that have closed combustion chambers, condensing boilers with a multi-level security and self-diagnosis system. The most common are parapet and wall heating boilers. Also, in some cases, in housing where there is no supply hot water, install only geysers to heat it.

As a rule, for country cottages and houses located in the private sector, this issue is not so acute, since in such buildings the owners have the opportunity to install such boilers and water heaters not only in the kitchen, as is most often the case in multi-storey buildings. Therefore, problems with this kind of camouflage arise mainly only for a certain category of residents of city apartments. However, some homeowners are also not against such improvements, so our advice will be equally useful for everyone who has thought about the possibility of such a “disguise” of a gas boiler.

How safe is it to place a boiler inside furniture?

First of all, it is necessary to consider safety issues, because the operation of all this equipment requires increased precautions. If you are just planning to purchase a boiler, then you need to consult with managers before purchasing and study the technical documentation with them. Also in mandatory You should talk to specialists who will first install and then service your boiler. Gas services are very attentive to such events, strictly ensuring that there are no significant violations. Therefore, it is not recommended to do anything on your own.

When designing such a cabinet, you must remember the following requirements:

  • furniture should not interfere with your quick, unhindered access to the boiler;
  • the technician performing scheduled maintenance should not experience any difficulty in removing the casing, inspecting all important components and replacing some parts if necessary;
  • it is necessary to ensure an air flow to the boiler in the volumes specified in the technical passport;
  • you should be able to quickly dismantle all the furniture covering the unit yourself;
  • the distance to the nearest side posts must correspond to the dimensions indicated in the technical documentation;
  • The fire safety of this design should not raise any doubts.

Only after making sure that all the requirements are met can you begin designing a custom kitchen or remodeling finished furniture. In any other case, it is better not to take risks. Beauty, of course, requires sacrifice, but not like this.

Is it possible to cover a wall-mounted gas boiler with factory furniture?

Solving this issue in this way turns out to be quite problematic, since there may be some discrepancy between the dimensions of the kitchen wall cabinets and the boiler itself. If there are no problems with the height and width, then the depth of the heating unit forces many to abandon this idea, since this size of kitchen modules varies in the range from 280 to 320 mm, most often it is 300 mm. Such a depth of the cabinet means that the fronts will either not be able to close at all, or will be located close to the casing, which is also very bad - there should be a gap of approximately 20-30 mm. Most often, with the help of ready-made factory-made furniture, it is possible to disguise a water heating column, which has smaller dimensions than heating boilers.

Let us dwell on the fact that the depth of your heating and water heating unit allows you to hide it inside the kitchen furniture. What will it take? First, avoid one of the most common mistakes. Many people try to choose a module with such a width that there are small gaps between the walls, believing that this is quite enough. However, as mentioned earlier, such compactness will interfere with servicing the boiler and negatively affect its operation. Considering that the height of the column is on average about 700 mm, and the width is 450 mm, a cabinet with dimensions 720x900x320 can be considered an ideal hanging module suitable for these purposes; in extreme cases, you can use furniture with a width of 800 mm.

Method No. 1

To remodel this furniture you will need:

  • jigsaw with a file for chipboard;
  • flexible C-shaped edge profile edge;
  • furniture hinges with CLIP mechanism;
  • furniture ties;
  • plastic glass holders;
  • decorative grilles made of wood or MDF;
  • copper-plated nails 25 mm long.

It was not previously mentioned that the cabinet should be equipped with display facades into which decorative grilles will be inserted. By the way, in this case it is best to purchase a second drying cabinet; it is often equipped with these components, and you do not have to look for suitable material in stores.

Before starting to assemble such a module, it is necessary to redo the upper and lower stationary shelves. They need to be marked and cutouts in these parts made with a jigsaw. Moreover, the laminated chipboard body must be left just enough so that it allows you to assemble the module, the more free space around the heating boiler, the better the air circulation will be in the future. After working with a jigsaw along the cutting line, you can find chips in the laminate. To hide them, and at the same time give the end part of the resulting parts a more aesthetic appearance, they should be covered with a flexible C-shaped profile. You can secure it by nailing it with copper-plated nails. Some people use Liquid Nails glue for these purposes, but in this case it is better to resort to the first option - it is both faster and more practical. Moreover, this side of the shelves will be turned towards the wall, and no one will ever see the small heads of the carnations.

You should immediately screw new pads from furniture hinges to the side posts of the hinged module - this will make it much more convenient to hang the facades. If desired, you can cut two strips from the fiberboard back wall, which will be nailed along the edges, but it is better to limit yourself to four small triangular pieces - this is enough to give rigidity to the body. Once the cabinet is suspended and connected to adjacent modules using furniture ties, all that remains is to secure the decorative grilles using plastic glass holders and self-tapping screws and snap the doors onto the previously screwed blocks.

Method No. 2

Sometimes the depth of a wall-mounted gas boiler is almost the same as that of the cabinet, which makes it impossible to cut out the contours of the boiler in the shelves. In this case, you can abandon the usual method and solve the problem a little differently. Since we are more concerned with the attractive appearance of the facade, we don’t have to install the bottom and roof at all - they are most often practically invisible anyway. Therefore, our main task at this stage of remodeling the kitchen set is to just hang furniture facades with decorative grilles. Let's look at what needs to be done to make this happen.

In principle, this is all very simple to do, you just need to take this type of work seriously, be careful and careful. The essence of this method is to attach the doors to the side posts of two cabinets hanging on either side of the gas boiler. From the accessories you will need to purchase four internal furniture hinges with a CLIP mechanism. These two upper kitchen modules should be hung strictly level so that at any place the distance between them is equal to the width of the two facades. If there is a discrepancy in any place due to misalignment, then adjusting the doors will be very difficult. After the cabinets are in place, all that remains is to hang the facades with bars.

For various reasons, not everyone likes internal hinges; this is due to their installation, subsequent adjustment of facades, and the presence of additional gaps. There is another way that allows you to get by with the usual furniture canopies. You need to attach them to the racks of adjacent modules using furniture ties. side walls from the disassembled cabinet and screw the hinge pads to them. This is done very simply: one part is applied to another so that their edges completely coincide, then they are pulled together with clamps and drilled in three places with a drill with a diameter of 5 mm, coupling bolts are inserted into the holes and tightened.

In both cases, our design will require slight improvement. The fact is that due to the lack of shelves, the facades will close further than expected, resting against the boiler casing. To avoid this contact, which is extremely undesirable, you should screw in special small stops that prevent further movement of the door, since furniture hinges do not have a mechanism that fixes the facade strictly at a right angle.

Here, in fact, we examined the two most simple ways, allowing you to hide wall-mounted heating boilers inside a factory kitchen set. Subject to availability the necessary tool and a little skill, all these actions can be performed independently. Naturally, such recommendations are not applicable in all cases, but in some situations they may be useful.

What changes need to be made to a custom kitchen project to hide the boiler?

With custom-made furniture, things are much simpler. You are not so dependent on the dimensions of gas heating boilers, having the opportunity to order a kitchen that has cabinets with sizes suitable for each individual case. In addition, the location of the heating device is no longer so important; it can be fixed in the middle of the wall, in the corner of the room, as well as under the window sill, where parapet boilers are usually mounted - all of them can be covered with custom-made furniture.

First of all, let's consider options with wall-mounted gas units. If in the case of factory furniture only partial camouflage was possible, then in this situation it is possible to hide the boiler itself, the smoke exhaust pipes, and all communications supplying water and gas. It is also possible to design a set that respects the proportions, and the wall-mounted module in which the boiler is hidden will not stand out from the rest of the cabinets. As in the case described above with factory furniture, it will be necessary to follow the requirements specified in the technical documentation, maintaining the distance to the nearest objects.

Employees of organizations that produce custom-made furniture have most likely repeatedly encountered the production of similar kitchen sets, so they have some experience. But it will be better if the client also has some knowledge in this area in order to be able to jointly draw up the most suitable project. Since the choice of materials and furniture fittings in this case is much wider, you will have much more opportunities.

The best option can be considered the second method, described for factory furniture. Only thanks to the variety of accessories and individual approach to design we can do in in this case Our design is more advanced. Again, you don’t have to make a separate module, but make do with two adjacent cabinets. Since an adjustable suspension is used to secure them to the walls, ensuring the correct position in all planes for such furniture will not be at all difficult. Thanks to the use of semi-overlay hinges, it will be possible to avoid the use of additional side posts.

As in the situation with ready-made kitchen It is better to completely abandon the upper and lower stationary shelves. But if you think that they are still necessary, then you can use rafixes to fix them on the side racks of adjacent modules. This installation method makes it possible to both quickly install them and easily remove them if necessary. Moreover, you can do this yourself; all you need is a screwdriver.

How to close a chimney

As a rule, when installing a wall-mounted heating boiler, a hole is made in the wall, to which a pipe made of heat-resistant plastic is connected; if the temperature of the exhaust combustion products is higher - this is the norm for older models, then stainless pipes are used. Such chimneys also need to be closed, just carry out this event necessary taking into account some requirements:

  • furniture should not come into contact with pipes;
  • to the smoke exhaust duct should be provided with quick and unhindered access;
  • recommended to use thermal insulation material separating furniture from the pipe;
  • the entire structure must be well ventilated.

Typically, a wall-mounted boiler is located near the window, so the pipe length rarely exceeds 600-800 mm. This means that it is quite enough to adapt only 1-2 hanging cabinets, and all other furniture is made according to standard drawings. Most often in such cases, the upper tier of the kitchen unit consists of two individual parts, which are connected to each other by means of furniture ties. The first row of suspended modules is several centimeters higher than the boiler and is equipped with hinged facades that open horizontally. The height of the upper buildings is 250-300 mm, they have doors equipped with lifting mechanisms that open upward. The same cabinets that are designed to hide the chimney duct from our eyes have a small depth of 70-100 mm, they do not have a back wall, and the same decorative grilles are installed on the facades as below.

Thus, without resorting to making too much complex design, we get spacious, functional furniture that is easy to install and easy to dismantle if necessary. This is especially important for modules covering pipes. If necessary, they can be removed in just 2-3 minutes by unscrewing about 5 tightening bolts. Since this furniture has a very small mass, all actions can be done by one person.

What to do if the boiler or gas heater is located in the corner of the kitchen

Often, the presence of a special ventilation duct in the house allows you to place a heating boiler or water heating column in the very corner of the kitchen. Then they are closed in a regular corner module with a beveled straight facade. Moreover, if a 650x650 mm module with one door, the width of which is approximately 450 mm, is sufficient for the column, then a gas boiler will require more space. A cabinet with dimensions of 800x800 mm and two facades with decorative grilles is suitable for it. Sometimes it may seem that it is enough to highlight less space, but this is a misconception. Do not forget that all laminated chipboard parts must be located at a certain distance from this equipment, and specialists could easily inspect and service it.

In this case, the shelves are treated exactly the same as in all previous cases. They are either abandoned altogether, or they are attached to rafixes, having previously made the necessary cutouts. This time the area of the parts is much larger, so it is possible to remove more material, ensuring excellent air circulation inside the module. Furniture hinges should have a CLIP mechanism and be easily removed in a matter of seconds. The ventilation window is either inside such a module, if its height is sufficient, or a little higher, but even in this case it is practically invisible. Many people order kitchens with a canopy and decorative cornices that completely hide the smoke exhaust system.

How to close a parapet gas boiler

The desire to hide parapet heating boilers located under the window sill inside furniture occurs much less frequently among their owners. But sometimes people want to do it. This is mainly due to a special view of the interior of a given room; some believe that the boiler has a negative effect on it. But if we begin to perform such a task, then everything must be done technologically correctly, the furniture should not in any way affect the operation of the unit and threaten safety.

Since the boiler is located at the bottom, somewhere in the middle of the wall, it will close as a continuation of the bottom row of the kitchen unit. If the kitchen was originally designed to be straight, then with the changes you will end up with an L-shaped bottom. In the case where one corner already exists, after additions to the original design, you will have a U-shaped set. All these additional modules take up some space, negatively affecting the spaciousness of an already cramped room, and also reducing the overall spaciousness of the furniture. Therefore, you need to think carefully: is it worth doing?

If the decision is made in favor of making furniture that covers the boiler, then make sure that the required number of plastic or metal ventilation grilles. The design of this module itself is a slightly modified lower corner cabinet. One side of it is elongated and narrow, ending in a semicircular console. In this case, three pieces of facades with decorative grilles will be required, two of which are connected to each other by special furniture hinges.

Only when you are completely confident that the boiler, being inside such a structure, will not overheat, and you can easily get to the control panel and all the valves, can you begin to implement your plans. An additional guarantee of safety can be the use of a household built-in fan, which will improve the circulation of air masses inside this box.

When is it better to place the boiler in a pencil case?

Sometimes the heating boiler is installed away from the kitchen unit. It is connected to communications supplying water and gas, and a pipe for discharging combustion products - all this adversely affects the overall interior of the room. Some people cover the pipes with a plasterboard structure, but this only partially solves the problem. Therefore, you can try to solve this problem a little differently by ordering a special pencil case in order not only to hide the boiler and pipes inside this furniture, but also to be able to place some kitchen utensils on the shelves at the bottom of the cabinet.

There are several ways to make such a pencil case. The basic requirements for it are the same as in previous cases:

  • it should not interfere with boiler maintenance;
  • do not interfere with air circulation;
  • the pencil case must be stable;
  • it can be quickly and easily dismantled if such a need arises.

For such a cabinet, you should not order doors the full height of the module; it is better to divide them, making the lower part 713 mm high. The other facades of the kitchen unit have the same dimensions. In addition, experience shows that by opening the upper doors, you gain access to both the control panel and all the valves located immediately below the boiler. Whereas the lower compartment will be used only when it is necessary to remove or put back things stored there.

When the boiler is suspended almost in the very corner, and the gap between the wall and its body is less than 150 mm, the design of the canister is slightly modified. You should dispense with one side rack, attaching the bottom, shelves and a narrow laminated chipboard strip directly to the wall. Installation is carried out using rafixes, as well as other fastening fittings, which will allow you, if necessary, to disassemble this module in a matter of minutes.

Some clients, wanting the pencil case to look more modern and stylish, order sliding doors. This is the wrong decision; installing such facades will not allow you to fully open the opening. In addition, some systems do not allow you to quickly remove door leaves, how this can be done using furniture hinges with a CLIP mechanism. It is also recommended to use a double-leaf model of a pencil case, since too wide facades require a lot of space when opening them, which is not always possible in our kitchens.

How best to close pipes and valves

If the pencil case is able to hide both the boiler and communications, then in the case of installation heating equipment on the wall where the wall cabinets are located, the pipes must be somehow closed. They usually run from bottom to top along kitchen apron and spoil all the beauty of the headset with their appearance. There are several ways to decorate them. Your choice depends on the style of furniture and what material the kitchen apron is made of.

If you are just going to lay tiles on a working wall, and the boiler is already on the wall, and all communications are connected to it, then ideal solution The installation of a plasterboard box, the front part of which is attached with magnets or other fasteners, will serve the purpose. The result is a small U-shaped protrusion, having a depth of about 150 mm and a width of 300-400 mm. As noted, its side walls are permanently fixed, and the front panel can always be removed.

For kitchens made in the High-Tech style, it is recommended to use sheet stainless steel or perforated metal. The second option is preferable because it provides better ventilation. A casing with 3 walls is made from the starting material, and it is simply installed where necessary. To avoid scratching the countertop and boiler, its height should be 7-10 mm less than the distance from the working surface to the lower shelves of the upper tier of the kitchen set, and the edges should be neatly bent inward.

In the case when the apron was laid out before installing the boiler, and you do not have any tiles left to make a plasterboard box, then for classic models In kitchens, a small MDF cabinet is perfect. It will fit perfectly with the rest of the furniture, blocking communications. This module takes up no more space on the countertop than a metal casing or drywall with tiles. To shut off any valve, just open the doors. It is recommended to mount this structure on double sided tape or special furniture latches.

What decorative grilles can be used for facades covering the boiler?

When choosing this material, some difficulties may arise. The thing is that not every company that produces furniture facades from MDF produces grilles covered with exactly the same PVC film. This is due to the features technological process, you should not delve deeply into them, and also demand that the manufacturers of your kitchen set fully match the decors. In this situation, they still won’t be able to do this. Therefore, it is better to consider ways to get out of the situation.

For modern models For kitchens, perforated metal is perfect, which we considered as the source material for making the casing that covers the pipes. In this case, you will have a harmonious combination of grilles on the facades and boxes, all these elements will be located symmetrically, therefore overall design They are unlikely to damage the furniture.

Furniture fittings stores sell ready-made MDF gratings covered with impregnated paper that imitates the structure and color of different types of wood. But the number of decors for such products is limited. In this case, it will help to achieve harmony for your kitchen set good choice glass for wall cabinets with display cases. At huge selection glass that exists today, choosing decors in such a way that they fit harmoniously into both the set and the interior of the kitchen itself will not be difficult.

You can also try to achieve almost complete similarity of decors by applying paint and varnish to the grilles made of natural wood, they are also available for sale. They cost more, and the craftsmen will demand for high-quality execution work a decent fee. In addition to the increased cost, there is another negative point: not all MDF facades covered with PVC film will look great with such grilles. They are indispensable for doors made of veneered MDF.

In conclusion of the article, I would like to give one more piece of advice to those who are planning to cover the heating boiler with furniture. This event is best planned in advance, even before purchasing all the equipment and renovating the kitchen. Then you can achieve maximum compliance with safety requirements through minor modifications. If this moment was missed, the boiler has already been installed, and you are just going to buy furniture for the kitchen, then in no case should you close the boiler or heater yourself without obtaining permission from specialists.
