Metal roses. Metallic floriculture: forged roses

Metal jewelry never went out of style. Of course, you can buy them without any problems from craftsmen... But what could be more beautiful than a handmade metal rose, presented to a beloved woman, or a candlestick made with your own hands, presented to friends on the occasion of a family celebration?

How to make a metal flower?

The technology of making a metal rose is easy to master. You just need to show patience and male practical ingenuity.

To make metal jewelry by doing the work with your own hands, you will need a sheet of roofing iron, which is better to anneal to give plasticity and softness. Next, you need to mark out five star-shaped figures on the metal. Four stars have pointed petals, and the fifth is straight. The diameters of the circumscribed circles of pointed stars: 12 cm, 10 cm, two 6 cm each.The figure with straight petals has a diameter of 8 cm.

The next step is to make three mandrels cylindrical with base diameters - 1, 1.5, 2 cm.Material of mandrels can be wood hard rocks or metal. The cut out star is placed on a slab of solid wood or lead. The bezel is positioned along the line joining the center and tip of the petal. Light blows of a hammer bend around the metal of the petal around the mandrel. In this way, all the petals are processed. The smaller the sprocket diameter, the smaller the mandrel diameter must be taken for its processing.

Further - the mandrel with the end rounded end is placed in turn in the center of each sprocket and hit with a hammer. The sprockets should take on a neat bowl shape. With the help of round-nose pliers, at your discretion and desire, you need to bend the tips of the flower petals outward. Leave the tips straight on the inner sprocket with the smallest diameter. Processing should be carried out in such a way that after its completion all the sprockets fold easily into each other. Flowers made of metal artfully created with your own hands can be made not only in the form of a rose, but also in any other flower. It all depends on your desire and imagination.

Next step. Cut the veined leaves out of the metal. As a stem

you can take a thick wire. Place the blanks at the end of the stem and grab them for strength.

To make the flower complete colors it must be heated to red, cooled in oil and rinsed in gasoline. After all these procedures, the product will have a beautiful, very dark shade.

DIY metal candlesticks

A unique candlestick can be made using simple materials and tools:

  • a metal strip made of sheet 3 mm thick, 40 mm wide, 400 mm long and a strip of the same metal 20 mm wide and about 500 mm long;
  • a piece of metal sheet 2 mm thick with dimensions of 100 x 100 mm;
  • green paint;
  • hacksaw;
  • files - flat and round;
  • hammer;
  • drill with a drill 6 mm;
  • ruler, needle and core for marking;
  • for assembling parts.

Candlestick - sketch

The part of the bracket No. 1, which will be attached to the wall, is made of a strip with a section of 3 mm x 40 mm and a length of 400 mm. Along the edge of the workpiece, the ornament of your choice is applied with a round file. A hole is drilled in the strip for hanging onto the wall mount. The upper end of the strip can be bent with a hammer, holding the part in a vice.

A piece in the form of a circle is cut out of a sheet with a thickness of 2 mm for installing a candle. This detail can be decorated with a bowl-shaped flower in the manner described in the previous section. In the center round detail a hole with a diameter of 6 mm is drilled. Souvenirs made with soul and with their own hands require imagination and some skills when working with a locksmith tool.

Next, bracket No. 2 is made with a section of 3 mm x 20 mm and a length of about 50 cm. One end of it will then be attached by welding to bracket No. 1. The other end is cut lengthwise by 100-150 mm. The ends are folded back different sides, they are given an arched shape. The resulting candle bowl is installed on the resulting stand and grabbed spot welding to the stripes.

Now you need to think about how to attach the candle to the candlestick. For this purpose, you need to take a piece of a bar with a diameter of 8 mm and a length of 35-40 mm. One end of a 10 mm bar is machined to a diameter of 6 mm. At the second end on lathe or a sharp point is created with a file. The end with a diameter of 6 mm is inserted into the hole in the candlestick bowl.

After assembling all the parts, the candlestick is painted with enamel for metal in a dark green color or patinated. If you like handmade metal engraving as decoration, then the electro-chemical method, which is available to everyone, is the most.

Shaped lattices obtained by cold forging

How can you decorate your plot with imagination with your own hands? Figured lattices, gates, wickets. But if you use products obtained by the hot forging method, then such an improvement can result in a very decent amount. You can, of course, make all these structures from a 4 mm thick strip, bent with the help of primitive devices. However, the appearance of such grilles, as well as their reliability, leave much more to be desired.

The most optimal is the use of equipment that allows you to create parts from a rod with a cross section of 1 cm x 1 cm and 1.2 cm x 1.2 cm that simulate hot forged products. The resulting products are much cheaper than hot-forged ones, but they are also beautiful and reliable.

Various attachments in combination with for welding works make it possible to make real patterns from metal by working with your own hands: multi-way spiral curls, a rod or strip twisted along the vertical axis, volumetric parts that are used in the production of "three-dimensional" gratings.

Particularly impressive is the figure obtained from welded together square rods 6 mm x 6 mm. It's called a flashlight. By welding, you can get from bent way"" Details periodic patterns "boyar" and "wave".

With metal patterned parts obtained by methods cold forging and assembled, you can make gazebos, pergolas, decorations for the porch, stairs and awnings. Such curly metal products are perfectly combined with all architectural styles and are able to decorate any premises and personal plots.

DIY tin roses

Good afternoon, in this letter I will try to tell you the whole process of making a rose from tin, which can be an excellent gift for loved ones.

To create a rose from tin, you need a minimum of tools:

Pliers

Metal scissors

Pencil

If possible, a compass

Roses from tin step by step:

So, we need metal mugs - you can use roofing iron or simple cans... Cut out the mugs different diameters, approximately from 150 to 130 mm - a difference of 5 mm each, i.e. 150-145-140-135-130 ... You will need 5 of them - this is a blank for the flower itself.

Then cut two strips about 2.5 cm wide. One should be 110 mm long, and the other 125 mm - this is on the inner leaves of the flower.

Then we need a star - a fashionable four-pointed one. We cut it out of a circle with a diameter of 110 mm - this will Bottom part flower.

On a separate sheet of metal we draw and then cut out the leaves themselves - 1 single and one triple is enough ... I think it's better ... then we cut notches along the edges of the leaves - a real look of a real leaf appears ... and you can knock out the veins in the middle of the sheet with a simple screwdriver ...

Then we bend the stalk of the leaf inward - with pliers ... and we get a finished sheet ... Here - we need another piece of wire - it can be 6 in diameter - I make such ... and a piece of copper tube can be cut to cut the internal thread on one side for an M6 screw - this is to screw the whole harvested rose... the bud ... and on the other hand, we just solder it into the wire.

And so we cut out four-leaf flowers from the metal circles and squeeze each leaf as shown in the photo with pliers ... squeeze it into a vase and turn the edges a little - also with pliers ... then when everything is ready we insert all the baskets one into one and edit the folds of the leaves by eye ... then we drill a hole in the middle for a screw and twist it to the prepared tube - we solder the tube to the wire and fasten the leaves with a strip of metal prepared earlier ... - the edges can be soldered ... that's all ...

Anything that comes to mind can be made from such tinned roses - a hanger, a lamp, used to decorate a gate, etc.

The metallic rose is stylish decoration any interior. Such a flower will never lose its attractiveness, but made with your own hands, it will become an original gift to a loved one. Making such an unusual flower is quite simple. You just need to be patient, as well as the necessary tools.

What you need to make a rose from metal

To create a metal flower, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • smooth metal sheet, the thickness of which will be approximately 5 mm;
  • a steel rod for a rose stem with a diameter of about 10 mm;
  • anti-corrosion agent or engine oil for processing crafts.

Necessary tools to create jewelry:

  • grinder or grinding machine with two types of discs - for grinding and for cutting;
  • drill for working on metal with drills up to 1 cm in diameter;
  • pliers and pliers;
  • nippers;
  • welding machine;
  • gas-burner;
  • hammer and anvil.

It is better to make a flower outdoors or in a ventilated area. It is important to observe safety precautions when working with tools and metal. Providing everything the necessary conditions, you can start making a rose.

The process of making petals for a metal rose

To make a flower bud, we cut out at least four 10x10 cm squares from a sheet of metal. The more petals there are, the more magnificent and luxurious our rose will be. Using an ordinary felt-tip pen, we draw sketches of petals on the blanks, along which we cut them out with a grinder or grinder... You do not need to cut them to the very end.

Next, you need to give the blanks the necessary texture. For this we use a hammer and an anvil. With light hammer blows, flatten the edges of the petals on one side. The same must then be done with the future leaves of the stem.

To plant our petals on the stem, you need to make a special hole in their center. For this, you can use a drill or welding. Using a drill, drill a hole in the center of each petal equal in diameter to the stem of the flower. The application of welding consists in burning holes required diameter using the electrode of the welding machine. We do this carefully so as not to make the holes larger than necessary.

After the blanks of the petals are ready, we put them on a metal rod one by one and weld to it. We put the first blank for the petal on the rod, leaving about 2 cm from its end. Place the petals crosswise. When connecting the petals to the stem of the flower, try to melt the rod more, as the metal of the petals is thin and can burn out. We bend the lower petals down, forming the sepal of the flower.
To give our petals the desired shape, we use gas burner, with which we heat the product. Next, using the pliers, bend the central petals inward, and the rest around them. Having connected the petals, you need to slightly bend their edges.

Making metal rose leaves

In addition to the bud itself, it is necessary to supplement the stem of the flower with leaves. To do this, draw a sketch of future leaves on a metal sheet and cut them out with a grinder. We make small notches around the edges of the leaves and make them slightly wavy, so that it looks natural. We connect the finished leaves to the stem by welding.

In the same way, you can weld metal thorns to the flower stem, which are cut in the form of small triangles. If the stem is too long, you can cut it off with a grinder. Average length such a stem is usually 40 - 50 cm.

Rose treatment against corrosion

The final stages of creating a metal flower will be anti-corrosion treatment. If this is not done, the craft will lose its attractiveness over time. For these purposes, you can use varnish or paint spraying. It is very convenient to purchase special paint in a spray can, which can be silver or golden. It is conveniently and evenly applied to the product and dries quickly.

Another treatment method is to use unused engine oil. It is applied to a pre-heated product, processing all its elements. After that, the rose is heated again to remove excess oil. Using this method will give the flower a noble dark shade. An elegant souvenir is ready.

.
For the manufacture of this flower, the master used noble non-ferrous metals such as copper and brass, which over time become covered with a beautiful patina, which gives the product a more mysterious and aesthetic look. Glass rhinestones were also added to the petals, which shine and shimmer when the rays of light hit them.

Making flowers today is very developed in blacksmiths workshops, where beauty is forged from metal, but the guys from "Steampunk" do not lag behind and make no less unique flowers from copper and brass.
The blanks are cut and the necessary shape is given to them with a punsel, after which they are assembled into a single structure, the stem and leaves are added.

So, let's take a closer look at how the author created his flower and what exactly did he need for this?

The process of creating a metal flower with your own hands.

According to the author, there is nothing complicated in making a flower, and anyone who wants to have such a miracle at home can do it. Having made such a rose from copper and brass, then you can present it to your beloved wife, girlfriend, mother, grandmother, imagine how happy they will be from such a gift.

First of all, the master prepared all the tools necessary for the work, by the way, the author's punsel is an ordinary ball joint from a Zhiguli.

After that, a leaf-shaped blank is cut out of brass tin, like this.

And with the help of a punsel, a convex shape breaks through.

A hole is drilled at the ends of the petals for subsequent assembly.

Gathers in a bud.

Gives a wavy shape.

He takes a bolt and makes a cut at the top of it.

The edge of the brass plate is inserted into the cut and soldered.

Curled up into a roll.

And it pulls out a little by the edge, thereby slightly stretching.

The edges of the petals are folded.

After which the master proceeds to create a cavity in wooden beam, namely, with a punsel and a hammer, he pushes through striking a homemade tool properly.

I cut off the 2nd copper plate and preheated it with a burner, so the metal becomes softer and easier to process.

the copper blank is laid over the cavity in the bar and with the help of a punsel and a hammer the following manipulations are performed, blow after blow is given a shape.

The edges are trimmed.

It is inserted into each other.

Here is such a rosette obtained by the master. Beautiful, is not it?

Then you should create the basis for the flower, here the author takes such components.

Saws and picks up the necessary tubes.

Such a telescope is going)))

The resulting elements are soldered and then bored in a drill.

Holes are drilled in the main stem.

After that, the leaves are harvested, also from brass, cut out in shape and the pattern and relief are made through.

And with the help of super-glue, the rhinestone is glued into the resulting seat.

That's all. finished work you saw in the head photo. As you can see, the process of assembling a flower is quite simple and does not require complex tools and skills, and most importantly, the uniqueness of this product, which is very well appreciated today.
Do more creativity, develop your talent, create.

Blacksmithing technology allows you to craft a huge list of items. Both tools and household items. But there is one more direction - artistic forging when whole works of art are created. At the same time, various patterns, decorations and even flowers are made from metal.

A forged rose will be a great gift or a good training for your skills. How to make it, what techniques and methods exist - more on this later in our material.

If you look for information on making a rose flower from metal using a blacksmith's method, you can find many different techniques and receptions. The simplest of them are, in practice, locksmith work with a minimum of forging. But there are also methods when a rose is made from one single piece, using only blacksmithing technologies.

So, in what ways is a forged rose created?

Assembling from individual parts

To make a flower in this way, you need a minimum of metalworking skills. We need blanks: a bar of 5-6 mm and sheet steel 1-1.5 mm.

The blanks are cut from the sheets according to the template in the form of four interconnected petals. You will need 3 of them to get a completely voluminous flower.

Also, a cross is cut out from this sheet in the form of pointed four petals.

The next step is to take a rod, the end of which is heated and riveted. Then proceed to the assembly.

Four-lobed blanks are pushed onto the end of the rod and welded from the outside.

Each of the elements heats up and curls, gradually forming a flower.

After securing the first petal, all the others are threaded with a twig from the other end.

When all the petals are installed, they put on a cross, and the flower itself is heated and with pliers they give it the desired shape.

When the final finishing of the metal rose is completed, the flower needs to be burned and cleaned of traces of slag and burning. Additionally, you can work off the stem with thorns and make leaves. You should get the product as in the photo.

But this method is more metalwork-welding technology than the Kuznetsk one. After all, blacksmithing techniques are practically not used. However, the method is original and easy to implement. Especially for those who do not have the appropriate equipment. And how to make a rose from metal forging?

Forging

Forging a rose using this method uses all the skills of a blacksmith business and the corresponding tools.

In fact, the core technology is similar to the one described in the previous section, with the addition of core blacksmith operations.

You will need rolled stock in the form of a 6 mm rod and sheet steel 2-2.5 mm for blanks for the petals of a future flower.

The bar is heated at one end and the edge is thickened. This can be done by holding it in a vise and blowing from the end to form a thickening.

For convenient fixing of the petals in the circle of the thickening of the bar, you can make a groove with a chisel on the heated metal.

From sheet steel, blanks are cut in the form of petals and crosses in the same way as in the above method.

Each of the petals is preliminarily forged at the edges, having dispersed the metal. At the same time, you can still make the veins inherent in a natural rose.

Before assembling, you can make thorns on the stem. To do this, on the bar, using the landing technique, you need to make thickenings, which then, having fastened the stem in a vice, are formed into thorns.

They start assembling the flower from the prepared elements.

Each of the four-lobed parts is pushed onto a rod and welded. In this case, each element must be scrolled, making the desired shape. Also, after assembly, using pliers, give the product the desired volume and contours.

If there is a desire, then foliage can also be attached to the stem. Each leaf is produced by a blacksmith method from a sheet of steel 2 mm. A stalk is pulled from it, with which the element is attached to the stem.

At the end of the work, the flower is cleaned of slag and carbon deposits.

You can also make this type of finish, such as bluing. To do this, you will need to apply to the product thin layer unrefined oil and heat it in the oven until the applied ingredient is covered with a varnish crust.

As a result of such a blacksmith "floriculture", the following result should be obtained:

Forging from a single piece of metal

This is the most sophisticated way to make a forged rose with your own hands. To do this, you need a blank-rolled: a circle with a diameter smaller than the planned parameters of the flower.

The blank is heated and stretched to a smaller diameter, thus making a stem. However, a part is left untouched from the edge, a future rose bud will form from it.

The workpiece is clamped in a vice and notches are made on the cylinder with undercutting.

After that, petal parts are again prepared from sheet steel, as in the previous two technologies, which are planted on the stem from the chopped end. The formation of the bud is done in the same way, by fixing the element, heated and rolled, having received a closed bud.

When all three or four metal parts are installed on the stem, their petals are opened with pliers, giving the desired shape to the forged rose.

To make the manufacturing technology clearer, you can watch the following video tutorial:

In this video, only blacksmithing technologies for making a rose are perfectly shown.

Forged Rose: It is unusual, but enjoyable to write a review about a subject that will not bring you any practical benefit. There are many sites devoted to welding and forging, these are popular "male" topics on the Russian Internet. Masters tell and show from the bottom of their hearts - some about forged chairs, some about welding seams.

But everyone has and makes their forged roses, no one is alien to the craving for beauty and artistic creation... Forged flowers can be made for every taste, but the preparation and technology of their production are the same. We read, understand.

What materials will be needed:

  • For petals and leaves usually sheet metal is used. The thickness and type of metal is a matter of taste and choice of the master, but most often a sheet with an average thickness of 0.5 mm is taken. It can be cold rolling black metal, or it can take metal from the hood or fenders of the car - it is quite thin there - up to 0.8 mm.
  • For stems you need to find a suitable wire with a diameter of 5 mm or more, for options with spikes a knitting wire of 6 mm in diameter is more suitable - this work is more difficult. You can use rods with a diameter of 8 to 12 mm.

Schemes for forging a rose from metal.

You will need the simplest tools:

  • Welding machine: a semiautomatic device or an inverter with 2 mm electrodes is better at a current not exceeding 70 A.
  • Grinder or grinder, metal scissors, pliers.
  • Gas-burner.
  • Drill with drills for metal from 0.5 to 1.0 cm.
  • Unrefined or motor oil for finishing rose bluing.
  • Metal paints, if the rose needs to be painted.

Cutting without sewing, technical stages of work

Rose making process:

Making a solid forged rose.

  • From sheet metal we cut out four or five, if we want a bigger rose, square templates with a side length of 10 cm.In each square we draw a schematic flower with four petals, try to draw them symmetrical, but millimeter accuracy is not needed here. On the last square we draw a sepal that looks like a wind rose, exact symmetry is not required here either.
  • If you want to make a tea rose - wide open, with numerous petals, it is better not to be lazy and prepare templates in the following order:
  • Sepal is a five-pointed asterisk with a diameter of 7 - 8 cm.
  • The first outer blank of five petals with a diameter of 11 - 12 cm.
  • The second and third blanks have four petals with a diameter of 10 - 11 cm.
  • The fourth blank of three petals with a diameter of 10 cm.
  • The fifth is made up of four narrow petals with a diameter of 9 cm.
  • We cut out the blanks with metal scissors or, if available, with an angle grinder. We do not cut to the center of the figure.
  • We draw on metal a couple - three blanks for green leaves on the stem. The size should be different. We cut out the leaves with scissors or a grinder.
  • We take up the stem. If it is a rod, we shorten it to 40 - 50 cm.
  • We drill holes in the blanks to put them on the stem. The diameters of the holes and the stem blank must match. The rod or wire should fit tightly into the petals.
  • Welding stage: we weld the workpieces to the stem. Optimum thickness electrode - 3 mm, current from 70 to 100 A. The holes in the petals do not have to be made round, the main thing is that the stem touches them at least half of its circumference. In this case, the seam and the structure itself will be strong. You need to melt more twigs than petals - thin metal easy to burn through.

You need to plant the workpiece on the stem, starting with the sepal. The petals should be placed crosswise, two centimeters below the top of the stem. Each layer needs to be secured by welding - it looks like a puff pastry.

Metallic roses: finished products.

  • Now for the funnest and most artistic part of the job: shaping the rose petals! Bend the sepal leaves of the lower blank down. We turn on the gas burner and begin to gradually heat up the flat petals. At this stage, moderate heating is quite enough - you do not need to warm it red-hot. We wrap two petals with pliers, as if we wrap them in each other. We wrap the two remaining petals around the first two. This is how we work with each layer. At the same time, bend the tips of each petal outward - in opposite side... At this stage, it is important to have a "free" hand: the petals should be crooked, their bends in reverse side- uneven, serifs and risks - asymmetric. Only in this way will the flower turn out to be alive and real: there are no strict geometric shapes in nature.
  • We proceed to the leaves on the stem. We make small notches on each edge of the leaves. The leaves should not be flat, it is enough to bend them with your hands. We weld to the stem carefully at the welded points.
  • In principle, the rose is ready. But only in principle!

Artistic floriculture: design stage

The fact that it is necessary to clean up the traces of welding and take measures to protect against corrosion is understandable - it is not subject to discussion. But further design processing raises many questions. The fact is that blacksmiths and welding masters are happy to make metal roses and post videos with master classes and their photos on the Russian Internet. Everyone has their own technical findings and style of execution - roses with buds, fully opened, with and without thorns - great tips and step by step guides, choose any.

But with topcoat it's just a problem: our craftsmen have enough imagination mainly for bluing - processing the product with engine oil, followed by heating until a varnish film forms. Less commonly, varnishing or spraying is used. For some reason, our masters talk about painting a forged rose with colored paints in a whisper and with fear - after all, artistic stereotypes are still strong.

Meanwhile, modern design fashion for eclecticism in all applied directions gives freedom and great opportunities in the color and texture of metal flowers. But in any case, the forged rose will remain a special unique - the main flower of a huge army of blacksmithing and welding masters. Join in, make your rose.

Metallic rose is a stylish decoration for any interior. Such a flower will never lose its attractiveness, and made with your own hands, it will become an original gift to a loved one. Making such an unusual flower is quite simple. You just need to be patient, as well as the necessary tools.

What you need to make a rose from metal

To create a metal flower, you need to prepare the following materials:

  • smooth metal sheet, the thickness of which will be approximately 5 mm;
  • a steel rod for a rose stem with a diameter of about 10 mm;
  • anti-rust agent or motor oil for craft processing.

Necessary tools to create jewelry:

  • grinder or grinding machine with two types of discs - for grinding and for cutting;
  • drill for working on metal with drills up to 1 cm in diameter;
  • pliers and pliers;
  • nippers;
  • welding machine;
  • gas-burner;
  • hammer and anvil.

It is better to make a flower outdoors or in a ventilated area. It is important to observe safety precautions when working with tools and metal. Having provided all the necessary conditions, you can start making a rose.

The process of making petals for a metal rose

To make a flower bud, we cut out at least four 10x10 cm squares from a sheet of metal. The more petals there are, the more magnificent and luxurious our rose will be. Using an ordinary felt-tip pen, we draw sketches of petals on the blanks, along which we cut them out with a grinder or a grinder.

The application of welding consists in burning holes of the required diameter using the electrode of the welding machine.

To give our petals the desired shape, we use a gas burner, with which we heat the products.

The average length of such a stem is usually 40-50 cm.
