How to keep flowers in a vase for as long as possible? There are many enough effective methods, thanks to which you will be able to admire the delicate charm of fresh flowers for at least a few days longer.

And if you really want to, you can even try it, so that later you can plant it in your flower garden. If the flowers have not been preserved with chemicals to preserve their presentation, soon their cuttings will give roots, and you will have a new wonderful specimen.

So, having received a wonderful rose or a whole bouquet as a gift, you thought: how to keep it longer? After all, I really don't want to send such beauty to the trash can in a few days! First of all, remember that you do not need to immediately remove the flowers from gift wrapping... A special microclimate is created inside the package, which helps the plants adapt to new conditions, so it is better to leave the bouquet packed for at least a few hours and only then unfold it, if you do not like the type of gift wrapping.

You should not immediately put the flowers in a vase, first they need to be "given a drink" by dropping them for three hours in a bath of water at room temperature. In this case, the stems with leaves should be completely under water, and the flowers and buds - outside, otherwise they can rot from the ingress of water (just in case, wrap them with paper). Having a deep bucket at home will greatly facilitate the task.

You should not immediately put flowers in a vase, first they need to be "drunk" by dropping them for three hours in a bath of water at room temperature

To extend the life of roses:

  • during the "soldering" of flowers right in the bath under water, cut the stems by a couple of centimeters at an oblique angle and flatten the ends a little - so air jams will come out of the capillaries in the stems, and the roses will absorb water better;
  • remove the leaves that will be under water in the vase;
  • peel the lower part of the flower stems (four centimeters) from the bark;
  • it is advisable to choose a vase of such a height that two-thirds of the length of the stems are hidden under water;
  • v ceramic vases water stays fresh longer, since its walls do not allow light to pass through;
  • you can pour tap water into a vase, settled or boiled - the chlorine contained in it will not harm the plants, but, on the contrary, will prevent the reproduction of putrefactive bacteria;
  • water temperature in summer time can be cool and should be used in winter warm water;
  • you can additionally disinfect the water in the vase with an aspirin tablet, charcoal, a glass of vodka, a pinch citric acid or some silver product (do not accidentally pour it with water!);
  • add sugar to the water to replenish the carbohydrate reserves of the flowers - 20 grams will be enough per liter of water;
  • change the water at least once every two days, re-adding sugar and bactericidal agents, while the stems need to be washed running water and update the sections, and wash the vase thoroughly with soap and water;
  • keep a vase with a bouquet away from sunlight and drafts, in a cool place;
  • do not place flowers near fruits, as the ethylene released by the fruit has a detrimental effect on them;
  • Spray the plants daily with a spray bottle, being careful not to hit the center of the buds.

Flowers with fully open, down-turned leaves are not worth buying - they will wither very soon

If you know for sure that the roses from the bouquet have been treated with chemicals, you can safely drop dishwashing detergent or bleach into the vase - such chemicals will no longer harm the flowers.

Thanks to the tricks listed above, you will be able to significantly extend the life of flowers, but sooner or later they will still begin to fade. You can make them stand in the vase for a few more days with a drop of ammonia added to the water, or you can put the flowers in boiling water for five minutes and then put them in cold water. Another, more troublesome option: transfer the roses to a bathtub filled with cool water at night so that the flowers do not get wet. But this procedure will have to be done every night, as the plants will get used to the "water regime" and will feel uncomfortable in the vase.

If you buy flowers yourself, be sure to pay attention to the degree of their freshness: the leaves that border the flower heads are tightly adjacent to the buds. Flowers with fully open, down-turned leaves are not worth buying - they will wither very soon.

It is advisable to choose a vase of such a height that two-thirds of the length of the stems are hidden under water

Growing gorgeous roses in a flower garden, you most likely cut them into bouquets from time to time to decorate rooms in an apartment. In this case, you will need not only tips on how to save cut flowers, but also recommendations on the cut itself, because this largely depends on how long they will stand in a vase.

Here are the basic rules for pruning:

  • it is better to choose stems with buds that have already acquired a characteristic color and are about to bloom;
  • in densely doubled varieties, stems with "loose" buds are recommended for cutting, when the lower petals have already begun to open - very dense buds in a vase may not bloom, but simply wither;
  • do not cut more than three stems from one bush;
  • try not to crush or deform the ends of the stem when cutting, otherwise the moisture-conducting vessels will be damaged;
  • flowers should be cut with pruning shears or sharp knife;
  • the best time for cutting is early morning or late evening, when the plants contain maximum moisture and nutrients;
  • cloudy weather is good for cutting, but you should not cut roses during the rain, since the petals quickly deteriorate from moisture that gets on them.

Video on tips on how to keep cut roses fresh for longer

Cut flowers should be immediately brought into a cool room, and if you intend to present them to someone as a gift, put them in the refrigerator for a while, so they will retain their freshness longer. Keeping roses in a warm place speeds up the metabolism in plants, and they wilt much faster.

Otherwise, in order for the cut home flowers in the vase to last longer, they need to be looked after in the same way as the store ones.

Cut off the stems

Don't be lazy and cut off the stems. The easiest way to do this is with a pruner, but if you don't have one at hand, you can use a good pair of scissors or a sharp knife. The main thing is to trim at a 45 degree angle. Thus, the area of the cut surface will be larger, and it will be easier for flowers to "drink" water. After that, you need to remember to cut the stems every few days.

Remove leaves

Remove any leaves that will be immersed in the vase. Firstly, they take water from the buds, prevent the flowers from blooming, contribute to the fact that the flowers wither faster, and secondly, they simply rot in the water, stain the vase and are a source of bacteria, due to which plaque then forms on the walls of the vase.

Pour water

Of course, flowers will not last long without water. But it is also important to pour water at the correct temperature. Roses, for example, like cold ones, and stand well if ice cubes are added to the water. Other flowers like cool temperatures, never warm. Every 2-3 days, the water needs to be changed, and it is advisable to rinse the vase itself well. So do not use vases with a narrow neck (they are generally intended for some kind of decorative purposes, certainly not for flowers, because it is impossible to wash them, you will not be able to place a decent bouquet either. Why are they needed then? We do not understand).

Put it right

Cut flowers do not tolerate well sunlight, warmth and humidity. They are shown a cool room and shade. So don't place them on a window, next to radiators or vents, or next to fruit (it may look nice, but the flowers will wither faster). If there is a bowl of fruit (especially bananas) next to the vase, the flowers will wither faster. fruits give off ethylene gas.

How to extend the life of cut flowers

There are several ways to do this, and the most popular are:
  • Apple cider vinegar + sugar
  • Aspirin tablets
  • Bleach (with which we bleach linen)
  • Coins
  • Chrysalis (a flower supplement that can be purchased at any flower shop)
  • Fridge
  • Baking soda
  • Vodka

We will tell you about each method, because tested everything:

Apple cider vinegar and sugar

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar and 2 tablespoons of sugar to mix in water. Vinegar is supposed to kill bacteria and sugar to nourish flowers. Does not work!

Aspirin

The aspirin tablet should reduce the acidity level, which prevents the flowers from wilting. It works badly!

Bleach

One quarter teaspoon of bleach helps fight bacteria. He really fought, the water did not become cloudy longer, but it seems to us that it is easier to change the water.

Coins

Must act as an acidulant and fight bacterial growth. Flowers, surprisingly, bloom, but this does not affect the period of wilting.

Floral additives

Yes, they cost only 10 rubles, but they provide flowers with all the necessary substances, so this is one of the most correct ways.

Soda

Many people advise adding one quarter cup of baking soda to a flower vase and say that the bouquet will last longer and the flowers will be more fragrant. The method really works, flowers bloom faster and last longer.

Vodka

Just a few drops, but it helps keep flowers fresh. A good option.

Fridge

If you put the vase in the refrigerator every night (for about 8 hours), they will stay fresh and beautiful for the longest time. 10 days - guaranteed result.

results

Have you ever wondered why in flower shops keep bouquets in the refrigerator? It seems that The best way keeping them is cold. Not frost, but a temperature of 5-6 degrees. So if you are obsessed with the idea of keeping your bouquet as long as possible, put it in the refrigerator every night. If not, add some floral addition and toss a few ice cubes into the vase every day.

He did it! And despite the terrible "impracticality" of the gift, he still presented you with the desired flowers. How can you make this proof of love more pleasing to the eye? Woman`s Day gives advice to owners of luxurious bouquets.

General rules

  • All flowers brought from the frost must be slightly adapted to heat before being placed in water. Unfold the package and let the bouquet "warm up".
  • Water should be used at room temperature.
  • It is better to cut the stems under running water and a sharp knife, after cutting, immediately put the flowers in the water.
  • A vase with a bouquet should not be in the sun, draft and near heating appliances, otherwise even the freshest flowers will instantly wither due to intense moisture loss; the coolness for the bouquet is optimal.
  • If you want the buds to open as soon as possible, add ammonia or camphor alcohol to the water (1/2 teaspoon per 1 liter of water).
  • To prolong the life of the flowers, add a little ammonia(a few drops) or table salt (1 teaspoon per 1 liter of water).
  • Flowers that begin to fade can be brought back to life with sugar - 1 teaspoon per 1 liter of water.
  • The water should be changed regularly, cutting the stem by 2 cm.
  • The bouquet should be sprayed several times a day.
  • Plants with multiple flowers on the stem will live longer if you remove dried ones. In this case, all the buds will have time to open.

Now let's look at the features of individual flowers that can be found in February in flower shops.

Roses

Having presented an armful of scarlet roses, your young man presented you with a lot of trouble. As you know, the rose is very capricious, even with proper care it will only last a week. But beauty requires sacrifice. So:

  • Before putting the roses in the water, carefully break off all the lower leaves and thorns, and it is best to do this under running water.
  • Make the cut as long and oblique as possible.
  • In order for the water to better pass into the stiff stems, you can split the end of the stem with a knife (about 5-7 cm long) and crush it with a hammer.
  • Pour settled or boiled water into a vase, and so that the flowers are in the water half the length (or better, two-thirds).
  • Roses are very sensitive to air bubbles and bacteria that clog pores and make it difficult to absorb moisture, so prune them regularly and change the water.
  • For best preservation, add an aspirin tablet or a little sugar to the water (so that a 10% solution is obtained).

In order to extend the life of "frozen" roses at least a little, you need to put them in hot water... In this case, you can see how the flowers bloom, but, alas, they will stand, alas, only for a couple of days.

Freesias

A very moisture-loving flower, so make sure that the water level in the vase does not drop to a critical level. In this case, the maximum immersion height of the stem should be only 5 cm, otherwise it will start to rot.

Tulips

Tulips love very cold, sweetened water (1 teaspoon per liter of water). Ice cubes thrown into the water will only benefit them. Dip the tips of the stems in granulated sugar for 10 minutes before placing the flowers in the vase.

These flowers "drink" a lot of water, so you will have to add it once, or even twice a day (depending on the volume of the vase and the number of flowers).

To prevent the long stems of tulips from drooping, before placing the flowers in the vase, fix the stems by wrapping them with thick paper. And only in this form, place in a vase. After a while, the paper can be removed - the stems will stand strictly vertical.

If you want the tulips not to open longer, chop the sulfur from the match heads into the water.

Orchids symbidium

These flowers are sold in a test tube with a special solution, so that even without any care they can stand for 10 days. However, practice has shown that if a branch is divided into separate flowers and put in ordinary water, they will not wither and longer. Just make sure that no water droplets fall on the petals - otherwise brown spots may appear on them.

Irises

Irises love moisture, so you need to prune them under running water and put them in a vase immediately. At the same time, do not pour too much water, otherwise the stems may rot.

The water should be cold, you can even throw ice cubes into it. Cut up to 10 days.

Daffodils

Absolute individual farmers. The juice released from the stems of a daffodil is harmful to other flowers, so it is best to place them in a separate vase. Daffodils love cool water that needs to be changed daily. If you still want to combine these flowers, for example, with tulips, pre-keep the daffodils in a separate vase for 24 hours so that the poisonous juice comes out. And only after that, put the daffodils with tulips in clean water.

Anthurium

A wonderful "long-lasting" flower. Most often sold in a test tube with a solution. If you see that the cut of the stem turns brown, just trim it back.

Gerberas

Long stems of these bright colors very flexible, therefore, before making a bouquet out of them, the base of the flower is often wrapped with tape. It is unlikely that this method is able to extend the life of flowers. Therefore, it is better to buy unfixed stems and use the same straightening method as in the case of tulips (paper wrapping for several hours). Rub the slices with salt before placing the gerberas in the water. There should be no more than 4-5 cm of water in the vase.

Lilies

Surprisingly, this royal flower is absolutely undemanding to care for. It is enough to rinse the stems under running water and change the water every few days. Lilies will delight you up to 10 days.

Chrysanthemums

It is better to break off the stalk of the chrysanthemum rather than cut it off. After that, split the tip with a sharp knife and insert a piece of a match into the crevice - this will provide water access to the flower. In general, chrysanthemums stand for a very long time (up to 20 days in a sugar solution!), So that under favorable circumstances they have time to give roots. As a result, a pleasant surprise for a mother who grows flowers in the country is guaranteed in a month or two!

Good afternoon friends!

I studied the topic, and I have my own secrets from personal experience, I'll tell you about general recommendations and the peculiarities of preserving different bouquets of flowers, such as roses, tulips, dahlias, lilies and others, in a vase at home. They will come in handy not only on March 8, but also in other periods and seasons of the year.

General rules

In order to keep the bouquet in the vase longer, you just need to follow some simple rules, prepare flowers, a vase, and water. All manipulations with the bouquet must be done after it has been brought from the frost, it will lie down a little in the warmth and get warm.

Do I need to remove the packaging

I didn't think that I would write about this, because I believed that the packaging was intended solely for transportation and in order to beautifully present the bouquet. Pleasure and pleasure should be delivered by themselves, fresh flowers, not paper.

But florists advise not to remove the packaging, because this way the microclimate in the bouquet is better preserved and it lasts longer.

Preliminary preparation

First of all, we remove all excess leaves, and not only damaged ones. Needs to be cleaned of lower leaves that part of the stem that will be submerged in water. Otherwise, the leaves in the water will rot, the water will acquire bad smell, and bacteria will multiply, flow along the stem to the buds, and the flowers will quickly wither.

The cut must be carried out at an angle of 40-45 degrees and immediately place the flower in the water.

Which vase to choose

When choosing a vase, pay attention that it does not overshadow the beauty of your bouquet.

The vase should be spacious so that the stems of the flowers are not pressed too tightly against each other.

And of course, it must be clean, washed with baking soda.

To make the flowers in a bouquet look beautiful, place them in a vase so that the flowers look not inside the bouquet, but outward, and the stems do not intersect or get confused.

What water to put

Bouquets with flowers must be placed in settled water at room temperature, but while the flowers are warming up from the frost, pour water into the vase, it will also warm up, and all the harmfulness will settle to the bottom. In general, it is preferable to take boiled water.

There are exceptions when flowers are better preserved in cold water, these are: tulips, snowdrops, viola, irises.

Where to put

Fresh flowers do not like window sills and direct sunlight, drafts and cigarette smoke, as well as the proximity to vegetables and fruits, which can accelerate the wilting due to the released ethylene.

At the same time, they feel better in a bright, cool room away from heating appliances.

Color compatibility

Many flowers are capricious and selfish, preferring loneliness to the neighborhood with other flowers. And this circumstance must also be taken into account, to know with whom they are friends and with whom they are not.

So, roses and carnations, placed in one vase, die very quickly. Tulips are allergic to the sweet scent of daffodils. Violets and lilacs don't like lilies of the valley.

But a twig of thuja can extend the life of any flowers, and it will add charm to the composition.

How to keep a bouquet fresh longer

You can extend the life of bouquets by adding to the water different substances, which are divided into two groups.

The nourishment of the flowers will be provided by a sugar cube.

And to prevent decay, agents that suppress the growth of bacteria are used:

  • aspirin
  • vinegar (table or apple cider)
  • calcium chloride
  • Activated carbon.

I usually put a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of vinegar.

Naturally, in order to keep the bouquet in the vase longer, you need to change the water every two to three days, if necessary, every day. At the same time, do not forget to wash and disinfect the vase, rinse and cut the stem, remove wilted buds and leaves.

It is also useful to spray the buds with water, which will refresh their appearance.

How to keep a bouquet of roses, chrysanthemums, tulips, lilies, mimosas, gerberas

The above rules are suitable, in principle, for all colors, but there are some peculiarities of preserving certain species.

Roses

Stem pruning must be done in water, not under a tap, but in a container filled with water. This is necessary so that all the vessels of the plant are immediately filled with water without access to air, then it will stand longer.

Make the cut long and oblique.

If the trunk is hard and woody, it would be good to split its end up to 5 cm in length.

You can put roses in cool water. In general, they love coolness, and bloom better in May and September than in summer. My friend put bouquets of roses even in the refrigerator for a while, prolonging their existence.

Roses, like other flowers, love sweet water, so add 30-40 grams of sugar per liter of water.

Cutting roses for a bouquet in your garden is preferable in the early morning or late evening. In this case, the flower buds must be fully or partially blossomed. The duration of their life in water also depends on this.

The queen of flowers does not like neighborhoods not only with other types of plants, but even roses of a contrasting color do not get along well with each other, white and red roses in one vase wither quickly.

Withering flowers can be reanimated by completely submerging them in water, i.e. with stem and buds, for several hours.

I usually practice this bathtub immersion every night without waiting to wither, so the bouquet is guaranteed to be worth a week.

Here's another interesting advice I read it: Pour water into a plastic bag, shake it and cover the roses overnight. Water droplets on the walls will create a greenhouse effect and revive even heavily wilted flowers.

Chrysanthemums

With proper care, chrysanthemums can stand in a vase for two weeks.

As in the case of roses, their dense stem needs to be split a little.

Leaves must be cut off, they rot very quickly.

They put these flowers in warm water, put a little soda or half an aspirin tablet.

Tulips

Choose flowers that are just starting to open.

Tulips are big water-lovers, so you have to add some water to them and cut off a little stem every day.

They like cold water, they will not mind if you put even a piece of ice in the vase.

Blooming tulips can be put up at night in a cold and dark place, wrapped in paper. This will refresh them well. Yes, and during the day it is better for them to stand in the shade.

These flowers have a sweet tooth, feed them with 70 grams of sugar (per liter of water), and to avoid rotting dense stems, add a pinch of salt.

Mimosa

As for mimosa, I do not know the exact secrets of its preservation. long time in a fluffy form.

I read that the twig must first be immersed in very hot water for a short time, then crush the stem and put it in a cool place in the water. Since mimosa does not like dry air, it should be sprayed more often.

But this can be done with a plant that has not yet bloomed completely.

And it is better not to put a completely flowering branch in the water at all, it will stand this way longer as long as it is allotted to.

Lilies

One of the secrets to keeping lilies safe is to remove pollen, but otherwise they just need regular care, which consists of regularly changing the water and pruning the stems.

Gerberas

The stem of cut gerberas becomes soft, so it is often wrapped in foil. Having brought home a bouquet of gerberas, you do not need to remove this film, put it in a vase of water in this form and it will give you joy for a long time.

The bouquet of flowers pleases the eye and decorates the room. Unfortunately, the life of cut plants is fleeting, but there are ways to extend it. Some florists, knowing these techniques, sometimes use them to their advantage, passing off flowers that have faded as fresh ones.

Knowing these tricks, you can enjoy the bouquet for several weeks, but you will need to carry out certain manipulations with the composition daily.

How long the bouquet will last depends on many factors, primarily on how fresh the plants were at the time of purchase.

Unscrupulous sellers know secrets that can turn a plant that is not the first freshness into a wonderful flower. However, such a bouquet will not please for long, it is likely that it will wilt in a few hours.

When choosing colors, you need to pay attention to several points:

  1. Color and general state petals.

They should be firm, brightly colored, free from spots and dry areas. The bud should not be completely open, tulips are better to buy completely closed.

  1. Stem.

It should be long, leaves firm and fresh, and the cut should be clean and light. A plant on a short stem most likely stands for more than one day, sellers extend the life of the flower by cutting off a piece of the stem every day.

Florists in stores usually use old plants to create ready-made bouquets. In order for the composition to stand longer, it is recommended to choose flowers for it yourself, carefully examining each copy.

General rules for caring for a live bouquet

The lifespan of all flowers is different, and the requirements for conditions are slightly different. However, there is general rules that must be observed if it is necessary to extend the life of the bouquet.

Water

It is impossible to keep the plant in tap water, it contains many impurities that are harmful to the plant. For a bouquet, use a standing or melt water. Not a bad option boiling - heating removes some of the oxygen that plants are not very fond of.

The water temperature should be at room temperature, in the summer you can periodically add ice cubes to it.

If the bouquet is presented in winter, you do not need to put it in the water immediately after it is brought into the house. It is recommended to let it lie down at room temperature for 30-50 minutes, covered with a damp newspaper or cloth.

Vase

The optimal material for a vase is glass or crystal; plants will stand in such containers longer than in ceramic or metal ones. In the former, putrefactive bacteria rapidly multiply and penetrate the walls of the vessel. Metal containers oxidize and release hazardous compounds.

The vase should have a wide neck so as not to squeeze the stems of the plants. Before placing the bouquet, the vase must be rinsed with baking soda and rinsed well.

Temperature control and lighting

Flowers are better preserved in a cool place, it is desirable that the room be 15 ° C-18 ° C, if such conditions cannot be created, it is recommended to ventilate the room several times a day. Drafts are also detrimental to plants, so you should not place the bouquet near an open window.

Do not place the vase near radiators or other heating appliances. At night, it is advisable to put a vase with a bouquet in a cool place, for example, to take it to a balcony or veranda.

V daytime the bouquet should be in partial shade, straight Sun rays will accelerate the withering process.

How to prepare plants before placing in a vase

The key to the longevity of the bouquet is the elimination of the airlock in the stem, which will prevent water from entering the plant. To do this, any flowers before being placed in a vase need to be cut a little, literally 1-2 cm. The cut should be oblique, about 45 °, but errors are permissible.

The procedure should be carried out under running water with a sharp knife and immediately put the flower in the water. Hard steles of flowers (roses, chrysanthemums) need to be split, inserted a match or smashed with a hammer to improve the penetration of liquid. Plants with hollow stems (dahlias) are prepared in a special way:

  • cut the stem at an angle;
  • carefully pour water inside;
  • cover the hole with a small piece of cotton wool.

If the stem of the flower secretes milky juice, it must be "cauterized" by dipping it into boiling water for 5-10 seconds.

Flowers with large stamens (lilies, tulips) are removed. The part of the stem that will be immersed in the ode must be cleared of leaves and small twigs. In a humid environment, they quickly begin to rot.

Invalid neighborhood

Some flowers, located with each other, accelerate the process of wilting of neighbors. Single flowers:

  • the Rose;
  • lily of the valley;
  • lily;
  • Carnation;
  • hyacinth;
  • narcissus;
  • orchid.

Some plants, on the other hand, will extend the life of flowers:

  • geranium.

Flowers should not be placed next to ripe fruits, the ethylene released by them will accelerate the decomposition of the stems.

Fresh cut flower care

Broken flower beds and rose gardens can be seen near most private houses. Bouquets of home flowers are guaranteed to be fresh, however, how long the arrangement will last depends on the cutting time.

Experienced growers recommend cutting the plants early in the morning. At this time, the flowers have the maximum concentration of glucose and nutrients, and the plants themselves are naturally moisturized. As a last resort, you can cut the bouquet late in the evening, but not during the day, in hot weather.

You need to cut flowers with half or a third of the buds in full bloom. The unopened ones can remain so, and the unopened ones will quickly crumble.

You need to go to the garden with a bucket full of warm water, and immediately immerse the flowers cut with a sharp knife into it, after removing the leaves.

Freshly cut fresh flowers are left in this container for several hours in a cool place to fill the stems with liquid and become juicy. The water temperature should be about 45 ° C, this will accelerate its penetration into the capillaries of the plant. This is done with all flowers, except for bulbous ones; it is better to put them in very cold water.

All types of flowers need soft water: filtered, melt or rainwater. You can not use the liquid directly from the water supply, it must settle for at least 12 hours.

Features of some colors

All flowers require different conditions and care, their observance will allow you to keep the bouquet for several days, or even weeks longer:

  1. Roses.

The most popular and beautiful flowers, with tough stems covered with thorns. After buying or cutting, the stem must be cut at an angle, crushed with a hammer and quickly submerged in water. In addition to leaves, in mandatory thorns are also removed. In order for a bouquet of roses to last longer, you need to remove fading petals.

  1. Lilies.

Delicate flowers with a specific aroma that will easily last 7-10 days. To increase the period, you need to remove the stamens, and be sure to pinch off the fading inflorescences.

  1. Chrysanthemums and asters.

Recognized long-livers. They will easily last 15-20 days in all conditions. Before putting them in water, you need to remove small leaves and crush the stem.

  1. Bright gerberas.

They are also loved by many, but they are very demanding on water. In order for these large chamomiles to delight as long as possible, the vase is washed well and fertilizer is added to the water.

  1. Stems of dahlias and daisies must be cauterized in boiling water or over a fire.
  2. Peonies.

They love a dry and cool room, they need to be cut at the moment when the buds have just begun to open. In this case, the flowers will stand up to 2 weeks.

  1. Tulips.

Very beautiful, but quickly fading spring flowers. You can revive a drooping tulip by dipping a freshly cut stem in boiling water, covering the delicate petals with paper.

  1. Gladioli.

Very unpretentious flowers. They are cut off after opening three or four lower buds and put in tall vase, pinching small inflorescences and shoots at the base.

Means that allow you to preserve the bouquet for a long time

The reasons for the rapid withering of bouquets are a lack of nutrients and the multiplication of bacteria.

For disinfection, you can add to the water:

  • a piece of charcoal;
  • aspirin tablet per liter of water;
  • a few drops of vodka, brandy or moonshine;
  • 50 grams of sparkling or mineral water;
  • half a teaspoon of table or sea salt;
  • 5 ml of bleach (you can use regular Whiteness);
  • a pinch of washing powder;
  • 2 tablespoons of vinegar
  • A silver coin or spoon.

These substances must be added with each change of water, holding the slices a little in a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

except antiseptic fertilizer is added to the water. It could be special composition or regular sugar (7-10 grams per liter of water).

What to do if the bouquet starts to fade

It is not always possible to carefully monitor the bouquet, sometimes the hostess notices that the flowers have wilted a little. This does not mean at all that it is time to throw out the plants. There are several ways to bring wilted flowers back to life:

  • cut the stem at an acute angle and place in warm water;
  • put the bouquet in a cool bath or wrap it in damp paper (cloth) for several hours.

Check out the video for tips on how to keep your roses fresh for as long as possible.

  • change water;
  • add antiseptic and fertilizer to it;
  • wash the vase;
  • spray from a spray bottle;
  • wash the stems in a solution of potassium permanganate.

The bouquet needs to be examined and wilted inflorescences and petals should be removed. If the composition contains plants with unopened buds, 2 ml of ammonia per liter of warm water will help them to open.

To keep a bouquet donated or compiled by yourself fresh, you do not need to use expensive tools and technologies. Daily care and suitable conditions keep the beauty of flowers for several weeks.
