Hinges for double doors in kitchen cabinets. Furniture hinges

When ordering a kitchen set, we hope that it will serve us for many years, will withstand numerous openings and closings. That is why it is so important to choose high-quality fittings, and especially door hinges. Not so long ago, Soviet industry produced furniture on which only hinges with a four-bar hinge were installed.

The modern hardware market is represented by a huge assortment of hinges for fastening doors. This is due to the fact that designers are inventing new forms of facades and their attachment to the set.

Species

Today manufacturers offer more than ten various types loops for kitchen cabinets. This ranges from the simplest “frogs” to hinges with closers of various complex designs.

Different door hinges are attached in different ways.

  • Overhead loop or frog loop. It is a four-bar hinge mechanism. It presses the door tightly and allows you to open it 90 or 165 degrees. This type of loops is the most common. It can be found on almost any kitchen set that has swing doors. Such hinges allow you to completely cover the furniture body on which they are attached.

  • Semi-invoice. It allows you to partially cover the headset body. Its structure has a slight bend, due to which a gap is formed between the cabinet doors, fixed to one rack, which makes it possible to open both at the same time without any problems.
  • Internal. Outwardly, it is very similar to a semi-overlay. But its application is different. An internal hinge is installed when it is necessary to place the door set inside the frame.

  • Inverse. Allows you to open the cabinet door 180. In this case, the door is flush with the frame.

  • Corner. As its name suggests, it installs doors at an angle. This is necessary for corner drawers. Standard hinges in this category come with installation angles of 175,135,90,45 and 30. But there are also non-standard corner hinges.

  • Mezzanine. Used to hang horizontally opening drawer doors. At the core of this type loops lies the spring.

  • Piano. Rarely used in modern furniture due to its unreliability. It is used mainly for book tables and for attaching folding tabletops.

  • Card loop. Essentially, this is the same piano loop, only shorter. It is often used in retro-style furniture; for this purpose, these hinges are shaped or given the shape of a butterfly.

  • Secret. It has two plates, with the help of which horizontal facades that go down are attached. They got their name from their use in secretaries. Similar to a piano loop.

  • Adit. Mounted on cabinets adjacent to the wall.

  • Card shop. With their help, folding facades are attached. Such hinges have the ability to fix the cabinet door. They are attached from the end to the door and frame and allow you to open the structure 180. Card hinges are very popular on folding tables.

  • Reversible loop. Allows you to open the doors 180 degrees and return them back, like at the entrance to a supermarket.

  • Heel. Attached to the corner of the facade. It can go deep inside the sash, but is only suitable for lightweight doors. Therefore, its use is very limited.

Hinges also vary in their use in certain materials. Glass, plastic, and fiberboard require different hinges.

There are also two types of hinges that differ in installation. Slide-on are standard hinges, and clip-on are instant installation hinges. Clip-on hinges reduce installation time by up to 60% due to the collapsible hinge, which has two parts that snap together.

Another type of hinges for kitchen furniture are hinges with a driver. Their price is much higher, but it justifies itself. First of all, it's convenient. They pushed the door, and it closed further by itself. Secondly, it preserves the condition of the furniture. Since the closers themselves regulate the force of closing the door, thereby keeping both the facades and the frame itself in their original condition. Thirdly, they prevent the sound of doors slamming without irritating the nervous system.

How to install correctly

Installation of invoices door hinges on kitchen cabinets - the process is simple. But still it requires little knowledge and skills.

Tools you will need when installing door hinges:

  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • drill;
  • cutter;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws

First, mark the location of the hinge on the door. In order to embed the hinge into the door, you need to drill a hole. To do this, mark the center of the circle in which the cup of the furniture hinge will be installed. The number of hinges on the door must be at least two and depends on the weight of the door and its size. The distance between the hinges should be at least 45 cm, from the top edge of the door - approximately 10 cm, from the side edge - 2.1 cm. To make the work easier, you need to make a template in the form of a rectangle with the appropriate dimensions. Then you won't have to measure these distances for each loop, and there will be less chance of making mistakes.

Now drill the hole. To do this, install a cutter with a diameter of 35 mm in a drill and make a hole 1.25 cm deep. Moreover, if your facade has a pattern with a recess on the outside, then the depth of the hole should be reduced by a couple of millimeters to eliminate the possibility of making a hole right through.

Now you need to hang the door on the frame.

When you begin to attach the door, it must be placed 2 mm lower and 1 mm to the side from the edge, so that the façade can be easily adjusted later. Finally, screw the loop with self-tapping screws to the box.

There are many types of hinges with different functional purposes, allowing you to fasten the facade at different angles and with different “overlaps” on the body of the cabinets and inside the body. Let's look at the main types of furniture hinges with photos, used for chipboard, MDF and solid wood.

Types of furniture hinges by design

There are many hinges and canopies used to attach a swing door to the frame of a cabinet or cabinet. Mainly in modern furniture production use four-hinged hinges, allowing you to adjust the facade in three planes at once:

  • above/below,
  • left/right,
  • to/from the facade.

All of them consist of two interconnected parts - a bowl with an elbow and a counter plate. Often the strike plate is called a mounting or mounting plate. This article will focus specifically on four-hinged hinges.

Other types of furniture hinges can be combined into one large group as “bowlless” hinges.

First of all, these are well-known fasteners interior doors and facades in old furniture piano, card, pin, heel loops. They are rarely used in modern furniture. For example, piano, card and mortise hinges can be used to attach tabletops to the base, movable legs in. For ordinary cabinets, brass decorative hinges are used as an additional feature.

Invoices hinges that do not require drilling the facade. They come in handy when the thickness of the material chosen for the facade does not allow installing (embedding) a four-hinged hinge due to the depth of the bowl. The only drawback of such hinges is their rigid fastening, which does not allow adjustment in three planes, like four-hinge hinges.

Hinges for fastening specific facades. For example, prefabricated aluminum frame facades different widths are installed on special hinges - you can purchase them together with the profile. Please note that, just like regular four-hinged hinges, they can be overhead or internal, designed for corner cabinets of 45, 135, 180 degrees and facades covering the end of the case.

Types of four-hinged furniture hinges

According to the design, according to the way the bowl with the knee is attached to the striker, four-hinge furniture hinges can be of three types:

    • Slideon- the parts of the loop are inserted into each other and connected using a fixing screw that has special notches, thanks to which it reliably “holds” the connection even in a weakened state. This type of loop is the most common.

    • Clipon- the parts of the loop are connected by simple snapping, without screws. The facade can be removed and installed without using any tools - just pull the latch. Clip-on hinges are also called quick-installation hinges.

    • Keyhole– on the shoulder of the bowl with the knee there is a hole resembling a key hole in shape - a keyhole. The arm and bar are secured by passing the head of the fixing screw through this hole.

Regardless of the design, all of the above types are divided according to their purpose and installation method - what facade is used in the furniture and how it is attached to the body.

90 degree hinges

*Designation of 90 degrees in in this case Conventionally, it is used to mark hinges that open at right angles. In fact, the door travel is somewhat greater, reaching about 105-120 degrees when opening. Some manufacturers and sellers of accessories may mark this type not “loop 90”, but, for example, “loop 110” - there is no mistake here.

Overlay (external) loop 90 degrees It is distinguished by a straight “shoulder”, without bending. Used for facades that completely cover the ends of the side walls of the body (without taking into account the technological gap, which can be 1-5 mm).

Half-overlay (middle, half-outer) loop 90 degrees, the shoulder of the bowl with the knee can be distinguished by its bend average size. Rarely used. For example, in double-row kitchen horizontal cabinets for fastening the lower door and in three-leaf wardrobes for fastening the middle facade.

Inset (internal) loop 90 degrees It is distinguished by a large bend on the “shoulder”, due to which the inset door is carried out when opened outside the body. Rarely used. For example, in office furniture, in which the body is made of thickened chipboard 22 mm and internal facade highlights this detail.

180 degree hinges

Straight (gauge) hinge for false panels designed for attaching the facade to the sidewall, which is located in the same plane. Most often used in corner kitchens, when using the appropriate corner sink module.

Carousel (crab, crocodile, transformer) loop 165 degrees recognizable by its characteristic complex form bowl elbow, thanks to which the door opens in a wide direction relative to the body - almost up to 180 degrees. It can also be invoice, semi-invoice and inlay. Differs in the shape of the shoulder.

Types of corner hinges

Corner hinge 30 degrees“presses” the façade, located at an angle of 90+30 degrees relative to the body. Used most often in beveled end cabinets kitchen sets or wardrobes. Installation angle – 120 degrees. Some manufacturers mark it by installation angle, i.e. called a 120 degree loop.

45 degree corner hinge used in trapezoidal single-leaf and double-leaf cabinets - for example, kitchen or dressing rooms. Similar to the previous type, it can be called by the angle of installation - a 135 degree loop.

Angled hinge 120-135 degrees most often serves as a connection of two facades, fastened together at a right angle of 270 degrees, coming off like an accordion. In this case, the door without a handle is attached to the body using a carousel hinge from the previous category.

Corner hinges with negative opening angle are used extremely rarely due to design features: end cabinets, as a rule, serve as the end of a row of furniture and it is more convenient to open the door from the other side. But there are projects in which it is more expedient to implement the opposite solution.

The photo shows the main types of furniture hinges standard type, without closers ensuring smooth closing. Hinges with closers are classified similarly - depending on the type of facade and the installation angle relative to the body. They differ in appearance from standard ones only in the shape of the shoulder, inside of which a special movement-absorbing mechanism is built. Also, the closer may not be built-in, but overhead - as, for example, a manufacturer such as Blum offers. But the bulk of offers on the market still do not imply the possibility of improvement. Therefore, if you are determined to install facades with soft closing, without annoying knocking, purchase fittings with closers right away. True, it costs a little more. Before purchasing, I recommend that you read it.

A separate group of furniture hinges is for glass facades, with and without drilling glass. Review on hinges for glass.

Furniture hinges- These are small mechanisms with the help of which various cabinets open and close. Currently there are many varieties furniture fittings, and a novice master finds it difficult to choose hinges for cabinets on his own.

Types of hinges for cabinets

For cabinet doors the following can be used:

  • hinge hinges. Such devices consist of two parts, called cards, which are connected to each other using an axis;

  • four-hinged hinges. The devices consist of a base attached to the mounting plate, four hinges allowing opening at an angle of 90º - 180º, and a cup connecting the door and the hinge;

  • hinges designed for glass doors consist of four main elements: a mounting plate, an opening mechanism, o-ring, installed on the surface of the glass and decorative overlay.

The most common are four-hinge hinges, which are distinguished by their reliability and versatility of use.

In turn, four-hinged furniture hinges for cabinets are divided into:

  • invoices. Used for doors that cover the side parts of a niche;
  • semi-overhead. Used for doors that together cover the inside of the cabinet;
  • loose-leaf. Installed for the door, which is located inside the cabinet;

  • corner. Optimally suitable for corner cabinets of various designs;

  • inverse. Capable of opening 180º, that is, the door and side of the cabinet in the open position form an expanded angle.

Hinges intended for glass doors are also divided into the indicated types.

All loops can be divided into:

  • ordinary (types of ordinary loops are presented above);
  • soft closing hinges, that is, hinges for cabinets with a closer.

Installing hinges

The method of installing cabinet hinges depends on the material from which the door is made.

Before starting work, it is important to find out:

  • how many hinges are needed to securely hold the door;
  • what tools are needed.

Preparatory stage

The number of loops depends on a number of factors:

  • overall dimensions of the hinged door (the most important thing is to find out the height of the facade);
  • door mass.

The following tools will be required for installation:

  • a milling machine with an attachment equal to the diameter of the loop cup;
  • a drill with a drill that matches the diameter of the mounting screw;
  • pencil, tape measure for marking;
  • building level;
  • a screwdriver or a regular screwdriver according to the size of the fasteners.

Installing a hinge on a wooden door

To install hinges for kitchen cabinets or other furniture made of wood, follow the instructions below.

  1. determine the location of the hinges on the door. To do this, approximately 80-150 mm are retreated from each edge of the door. Distance depends on height door leaf;

  1. Markings for installation are made in selected locations. The hinge is applied to the door and the location of the cup of the device is marked with a pencil;

  1. with the help milling machine and the selected nozzle, a niche is drilled for the cup;
  1. the loop is inserted into the prepared niche and aligned horizontally. Having fixed the mechanism in this position, it is necessary to mark the places for fastening;

  1. holes for fastening elements are drilled;

  1. the device is attached to the door;

  1. Markings are made for attaching mounting strips to the cabinet body. To do this, you need to attach the door to to the right place and level, completely eliminating the possibility of distortions and shifts. On the cabinet body, mark the places for attaching the strips;

  1. the marked holes are drilled;

  1. the mounting plate is being installed;

  1. the two parts of the loop are connected.

To make it easier to install the loop, you can use a special template that allows you to quickly and efficiently apply markings.

Installing a hinge on a glass door

Installation of hinges for glass cabinets is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. All work begins with marking and selecting an area to install the loop. The marking rules are identical to the previous situation;
  2. Using a drill, the loop is attached to wooden frame closet To do this, holes are drilled for fasteners, and the hinge is fixed using a screwdriver or screwdriver;
  3. It is attached to the glass using clamps. The glass surface is inserted into the loop. Rubber gaskets are installed on each side between the glass and the hinge to protect the glass from damage. The hinge is fixed with bolts.

You can learn more about the method of installing hinges for glass doors by watching the video.

The instructions show the installation of hinges, which does not involve drilling glass. This method is most preferable, since it eliminates the possibility of the door splitting. How to install a hinge if you need to drill glass is shown in the figure below.

Installation of hinges for metal cabinets can be carried out using one of the presented technologies. The installation method depends on the type of hinge used.

Adjusting the hinges

Most cabinet hinge repairs involve adjusting the unit.

A standard four-hinge hinge is produced in three directions:

  • vertically;
  • horizontally;
  • according to installation depth.

To adjust a furniture hinge, you must:

  1. identify the problem that has arisen, that is, determine in which direction the shift has occurred;
  2. tighten or loosen the corresponding bolt located on the hinge body.

Using the adjusting bolts, you can eliminate deficiencies identified after installing the hinge and adjust the position of the furniture door so that it closes correctly and fits snugly against the cabinet body.

The need to select and install furniture hinges arises when purchasing furniture and self-assembly or after a breakdown, for example as a result of unsuccessful transportation. The choice of hinges depends on many different factors, the main one of which is the method of opening the door. You can install the hinge yourself. This work does not cause difficulties for novice craftsmen and completely inexperienced people. The main thing is to apply the markings correctly.

Basic accessories for assembly furniture cabinets are door hinges, which come in various types and designs. The most commonly used are four-hinge hinges, which are highly reliable and can work long time. Four-hinged hinges can be straight (standard opening angle 90º) or angular. The furniture corner hinge is intended exclusively for corner cabinets.

How to choose corner hinges

To select corner hinges for furniture doors, you need to determine:

  • type of loop;
  • required opening angle.

Types of loops

Corner hinges for furniture can be:

All types of corner-type furniture hinges have a number of features:

The type of furniture hinge should be determined based on the location of the cabinet door and the availability of additional options.

Determining the opening angle

The standard opening angle for furniture hinges is considered to be 95º-110º. If it is necessary to increase or decrease the opening angle of the cabinet door, then the installation of corner furniture hinges is required.

Each corner loop is marked with the sign:

  • plus if the opening angle exceeds the standard. For example, an angular hinge 45+ means that the door can be opened to 135º;
  • minus if, with the hinge installed, the door opens at an angle of less than 90º. For example, a -45 hinge helps the door open 45º.

On sale you can find corner hinges in increments of 5º. If an opening angle not a multiple of 5º is required, then when installing the hinge, additional pads are installed that allow you to independently change the angle specified by the parameters.

To determine which hinge is required for door installation corner cabinet, use a special scale called a Pythagorean goniometer.

The principle of working with the scale is extremely simple:

  1. the flat part of the protractor is attached to the cabinet box on the side where the hinge is supposed to be installed;
  2. The scale on the tool will tell you at what angle you need to purchase the loop. At the same time optimal value corner will be positioned flush with the bottom side of the cabinet frame.

How to install hinges

The corner furniture hinge consists of:

  • hinges equipped with a cup and housings with an installation groove;
  • strike plate.

The hinge is installed on the door leaf, and the strike plate is installed on the furniture body.

Installation of corner hinges is carried out according to the following scheme:

  1. Marking. First of all, the location of the hinge on the door is determined. The optimal distance is considered to be 70-120 mm from the edges of the facade. Using a pencil and ruler, mark the area for installing the hinge cup. The distance from the center of the cup to the edge of the door should be 20-22 mm.

  1. Using a drill and a special attachment, a hole is drilled for the cup. The depth of the groove should correspond to the thickness of the loop. Most often, it is enough to make a hole 12.5 mm deep.

  1. At the next stage, it is necessary to determine the location of the fastening elements of the hinged part of the loop. To do this, the loop is installed in the prepared hole and the locations of the fastening elements are marked with a pencil.

The marking procedure can be simplified if you use a special template during installation.

  1. Using a drill with a drill that maximally matches the diameter of the fastening bolts, holes for fastening are drilled.
  2. The hinged part of the hinge is installed and attached to the door facade.

  1. Next, mark the installation location of the strike plate. To carry out this operation, you need to place the cabinet door against the frame and align its position. Using a pencil, mark the attachment points of the striker plate.

Marking the mounting location of the strike plate must be done very carefully with maximum accuracy. Any deviations from the specified location of the door leaf can lead to errors in installing the hinge.

  1. The marked holes are drilled.
  2. The striker plate is being attached.

  1. If necessary, final adjustments are made.

The process of installing a furniture hinge is presented in the video.

The main aspect when choosing corner hinges consists in correctly determining the required opening angle. You can take measurements using a Pythagorean protractor, which is either purchased in a store or simply printed on thick paper. Installation of a corner hinge does not differ from the installation diagram of other types of furniture hinges.

Installing fasteners on cabinet doors and sides is a challenging process. From correct installation hinges depends on the balance of the sashes and their trouble-free operation for a long time. How to install hinges on a cabinet with your own hands , you can learn from this material.

Fastenings , installed on large-sized furniture , are semi-mechanical elements , which are responsible for opening the valves. Much depends on the material and thickness of the doors, so what the hinges are made of is also important.

The hinges must withstand regulatory loads.

To install Most often, overhead devices with four joints, the so-called frogs, are used. Such fastenings convenient for any design that involves hinged doors - wardrobe or kitchen cabinet, other types furniture.

Metal parts are made of durable alloys that are resistant to corrosion and mechanical deformation.

Furniture hinges are divided into several types, depending on how they are attached:

  • Invoices;
  • Half overhead;
  • In storerooms;
  • And inverse;
  • Ryalnye;
  • Feeding;
  • Ш tolnye, etc.

Types of furniture hinges.

For cabinet Overhead structures with cup bases are often used, which are connected to the panel using self-tapping screws. Mechanical inserts with a “shoulder” are inserted into these bases and fixed to the door and side panel.

Such fasteners are quite reliable and durable, since they have a reinforced connection to the planes.

Depending on type cabinet and its dimensions, as well as the material chosen suitable look connecting parts. Some elements used exclusively for classic furniture, where all details must match the style. For ordinary wardrobes choose standard invoices and semi-invoices fastenings

For installation on the doors, it is necessary to use certified industrial products - this guarantees the strength and long service life of the furniture and its individual parts.

Preparation for installation

  1. Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare a set of tools and materials for furniture . Be sure to have a screwdriver, drill with appropriate attachments, a simple pencil, chalk, ruler or tape measure on hand. You will also need screws of a suitable size (usually sold together with hinges) and self-tapping screws of a certain cross-section.

    Tools for installing hinges.

  2. When installing fasteners, you need to consider the material you are dealing with and its structure. For loose or fibrous wood panels apply different types fastenings and methods of fixation. Glass surfaces also require special approach. Two are mainly used fastenings - above and below. If the sash weighs a lot or exceeds a meter in length, then you can add another part in the center to strengthen it. If the weight exceeds 9 kg, the door is equipped with additional hinges - added for every 5 kg of weight. For kitchen cabinets, two hinges are usually used, for large items - from three.

    The maximum number of fasteners that can be placed on a door with a large length and weight of 20 kg is 5 pieces.

  3. From top and bottom internal corners the doors need to be measured at least 10 cm, otherwise the door may “loose” over time and the screws will come out of the grooves.

    You cannot place the hinges at the level of the shelves - the door will not close.

  4. Before you begin installation fasteners must be marked. This will help connect elements much more accurate.

    Use a pencil or fine chalk.

  5. Average length of indentation from the edge of the sash cabinet to the center of the loop is 2.2 cm.

    This distance is for standard mounts.

  6. Before installing hinges on the door cabinet wipe surfaces. Mark the locations of future joints with a sharp nail or awl.

    Preparing furniture for installation of fasteners does not require fuss. Depends on it correct work doors.

Carefully check all parameters of the sashes cabinet , arrangement of shelves, etc. You can make a preliminary sketch.

Installation of fasteners

Cabinet doors first try on the sidewalls to make accurate markings. Initial installation stage loops - drilling holes for attaching cups.

Making hinges in a vertical position of the door is not always convenient. This will potentially reduce the accuracy of the connection.

Place the sash on flat surface, fixing it. Drill holes for the cup using a drill and cutter. It is important not to make too large recesses, 1.2 cm is enough. Insert the cups into the holes and screw the screws into the door part of the mount.

It is necessary that they fit into the grooves evenly, without distortion, otherwise the door will not be secured correctly.

To install When connecting parts, place the drill vertically - any tilt will make the work poor quality, and chips may appear, due to which the fastening will not hold securely.The strike plate on the side of the product can also be installed in a vertical position of the panel, having previously marked the joints.

When drilling, the drill must also be held very level.

If overhead parts are used, they are made “blind” so that they do not fall apart during connection and assembly. Such fastenings should not have gaps or distortions.Use help when connecting the sash and side frame.

Together, the work process will be more convenient, better and more accurate.

Installing connecting parts on glass doors requires special care and attention. For such sashes, special fasteners are purchased. On the side of the side you will need holes that are drilled using a drill.

The glass sheet is fixed with clamps.

Leveling and Adjustment

Furniture fastenings need adjustment. For this in the process installations check their fixation by depth and distance. This can be done with horizontal or vertical position of the parts closet After assembling the furniture All preliminary calculations will turn into a result, so it is important to spend more time on the markup and connection parameters in advance.

When choosing, you must first of all pay attention to the strength of the product; it should serve throughout the entire life of the furniture.

After installing the fasteners on the cabinet doors It is necessary to carefully try the sashes on the sidewalls so that they match exactly. Mark the joints with a pencil. Fix the door and do fastening work on both sides. It is important that the accuracy of all details cabinet was one hundred percent. Finish assembly and check operation.

When opening and closing for the first time, the doors may move somewhat stiffly if the hinges are not yet lubricated and developed.

After attaching the hinges to the cabinet finished, it is recommended to drop a little machine oil inside the mechanism. Then you need to wipe the surface with an absorbent cloth.

Check that all elements are working properly.

For cabinet from Chipboard is better take wide loops, since the base material may crumble.

The better quality all the elements of the assembled furniture are, the more reliable their operation will be.

Installing hinges on the door cabinet , do not forget that after a while the sashes may sag under their own weight, especially if they are often left open. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically strengthen the hinges by tightening the screws. In modern fasteners this is easy to do - there is an additional recess in the oval part.

Try to adjust the parts carefully so as not to loosen the grooves.

It is also necessary to lubricate the hinges from time to time. cabinet so that they do not rust or creak. Adjusting fastenings , it is necessary to fix not only the screws connecting the cup or bar, but also the parts of the closer. The mechanical part may wear out from use. Therefore, it is important to have 2-3 spare elements to replace a broken part. “Drawdown” is indicated by distortion and loose cover. Work is carried out more often in rooms with uneven floors and high humidity.

If adjustment does not help, you should replace the old parts with new ones.

When changing fasteners on used furniture, you need to look at how suitable they are for it. It may be necessary to change the location of the new hinges due to loosening of the grooves.

After adjustment, check for gaps, tight fit of the doors when closing, overall mobility and evenness of the sash along the axis.

When installing several fasteners, you should make sure that their location does not get on the internal elements of the furniture.
