The presented video tutorial from the All-by-myself channel shows in two parts the technology for manufacturing a universal screw press, which was created by a master for his own needs with my own hands. Thanks to this, it turned out to be universal. It can be used for gluing materials, pressing prints, pressing out bearings and bushings, some types of bending workpieces, pressing fuel briquettes and even squeezing fruit juice for wine.

The press is made of simple materials. They can be purchased at any market. The base is a profile pipe 50x20 mm. First, the installation frame is assembled. Magnetic corners are used for alignment and mounting on the welding table. An ordinary sheet of metal is used as a welding table.

After leveling the workpieces, the master checked the coincidence of the diagonals and the uniformity of the sides of the base, as well as the accuracy of right angles. Semi-automatic welding. Welding mixture – carbon dioxide + argon. The metal is ordinary, so you can cook it with electrodes. It will take a little more time to clean and level.

First, I grabbed the workpieces at the corners by welding. I checked the diagonals and angles again after tacking. To prevent the frame from bending during the process, it was welded evenly on all sides. First the inner and outer corners. Two internal base elements against which the press piston rests. When the press is operating, a support plate or bars are placed on them for various needs.

First I grabbed it in several places, then boiled it. It is important that the elements are in the same plane with the frame, so it is better to assemble the base on flat surface. The base frame is ready. All that remains is to clean the seams to a flat surface.

To weld the top and align the rod you will need the center at the bottom. Therefore, we temporarily need to insert another element. Since it is removable, I noticed its position relative to the sides and made marks. After that, I marked the center with a crosshair of diagonals.

I took two connecting nuts (or extended ones) by the rod guides. Rod and nuts with M20 thread. I prepared four identical blanks for the shoulders of the cross. Marked it directly in place. Now I made them the same and cut them off. For the convenience of further painting, I cleaned all the parts before welding. I used a regular belt sander.

Now I grabbed the arms of the crosspiece to the central nut. If everything is smooth, you need to do the same on the reverse side. I checked that the crosspiece was level. And I completely welded the contour of the contact between the shoulders and the nut.

I fixed the finished cross in place. Prepared 4 racks from the same profile pipe. For ease of work, I fixed the square with a clamp so that there was something to support the stand on. Leaning the stand on the square, he lightly grabbed it. I grabbed all four racks, one point for each. It's too early to cook them. First you need to level the entire structure and secure the cross at the top. I secure it to the posts with clamps.

To center the rod, I used a temporary center on an element that I had made in advance. I placed the element according to previous tags. Now carefully screw in the rod.

Aligned the position of the cross to center the stem. Checked the verticality of the racks. Now all the racks can be grabbed in several places. Once again, check the verticality of the racks.

Now all the posts can be finally welded at the bottom. By aligning the crosspiece, we will once again center the rod. We weld the cross to the posts. We'll cut off the excess and immediately clean up all the welds for beauty... The rod needs a second guide so that it doesn't wander underneath. Let's secure it to the braces. Only two shoulders will be enough here.

I marked the arms right in place by screwing the second nut onto the rod. For welding, we immediately secure the shoulders with clamps and grab them in several places. Then we boil it.

Some press jobs require a pressure plate that moves parallel to the base. Therefore, we will make guides for it in advance. The guides will be made of studs with M14 thread. Therefore, we will drill two holes with a diameter of 14 m in the profile for them. Drilling is easier with water and drills last longer.

We immediately assemble the guides. Level and cook in place. The guides are removable. At the bottom they are screwed into an M14 nut, which is welded to the frame. The press screw itself consists of a rod - a pin with an m 20 thread, a handle made of a profile pipe with a cross-section of 20x20 mm and a freely rotating piston.

First, let's weld the handle. It is important to weld it at right angles to the rod. It will be convenient to work. To do this, I will fix the handle with magnetic corners to the tails of the guides before I cut them off. Now you can cut off the unnecessary tails of the guides. I will make a piston from scraps of a channel and a corner.

First, let's cut out the base circle. Here it is important to take a fairly thick metal, since it will transfer the entire load to the pressing part. The master took an 8 mm plate. We give the workpiece the shape of a circle with a grinder.

The second part of the piston is the bracket, made of a U-shaped channel 5 mm thick. A guide sleeve must be welded into the upper part so that the piston does not hang on the rod. A 3/4 inch plumbing fitting was perfect for her.

Using a 4 mm drill with water, drill as many holes as possible in the bracket according to the diameter of the sleeve. Where possible, we cut off the bridges between the holes with a drill. Next, we simply knock out a hole with a punch and remove the burrs with a semicircular file. There is no need to adjust it perfectly, since the weld will cover everything. It is important that the bushing fits into the hole.

Assembling the piston for welding. First the bushing, then onto the circle: a washer, two nuts, another washer and a U-shaped bracket. Screw the rod all the way and level it. To reduce friction on the return stroke, you need to leave a gap between the top washer and the U-shaped bracket. That is, you need to lower the sleeve 2 mm below the level of the bracket so that it rests on the washer.

First we weld the bushing into the bracket. Now we weld the bracket to the bottom circle. We check that everything rotates freely and weld the seams. The lower washer serves as a guide and limiter for the rod support point. Therefore, we weld it to the circle. The result was a piston.

Bottom part The threads of the rod must be cleaned so that they do not become flattened during operation and do not interfere with tightening the nuts. Apply lubricant to friction points. The piston is fixed using locked nuts. And rotates freely regardless of the stem. Bringing beauty...

To obtain juice from apples and pears we for many years We used a Soviet juicer. But we noticed that after processing the pears into juice, the remaining pulp is quite wet. Using improvised means, a third of the volume of juice was squeezed out of the pulp. That is, if 20 kg of fruit yielded 10 liters of juice, then after squeezing the cake we received an additional 3 liters!

This year’s harvest is anything but, and the grandchildren need vitamins, so the question arose of urgently purchasing (the apples are already ripe) a press for squeezing juice. But the search in the city was unsuccessful. That’s why we decided to make our own juice press using a car jack. Fortunately, there is a 1500 kg jack available.

How to make a press from a jack with your own hands: materials, dimensions

The juice press consists of:

  • supporting frame,
  • juice tray,
  • spinning dies,
  • cloth for pulp;
  • jack.

The most labor-intensive process is to manufacture a powerful frame that can withstand tensile pressure of up to 1000 kg. We made the frame from a metal profile and a corner. The width of the frame was determined by the size of the pallet - 36 cm. The height of the frame - by the size of the pallet and jack - 55 cm.

The side posts are made of a rectangular profile 70*25 with a wall of 2 mm. The bottom of the frame is a 50*50 profile. We tried to install the same profile on top of the frame, but during operation the jack began to wrinkle the profile - too thin metal 2 mm. Therefore, the top of the frame was replaced with a 50*5 mm corner. The profiles are connected with two 10 mm bolts in each corner.

Place the pulp in cloth bags. The material must be dense enough so that it does not burst under pressure. We used calico type sheet fabric. Bags of cake are placed between dies with a thickness of at least 20 mm. It is better to make the top plate on which the jack is installed thicker - 30 mm. On the dies, you can make horizontal cuts 3-5mm deep for better outflow of juice.

You just need to cut a hole in the side and glue a plastic tube into it, with the help of which the juice will flow into the receiver. The tank will be made of timber, the cross-section of which should be 20x40 millimeters. The gap between the elements of this product should not be more than 5 millimeters. Due to the fact that wood contains essential oils, as well as resins and glycosides, it is best to use indifferent biological material like natural wood as the material for the tank; it can be birch, beech, or oak. As for pine, it is, as a rule, not used when making hand press for juice. This is due to the fact that the material contains resins, the content of which can somewhat affect the taste of the juice.

Making a piston

When making a juice press with your own hands, you will need to make a square from two layers of boards, which should be perpendicular to each other. In this case, self-tapping screws should be used as fasteners. The resulting square will allow you to get a piston, and you will need to use an electric jigsaw. It is important to make an element that fits in diameter. The pistons should be rounded with a file, which will make it easier to install the elements in the tank. The piston is also made from biologically pure wood such as beech, birch or oak.

Among other things, you should cut the planks that are placed under the jack; this requirement is explained by the fact that the piston stroke will not be enough for the height of the tank; the jack handle will rest against the edge of the barrel.

Making a metal press

In a smaller diameter cylinder you need to make holes, placing them in checkerboard pattern. Their diameter should be 8 millimeters. When making a juice press, it is important to place a rectangular tray under the cylinders, which is made of stainless steel and has dimensions of 30x50 centimeters. The sides of the tray must have a triangular bevel, which is necessary for draining the juice. A 21 mm flange will act as a poisson. Its fixation must be rigid; it must be installed on the lower part of the rod.

If you decide to make a press for squeezing juice yourself, then you need to weld a head with a hole that is necessary for the lever to the top of the poisson. Using the last element, the thrust mechanism will be activated. A nut will work in tandem with the screw, which is installed on the U-shaped frame. To increase the quantity of juice produced and its quality, you can use two methods:

  • use of container bags for crushed fruits;
  • use of wooden drainage grates or stainless steel “pancakes”.

Important! Both options help improve the drainage of juice from the middle of the volume, which is compressed. The lack of drainage leads to the fact that the middle part of the crushed fruit is squeezed out much worse compared to the upper and lower layers.   • a traditional screw device, which is driven by an “electric motor-hydraulic jack” combination;
  • a screw press that operates on the principle of a meat grinder.

  • welding machine;
  • tank 50 liters;
  • drill;
  • tap;
  • metal channel with dimensions 10-12 mm - 150 mm;
  • jack;
  • metal corner having a size of 40-50 mm - 3200 mm;
  • oak slats 40x25x400 mm in the amount of 50 pieces;
  • a piece of fabric about one meter;
  • fishing line 2 mm about 3 m.

Frame

The base is one of important elements a device that must have strength properties and be of a strong structure, since during operation the entire main load falls on the frame:

  • For the side parts of the press we use metal corners height 85 mm.
  • The upper and lower parts of the base are made of a metal channel, which has a length of about 70 cm.

For strength, you can use additional reinforcement of the structure by welding gussets between the corners and the channel, while welding all the joints together.

Important! If a screw press design is used, we weld a nut for the screw to the upper channel. In addition to the metal frame, you can also use wooden boards with a thickness of more than 5 cm. We secure the boards with 10-12 mm studs and tighten them with nuts. Wooden device It is much easier to manufacture than a metal unit, but a wooden structure is not able to withstand heavy loads. This press is quite suitable for small quantities of raw materials. After manufacturing, the frame should be sanded and then painted with a special metal paint.

Press tank:

  • For this design we use a cooking tank made of stainless steel with a volume of up to 50 liters.
  • We drill a hole in the bottom of the container and install a stainless steel tap.

Important! If there is no tank, an ordinary saucepan of a suitable size is quite suitable.

  • We insert a grate made of oak slats into the boiler container.
  • For blanks we use oak or parquet board, the height of which corresponds to the height of the pan.
  • At the ends of the slats along the edges we drill holes with a size of 2-3 mm, through which we stretch stainless wire or fishing line.
  • By connecting all the planks together we get a structure that resembles a basket.

Important! During the manufacturing process, it is necessary to ensure that there is a gap of 2-3 mm between the slats, through which the juice from the prepared fruit will pass.

The design can be made without a pan:

  • To do this, we connect the boards with galvanized steel boards and place the basket on a tray, which serves to drain the squeezed liquid.
  • Also, as a tray in a juice press with your own hands, you can use a plastic tray for a large flower pot or a kitchen sink made of stainless steel.
  • There is a design option in which the grape press is made like a frame without a basket. Between the drainage grids, the pulp from the used fruit is laid out in several layers of fabric and pressed until juice is formed.

Piston:

How to make a steel grape press with your own hands:

  • From an unnecessary washing unit from a stainless steel tank, we independently cut out two versions of cylindrical containers without a bottom, having a diameter of 23 cm and 29 cm. The height of the blanks corresponds to 24 cm.
  • In the smaller cylinder we drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm in a checkerboard pattern.

Important! The inner container - a basket - is used to load grapes, and the outer one is used for juice.

  • Under the cylinders we place a rectangular stainless steel tray with dimensions of 30x50 cm, which has sides and a triangular bevel in the narrow part of the product.
  • We make a cutout in the outer cylinder to drain the juice.
  • A flange with a diameter of 21 cm plays the role of a punch, which is rigidly attached to the lower section of the rod with a rectangular or trapezoidal thread. For this purpose, you can use a screw from a water valve. At the top we weld a head to the flange, which has a hole for the lever, thanks to which the thrust mechanism will function.

Important! To reduce the pressure on the sides of the press, it is recommended to perforate the thrust flange with a 4 mm drill.

  • The nut, which is welded into the U-shaped frame, works together with the screw. The frame must be rigidly connected to the base; to do this, use screws to attach it to the table or concrete it into the floor.

Important! In order for the basket to be located in the central location of the outer container, bandage rings must be welded at the top and bottom of the basket.

Let's consider the process of functioning of a press for processing grapes made by yourself:

  1. Place grapes in the inner pan.
  2. Use the lever to tighten the screw.
  3. When the extraction process begins, we rotate the screw more slowly, while controlling the juice output.
  4. Unscrew the screw in reverse side when the grapes have finished pressing.

The manufactured structure can be used not only for processing grapes, but also for obtaining juice from apples and other fruits.

Important! To get maximum quantity juice, the prepared raw materials must be crushed into crumbs or ground in a meat grinder. We wrap the prepared pulp in napkins made of durable material, the portions should not exceed 2 kg, the number of layers should be about three. They must be separated by drainage pads made of perforated stainless steel discs, which are welded in pairs and have a thickness of 2 mm. Between them there are thrust rings having a thickness of 4 mm.

Wooden apple press

The previous model is a reliable option, but it has some disadvantages. Thus, thin stainless material undergoes a very difficult welding process. In addition, special equipment and electrodes are required. You can simplify this design option by making your own basket from boards, and parquet boards may also be suitable.

In order to make a working mechanism with a capacity of 20 liters, you need to prepare 20 boards with dimensions 320x50x15 mm.

How to make a fruit press with your own hands from wood:

  • Using self-tapping screws, the boards are attached to two stainless steel strips of 0.5-1 mm. The distance between the boards should be 10-12 mm.
  • Then the strips are bent and their ends are connected with stainless bolts. The resulting basket measures 29 cm in diameter and 32 cm in height.
  • A wooden circle with a diameter of 27 cm serves as a punch.

Important! If you place planks under the screw, then it is not at all necessary to use a thrust flange.

  • At the bottom of the basket, along the entire contour, a drain gutter is laid out for the juice to exit.

Important! As a tray, you can use an ordinary plastic bowl, in which a hole is drilled into which a tube is inserted.

  • Apples are cut into small pieces, wrapped in gauze and placed in a basket. During the working cycle, about 3.5-4 liters of juice are produced.

Important! In order to increase the pressure of the press when the press is lowered, boards are laid between the layers.

  1. To make homemade juicer, instead of a screw, you can use a car jack, then you don’t need to look for a nut. But in this case, you will have to provide a solid base structure against which the device intended for lifting the car rests.
  2. Frame wooden press can function without using a basket. Drainage grates and screw with nut are metal elements in this press, which are placed between packages with raw materials. In this case, the manufactured tray must have high sides to prevent juice from grapes and other berries from splashing on all sides.
  3. To reuse the bag wipes, rinse them thoroughly in water. If there was a long break between processing processes, the napkins need to be boiled.
  4. Berries and pulp should only be wrapped in a damp cloth to prevent the appearance of an unpleasant odor.
  5. The resulting pulp from pears and apples is thrown away; they do not have any special value. You can make fruit drinks and jelly from berry pomace.
  6. After preparing the grape juice, the wooden basket must be thoroughly washed with an ordinary dishwasher brush, and then scalded with boiling water.
