Fence in the village with their own hands. How to make a wooden fence for a private house with your own hands

It is quite fair to say that the first thing to do when arranging a personal plot is a fence. Its main functions are obvious - protecting the territory from unauthorized entry and prying eyes. But what, if not a fence, gives the site near a country house an individuality? Therefore, when building a fence, it is important not only to follow the technology, but also to try to make it fit as harmoniously as possible into the environment surrounding your home. After all, in the end, this is what will provide genuine home comfort.

Wooden fence: main advantages

Wood is a classic solution for building a fence. Despite all the advantages of modern materials - corrugated board, chain-link mesh, euro picket fence, etc. - wooden picket fences are still in very high demand.

The advantages of the tree are obvious:

  • ecological cleanliness;
  • availability and relatively low cost;
  • ease of processing;
  • appearance aesthetics.

At the same time, this material also has a number of disadvantages, which mainly relate to its fragility. Therefore, if you decide to build a wooden fence around a country house, you have to properly take care that it lasts as long as possible. And at the same time, it did not lose either its appearance or protective properties.

To do this, even before the start of construction, it is necessary to cover all wooden elements with an antiseptic to protect against mold and decay. In addition, it does not hurt to impregnate them with a flame retardant for fire protection purposes. Well, after completing the installation of a wooden fence, you will need to cover it with paint (preferably waterproof), stain or varnish.

The finish coating will significantly extend the life of your fence and reliably protect it from the sun, dampness, temperature extremes, pests and other negative operating factors.

We build a wooden fence with our own hands: where to start?

The start of any construction is laid in the construction estimate. In your case, it will be extremely simple. After all, if you are going to build a fence yourself, all you need to do is choose the right materials, calculate their quantity and, of course, the cost.

It is noteworthy that if earlier a simple picket fence was meant by a wooden fence, today a much wider choice is available for those who want to build such a fence around their house. First of all, we note that there are two main categories of wooden fences - solid and with clearance.

The most popular among both the first and second are such types of fences as:

Which one to choose is up to you. At the same time, it must be remembered that twice as much material will be used to build a solid fence than for a fence with a gap. On the other hand, the second option will not be able to hide what is happening in your yard from curious neighbors and passers-by. However, fences with a gap demonstrate higher wind resistance at a similar canvas height to solid ones. But in any case, the choice will depend only on your financial capabilities and aesthetic preferences.

Site plan

It is best to start construction with a work plan. Only in this way will you be able to adequately assess its volume, your financial capabilities and the time it will take to build a fence around the site. To do this, it is necessary to measure the perimeter of the latter, as well as determine the location of the gate section and the gate. If you want to build a fence at the cost of small funds, point supports are the most suitable option - in this case, the foundation is not required for the construction of the fence.

When counting the number of support pillars, it should be remembered that they are installed no further than 3 m from each other. Otherwise, the transverse logs will begin to sag over time, which will lead to a loss of strength of the fence.

Support posts for gates and wickets, as well as corner supports, should be more massive than purlins, since in fact the entire fence structure rests on them. As the first, it is best to choose a metal profiled pipe with a section of 6x6 cm, and the 4x4 cm profile will perfectly cope with the role of the latter.

After taking measurements, it is necessary to draw a construction plan. It will help you visually assess the amount of work and calculate the optimal fence configuration, of course, taking into account all the features of the site being equipped - elevation changes, the presence of obstacles, etc.

Purchase of materials and collection of tools

Suppose that you chose a wooden picket fence 1.5 m high as the main material, the width and thickness of which are 15x2.5 cm. To ensure the wind resistance of the fence and its overall reliability, the installation depth of the support pillars should be equal to a third of the height. In this case, the lower edge of the support should be located 20 cm below the soil freezing line. If on your site the latter does not exceed 80 cm, then the height of the support will be 2.5 m.

In areas with heaving or weak sandy soils, support pillars will have to be butted. On strong soil, it will be possible to get by with a pile or driven installation method. The supports of high and heavy fences installed on normal soils will have to be concreted.

After you have decided on the basic materials, it remains to buy them and deliver them to the construction site. Along the way, you need to remember to purchase everything else that may be required to install the fence - consumables (nails, bolts, drills, emery or grinding wheels, antiseptic and fire retardant, stain, varnish or paint, etc.) and, of course, tools.

To build a wooden fence you will need:

  • roulette;
  • level;
  • a hammer;
  • axe;
  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • chisel;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver;
  • kapron cord;
  • shovel and crowbar.

You should not delay the process of building a fence - it is better to start it with all the necessary materials. As for the tool, what you don’t have can be borrowed from neighbors or acquaintances already in the process of work.

Construction of wooden fences: an algorithm of actions

The optimal period for arranging the site around a country house is summer, but the fence can be built in spring and autumn - the main thing is that the soil is not frozen and dry. Before starting work, the area along the fence installation line must be carefully cleared and, if possible, leveled.

The construction of the fence is carried out in several stages:

  1. Site marking.
  2. Installation of supports.
  3. Installation of the picket fence on the transverse logs.
  4. Installation of cross bars on supports.
  5. Finishing of metal and wooden surfaces.

To mark the future fence, you will need a tape measure, metal or wooden pegs and a nylon cord. Initially, the installation points for the support pillars for the gate and the gate, as well as the corner supports, are indicated. Here, taking into account the external dimensions of the supports, pegs are driven in, which are connected by a nylon cord - it allows you to control the linearity of the fence.

Installation of support poles

This is the most time-consuming stage of construction. Each support, or rather the quality of its installation, requires the closest attention. After all, the reliability of the entire fence directly depends on this.

Backfilling of support pillars is performed as follows:

  1. With the help of a crowbar and a shovel, holes of the required depth are dug, the diameter of which should be approximately three times the diagonal section of the supports.
  2. At the bottom of the pit, approximately 5 cm in height, sand is poured, which is poured with water and carefully compacted.
  3. A pole is installed at the bottom of the pit and a mixture of crushed stone and sand is poured on 20-30 cm, which must be properly compacted.
  4. During the installation of each of the supports, it is necessary to carefully monitor the observance of the correct level.
  5. If sand makes up a significant part of the soil or it is heaving, partial concreting must be performed. To do this, pour 2-10 cm of sand into the pit, compact it and cover it with concrete to a depth of approximately -10 cm from the soil line. The remaining hole is covered with a mixture of crushed stone and sand and carefully rammed.
  6. On strong soils, backfilling is carried out up to the soil line. If desired, you can concrete the top 10 cm of the pit.

Fence fabric assembly

To create sections of the fence, you should prepare transverse logs and a picket fence. The first are performed individually along the length of the span. In the case of a fence with a height of 1.5 m, there will be 2 crossbars on each of the sections (with a significant height, 3 or more transverse logs are installed to ensure the stability of the fence structure). Logs should be placed symmetrically with respect to the middle of the fence canvas but not more than 20-30 cm from the top and bottom of the picket fence.

If the crossbars are wooden, it remains to lay the boards and strengthen them with nails or self-tapping screws. The picket fence is attached to the profile pipe with bolts - for this, through holes should be drilled in the logs. You can also install boards on the crossbars after attaching the latter to the supports - it's up to you to decide how it will be more convenient.

Wooden crossbars are mounted by means of bolted connections, but for this, special ears must be welded to the metal support pillars at the desired height. Logs from a profile pipe are installed by welding.

After mounting the fence to the crossbars, the section is mounted on supports - and so on to the bitter end. The last thing to do is to cover the wooden elements of the fence with varnish, stain or paint, and the metal ones - primed and painted.

Construction of a wooden fence in stages, video

Wooden fences have turned into rare fences even in an ordinary village house. Meanwhile, it is easy to make it yourself.

The craze for profiled sheet fences has a practical explanation: affordable material, quick construction, long service life, low price. As a modern material, profiled sheet broke into the construction market and significantly pressed the traditional tree.

Today it is undeservedly forgotten. But this is a natural material, beautiful, light, durable, from which you can make a unique fence of its kind. It is enough to make a little effort - and a wooden fence will decorate your site, enable plants to develop in natural conditions, and not “burn out” in the heat near metal fences.

So, the advantages of a wooden fence:

  • The beauty of natural wood
  • Ease
  • Durability
  • Environmental friendliness.

Types of wooden fence

Fans do not stop at the traditional version of a vertical picket fence on wooden poles. This method, although it has the right to life, is being replaced by more modern and beautiful designs. Consider a few of them, let's go from simple to complex:

  1. Narrow picket fence on wooden poles. The classic, simplest and cheapest option for house fencing. The construction involves timber for poles (15 by 15 centimeters), timber for veins (4 by 4 centimeters), gravel for filling holes, slats, screws or nails. The classic design can be given originality by changing the gap between the picket fence rails, its height, and coloring to imitate fine wood.
  2. Wide figured picket fence on a metal frame. A more reliable option that extends the life of the fence.
  3. Horizontally installed planed board on metal or brick supports. It involves the creation of deaf fences. The fence can be made in the style of "lattice", "herringbone", "cross", "ladder". A new trend in the construction of wooden fences.
  4. Wooden wicker from a planed board, located vertically or horizontally.
  5. Fences in the style of "ranch" are used to protect huge personal plots located in the countryside. Practical and cheap.

Construction stages

The beauty and durability of the fence depends on the quality of the wood. You can buy a ready-made picket fence, but there is a danger of “running into” raw material. Your work on making a fence from such a picket fence will go down the drain: it will “lead” in the first year of operation. We advise you to order a picket fence from a planed board. Process it according to all the rules and get a wonderful result.

Making a fence frame

To make a frame in wood, minimal effort is required. The pillars are buried at least 40 - 50 centimeters, a gravel cushion is arranged, on which the pillars are vertically installed, their lower part is treated with bitumen and covered with roofing material. With the help of bolts or self-tapping screws, two parallel horizontal veins are installed, to which the picket fence will subsequently be attached.

A more durable frame is made of profiled pipes of square or rectangular section. The supports are buried in the ground by one and a half meters, concreted. Horizontal rails are welded to the posts. The metal is cleaned of scale and painted.

And, finally, the most complex and reliable option for creating a frame for a wooden fence is with a monolithic foundation and a plinth on metal or brick supports. A trench is being prepared for a monolithic foundation, formwork. After the foundation has hardened, a plinth is made of facing bricks or natural stone, which are perfectly combined with wood.

Preparing wooden fencing elements

We agreed that it will be a material planed on both sides, so it will not be difficult to treat it with antiseptic impregnation without preliminary surface preparation. After the rails have dried, apply a primer.

The last stage is the coloring of the tree with pigmented impregnations, glazing compounds or covering. The end part of the fence should be well cleaned with fine-grained sandpaper and also carefully processed. A prudent owner applies paint in several layers in order to protect the tree as best as possible, and save himself from painting work for the next 8 to 10 years.

As you can use a varnish coating, stains of various colors. You can burn wood with a special lamp.

Attention! Processing and painting of a wooden picket fence should be carried out before its installation. If you install raw fence elements and then start painting them, the end pieces will be hard to reach and poorly finished.

Fencing installation

The classic example is the vertical installation of fence rails with a gap equal to the width of the picket fence. Installation can be done in two ways. In the first case, you attach each rail to the veins using a level. In the second, you pre-assemble the section on a horizontal surface, and then connect it with whole blocks to the support.

Features of mounting a fence in the style of "cross", "herringbone" and "ladder" - in the presence of special vertical pads on the pillars, where grooves are made for horizontal fastening of narrow planed boards. Linings can be made of wood or metal profile.

A variation of a vertically installed picket fence is the “chess” style - the picket fence is attached alternately from the front and back sides. For this, the same linings are used as when installing the "ladder" fence. With the help of a "checkerboard" you can create a blank canvas or make small gaps between the planks. The effect is amazing: at a certain angle, the fence seems deaf, but it is worth looking at the fence from the side, and the beauty of your site will be revealed to the passer-by.

The “ranch” style is an analogue of the Russian “corral”, it is very simple and cheap in execution: wide boards (poles) are horizontally attached to massive pillars. Large areas should be fenced with such a fence.

The wooden wattle fence is made in the style of folk traditions, but instead of a flexible vine, narrow wooden boards are intertwined. The length of the board should correspond to the distance between the posts. Such a fence has the same wrong side and front side. Can be used as a support for climbing plants.

When making a wooden fence with your own hands, pay attention to important details that will help you perfectly realize your dream:

  1. For structural strength, install vertical poles into the ground on special shoes to increase the area of \u200b\u200bsupport - no "sail" of the fence will be terrible!
  2. The distance between the posts should not exceed three meters. Experts consider optimal - 2.5 meters between the supports.
  3. When installing the picket fence, do not rely on your "sharp eye" - work with the level, constantly checking the accuracy in all planes
  4. As soon as you have purchased wood, immediately treat it against pests. A grinder beetle can start up there in a very short time - it will no longer be possible to improve the structure of a tree with the help of antiseptics.
  5. Pay special attention to protecting the wooden fence from the sun and precipitation. Take care of the choice of paint and impregnation in advance.
  6. It is possible to paint only dry wood (humidity no more than 12 percent).
  7. We do not recommend using oil paints and enamels for painting a wooden fence. They tend to crack and crumble under the influence of adverse factors.
  8. As hardware, use fasteners made of galvanized metal, which is not susceptible to rust.
  9. When attaching the fence, make sure that the screws enter the tree strictly perpendicularly, without damaging the tree.

Follow these simple tips and you will be able to build a beautiful and durable wooden fence on your site.

Today, wooden fences are gaining popularity again. Modern analogues from other materials, of course, are no worse, but from time immemorial, mankind has appreciated and still appreciates naturalness. Nothing compares to the naturalness of solid wood. Our site presents several varieties of wooden fences and fences for the house and detailed instructions on how to do it yourself.

The main types of wooden fences

For any owner of a private house, a hand-made fence is a special pride. But before proceeding with its construction, you need to choose the type of structure. Types of wooden fences for private houses and photos for them:

Wattle

Wooden wicker fence. By type, this is the most ancient variety - rods intertwined in a special way and knees driven into the ground. Antique wicker wooden fence (in the photo below you can see in more detail) is very unusual, it’s not difficult to make it with your own hands, but, unfortunately, it has a short service life.

Ranch

Although the name is reminiscent of American films about cowboys, it should be noted that in our country, such structures were erected a long time ago. They fenced gardens, kitchen gardens, in agriculture, animal grazing zones. By design, these are several boards (poles) nailed to a wooden beam.

Palisade

This is also a kind of old fences that you can make yourself. Stakes at the top are sharpened at an angle of 40 degrees. Has an impressive appearance

Lattice

An attractive appearance, such an openwork wooden one is easy to make with your own hands, most often serves as an element of decor for a personal plot or for its zoning. The decorative wooden fence does not differ in special durability. You can make it by crossing directly or diagonally slats or narrow boards.

Fence

The traditional type of fence made of wood is a picket fence. The simplest manufacturing option: boards in a vertical position are attached to the veins, and those, in turn, to wooden poles driven into the ground. This is the most economical and fastest way to fence your site. Apparently that's why it's become so popular. Easy to use, do it yourself quickly and easily, and with proper care, it will last a long time.

Another distinguishing feature of this fence is that it clearly delineates the boundaries without obscuring the site itself.

Separation of wooden fences according to installation technology

Fences made of wood, in the photo above you can see, there are:

  1. No foundation. In this case, only wooden poles or metal supports are needed.
  2. On the foundation. The ground part of the foundation base is made simultaneously with a wooden beam.

As for the finish, it can be done using any material, taking into account your preferences: stone, corrugated board, brick. A wooden solid fence with a base always looks respectable, stylish, and thorough. To make it you need to spend a lot of money, there is an option to reduce the cost of the structure - this is to make a wooden fence with your own hands from start to finish.

Stages of installation of wooden fences

Rustic style (Country) has always been and remains to this day at the peak of fashion trends. Wooden fences are its bright element, and the simplicity of lines, even without embellishments, always looks modern and elegant. Doing it yourself is not at all difficult. How to make a wooden fence of a more complex design? First you need to decide on the material of manufacture.

Important ! When choosing a material for a wooden fence, make sure that the solid wood is free from decay and other damage. Treat the wood with an antiseptic. Or buy ready-made material.

Step-by-step instructions for installing a wooden fence

If you have already decided on the material, select the proportions: the shape, the height of the wooden fence. Only after that it will be possible to proceed directly to the construction. How to make a wooden fence with your own hands, see drawings and detailed instructions below.

  • The first step is marking the area.

  • Next, you need to calculate the number of wooden pillars, fences and veins.
  • The earth part of the timber must be treated with tar.
  • Then marking is carried out along a pre-stretched cord under the beam (recommended distance is 3 meters).
  • Holes pop out. The depth of the holes should be equal to the depth of the soil - this is about 1.5 meters. Holes can be dug with a drill.
  • Think over well one nuance: if you are planning to make a high and heavy wooden fence, then in this case, be sure to attach a metal plate to the base of the support. This is necessary for stability and so that the fence does not turn out under the influence of gravity.
  • Wooden supports are installed vertically on a sand cushion of 12 cm, after which the hole is covered with small portions of soil with sand. Carefully rammed. To make the structure more durable, the hole can be poured with concrete.

  • After installing the supports, you need to calculate and determine the places for attaching the veins of wood from above and below.
  • The picket fence is selected according to a pre-selected template, but you can make it even by cutting it along a stretched cord.

To simplify the work, you can purchase a ready-made picket fence with or without drawings.

We offer you to watch a short video with a selection of beautiful wooden fences:

How to make a checkerboard fence with your own hands

The next type: do-it-yourself wooden fences checkerboard in the photo, you can clearly see the difference with the previous one.

Compared to the previous one, a wooden checkerboard looks more decorative. The main feature of the installation is that you can make it in any performance: dense or with gaps.

The pillars are installed in the same way as described above. After installation, you need to attach the beams. It is possible to cut grooves in wooden poles, in metal poles it is necessary to weld the corners on which the beams will be located by welding.

Decide in what position you want to make a checkerboard: horizontal or vertical, set the guides. With a vertical checkerboard, they are made horizontal and, conversely, with a horizontal checkerboard, they are made vertical.

Further, after installing the guides, you can proceed with the installation of the planks. Place them in a checkerboard pattern, as shown in the picture above (one on each side). You can fasten them either with nails or screws.

Very important ! Clearly measure and mark the attachment points, because small irregularities will give gaps, and this will significantly spoil the appearance of your fence.

Do-it-yourself wooden fence ladder

The wooden horizontal ladder fence is also very popular, so let's dwell on it in more detail. Making such a structure with your own hands is as easy as the previous ones. Install the supports, according to a similar (described above) principle.

Next, you need to fix decorative wooden linings on both sides - these will be the guides. As a rule, a channel is used for this purpose, it is easier and easier to insert a board into it at an angle. In this case, it is up to you to decide at what angle you want to make a Christmas tree. The position is also chosen by preference. The direction can be either vertical or horizontal.

Important ! Do not forget to install gasket material between them along with the boards. This is necessary for ventilation and to preserve the material from rot.

Do-it-yourself wooden fence for giving a ladder. The photo shows some models of finished work.

At the end of the work, treat the fence with an antiseptic and paint the structure.

Pledge of longevity of a fence made of solid wood

As a material for the manufacture of wooden fences, you need to choose those types of wood that are characterized by strength: ash, mulberry, acacia, oak, aspen, Siberian larch.

By the way, the last option is a truly eternal material; when exposed to water, it does not deteriorate, but, on the contrary, grows stronger. It is also worth limiting the use of pine species to create wooden blocks. You should not use birch if you do not want to change it often, it has the lowest density among all the others.

Bars for fencing are used from wood, and metal, or as an alternative to wood - overlays. The tree should not be discounted. Today, thanks to modern technology, there are special metal consoles. Therefore, solid wood supports do not have to be dug deep. The consoles are concreted, and then a wooden beam is attached to them.

The most vulnerable areas of wood are those where the cut is built across the grain. To extend the life of wood in fence blocks, lay the boards horizontally or make canopies. Wood is vulnerable if it directly interacts with air:

  1. At high humidity, it swells and is affected by fungal deposits.
  2. If the air is too dry, it will dry out and crack.

How to process a wooden fence to reduce the risk of damage and damage? This can be done by impregnation with an antiseptic and painting with special materials: Swedish paint, soak with hot drying oil, yacht varnish.

You can make Swedish paint with your own hands at home. To do this, mix the following ingredients:

  • Iron vitriol - 260 grams.
  • Minium iron - 260 grams.
  • Regular table salt -260 grams.
  • Rye flour will need 580 grams.
  • Drying oil, you can also use linseed oil - 240 grams.
  • Water about 4.5 liters.

The consumption of this mixture will be approximately 200÷300ml/m2. Expected color - golden. If you need a different color, then replace the red lead with ocher or manganese peroxide.

At all times they were famous for their popularity. This was largely due to its relatively inexpensive price and ease of installation. But today the situation has changed a little, and now not just fences are made of wood, but real masterpieces.

Let's consider everything in detail.

Making a wooden fence on your own. Step-by-step procedure

The construction of a wooden fence can be divided into several stages, namely:

  1. Installation of support pillars;
  2. Installation of crossbars;
  3. Sheathing of the installed frame.

Each stage in the construction must be completed in full.

Installation of support poles

The installation of support pillars is carried out by backfilling. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

It's important to know! Sand with crushed stone will lie down more densely if the mixture is wetted with water.

Installation of transverse logs

Transverse logs, which are made of wood, are best installed using brackets.

The installation algorithm is as follows:

It is necessary to pay attention to the fact that the distance between the transverse lags can be reduced. However, in this case, the design may reduce its strength. The support itself must necessarily be at least 10 centimeters higher than the skin, and the bottom must be at a distance from the ground at a distance of no more than 15 centimeters.

Sheathing of the installed frame

Before you start installing the mounting boards themselves, you need to remember that there are several ways.

In one of the ways, the picket fence is installed on the logs before the latter are mounted in the supports, namely:

If we talk about the second method of installation, then it implies the direct installation of each board separately. In this case, it is necessary to prepare for a long and laborious process. After each installed board, it is necessary to measure the distance between them (if you need clearance between the boards) and check for a clear vertical.

It is worth noting that any of the methods is popular with owners of private and country houses, so it is impossible to say which one is better. Everyone chooses an option for themselves depending on the choice of wooden fence design.

What can be processed and painted a wooden fence

It must be understood that the installed wooden fence takes on a variable climate in all seasons. For this reason, it is mandatory necessary.

Important to remember! Before installation, all metal components of the fence must be primed and painted.

Do not forget that ultraviolet solar radiation is harmful to a wooden fence for the reason that as a result of their exposure, internal moisture is lost from wood, thereby it loses its bearing capacity and appearance itself.

Such impregnation must be processed several times on a primer with the possibility of deep penetration. After that, you can use moisture-resistant paint and varnish to give the wooden fence an attractive look.

The price of pleasure

If we talk about the cost of the necessary building materials, the average price is indicated in the table:

Name of building material Volume Cost price
Board 1 m 3 About 3 thousand rubles
Cement 1 kg About 10 rubles
antiseptic 10 l. About 2 thousand rubles
self-tapping screws 500 pcs. 300 - 400 rubles
dye 3 l. About 400 rubles
Metallic profile 1 meter About 130 rubles
grinding wheel 1 PC. About 50 rubles
Edged board 1 m 3 About 4 thousand rubles

Design options

To date, there is still no such material besides wood, which was read as malleable for the implementation of various design solutions (while wood is very affordable in price range).

And so this fence has an internal view. No one will say that the view has become worse.

In this version of the design solution, attention was paid to every little thing. You can see how the contours themselves are worked out, and the corners are smoothed out in full. In the photo you can see the sliding gate from the same courtyard.

Agree, few of us know what techniques this or that designer uses to realize his fantasies. But they use: firing, create the effect of antiquity, successfully combine wood with various metal forged elements, and even tritely grind wood and paint it in various shades.

How do you feel about brutal style? Agree, the view is simply impressive.

To implement such a design solution, you only need a jigsaw, a grinder and woodworking skills. If you have the tools and desire, you can achieve the effect of shabby wood.

And who how to relate to puzzles? If you wish, you can initially draw a drawing on the board, and then cut it out according to the template. It is worth paying attention to the fact that this work is considered jewelry, since each board has its own clear size and bend.

At the same time, the most difficult process in the construction of such a wooden fence is its installation (not everyone is able to make such an arrangement).

For the construction, first of all, it is necessary to carefully consider the selection of the board. In no case should it be allowed that in any place of the board there is a different thickness or width. In this version, a distinctive feature is its affordable price, but this is offset by the enormous work that is necessary to create such a creation.

Despite the fact that a board up to 1.5 centimeters thick is not very suitable for fences, it can be used to create an excellent fence in the form of a lattice. Agree, the view is no worse than the previous options. And if you also decorate it with green spaces that will braid it, the view will be gorgeous.

Over the past few years, unedged board has increased in price by more than 15-20%, but this does not prevent it from staying in a low price range. At the same time, it is often used in the construction of a wooden fence in this style.

As you can see, this example clearly shows one of the options for design solutions when working with a non-edged board. If desired, you can achieve any exclusive solution.

And how do you like the design solution in the style of blinds? Agree, the view is just a bomb.

A selection of wooden fences

Beautiful wooden fences

With a little woodworking skills, you can create a beautiful fence in a short time.

This embodiment is popular with many owners of private houses, since its creation does not take much time and effort. Agree that the view is very attractive.

Standard fencing, which is suitable for both private houses and suburban areas. It does not require any special skills and abilities, but at the same time it has a beautiful appearance.

carved fences

To create carved fences with your own hands, you need to have wood carving skills.

It can take more than 3 months to create such a fence, since every little thing plays a big role. But it's worth it. This type of fence is suitable for any interior.

What about this cutting option? Surely, many people dream of such a fence, because it can not only emphasize the individual style, but also create the illusion of antiquity.

decorative fences

Decorative fences are often used to create rock gardens or simply in landscape design.

Small fences made of wood can emphasize the peculiarity of a particular plant, complement the interior of a personal plot.

If desired, you can create any decorative fence of one color or another. This does not require any skills and abilities.

Antique wood fences

Many people dream of creating a small fairy tale from their site and completely immersing themselves in antiquity.

This version of the effect of antiquity is great for areas where wooden houses are located. In combination with such a fence, you can create a real fairy tale for yourself.

And if you add a little decor in the form of a thick rope? The view is simply spectacular. Surely the neighbors will come to the owner of such a fence with admiration.

Fences from a professional flooring under a tree

If for some reason there is no desire to work with wood, you can install a fence made of corrugated board. Thus, you can not only increase the service life, but also create the illusion of a wooden fence.

If desired, you can use corrugated board in light colors under the tree, which is perfect for any interior. The service life of such a fence is over 25 years.

Another option is to use corrugated board in darker tones, which allows you to create the illusion of varnished wood. Great for wooden houses, or buildings sheathed in plastic wood.

For a private house

Depending on the wishes of the owner of a private house, the fence itself can be made in any style.

High fences have always been popular with owners of private houses. Thanks to them, you can hide everything that happens on the site from prying eyes, make the fence beautiful and exclusive.

For the construction of a wooden fence, you can use different materials - boards from different types of trees: beech, pine, larch or oak. Coniferous trees are especially valued. Each master chooses the material at his discretion, because the main thing is that the wooden fence is solid and stands for a long time.

How to make a fence

Wood fences can be divided into 2 groups: a fence and a palisade. Also, such fences differ in design (picket fence, wattle fence, bamboo fence, ranch, lattice fabric and other options for fence design).

The most popular and simple are picket fences, as well as those made by a continuous row of boards. Regardless of what kind of fence you plan to build, it is imperative to carry out preparatory work on its device:

  • clear the area for a wooden fence (remove debris, pull out grass or weeds, uproot stumps and roots of old trees, if any);
  • dismantle the old fence;
  • draw up a draft diagram of the future picket fence, where to mark the place of the gate, gate, taking into account the boundary lines and signs;
  • choose and buy all the necessary materials for building a fence (wood, nails or construction screws treated with an anti-corrosion agent, cement to stabilize the fence support, beams and logs, paint);
  • prepare tools (hammer, hacksaw, shovel, crowbar, hole drill, rammer, cord and pegs for marking the site, wheelbarrow, container for mixing cement mortar or concrete mixer).

Service life of a wooden fence

A wooden fence has a service life of about 8 years. However, if it is properly looked after and repaired in time, then this period increases by 3 times. A solid wooden fence can stand for more than 30 years, although fences from historical wooden architecture are known that are more than 50 years old.

The main factors for the durability of wooden fences are:

  • quality of building material-wood (soft or hard wood, manufacturer);
  • good quality and correct installation;
  • operating conditions.

Manufacturers determine the quality of a material by its likely wear resistance. Also, the life of the fence depends on the accuracy of handling it.

The advantages of wooden fences are:

  • environmental friendliness - absolutely pure natural material that does not harm the environment, the sanded fence is pleasant to the touch, it does not take sunlight, which is important for closely growing plants;
  • variability - compared to the factory version of the metal profile, which is usually installed in a vertical position, with wood, you can work out various options - horizontally, vertically, diagonally, interlacing, and also use boards of various lengths, widths and thicknesses;
  • ease of installation - the installation of a wooden fence does not require special skills, solid concreting and a large number of people, since a wooden fence is not heavy, it is easy to handle with one person;
  • aesthetics - the natural beauty of wood leads in the selection of materials for the future fence, it looks great in any landscape design solution.

It should be borne in mind that wood is “afraid” of exposure to moisture, as over time it begins to rot, blacken, and become covered with mold spots. To delay these unpleasant moments, it is necessary to carefully look after a wooden fence and carry out antiseptic prophylaxis for it in time. You should also pay attention to the combustibility of this building material and use special means for its impregnation-protection in order to avoid fire.
