Design of a room on the attic floor. Attic in the country (53 photos): construction and finishing of the room under the roof

Hello, dear readers! IN recent years, designers of private houses, often include an attic space in the design of a future residential building. In conditions of space saving land plot, the reception with an attic is very relevant, because if a family needs one or two more rooms, they will not need to be attached to the house, but all that remains is to properly think through the design of the attic.

An attic is a living space located under the roof, in the attic. At one time, this room was used exclusively for storing various rarely used things, but in 1630, the French architect Francois Mansart decided to use this attic room for residential purposes, and since then the attic, named after its creator, has gained popularity. In the attic you can place absolutely any room - bedroom, living room, bathroom, etc. That is, in fact, the interior design and its accessories can be anything, but you can study exactly how this or that room in the attic will look in the photo below.

How to arrange an attic.

Quite often, the attic is limited by the number of windows, so the room looks darkened. In order to somehow get away from the gloominess of the design, it is important to take care of high-quality artificial lighting or create additional windows in the roof itself. In addition, it is necessary to paint the walls, floor and ceiling in light shades; they can also be covered with light decorative plaster or paste suitable tones of wallpaper. If you wish on the contrary, create intimate setting with dim light, then take a closer look at lamps with colored diffused light and dark shimmering wallpaper.

1. Dining room.

The attic is perfect for decorating a dining room, especially if it has a large number of windows; in hot weather they can be covered with blinds. For convenience, it is necessary to provide several zones in the dining room: for cooking, relaxing and eating. The cooking area should include kitchen set with sink, refrigerator, stove and oven, the seating area should be complemented comfortable sofas, armchairs, TV and small coffee table. The most important attribute of the dining room is a large table, designed for an equally large company; you can choose soft benches, comfortable chairs or stools for the table. If you want to make the dining area more airy, take a closer look at glass tables and transparent plastic chairs.

2. Bedroom.

Very often, the attic is used as a bedroom, not only for family members, but also for guests. To make the room look as cozy as possible, use exclusively light, pastel colors for its decoration. So, for example, a blue tone will visually cool, and beige and yellow will warm. It would be great if the attic opens onto a small balcony and also includes a compact shower room and dressing room. Agree, it’s convenient when everything you need is at hand. As for furniture, it is better to install everything you need: bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers. If space allows, equip dressing room, if not, then install a cabinet; you can order a sliding wardrobe with beveled corners, installing it along the wall under the slope of the roof.

3. Kitchen.

In fact, the kitchen in the attic is equipped much less often than other rooms, perhaps because all family members spend most of the time on the lower floor and do not want to climb the stairs to have a snack. But be that as it may, the idea of having a kitchen in the attic has its place. To create a full-fledged kitchen, a connected water supply is required, kitchen wall, dining table with chairs, as well as the presence household appliances(refrigerator, oven, oven, microwave).

4. Children's room.

Children love to climb in attics, which means they will love the idea of creating a children's room in the attic. It will be especially important to highlight attic area as a nursery for two children. Place two beds, bedside tables, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers, and also think over the play area by ordering or building various ladders, slides, hang a punching bag, etc. But when creating a nursery in the attic, it is important to realize that children are very active, they will constantly run, jump and gallop, and accordingly all their movements will be heard in the lower part of the house.

5. Living room.

A wonderful solution for using an attic is to equip a living room, because such a room in the attic is very practical, it can be used at the same time for receiving guests, setting up a home theater and a dining room. It is in the living room that people usually sit calmly at the sofa, chat, watch TV, so those arriving on the first floor will not feel discomfort from their presence. In the living room, as noted above, you should install a sofa, a couple of armchairs, a coffee table (preferably a transformer, which, if necessary, can turn into a full-fledged table). Also here you can put a furniture wall for books, figurines, photo frames and a TV, lay a spectacular carpet on the floor, place stylish floor vases.

6. Dressing room.

Family members will appreciate the lack of closets on the ground floor, provided that a dressing room is created in the attic. Just imagine how much space will be saved in the main rooms if you remove cabinets from them. For greater convenience, you can equip a laundry room with a washing and drying machine in the dressing room, and install ironing board, and of course, think about the location of all kinds of shelves, drawers and rods for clothes and seasonal shoes.

7. Bathroom.

A bathroom in the attic is often equipped in addition to the bedroom. In general, several bathrooms in the house are a real salvation for big family, which avoids queues and conflicts. The design of such a bathroom is not particularly different from ordinary bathrooms, with the only exception that the ceiling part will be sloping and seem to hang over the head. In the bathroom, you can install a bath or shower at your discretion, the main thing is that there is running water.

8. Billiard room.

Of course, we all want to have a relaxation room in the house, so why not equip it in the attic. To prevent the ceiling surface from pressing, you can paint it in a light tone, place a sofa against the wall, a coffee table next to it, place a bar counter by the window, and install a billiard table in the middle of the room. This room can be decorated not only as a billiard room, but you can choose its direction based on your hobbies, you can decorate gym, winter garden, home theater, etc.

The attic floor of a private house is an excellent architectural solution. The idea itself arose back in the 17th century, when the architect Francois Mansart decided to make a cozy living space out of an abandoned attic. Today, this design is considered very popular in construction.

Countless photos of the attic floor presented on the Internet will tell you what kind of architectural and design solution take during construction own home. However, have general idea the peculiarities of design and construction, as well as finishing of such a structure, are still worthwhile.

Arrangement of the attic and its nuances

Attics being built today are located above the entire structure, or above part of it. Features of modern design make it possible to create houses with an attic floor in almost any architectural direction.

Wish rational use living space coupled with cost savings and usable area plots make the attic an extremely attractive object.

Its arrangement has its own characteristics: the additional floor is influenced both from the outside, where natural forces act, and from the inside - warm air from human life activity tends upward.

Therefore, all structures are carefully checked in terms of hydro-, steam- and thermal insulation. The roof must be properly selected, taking into account many nuances.

Attic design

Before starting construction, it is necessary to analyze the plan of the constructed house. If the construction of a building is just planned, it is worth thinking about its design features in advance, since the construction of an attic has certain requirements.

Construction necessarily involves taking into account the following parameters:

  • foundation analysis;
  • a clear relationship between the attic floor and communications;
  • communication between all rooms of the house;
  • shape and size of the object being developed.

The main requirement for the attic being built is the lightness of the materials used in the structural elements, optimal load, attributable to the foundation.

Construction of an attic over a finished building

The attic floor should be erected only after a technical examination has been carried out. Thanks to the examination, the forces acting on the walls and foundation of the building are determined.

Before you start designing, you should decide whether the future premises will be residential. If so, then the floor under construction may well become an area of high-quality recreation. If not, then using it as a storage facility will require a different approach to construction.

It is also necessary to consider the height of the roof; as a rule, the parameter ranges from 2.5 to 3.5 meters. Experts recommend not to deviate from this parameter.

Used on attic floor windows can be large, occupying up to 20% of the total area of the walls and roof, or small. Experts do not recommend violating these parameters.

After this, it is necessary to prepare a project for the attic floor and approve it with the customer. It is also necessary to obtain the appropriate permits.

Variety of sizes and shapes

The construction of an attic opens up enormous opportunities for realizing various kinds architectural solutions. An additional floor, which according to the standards is not considered full second floor, can be executed in various geometric shapes.

The simplest solution in terms of design, calculations and execution is provided gable roof, the system of which consists of rafter legs, resting on the walls and located parallel and in the same plane of purlins.

If selected sloping roof attic floor, parts (at least two) are formed from rafter legs, forming a broken line. Thanks to this solution, the attic space increases and the house takes on an original appearance.

Another interesting roof design option is remote consoles that increase the space from the inside.

Design features

The attic room is a connection between walls and ceiling. If you make the roof slopes steep, you can achieve a high ceiling and spaciousness. However, its construction should be guided building codes, according to which the ceiling height must be at least 2.3 m.

Premises where the ceiling height is less than 1.5 m are considered unsuitable for habitation. Particular attention should be paid to such a design point as tightening the rafters; if it is done poorly, the strengthening of the entire roof will be reduced to a minimum, and this entails a high risk of collapse of the rafter system.

Construction stages

During construction, even a slight discrepancy with the initially specified parameters often leads to the design of the attic floor receiving serious violations, and the safety of using the building will be at risk.

The materials used for the construction of walls must have special properties: be non-flammable and non-toxic.

Installing a roof is one of the most critical stages, since the roof is exposed to aggressive natural factors, transferring the load to the foundation. Huge value has insulation, it is necessary to use quality materials and technology.

All rooms are insulated from the inside using plasterboard or OSB boards, steam, heat and waterproofing materials.

The main requirement for windows is their tightness. In any case, the construction of an attic is a responsible matter; it is better to entrust it to professionals.

Attic interior design

Interior design depends on the purpose of using the room. When building from wood, it would be logical to use the same material in the design. As a plus, there is additional thermal insulation that wood will provide, and good microclimate inside the rooms.

Sometimes finishing material is a lining that can give a furnished bedroom on the attic floor an original look. If the room becomes an office, it makes sense to use MDF.

The brightness of the interior can be achieved using plasterboard sheets. For example, decorate all kinds of partitions and arches, or make suspended multi-level ceilings.

Undoubtedly, the attic is an excellent addition to a private home; it is functional and can decoratively complement the appearance of the building. For the safe and most comfortable use of the attic floor, it is necessary to take seriously the choice of all construction and finishing materials.

Preliminary and correctly made calculations are important, taking into account how total area structure and its geometric features.

Photo of the attic floor

The attic today is not just an attic floor, it is a need modern world use all useful areas for housing, and even fashion trend modern individual and large urban planning. Attics decorate private estates, country houses, high-rise buildings, which means that the design of the attic floor is more relevant than ever.

Entire apartments, bedrooms, children's rooms, offices, living rooms and even bathrooms are built in the attic. And in all cases, during the arrangement of the attic, the design is subject to design features attic floor. We have selected tips on how to correctly develop an attic design project, what must be taken into account so that the room is not only functional, does not lose any usable space, but is also modern, beautiful, comfortable and easy to use. The article also presents a photo gallery of practical and beautiful designs for the attic, perhaps some idea will be very successful for you.

Several conditions for successful attic design

When developing a design project for an attic with your own hands, it is necessary to take into account the specific geometry of the room: bevels, sharp corners, low ceilings. It is also important to take into account the location of the parts and components of the roof: beams, rafters, logs. Understand how stairs, doors, and sloping windows are located. Based on this, you can plan the design and furnishings, starting from the functional orientation of the attic floor: bedroom, kitchen, office, teenager’s room, billiard room, bathroom, etc.

Attic design, photo of zoning by beams

In the attic design special attention should be given to windows. If the glazing takes large areas, then the attic floor is transformed, sunlight floods the attic room, at night, when correct selection curtains, the starry sky becomes a natural decoration. And what can we say about luxurious views on the terrain, be it a natural landscape or an urban landscape. But large windows also have a disadvantage: firstly, heat loss, and secondly, in the rain, drops will rattle on the glass, creating unnecessary noise. It is also important not to overload the interior of the attic floor with heavy curtains, but also take care of reliable protection from the bright sun and moonlight. The choice of curtains depends on the purpose and size of the attic; if it is a large bedroom, then you can hang bulky curtains with the “day-night” option, but in a small attic bedroom or cottage it is better to limit yourself to a compact roller blind.

Attic design in the country, photo demonstrates the advantages large windows, through which the beautiful landscape of the area is clearly visible

Beams and posts can become accent details in the design of the attic floor. They can simply be sanded, brushed, aged, coated with oil, enamel or varnish. Or you can decorate, for example, artificial stone or marble plaster, the result will be columns, like in a knight’s castle, placed next to climbing plants, which will braid the pillar. Finishing the pillars “like brick” will add a touch of Provence to the design; forged lamps will come in handy here, elegant chairs and a table.

Vertical beams and bevels can become accent design elements

The color palette of the attic design depends on who will use the room; it is logical for a young housewife to use delicate, slightly muted shades

You can place sofas and ottomans under the slopes, build in cabinets and shelves, arrange flowers, the main thing is to use all the space rationally. In a teenager’s room, it is important to place a study table near the window and provide enough storage space. If a child is passionate about music, then it is necessary to think about good noise insulation. Very often an office is set up in the attic, in which case the design is kept in classic style, the attic is trimmed with wood, a place for a desk is selected, cabinets for the library are planned, a relaxation area with a sofa and armchairs is allocated.

The competent design of the attic floor allows for maximum use of space; even low spaces in the attic can be used to their full potential

To decide which attic design is closer to you, we will then talk about the advantages and disadvantages of different styles, figure out what is best for the bedroom, and what technique to use, for example, in the living room under the sky. Agree, if this is a bathroom, it can be decorated like a pond on the edge of a forest, or like a bowl of a waterfall, or go the traditional way, finishing all surfaces with tiles, or stylize it like a log bathhouse.

Children's room in the attic, photo interior design in rich colors

What is good for a child’s room: bright rich colors, lamps in the shape of the sun or stars, a crib-type car, a sports corner with rope ladders, or a playroom decorated like a pirate ship, is completely unsuitable for teenage room. View photo galleries with different attic designs, watch videos on design non-standard premises, you will definitely find some idea for yourself, around which your individual design will be built.

Any design should have an idea that sets the tone for the decoration

Paints

Needless to say, color is the main instrument on which all the “music” of the interior will have to be played. Arrangement: shades, tones, combinations, contrast - depends on the mood of the author. We can conditionally divide the palette into 3 parts: design in light or dark colors, bright, rich, contrasting design, or the use of warm and cold shades. When decorating a room, you can go in two ways in selecting color range: contrast or similarity, when different shades of the same color are used.

Bedroom in the attic design, photo of a skillful combination different shades same color

Choice color palette in design depends on what will be located on the attic floor. The design of an attic bedroom can be made in warm, pastel colors, then the room will be airy and romantic. Or perhaps you like rich red-brown shades combined with beige, then the mood in the bedroom will change diametrically; such an interior is suitable for passionate and temperamental natures.

Contrasting the features of the attic makes the design graphic and allows you to emphasize the non-standard nature of the room

A room for a girl suggests delicate pink, white, cream, lilac, green shades, while for a boy - gray, metallic, blue. It's simple, if you want an airy, bright attic, use pastel colors. Do you want an authentic but cozy “cave” under the sky, where people timidly make their way sun rays, then choose dark, rich colors.

About visual effects in attic design

The design of attic rooms is subject to the basic rules of space formatting. Glossy ceilings and the floors visually make the room higher, the attic roof no longer puts pressure. A light ceiling in combination with dark walls also raises the attic, but it becomes “smaller” in area. An attic sheathed with wood in a circle creates the impression of the integrity of the space, but it is closed; thus, you will not add space to the attic floor. Walls covered with light wallpaper in a small pattern will, on the contrary, “push apart” the boundaries of the attic if you divide the vertical planes in half with a horizontal line and decorate the bottom in a more dark color, then the room will become lower, and if you use the same technique 2/3 of the floor, it will rise.

Don't be afraid creative ideas in attic design, they are the ones who make the interior bright, extraordinary, memorable

Stretch ceilings with lighting, artistic paintings on the walls, self-leveling floors with a 3D effect can visually change not only the slope of the walls and roof, but also achieve a feeling of limitless space.

The design of a two-level attic should harmoniously connect the floors, emphasizing the unity of space

If the attic is high, then it is recommended to divide some part of the room into different levels. The arrangement of the second floor allows you to make the most of all corners of a complex space: organize an additional bedroom, a play area or a place to relax.

Advice: when arranging the second floor in the attic, think about safety, be sure to provide railings to a height of no less than 1200 mm, or a fence made of decorative lattice, mesh, forged elements, balusters.

The irregular shapes of the attic floor make the design exciting, full of surprises and non-standard solutions creative process. Experiment, there can be many design options, use the tips in our article on organizing space, look at photo ideas for attic design, don’t be afraid to fantasize, use unusual techniques, use for interior decoration not only traditional, but also the newest facing materials. And then the design of the attic floor will no longer be typical, dull, but will become a source of pride for you and will arouse the delight and admiration of your household and guests.

The best interiors of attic rooms: bedroom, nursery, living room

The idea of arranging a living room in the attic usually comes to us when the family needs another separate bedroom. Small room under the roof of the house is ideally suited for such purposes. Even a very modest interior can be made cozy and beautiful if you manage the space correctly. The main element of any bedroom - the bed - must be placed so that you can get up from it freely without hitting your head on the ceiling. If there are slanted windows between the attic rafters, the bed can be placed under them to admire the clouds and stars.

Advice Place the bed with the headboard towards the lowest part of the walls, and closer to the middle of the room. Then the room will not “put pressure” on you, and the bed will be comfortable to get up.

A successful attic bedroom interior means not only correct location beds, but also proper use free space near the walls for organizing storage areas. Ordinary cabinet furniture rarely fits into such a room due to the sloping ceiling. The only way out in this case is to make or order built-in furniture yourself according to your measurements. Carefully thought out bedroom interior with mansard roof will allow you to allocate special cabinets and shelves for storing clothes, bed linen, cosmetics, books, souvenirs and other attributes of bedroom life.

If there are two children in a family, and especially if they are of different sexes, the task of planning the attic interior becomes much more complicated for them. Even kids have a need for personal space, and when there is very little of it, as in the case of a nursery in the attic, it can be very difficult to correctly delimit the interior.

Idea If you have two children of different sexes, divide the attic in two exactly in the middle using a small plasterboard partition, and decorate the resulting halves of the room in accordance with the wishes of your children.

What a modern attic looks like: unusual style

The interior of the attic room can be decorated in one of the popular styles so that every detail fits perfectly into the overall concept. This approach is a kind of “aerobatics”; it is the most labor-intensive and costly, but the result is worth it. Our material “Design and style of the attic” is specifically devoted to this issue. And here we invite you to take a look at the style in which the attic is most often decorated, the photos below will show best examples interiors.

Attic bedroom, decorated in the popular Provence style using light furniture, soft green textiles and wall frescoes

Attic interior design in Provence style is very popular, as it is ideal for small cozy rooms under the roof of the house. French Provence is the twin brother of the well-known country style. However, to the shabby and bleached wooden furniture and natural stone finishing are added carved and forged elements, bright and light floral patterns, as if carried away into sunny summer. Another variation on the theme of provincial romance - alpine chalet. This style is manifested in tapestries, rugs, hand embroidery, wooden beams on the ceiling and the indispensable fireplace.

As children, many of us dreamed of having our own room in the attic of our house. We perceive the attic (attic) as a secluded, cozy and even a little mysterious place. It’s probably not for nothing that creative people (sculptors, artists, writers) love to set up their workshops in the attic.

Many people often use the attic as a utility room or storage room. This is the most standard and, in general, not interesting option.

After all, due to attic room You can significantly expand the living space of a house or apartment. A children's room, a billiards room, a gym, a study, a bedroom, a bathroom - all these rooms can be located in the attic and will fit well into the interior of the house as an additional floor. It all depends only on your imagination and the available space.

For comfortable access to the attic floor, compact folding or sliding stairs. They are used to save space on the lower floor. But, if such a task is not worth it, then an excellent option would be a standard, stationary one with a slight slope or spiral staircase. It will also be safe for children or older people.

It makes no difference whether you are making an attic in an old attic or in an apartment under a roof; in any case, you should pay attention to some features in the repair and design of such premises. Sloping walls and windows, sloped ceilings and different heights require compliance with certain rules in the design of the attic.

Initially, the attic is a dark and gloomy room. You can change the situation by installing special skylights, which will turn it into the brightest and most illuminated room, filling natural light. The design of an attic, for any purpose, is closely related to the location of the windows. It is necessary to make maximum use of natural light, as well as emphasize the views from the panoramic windows.

It is important to choose the right curtains for roof windows. Due to the design features, they are made to order, for example in the form of thick roller blinds or special pleated curtains. In most interiors, such curtains are controlled remotely, which is very convenient.

Furniture to order. Most often, the attic has sloping ceilings, which makes it difficult to rationally use the space when installing wardrobes. The ideal solution would be to use cabinet furniture and sliding wardrobes, which are made to order and can have any size and shape.

Proper arrangement of furniture. In the attic small size it is worth using a minimal amount of the most necessary furniture. And the correct arrangement will visually expand the room and create a feeling of free space.

In the bedroom, designers advise placing the head of the bed against a low part of the wall. This way your gaze will always be directed towards the expanding space. You can always fall asleep looking at the starry sky and wake up to the first rays of the sun of a new day if you place your bed under a sloping window.

In a children's room, the furniture should be arranged a little differently. It is recommended to place the bed along a high wall. If the height allows, then you can make a play area, and right above it make a so-called loft bed. Place low furniture for storing toys near low walls.

It is a little more difficult to arrange a bathroom or kitchen in the attic. Most likely, you cannot do without builders and designers here, since it is necessary to carry out communications, as well as strengthen the floor for additional loads.

In order to emphasize the unusual shape of a window, it is not necessary to spend a lot of money and effort - it is enough to use an ordinary curtain (organza) and an additional cornice under the window opening. Now you can easily attach the bottom edge of a curtain or curtain to it.

The apartment in Poznań was previously an attic space. Studio Cuns has designed an interior that uses old brickwork and the wooden ceiling structures of the former attic.

The main idea was the organization of free space and the absence of large interior walls. There is a theme in the interior Scandinavian style and loft style elements. The previously gloomy attic space is now filled with light, comfortable and looks modern. The kitchen, bathroom and small dining room fit seamlessly into the interior, thanks to the almost complete absence of walls and neutral colors.
