Target: to place in a narrow passage and minimal hallway space a place to place current clothes, shoes, a small pile of accessories and a mirror for a family of 4 people. Moreover, do this as inexpensively and quickly as possible, in short, assemble the wardrobe with your own hands.

Attention: the calculation is made for a separate case. For other cabinet models, the scheme is the same, the only difference is in the costs and amount of material. To visualize and calculate dimensions, it is convenient to use our online wardrobe designer.

Tools you will need:
  • drill for confirmation
  • square
  • roulette
  • screwdriver
  • level
  • pencil
  • straight arms

Cost

  • cash - about 11,000 rubles
  • temporary - 1 day

Materials

We go to Leroy Merlin, buy components there and cut them as needed. If Leroy is not in your city, you will have to look in local stores.

  • Guide set 1383 mm - 1 piece
  • Sliding door, 2455x604 mm - 1 piece
  • Furniture part laminated chipboard, 1200x300x16 mm - 3 pieces, sawed exactly in half
  • Furniture part laminated chipboard, 2700x400x16 mm - 4 pieces, we saw them in height, as well as two pieces for parts with widths of 350 and 366 mm.
  • Furniture part laminated chipboard, 2700x300x16 mm - 1 piece
  • Sectoral laminated chipboard shelf, 350x350x16 mm - 6 pcs.
  • Schlegel - 5 meters, door stops - 2 pcs.
  • Confirmats (a lot), 16mm screws (a bunch) and furniture corners, 30 pieces

Assembly

We do the preliminary assembly of the corner elements. We combine sheets with a width of 350 and 366 mm, as indicated in the figure, and first tighten them with confirmations. It’s convenient to do this on an editing table, but in the absence of one, you can also use stools. Here we attach the sectors with 2 confirmata on each side. To ensure an even placement of the confirmations, it is recommended to make preliminary markings. For a wide sheet, one confirmation per sector is sufficient for now. We repeat the procedure on a symmetrical element.

WITH assembled structure remove the wide (side) sheet of chipboard (it will get in the way) and place the half-assembled structures against the wall. This should be done carefully so as not to scratch the ceiling or tear off the sector elements.

Again, more specifically, we assemble the side elements. At this stage, you can attach the entire structure to the floor and ceiling, if you are confident in the accuracy of the markings. Assembling a wardrobe with your own hands does not tolerate mistakes. When fastening, be sure to check the vertical installation

We install a vertical sheet 30 cm wide in the center of the structure. We install rectangular shelves, securing them with furniture corners to vertical risers, given that these shelves are installed on the same level with the sector elements, confirmations from the sectors will be hidden.

Now you can finally attach the structure to the walls and ceiling. The structure itself is quite massive and a pair of fasteners for each vertical element is enough - a total of 6 pieces.

We install the guide under the clothes and screw the hooks for clothes. The quantity is optional, but in practice a couple of hooks are enough in the corner, and 3-4 inside half the cabinet.
Cut the guides to the required length. You will need to saw off half of the top one - in connection with one door it is not needed, and it will not physically fit. The top can be secured, the bottom can be simply placed for now, its fastening will come later. Don't forget to put door stoppers in the bottom guide

We install the door in its place. We check that the door fits well into the upper guide and does not fall out of it. To lift the door, you can place a laminated chipboard strip under the bottom guide - sheets 100 mm wide are sold in Leroy. It can be raised to a small height by adjusting the rollers. We control the vertical installation of the door and finally secure the lower guide.

Now you can attach a schlegel and a mirror to the door if desired, install the door in place and use the screws on the lower rollers to adjust its position relative to the cabinet body.

Amazing! So we assembled the wardrobe with our own hands. Over the course of a year of operation, it performed just fine.

Sometimes the assortment in stores is striking in its monotony. Many apartment owners know that choosing furniture for the hallway is very difficult. If the room is small, then the cabinets simply do not fit into it or they fill everything free space. But owners of spacious hallways also find themselves in difficult situation- the presented models do not always meet the needs of the owners and often look big room ridiculous.

If you cannot choose a suitable cabinet, then do not be upset and think about creating the ideal furniture for the hallway with your own hands. This approach will help you save money and also get a model that suits you in all respects.

Can a beginner cope with such a task? home handyman"? Yes, the desire and presence of everyone necessary tools and materials will lead you to a positive result. Of course, it is better for inexperienced craftsmen to stick to the most simple models. But those who have made furniture more than once can create a real work of art.

To make it easier for you to deal with difficult work, we have prepared special instructions, drawings and diagrams.

How to make a hallway with your own hands?

First, you should decide on the model and dimensions. If we are talking about a tiny room, then you should not overload it with furniture - use a standard hallway with a small compartment for outerwear, shoes and necessary things.

In the spacious hallway you can place a spacious wardrobe. If the space allows, then such a closet can easily turn into a real one - the dream of every woman. The costs of such a complex project increase in proportion to the size and content of the cabinet.

You may also want to consider an option that compromises between space and appearance. So, corner hallways visually look much smaller. But at the same time, the greater depth allows you to place a lot of things inside.

By selecting suitable model, you can start taking measurements and preparing calculations. Also be sure that you have all the tools that professionals use.

Required materials and tools

Prepare in advance:

  • saw or jigsaw,
  • screwdriver,
  • sandpaper,
  • construction knife,
  • furniture screws,
  • roulette,
  • corners,
  • loops.

You will also need material for making a hallway. We recommend giving you preference to furniture board, since it is made from natural ingredients without the use of synthetic resins. Such a shield is completely safe for the health of people living in the house. However, this material has a high cost.

More popular common laminated chipboard. It contains bonding resins, which can negatively affect the occupants of the house if the edges of the laminated board are not covered with edging. But at the same time, the material has relatively low price and excellent characteristics (easy to work with).

Do-it-yourself standard hallway: instructions, diagrams and drawings

To make such simple hallway, you will need the following materials:

  • loops - 12 pcs.
  • furniture panels- 7 pcs (dimensions 1600x400x18 mm),
  • piece of plywood 6 mm,
  • tongue and groove boards - 2 pcs (dimensions 2000x240x18 mm),
  • furniture handles - 6 pcs.,
  • three-dimensional rail - 1 piece (dimensions 3000x40x12).

We recommend you start with a pencil case. Its dimensions are 2000x400x400 mm. The corresponding strips are cut out from the furniture sheet, as well as the top cover in an “overlapping” manner. Also you will need two shelves. Assembly is quite simple. The slats are arranged parallel and fastened into the lid using self-tapping screws; shelves are also installed. For strength in the corners, the frame is fixed with corners cut from plywood.

Since two doors located one below the other are much lighter than one, this option is preferable. From the shield you need to cut two identical doors and several internal shelves (optional). Secure the doors on their hinges. You can get by with two for each door, but for reliability and proper weight distribution, we recommend using three.

The dimensions of one cabinet are 400x400x820, and the other - 820x400x490 mm. You can refuse any of them without damaging the design as a whole.

To assemble the first cabinet you will need 2 identical side panels and an internal shelf that will hold the structure together from below. The upper part of the future cabinet narrows greatly, so the lid should be noticeably smaller than the main part. All elements are fastened with self-tapping screws. If desired, you can use furniture dowels. Don't forget to pre-drill the holes and use glue.

A door for the bedside table is cut out of the shield; it needs to be secured on two hinges. But for drawer need runners. We recommend that you purchase necessary elements in a specialty store. You can make them yourself from plywood, but in this case the box will pull out rather than roll out, making it much more difficult to use.

Making a second cabinet is very easy. You only need two sides and 2 internal shelves that form the frame. Internal filling This cabinet can be absolutely anything. All parts are attached with self-tapping screws or dowels.

After this, the hallway needs to be assembled. Fasten all the elements together, and then prepare the boards. They should be beautifully located from the edge of the pencil case to the edge of the cabinet, creating the basis for the hanger. Maintain the same spacing when attaching the boards to the underside of the nightstands. To ensure that the upper part of the structure is also strong, fasten the boards with a lath. Place it at such a height that you can later attach coat hooks to the rail. If you wish, you can complement the design with a shelf for hats.

Don't forget to varnish the hallway and attach handles and hooks.

DIY wardrobe: instructions, diagrams and drawings

It's much easier to do than it might seem. But first you need to decide on the exact meaning of this term. "Wardrobe" involves special design doors that move on runners along the cabinet body. It can be either built-in or free-standing.

If you wish, you you can make the cabinet body from plasterboard and thus hide it in a false wall. But we'll consider classic scheme manufacturing a wardrobe with side walls.

This model with dimensions 2020x625x2320 consists of several main parts.

  • The side racks should be 2288x625 mm high (these calculations take into account the thickness of the sheets of the upper and lower strips - 32mm).
  • Also large parts are the lower and upper strips: 2020x625 mm.
  • The middle vertical posts are inextricably linked to the clothes rail. As a rule, it is mounted at a height of 1900 mm, so standard size for them - height 1900 mm, width 525 mm. The remaining 100 mm is a margin for the normal functioning of sliding doors.

The filling of the cabinet can be anything. It all depends on your desires and preferences, but remember that there should be room inside to accommodate mounting systems.

It is best to order all parts from a carpentry workshop. Even an experienced craftsman will not always be able to cut out elements of the desired shape at home.

After this you can start assembling the cabinet. For installation, we recommend using not only screws and dowels, but also furniture corners. The rails are installed inside the cabinet in a specially designated area (those 100mm that we left when preparing the parts). After this, you can put the door back in place and use the cabinet.

DIY corner hallway: instructions, diagrams and drawings

Problem encountered when creating corner hallway, is that it is required careful calculations, the slightest mistake can cost a whole sheet of material. First you need to take measurements and check the walls. If the surface of the walls is curved, then you cannot do without a common frame. Otherwise, the walls themselves can serve as a base to which you can screw shelves. The second option is more economical and simpler, but we will consider a separate cabinet, since it is ideal smooth walls- this is very rare.

Select suitable drawing , based on the size of the room, the length of the walls and proximity doorways. Consider the interior of the cabinet. According to the chosen dimensions, make six main body elements:

  • lower and upper bars,
  • back walls (2 pcs),
  • side walls(you can do without them, but the functionality of the cabinet will decrease).

Once you have the frame assembled, you can begin installing interior shelves, baskets and drawers, as well as hooks and rods.

The corner hallway can be equipped with doors on rollers, turning the structure into corner cabinet-coupe. But budget swing doors will also look good.

How to make a hallway with your own hands: video

The sliding wardrobe is very popular due to its versatility and ability to save space. In such furniture you can store things both in a folded and free position on hangers. Let's start to figure it out.

Installation method

Depending on the principle of installation of such furniture, there are such varieties.

Installation in a niche of the room

It is considered the most economical option, requiring a little free time and effort from you. IN in this case the niche serves as a ready-made basis for the wardrobe, into which it is necessary to build shelves, doors and fittings. The most important thing here is that you will already have the lid, bottom, back and side walls.

Important! Such a cabinet will fit perfectly into the interior of a bedroom or hallway that has a technological niche in its space.

Installation along a blank wall

This option has similarities, but differs in that the niche is replaced by a wide blank wall. A cabinet installed along the wall has the right to exist in small apartments, where part of the living room needs to be made into a miniature dressing room, thereby saving space for other interior items.

Installation in the corner of the room

This arrangement implies the manufacture of a structure according to a specific sketch, completely corresponding to the installation location of the product. The elements of cabinet furniture are collected here: the top cover, walls and bottom.

Important! Most often, a corner cabinet is installed in a hallway or living room with a blank wall adjacent to the doorway.

Installation in a closet

Often this structure can be found in apartment building. This is a very profitable option for one reason: all the contents of the cabinet are hidden from prying eyes and do not take up any space at all. usable area the entire room. To make such a structure, you will need to build shelves and a retractable door.

Location

One of the advantages of a wardrobe is that it can be installed in any part of the apartment. Here are the most popular options.

Hallway

Most often, it is advisable to store in corridor cabinets outerwear. That is why in the manufacture of the structure it is necessary to take into account the location of at least one section with a horizontal pipe.

  • It is better to make a closet with two main sections - for seasonal clothes and clothes for other seasons.
  • The next compartment should be designed for small items - gloves, bags and umbrellas.
  • But shoes should be stored in the lower compartment of the closet.

Important! It is advisable to make all compartments closed to hide the contents from prying eyes. At least one part of the structure must be equipped with a large external mirror, allowing you to see yourself in full height.

Living room

The purpose of the wardrobe in the living room is storage light clothing, dishes, household appliances, documents. That is why it is necessary to build a structure with a varied configuration of niches and shelves. The fittings for such a cabinet should be made with the function of easy access to everything you need.

Important! Sometimes the central part of such a structure is left open, and the side shelves serve as a stand for a TV and other multimedia equipment. In this case, it remains relevant to install a full-length mirror on the front panel of the wardrobe.

Children's room

A wardrobe for a children's room should be multifunctional - it should store not only clothes, but also books, toys, and other necessary things for the child. For such a design it would be advisable to do large number open sections that will be at an accessible level for taking this or that item.

Base materials

To make a wardrobe in the hallway or another room with your own hands, use different materials. It all depends on the goals and financial capabilities, the design of the room.

Laminated chipboard, fibreboard, MDF

These materials are suitable for the manufacture of any cabinet furniture:

  • They are considered universal, practical, durable, resistant to external factors (sun, heat, moisture), and easy to process.
  • They are produced in the form of shields different sizes, which allows you to significantly save material.
  • The modern market presents different color scheme and a variety of imitations, with which you can build a wardrobe with your own hands to suit the interior of any room.

Important! The most suitable laminated chipboards are 16 mm thick boards of different densities.

Wood

Such raw materials are not very suitable for the manufacture of wardrobes due to the fact that this material more difficult to process, it easily absorbs moisture. The situation can be corrected by applying a special protective solution and stain. This way you can increase the moisture resistance and visual appeal of your new product several times.

Drywall

Of course, it can be used as a raw material for built-in cabinets, but it should be taken into account that this material is fragile. That is why drywall is usually combined with wide metal profiles.

Plastic

It is quite easy to work with: it can be easily processed, and the structure can be assembled using self-tapping screws. The only negative is the low resistance to external damage and the short service life of the product.

Internal organization

The placement process is a rather responsible, but solvable task. The internal contents of the wardrobe determine its contents. The main thing here is to adhere to three rules:

  • Place dry clothes on the central and side shelves.
  • Place necessary and small things in front of your eyes.
  • Keep valuable documents in the top drawers.
  • Put wet outerwear aside to the side of the structure.

Important! As you already understood, from proper installation The durability of the cabinet depends on the internal sections. So, for example, it is not advisable to place a compartment for outerwear and casual clothing in the center of a wardrobe, since dampness and moisture from it will spread across all shelves. It is advisable to hang walking clothes on the side of the structure, where the moisture will gradually come out.

Door device

Doors can be placed on different fasteners. Here are the most popular options for making a wardrobe in the hallway or bedroom with your own hands:

  • Top rail. Not very common for the production of wardrobes, despite the fact that the main burden of the canvas is taken by the ceiling. This is due to the fact that the door can easily fall inside the cabinet, so the bottom of the structure needs to be supplemented with one guide.
  • Monorail. In this case, all guides with rollers are installed on each door. Such a mechanism is attached to the ceiling by several guides, and the bottom of the structure cannot do without one long guide in the center of the cabinet.
  • Bottom rail. This option is very popular nowadays due to its ease of use and affordable pricing policy. The cabinet doors will not fall out of the installed guides and collide when they come into contact with each other.

Important! Be careful when choosing rollers for the guides, since they will bear the load of the entire structure.

Certainly, this work you can do it yourself using a jigsaw, but you only need to choose this option for experienced builders. It’s better to contact a furniture shop, provide your blanks and a diagram of the future cabinet, so that specialists can make samples according to an individual sketch.
  2. We cut profiles, doors and guides using a miter saw or a hacksaw for metal.
  3. Sanding the ends sandpaper coarse and then fine grain to make the surface of the material as smooth as possible.
  4. We apply a melamine edge to the ends of the shelves and walls of our structure. This job will not take you much time using regular iron and a construction knife.
  5. We apply the edge to the end and iron it with an iron. Under the influence high temperature The glue melts quickly and then hardens. It is this interaction that ensures good adhesion of the elements.
  6. Trimming construction knife protruding edges. Sand the cut areas using sandpaper.
  7. Since we are building a built-in wardrobe, we also tidy up the walls of this room to install it. We clean them of old coating (wallpaper, paint, etc.), and then cover the surface with a water-polymer solution of PVA in 3 layers. Don't forget the fact that each layer needs at least a day to dry. After all the procedures done, we cover the walls with paint or wallpaper of your choice.

Assembly:

  • We assemble the outer walls of our future structure in a horizontal position. We attach them to the lid and bottom using corners or confirmations.

Important! To perform such work, we use clamps and a square so that the walls become appendicular to each other. But dowels embedded in PVA glue will make the fastening secure.

  • We attach the legs to the bottom of the product with self-tapping screws. We install the back wall (if available) with a stapler, screws or nails.
  • Now we check the size of the wardrobe at the location of the niche. We carry out this procedure building level, which will show the correct installation of the product relative to the vertical and horizontal axes.
  • We assemble partitions, compartments and shelves with already installed corners. If the cabinet does not have side walls, we attach the shelves to the walls of the existing niche using metal corners. We carry out similar manipulations with vertical partitions, only now we attach the parts to the ceiling and floor.
  • We install the fittings with self-tapping screws.
  • We install guides (upper and lower) for fastening sliding doors, which we hang after their installation.
  • So you have learned how to make a wardrobe with your own hands. Yes, this is not very easy to do, but it is quite possible. The most important thing is that you received new multifunctional furniture, the design of which includes all the wishes of its happy owner!

The problem of lack of free space is familiar to everyone. Where can we find a way out of this situation? The solution is simple - install a wardrobe, and the appearance of your home will completely change.

What are the benefits of built-in wardrobes (in the hallway or bedroom)?

  • most often it is installed in a niche of the room, thus saving precious centimeters of living space (this is very important, especially if the apartment is small);
  • Due to its design, it can accommodate a large number of things. It is much more spacious than ordinary bulky cabinets;
  • the main component of such a cabinet is sliding doors. Thanks to them, the wardrobe can stand very close to the sofa and there will never be any discomfort when opening and closing the doors;
  • has a wonderful appearance. Depending on personal preference, this type furniture can be made truly unique: it is decorated with mirrors, drawings, etc.;
  • often performs by zoning the area of the room;
  • there is no empty space between it and the wall, which is usually an additional dust collector;
  • Safes, sockets and switches are often placed inside it, without spoiling the appearance of the walls of the apartment.

When deciding to have such a miracle at home, it is better to make a wardrobe yourself, because the cost of it in the store will not be affordable for everyone (from 13,000 to 300,000 rubles).

What type of wardrobe is better to choose?

Depending on the presence or absence of cabinet walls, this type of furniture has several types. Complete absence of side walls, top and bottom. They are completely replaced by the walls, floor and ceiling of the room (read how to properly plaster a ceiling). The shelves in such a cabinet are attached directly to the walls.

Let's consider features of this model:

  • the costs of manufacturing such furniture are minimal, because you only need to purchase chipboard for shelves;
  • have a large internal volume.

Among the disadvantages, it should only be noted that such a built-in wardrobe model is considered absolutely non-transportable. It will not be possible to move her to any other apartment.

  • Partial or complete presence of walls. The total cost of such a cabinet will be slightly higher than that of the previously reviewed models. However, they have one significant advantage - the ability to transport and install in another place (sometimes used as ordinary cabinets).

All types of built-in wardrobes can have doors or be without them. It depends on the personal preferences of each individual person.

Secrets to choosing the right height and width

Width of built-in wardrobe depends on the size of the niche in which it will be located. Determining how many doors are needed (their maximum width is 90 cm), special attention you need to pay attention to the guides along which the wheels will move. Their size does not exceed 4 m or 5 m (this depends on the manufacturer).

If the width of the recess in the wall is greater, then a chipboard partition will have to be installed between the guides. This must be done because metal joints will quickly deteriorate the condition of the door wheels.

Visually, it will never be noticeable that the cabinet consists of several parts. Everyone will close the sliding doors.

The smallest width of such furniture should not be less than 100 cm. This is explained by the fact that doors that are too narrow do not have good stability. If you still can’t do without small size wardrobe, you need to think about replacing the wheels in the guides with swing mechanisms.

The height of the built-in wardrobe depends on whether there is or is not in the room suspended ceiling. Depending on this condition, this type of furniture has some varieties.

Height depends on the height of the niche:

  • if it is small (up to 200 cm), then it will not be possible to make the furniture different;
  • in the case when the height of the room is within 280 cm, then the cabinet is made up to the ceiling, because the traditional size chipboard sheets is 278 cm;
  • if you need to make the cabinet tall, then place a mezzanine on its upper part or extend the side walls of the entire structure. The mezzanine has its own doors with individual guides.
  • The maximum height should not exceed 4 m.

In addition, the height of the built-in wardrobe depends on whether or not there is a suspended ceiling in the room (read how to wash a stretch ceiling without streaks). Depending on this condition, this type of furniture has several varieties:

  • if the cabinet has a wooden top cover that is not screwed to the ceiling and the distance between them is within a few centimeters, the product is made up to the ceiling;
  • in some cases, the top furniture rail can be mounted directly to the ceiling. This can be done if, before installing the stretch ceiling, concrete base screw wooden beam. The cabinet guide is screwed directly to it with self-tapping screws. In this case, there will not be the slightest gap between the furniture and the ceiling;
  • the furniture does not reach the ceiling, but the intermediate distance is covered with a decorative wooden or plastic strip;
  • built-in wardrobe below the ceiling 50 cm or more. In this case, the gap is not closed by a mezzanine.

Step-by-step guide: making a built-in wardrobe

Preparatory stage

First of all, you need to take care of the condition of the niche in which the future structure will be located. To do this, it is cleaned of old finishing materials and the surface is well leveled (find out about this).

If the wardrobe does not have walls at all, then the surface of the recess in the wall can be painted in any color or covered with new wallpaper.

In the case when the furniture is mounted with side, top, bottom and rear walls, the niche must be absolutely flat. You can check this using plumb lines and levels. It is also necessary to measure the diagonals of the recess: from the upper right corner to the lower left and vice versa.

They must be absolutely the same. Will help correct all errors cement mortar or plaster. This is done in order to avoid distortions in the wardrobe.

After completing all preparatory work, must be done drawing of the future cabinet. In this case, be sure to take into account the number, size and location of shelves. Only in this case will it be possible to make it truly convenient for all family members.

Having determined the width of the built-in wardrobe, you need to mark the places where the guides are attached along which the sliding doors will move.

Then the materials are selected. It is necessary to think about what the doors will be made of. If they are of poor quality, there is a possibility that they will be difficult to open. Preference should be given laminated chipboard thickness from 0.8 cm.

Its average cost is 190 rubles. for 1 m2. When calculating the width of the required canvas, remember that one part must overlap the other by at least 50 mm.

You can also use glass doors, but their cost starts from 20,000 rubles. They are really durable because they are made from very strong, thick glass.

It is possible to prevent cracking of such material by covering it with a special reinforcing film. It will not be possible to install rollers on this type of sliding door without the help of a professional.

The assembly process can only begin when all visible parts of the chipboard have a beautiful edge.

Required Tools for assembly:

  • drill;
  • roulette;
  • screwdriver;
  • hammer;
  • construction corner;
  • hex wrench;
  • pencil.

Preparing the walls

Assemble the entire structure. If there are shelves, make sure that they do not extend beyond the cabinet.

  • Using a tape measure and a pencil, make markings along which the cabinet will be assembled;
  • put marks for shelves;
  • on all planes make holes through with an 8 mm drill, at the ends with a 5 mm drill (the depth should not exceed 0.6 cm);
  • assemble the entire structure. If there are shelves, make sure that they do not extend beyond the cabinet (this will interfere with the doors);
  • insert stoppers for canvases into the lower guide;
  • screw the upper and lower guides to the niche with self-tapping screws (parallel to each other);
  • for the stability of the canvases, screw at least two rollers on top and bottom;
  • insert the doors into the guides.

If there is no additional wardrobe, it is inserted into a recess in the wall and leveled using a level. You can screw furniture to the walls using dowels and screws.

Installation of a built-in wardrobe

For reliability, the structure is attached to the niche with dowels and screws.

  • make markings on the wall (location of shelves);
  • screw the metal corners to the walls with self-tapping screws (this is the base for the shelves);
  • secure the shelves to the corners;
  • connect the lower, upper and side parts to each other;
  • for reliability, the structure is attached to the niche with dowels and screws;
  • install guides to the lid and bottom of the cabinet;
  • Attach the rollers to the doors and insert them into the guides.

Sometimes after installing the doors, a small gap appears between her and the wall. A hexagon will help fix this. They need to tighten the bolt that secures the lower rollers.

How can you tell if a wardrobe is assembled correctly?

The following indicators will help determine this:

  • Complete absence of gaps between the doors and the wall.
  • The door leaves move freely along the guides.
  • All drawers (if any) open freely.
  • The canvases have an overlap.
  • The gap between the rod for hanging things on it (if there is one) and the back wall of the cabinet (or niche) should be at least 23 cm.

Having made a drawing and diagram of the cabinet and ordered materials, you can, of course, entrust the assembly work to a professional. However, you need to take into account that the cost of his services will cost approximately 3500-9000 rubles.

That is why, if you invite an assistant home, you can install the entire structure, the frame for the built-in wardrobe, yourself. The main thing is, already at initial stages maintain all verticals and horizontals, which will ensure the correct position of the entire built-in wardrobe and excellent operation of its doors.

Anyone can set their teeth on edge when there is a mess in the house, as scattered things have an extremely annoying effect on household members. There is not always space to store property, so many owners solve this problem by installing a wardrobe. Convenient place its placement is in the hallway and bedroom. We suggest you learn how to make a hallway cabinet with your own hands, and to make the process of creating this piece of furniture more understandable, explanatory photos are attached to it.

Possible cabinet options

A sliding wardrobe located in the wall is widely used in homes, as it has an excellent ability to accommodate a sufficient number of things. It takes a small amount square meters and allows residents to move freely around the house. This cabinet plays a useful role in indoors, and it won’t be difficult to do it.

The most common types of sliding wardrobes can be viewed in the photo. For convenience, many owners place this structure, built into a niche, in the hallway. The main advantage of this building is the minimum cost, since the walls and bottom with a lid are already there and do not need to be built. With the help of a compartment, empty space that has not been used until now is filled.

A great way to install a closet in a hallway is to place it across the entire width of a blank wall. This is the optimal solution, since a cabinet built into the wall in this way will increase the visual volume of the hallway if its doors are decorated. If the house is small in size, then this place can be used as a dressing room, without reducing the size of the living space.

Sliding wardrobes are often used in zoning one-room apartments. Similar buildings are common in penthouses, since there is no interior doors. This option is the most expensive of the others.

The most common type of cabinet is a separate structure, which can be made into a corner or placed closer to the wall. Such cabinets are created with doors that open on both sides so that access to the contents is as accessible as possible. On the Internet you can find many photos of cabinets and their location in the interior.

Materials

To make a cabinet, you must first choose suitable material, on which the progress of construction as a whole depends. To choose the right material, you need to consider its characteristics. Materials used in the assembly of the sliding wardrobe:

  • Wood is a traditional material from which furniture is made. It is great for regular cabinets, but it is not profitable to use for a compartment. This material will warp because the cabinet built into the wall absorbs more moisture than that in the room;
  • Drywall is a good finishing material that has many possibilities. Since he is finishing material, it cannot be used in the manufacture of a sliding wardrobe. This is impossible due to the fact that drywall is a structure that must be firmly attached to something, and cannot be part of a load-bearing structure;
  • Fiberboard, chipboard - this is what you need to make a cabinet. The process of making it from these materials is extremely inexpensive and simple, and does not require large expenses. These materials have the characteristics of wood, but unlike it, they are resistant to moisture penetration. Experts recommend using chipboard, medium- and high-density fiberboard.

Many companies publish catalogs with photos of all materials. Having made your choice, you can proceed directly to designing the cabinet.

Cabinet design

When drawing up a project, the division of the cabinet into zones is carried out using partitions, which are measured by the width of the doors. It is generally accepted that the main place for filling a compartment is the wardrobe area, which includes rods with hangers and shelves for clothes and shoes. The rest of the space belongs to the utility block.

Design can be done using photo samples, or you can prepare it yourself.

Approximate layout of a wardrobe

To make a cabinet, you need a number of parts:

  • one wall for the side (since the wall and floor will replace the rest);
  • internal partitions, the number of which is adjusted to the number of doors;
  • in order for the cabinet to look complete, it is necessary to make narrow strips of wood, which will give a noble look to the structure;
  • other details should arrange the shelves. The mezzanine is made for those things that are not often used. The remaining space is filled with shelves at the owner’s discretion;
  • if the tenant wants to install a suspended ceiling in the hallway after assembling the cabinet, then it is necessary to develop a plan so that it does not interfere with this. A homemade U-shaped box will help prevent such situations from occurring. It will serve as the basis for the upper door rails. The box will need to be screwed to the ceiling;
  • During the design and drawing, you will need to measure the size of all cabinet parts to order, determining in advance where the edges will be applied to them. Places that are visible are covered PVC edge layer 2 mm, and others 0.4 mm thick. Parts that will come into contact with others do not need to be covered with PVC edges;
  • The most annoying problem that can arise is indirect walls. In this situation, you should not make hasty decisions and file cutting laminated chipboard jigsaw, as chips may form on the surface. At home, it is almost impossible to do this without damage, because this requires a circular saw;
  • If after sawing the sheet the cut area opens, then it should be closed. You can glue an overlay U-profile, as well as a melanin edge;
  • the part located on the inside can simply be painted on the walls.

You can find many photos with examples of arranging a wardrobe.

For sliding systems, it is necessary to retreat 9-10 cm from the inside of the door so as not to damage the structure of the cabinet. The exception is the Versailles system, which allows for its installation close to the top rail. But in order to protect the cabinet from undesirable consequences, it is advisable to retreat 1 cm.

Cabinet assembly

You should begin assembling the cabinet by installing load-bearing walls around the perimeter, edging the opening with strips of laminated chipboards. Then you should attach the frame to the ceiling, floor and walls using dowels. The angle helps connect the parts to each other.

The optimal method for fastening parts is the use of Euroscrews, which are used in furniture assembly. But before using them, you first need to make a hole for them, which is impossible to make smoothly without any special instruments. For this purpose, there is a specially created drill for confirmation, which can be adjusted to the drilling depth.

If you are fastening to furniture bolts, then for added rigidity and greater retention it is recommended to use furniture dowels. They are screwed in with a hexagon.

Fastening the shelves

Fastening can be done in several ways. Using corners to attach shelves is quite common and not aesthetically pleasing, so it is used in exceptional cases when other methods are completely unsuitable.

By means of confirmations, the shelves are securely attached to the cabinet walls, which guarantees the transfer of various heavy loads. But Euroscrews are used exclusively in places where no one will see them, since their appearance is spoiled due to the caps.

The eccentric allows the shelves to be securely attached to the wall. But in order to attach them, you will have to work hard. In addition, the screw cap becomes noticeable from below. In the photo you can clearly see what these or other mounting options look like.

The most suitable option For fastening shelves there are shelf holders, which are accessories that provide stability to the part. When using this type of fastening, they are completely invisible on both sides.

Door assembly

The main procedure when assembling sliding wardrobes is sliding doors. When performing installation, it is not advisable to skimp on auxiliary material, since if it is of poor quality or there is not enough of it, then problems with doors sticking and falling out cannot be avoided. Laguna, Versailles and Aristo have established themselves as the most reliable and high-quality companies manufacturing sliding systems. Their cost is very reasonable.

A sliding wardrobe is often equipped with two, less often three doors, consisting of a canvas framed with aluminum profiles from all sides into the frame. For a tight connection in any position, a special profile is used, which allows the frame not to be uniform (an example can be seen in the photo). According to standard measurements, thickness laminated chipboard sheet equal to 10 mm.

Using a silicone seal, a mirror or designer glass 4 mm thick can be inserted into such a profile. It is important to know that when using glass or mirrors for a door, you must purchase them with a special protective film, which, due to its elastic properties, does not allow fragments to fly apart during a strong impact. You can assemble the doors yourself or order them ready-made.

Installing doors into a structure

It is necessary to hammer the horizontal profiles using a hammer made of rubber. Then you should fill the vertical handles, fastened with self-tapping screws, the dimensions of which are 5 * 30 or 6 * 35 mm. The top and bottom rollers must be installed before the final tie is made. To ensure that the fasteners are not noticeable, the holes for the screws should be made in two different diameters. The first is 9 mm (inside the profile), the second is 5 mm (under the screw leg).

Profiles located vertically and horizontally have differences. The ones that are vertical should have 3 holes, which need to be drilled one at a time in the top and bottom of the assembly, as well as in the place where the lower rollers are attached. Then the profiles need to be cut to the required dimensions and screwed using self-tapping screws. A door stopper is installed in the bottom rail.

Door suspension with bottom support rail

Before installing the door, it must be inserted into the far channel of the upper door guide, and then inserted into the lower channel. The second doors need to be installed in the same way. To ensure that there are no gaps between the doors, you need to stick a buffer tape.

Making a wardrobe in the hallway with your own hands is not difficult. All you need is desire, perseverance and ready-made materials. After completing the assembly, you can take a photo and show this creation to your friends.
