Drawings of cabinets with dimensions. DIY bedside table for the bedroom

Everyone needs a bedside table, I can’t imagine living without it. Nowadays huge selection cabinet, but what if you didn’t like everything you saw in the store, but you want exactly what you can’t buy on the market.
This is a great reason to make a cabinet with your own hands. There are cabinets different sizes in width, height and depth, color and material.
The usual width of a bedside table is 500 mm, the recommended depth of the bedside table is 300-350 mm, and the height of the bedside table should be adjusted to the height of your bed.
How to make a bedside table with your own hands? It's very simple!

The material from which bedside tables are made varies, but most often it is wood or chipboard (chipboard). In our example, we will consider the assembly of a bedside table from 16 mm laminated chipboard.
We have a cabinet with drawers, this is a little more complicated to make than the simple version with one door and a shelf in the middle.
Any project begins with calculations on a sheet of paper and a drawing of the future product.

And so, after all the blanks have been made, we need melamine or PVC edging the ends of our parts, which will be visible when looking at the assembled product.
Why is it not necessary to edge the entire perimeter of the part? This is a waste of material and your time, for example, only one edge should be edged on a shelf. face, since the sides and back are covered by the walls of the cabinet body.

The most important thing when assembling the bedside table is not to leave protruding bolts; you should make recesses with a drill with a diameter of 9 mm so that the head of the wood screw is slightly recessed inward and can be sealed with a PVC plug.

If you look closely, there is a 16 mm gap left on each side for the side posts of the cabinet.

The stands of the bedside table themselves, they are attached to the decorative frame and the base of the bedside table, we close all the places for the screws with special plugs.

A finished cabinet, but without a drawer.

Installing drawer guides

If you already have a bedside table, but you need to update the nightstand yourself?
Step one: I recommend that you carefully disassemble it.
Step two: iron over the melamine edge for further removal.
important: As a rule, the edges and ends of cabinets wear out, budget method updating a bedside table means removing the old edge and gluing on a new one, maybe even in a different color. It will look very interesting.
Step three: Removal of the edge occurs by smoothing it along the edges with a hot iron, the glue takes on a liquid form and dismantling can be easily done without damaging the workpiece.
Step four: clear out chipboard ends from glue.

Self-assembled furniture will be an excellent decoration for any interior, besides, it will help save money and emphasize the taste of its owner. A DIY bedside table is easy to make, drawings for any chosen model and assembly diagram are available for public access, and materials can be purchased at any hardware store. However, when starting to make furniture, namely a bedside table with your own hands, you need to become familiar with some of the features of the process and technology.

Having decided to do bedside table with your own hands, you need to decide on its future dimensions. To determine the parameters of a future piece of furniture, it is important to understand in advance what space in the room will be allocated for this element. Standard sizes it is considered to determine the height by the level of the bed, standard width is 50 cm, and the depth varies from 30 to 35 cm. A bedside table of this size can most often be found in a furniture store.

If space in the room allows, you can make furniture of any size yourself. Height can be more or less standard bed. The dimensions of the bedside tables will depend only on the chosen design, as well as the materials from which it will be made.

Features of design and selection of materials

Having decided on the size of the future bedside table, you can begin the planning stage. To do this, you need to determine in what style the furniture will be made and have a rough idea of its appearance. You can already choose finished project, presented on the Internet, or you can develop your own.

To do this, just draw a future table or cabinet with your own hands on a piece of paper. Then draw each detail separately and write down their dimensions. A computer can greatly simplify the design process. There are a lot of programs on the Internet that are used to create projects and drawings, many of them are used by furniture designers. For starters, the basic version of the simplest program is quite suitable. It will help you understand exactly how the furniture design process works, in particular how to make bedroom furniture.

The accuracy of the drawings is important not only for planning, but also for the precise fitting of parts during the manufacture of blanks for the future bedside table.

A bedside table for a bedroom is usually made of laminated chipboard. They are quite inexpensive and can be easily purchased at any hardware supermarket. There you can pick up fittings and all the necessary parts. In order to produce parts of the required size, you can contact any local company that does cutting. These services cost very little, and the risk of spoiling the material due to lack of experience is completely eliminated. Moreover, even experienced master is not immune to chipping at the edges of the material if you work with ordinary household tools.

However, if you already have certain skills in working with wood, then you can quickly learn how to cut blanks from laminated chipboard using a conventional circular saw. There are special techniques and tricks that are designed to avoid spoiling the material.

In order for the shelf to look good and be protected from mechanical damage, it is necessary to edge the ends of the blanks. To save material and time, it is enough to edge only those parts that will be visible using melamine or a special PVC edge. No need to hem internal surfaces, which will be covered by the walls and body of the future bedside table.

After this, you can begin assembling the product, strictly adhering to the instructions and plan. It is very important to strictly follow the assembly sequence and take into account the dimensions of the parts and the drill so as not to damage the workpiece.

The standard material used by manufacturers is chipboard. Having developed your project, you can use almost any material, including wood. It is enough to process solid wood to make it look expensive and elegant. In addition, wood products will last much longer, fit into any interior and are environmentally friendly. This option is a little more expensive and requires more skill from the assembler, but the result will exceed all expectations.

Non-standard projects and materials

Many creative models nightstands, which can easily be made yourself, were invented to save money on buying furniture. However, some of them look stylish and original enough to take a place in the room. The designs will help breathe a second life into old things and will organically fit into the bedroom interior.

Making furniture from pallets is becoming increasingly popular. You can buy them at a construction supermarket and paint them in any color. From pallets you can make both a bed and other pieces of furniture. If we talk about a bedside table, then it will be enough to simply combine two pallets to make the shelf the desired height. You can use old boxes using the same principle. They can be equipped with special rollers so that each of them can be pulled out.

A wonderful DIY bedside table can be made from an old suitcase if you attach legs to it. You can also inhale new life into old chests that are easy enough to paint. A stack of old books tied with a leather strap or held together with self-tapping screws would also be a great addition to any bedroom.

One more interesting idea will become a bedside table with tension rope shelves. To make it, you will need to assemble a box of the required size, drill rows of holes at the level of the shelves and thread a strong rope through them.

The ideas for bedside tables don’t end there; it’s enough to use your imagination and a little effort to get a unique, stylish and functional piece of furniture.

A DIY bedside table is one of the most simple products which is accessible to everyone. To create it you do not need large quantity materials, tools or special experience in creating furniture. You just need to have a drawing, a rough diagram of the product and preferably ideas on how to make it unique.

Nightstands are usually installed in a room or hallway. Depending on the purpose of the furniture, different drawings are used and internal shelves are made of different heights.

For example, to store shoes, you need 1-2 shelves, and in the cabinets for the room you can make more levels, since books, magazines, CDs, cosmetics, and other small things will be stored there.

There are different designs bedside tables for a room or hallway, they can be divided into several types:

  • open;
  • with doors;
  • with drawers;
  • combined.

The product can be made of chipboard or wood. Boards are more reliable, durable option, it is worth using if you want your own bedside table to be durable and last for many years. But these materials will cost a little more than chipboard.

Necessary materials and instructions for creation

Before you make a bedside table with your own hands, you need to prepare the following tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • mallet, hammer;
  • jigsaw or saw;
  • Angle grinder or sandpaper (if the bedside table is made of wood);
  • furniture conductor.

Hallway bedside table

The following type of bedside table is suitable for the hallway:

This is one of the most simple options. The drawing represents a generally accepted standard. If a narrower or taller cabinet is needed, the dimensions can be changed.

This product will fit well into the hallway due to its compactness and convenience. You can store shoes in the lower compartment, and in the drawer you can store things you need to have on hand when leaving the house (keys, dog leash, etc.).

Materials:

  • boards or chipboard;
  • plywood for the box, plywood or fiberboard sheet for the back wall;
  • hardware;
  • dowels;
  • pens;
  • loops;
  • furniture glue or PVA;
  • tassels;
  • paint and/or varnish.

Operating procedure:

  1. Preparation of parts
    • For side walls it is better to use boards 500 mm wide. If there are none, you can make parts from narrower boards. It is necessary to cut 4 blanks 800 mm long and 250 mm wide. They can be glued together using wood glue. To do this, the workpieces are smeared with the composition and clamped in a vice or clamp for several hours. A simpler option is to connect them with transverse jumpers.
    • Holes and markings are made on the walls. If there is a shelf in the lower compartment of the bedside table, then to install it you can drive 4 dowels - 2 on each side. It is also necessary to make holes for dowels at the bottom, top and top end. You can immediately attach the hinges on which the doors and drawer guides will be installed.
    • Make countertops, bottom shelf (“floor” of the cabinet) and doors.
    • Make a box from plywood.
    • If the bedside table in the hallway is made of boards, you need to open them with varnish.
  2. Collect all the parts. Fastenings are made through dowels: a little glue is put into the hole and the dowel is driven into it. After this, the parts are fastened together with light blows of a mallet. To prevent scratches on a wooden cabinet, it is better to hit it through a board or a thick piece of rubber. You can also assemble the cabinet using hardware.
  3. Making the back wall. A sheet of plywood or fiberboard, the dimensions of which correspond to the width and height of the cabinet, is nailed at the back.

It is worth remembering that dimensions, diagrams and drawings in in this case- just a convention. The main thing is to understand the general principles of the structure of this furniture and the work involved in its creation.

If you have ideas on how to improve a product or make it more original, it’s worth bringing them to life. If ideas don’t come, then you can safely use the standards.

Cabinet in the corner

If you need ideas on how to save space, you should pay attention to the corner bedside table. This product will allow you to store things, but will not take up much space. A do-it-yourself corner cabinet for a room or hallway is made in the same way as a regular one: the list of materials and work are completely identical. The only difference is that different drawings are used.

A wide bedside table with your own hands is very convenient for the room - corner model usually made to mount a TV, game console, speakers, etc. The lower compartments can store CDs and other accessories. The narrow cabinet will fit well into small hallway. Here are the drawings and ideas for various pedestals to the room or hallway:

Even small elements and, at first glance, insignificant ideas for a bedside table with your own hands will help you make an original, exclusive furniture for a room or hallway. The main thing is not to be afraid to imagine and try new things.

A bedside table is a diverse concept. This can be a bedside container for newspapers and a tea mug, or a stand for a huge TV with built-in speakers and an electronic rotating system to attract the viewer's attention. Such a simple concept - and an endless number of execution options. Making a bedside table with your own hands is quite simple, but it is important to decide necessary design. My friend needed a kitchen cabinet with one top drawer. If you please.

Appearance of the manufactured bedside table

To make a bedside table you need

Here I give a list of tools that it would be better for everyone to keep in constant readiness, along with a fishing rod, favorite gun and chess:

  • Drill-driver. A battery-powered one would be optimal if the household also has a hammer drill.
  • Drill set. In this case - on wood.
  • Set of bits. If you want to assemble the furniture yourself, the kit should include a bit, which is a hexagon for confirmations.
  • Hinge cutter 35 mm in diameter.
  • Iron.
  • Roulette.
  • Pencil.
  • A carpenter's tool called a right angle, with measuring stick.
  • Sandpaper, dry rag.

I’ll immediately note about the iron and other items that were not clear at first. Since you will be forced to order cutting on the side ( laminated chipboard sheet size 1830x2440 mm - this is the smallest), it makes sense to save on gluing the edges. Now on sale is a 0.5 mm thick melamine edge in the color of the material, which is easy to glue on yourself. Since it has an adhesive base, just attach it to the desired end with the beautiful side up and iron it with a heated iron. Using a dry cloth, press the still hot edge to achieve good adhesion. Excess edges are removed with a dull knife and the edges are processed with sandpaper.

Detailing the bedside table

A cabinet made by yourself may differ in content, functionality and appearance. This largely depends on the amount you are willing to spend on fittings. Here I am writing details of the simplest and cheapest cabinet. Drawer without runners, facades - laminated chipboard.

  • 772x500 – 2 pcs., sides of the cabinet.
  • 368x500 – 2 pcs., bottom and shelf.
  • 368x100 – 3 pcs., base and two upper strips.
  • 480x110 – 2 pcs., drawer sides.
  • 334x110 – 2 pcs., box front and back walls.
  • 150x395 – drawer front.
  • 515x395 – cabinet door.

All dimensions are for chipboard with a thickness of 16 mm.

We take a special kitchen tabletop, 28 mm thick. Its size is 525x400 mm.

Fiberboard for the back wall of the cabinet and the bottom of the drawer:

  • 670x395 mm – rear wall.
  • 475x365 mm – bottom of the box.

I have already written how to glue the edge, now it’s time to prepare the parts for assembly. The main fasteners for us are confirmations, for which we need to drill holes. We drill into the plane with a diameter of 8 mm, into the end of the parts - with a diameter of 5 mm. The figure shows which parts are drilled into the end, and which into the plane - simply based on general design cabinets.

List of required accessories

DIY bedside table is also ours business card in front of everyone who doubted our abilities, so even in an inexpensive version, fasteners must be taken as seriously as possible. We buy in the store furniture fittings:

  • Confirmats 5x70 – 22 pieces. It is enough to screw the tie strips and the plinth one confirmat on each side.
  • Self-tapping screws 4x30 – packaging. They are useful for other jobs around the house, but specifically here they are needed in order to screw the tabletop to the top strips, and the front of the drawer to the front wall of the drawer box. All this is screwed up from the inside.
  • Self-tapping screws 4x16 – packaging. This is a fastener for hinges and hardboard (fibreboard). You should buy it with a hidden cap, and also deepen it into the bottom of the drawer so as not to scratch the shelf.
  • Furniture hinges – 2 pcs. Since our cutter is 35 mm in diameter, we buy the corresponding hinges.
  • Furniture handles – 2 pcs. For the front of the drawer, it is better to buy additional screws for handles, 35 mm long.

Making a bedside table

It is better to coordinate the production of bedside tables of this model with friends or acquaintances - simply because two and a half pieces can be made from a sheet of chipboard. Assembly is so simple that you can start selling “extra” cabinets. For complete satisfaction of potential customers and your own, screw onto the sides from below furniture legs, the so-called “hooves”. They will help you place the cabinet on uneven floor. Adjustable legs of this type can also be found in specialized stores that sell furniture fittings.

Ready bedside table

How to make a nightstand with your own hands general outline We already understand - it remains to take into account two very important technical points.

  • Sampling for loops. One constant should be remembered: The distance from the edge of the facade to the center of the hinge hole is always 22 mm. Naturally, for hinges with a seat size of 35 mm. Above and below the door it is usually marked at 60-80 mm - this is not critical, if not design features. Then you can simply attach the facade with screwed hinges to the sidewall at the desired height and secure it to the body.
  • Right angles. When assembling a drawer or cabinet box, always check the geometric correctness of the resulting parallelepiped. Otherwise, the product will turn out to be lopsided and with poorly opening facades.

That's all, good luck with your work.

A do-it-yourself bedside table is quite often made, but this concept is very diverse. This piece of furniture can be a product that will stand by the bed, another possible option- This is a place for a tea mug and newspapers in the living room. However, to make this design It's quite easy to do on your own. To do this, you should first prepare certain tools and materials, as well as become familiar with the process technology. This is the only way you can successfully complete the work, and the product will please the eyes of your household and be easy to use. The only thing that you may not have to do yourself is cutting the material.

Preparatory work

If you are making a bedside table with your own hands, then you need to prepare the following tools: drill-driver, set of bits, milling cutter, tape measure, iron, pencil, sandpaper, carpenter's tool, drill set. The optimal solution would be to use cordless screwdriver, which is true if the farm also has a hammer drill. Drills should be selected according to wood, but as for the set of bits, it should have a hexagon for confirmation. Be sure to prepare a right angle with a measuring ruler. There should also be a dry cloth at hand. Due to the fact that chipboard cutting will be carried out in a workshop, you should expect that you will have to transport sheets measuring 1830x2448 mm on your own or with outside help. These dimensions are the smallest. This is why experts recommend saving on gluing edges.

Today a melamine version is sold, the thickness of which is 0.5 mm. Due to the fact that this element has an adhesive base, it will be quite easy to install. To do this, attach it to the required end and iron it with a heated iron. A dry rag will help firm up the hot edge more firmly for maximum grip. The excess should be removed using a dull knife and the edges treated with sandpaper.

Detailing

When making a bedside table with your own hands, it is important to familiarize yourself with the details. However internal filling may vary. Everything will depend on what you want appearance and functionality, as well as the budget you plan to spend on fittings. Below we will describe the details of the simplest and cheapest piece of furniture, but the runners and facades will be made of laminated chipboard. As for the side parts, you will need two of them. In the first case, the size of the element will be 772x500 mm, while the bottom and shelf should have dimensions equal to 368x502 m. There should be two upper strips, but only one base, the dimensions of these components are equal to 368x100 mm. It is important not to forget about the side parts of the drawer; there should be two of these elements, and their dimensions are 480x110. It will not be possible to create a structure without back and front walls; there must also be two of them, and the dimensions are 334x110 mm. The front is limited to 150x395 mm, and the cabinet door has dimensions equal to 515x395 mm. The above dimensions are for chipboard with a thickness of 16 mm. The worktop should be kitchen and its thickness is 28 mm, while the length and width are 525x400 mm. When making a bedside table with your own hands, it is important to know not only how to glue the edge, but also how to prepare the parts for assembly.

Preparing consumables

The fastener can be confirmed, for which you will need to drill holes. Their diameter should be 8 mm, whereas when the holes are located at the end, the diameter should be reduced to 5 mm.

Preparation of accessories

Even if you are planning to purchase inexpensive option fasteners, then this should be taken seriously. Confirmats must be purchased in the amount of 22 pieces, their dimensions are 5x70 mm. The plinth and tie strips will be installed on one confirmat, each of which should be located on one side. Self-tapping screws must be purchased in one package, dimensions - 4x30 mm. They will be needed later for other work around the house, but in the case of a cabinet they are used to screw the tabletop to the slats. As for the facade, in this case the self-tapping screw is installed to the front wall of the box. In this case, the fastener should be located inside so that it is not visible. You will also need self-tapping screws with dimensions of 4x16 mm; they must also be purchased in the amount of 1 package. With their help you will strengthen the hardboard and hinges; it is important to purchase fasteners with a countersunk head. Find the right ones furniture hinges in the amount of 2 pieces. The cutter has a diameter of 35 mm; the hinges, accordingly, must be suitable. If desired, you should purchase decorative furniture handles that are installed on the facade. Additionally, you can get screws for handles, the length of which is 35 mm.

The process of making a cabinet

When creating a bedside table with your own hands, the photo of which is presented in the article, you can use one chipboard sheet, it will make 2.5 products. Assembly is very simple, in addition to the sidewalls from below you can screw them, which are simply called “hooves”. They help to install the cabinet on an uneven floor. If it is made by you, you can purchase adjustable legs, which can be found in a furniture fittings store. First, the master makes a selection for the loops. It should be remembered that the step from the edge of the facade to the central part of the hole should be 22 mm. For loops, landing dimensions which are 35 mm, markings should be made on the top and bottom of the door. This is usually done at the level of 80 mm, but this parameter cannot be called critical. The next step is to install the facade with twisted hinges, then everything is strengthened to the body. When making a TV stand with your own hands, you can use the same dimensions, since they fit perfectly, but it is important to remember that when assembling the box and drawer, you need to check the geometry of the resulting parallelepiped. Otherwise, the product will turn out crooked, and the facades will be impossible to open or close.

Making a bedside table or shoe cabinet

In order to make the structure for a bed or for shoes more stable, you can make it in the shape of a trapezoid, and the product is assembled using dowels. One of the side ends of the bottom must be sawed down, this applies to lids and sticks. In this case, you need to use an angle of 10°. Perfect for this electric saw and guides. At the next stage, you need to select grooves for the keys on the cut ends, while placing a flat board under the cutter. The latter, including the workpiece and the workbench, should be compressed with a clamp. Before you begin assembling the cabinet, all fittings should be temporarily secured, this will allow you to determine its exact location.

Sequence of work

When making a bedside table, you first need to attach the top cover to the left side wall using dowels. At the next stage, the right side panel is strengthened, and the structure should be in a lying position. Once the glue has set, you can attach the back wall to the body. The surface must be sanded and the edges are varnished before painting. After the cabinet is turned upside down, you can screw rollers to the corners; each of them should be secured with two washers and nuts. When making it yourself, you can be guided by the same technology, while on the door you will have to mark places for 50 mm should be measured from the lower and upper ends. As for the side edge, it is necessary to retreat 22 mm from it. To install the hinges, you need to drill holes at the intersections of the lines. The master steps back approximately 3 mm from the top cover, this will allow for easy closing and opening of the door in the future.

Final works

If you are thinking about how to make a bedside table with your own hands, then at the next stage you need to assemble grooves in the lower part of the three sides. The ends of the rear and front walls are cut at an angle of 10°. It is important to remember that the sides of the box must be butt-joined to each other. Mechanisms for rolling out should be installed at the same stage; it is best to use roller guides, as they are easy to install and durable in operation.
