Projects of houses made of glass and concrete. Projects of houses with glass walls

Half-timbered glass house like a castle in the air
Low-rise housing construction, or rather country house cannot be made of glass - such a thinking pattern is firmly ingrained in our heads. We are familiar with concrete and brick, or, at best, log houses. Living in nature, hiding from it in stone palaces - what’s the point? Bears have not roamed the forest for a long time, and enemy troops are not visible from the narrow and small windows - cracks. Maybe the time has come for a different architecture - more airy, transparent, environmentally friendly, but no less durable? - Namely, the time of modern fachwerk!

Half-timbered buildings offer us the traditions of European house building from the 15th to 17th centuries. The term is unusual for the Russian ear and language; it means “section-structure”.
High-strength structures made from laminated structural timber allow you to create an image according to your order; the timber is both a building material and an element of external and internal decor.
This design requires airiness and light - latest technologies allow you to fill the inter-frame space... with glass and you get a house made of glass. This unexpected, but very durable combination of wood and glass will become the basis of your castle in the air.

Why a castle? Yes, because it can be not only a one-story house with an attic and an original pitched roof, but also a house with “reverse geometry”, when the second floor is wider than the first, and the third is wider than the second. An air castle, thanks to glazed balconies and terraces, will allow you to be above the bustle of earth, to rise to the pine trees, to the birds, feed squirrels directly from the hands and look at the world from above.

A similar miracle, at the intersection of architectures, is available today in Russia. The lace of the load-bearing structures will make your glass house durable and elegant, and the glass will be spacious, bright, and sunny. It turns out that building your own castle in the air is quite possible, but first you need to turn to professionals for help. And if you haven’t decided yet, pay attention to the roof beams of the Moscow Manege. Impressive?

Today we will visit thirty amazing houses. Maybe some of you would like to remodel your home by adding more light to it through huge windows.

The idea of glazing one of the walls of the living room, combining the veranda with the room, has many advantages: the space of the room visually increases, it seems that there is more air, in winter you can enjoy the abundance natural light, and in the summer - remove the glass and turn the room into a covered terrace and best place for relaxation on fresh air.

Architectural projects | №1 (184) "2018

Authors of the project: architects Roman Leonidov , Zoya Samorodova (Architectural Bureau of Roman Leonidov, Moscow)

The house, erected in the Moscow region, is an example of complete harmony of the architectural design of a residential building and the landscape. A stylish modern building made of glass and concrete with natural wood and stone trim fits perfectly into the area with a pine forest. The color scheme of the façade and interior design of the cottage is consonant with the natural color palette of the Central Russian region.

The authors of the project were faced with the task of preserving the existing old trees on the site as much as possible. This wish of the customers determined the volumetric-spatial composition of the house. The architectural ensemble consists of two blocks, rotated relative to each other at a certain angle and connected by a covered glazed gallery. Thanks to this configuration of buildings in front of the entrance, enough free space for the patio. WITH opposite side the trees approach the walls almost closely, surround the cottage, as if protecting it, and at the same time create a magnificent backdrop for everyday life.

The theme of harmony with the landscape is present in all aspects of the project. A wide covered terrace and balconies form an additional usable area for outdoor recreation. Panoramic glazing facades visually erases the boundary between interiors and nature. IN exterior decoration buildings are used only natural materials. Light plaster with a rough texture, wooden roof lining, larch slats on the facades and rough stone cladding create contrasting combinations, making the image of the house interesting and expressive.

The internal layout was determined by the two-part structure of the building. The main block contains a large double-height living room combined with a dining room and a kitchen equipped in a niche, a bathroom and utility rooms.

In the second block with integrated covered parking for two cars on the ground floor there is a bedroom, an office and a bathroom, and on the second there are three living rooms with dressing rooms and bathrooms. The upper covered gallery leads to the library, located on the mezzanine level above the living room.

In interiors, the tone and mood are determined by the same natural materials as in the decoration of facades. One flooring from solid board in the living-dining room emphasizes the scale of the house. Wooden beams The supporting structure, left open, sets the rhythm of the space. A special color is created by a stone with a rough texture in the lining of a wood-burning fireplace, located next to one of the outer walls.

Panoramic glazing makes the living space light, filled with air and light. IN good weather Part sliding windows-doors open, combining the living-dining room and terrace. The large living room is structured by the arrangement of furniture - two sofa groups (in the center of the room and by the fireplace) and a dining set for eight people. The kitchen is laconic and minimalistic. The strict facades of her cabinets are made of natural wood close the perspective of the dining room.

Have you ever seen glass house? If yes, you are unlikely to forget it impressive sight, if not, then it would be nice to take a look at one of these buildings in order to gain some positive emotions. Glass houses, photo which are presented on the Internet, truly amaze with the magnificence of their facades, the variety of shapes and architectural solutions and their unusualness.

It may seem to some that glass country house not very convenient for living due to its transparency and apparent fragility of glass, however, those who have had the chance to live in such an architectural miracle have a completely different opinion and dream of building the same house for themselves. And how light it is in it!

Design Features

Projects glass houses rarely involve making all its elements from glass, but individual parts - very often. Glass walls not only look unusual, but also provide maximum penetration of light from the street. The same is difficult to say about traditional windows. Living in such a house, you will be able to admire the surrounding nature and even the clouds if you order a glass roof. The rooms themselves will seem visually more spacious.

In addition to glass, the process involves a material such as laminated veneer lumber. It is used to construct a load-bearing power frame, which provides almost unlimited possibilities for planning not only individually, but also standard project. Depending on the wishes of the customer, partitions inside the house can be either solid or glass. Mineral wool is used as insulation in glass houses.

In order to ensure high strength and thermal insulation of the walls, triple glazing with chambers filled with argon is used. This approach provides thermal conductivity indicators similar to those of brick walls more than 80 cm thick.

Advantages of glass houses

The first thing that all residents of houses built from glass note is their incredible elegance and amazing impressions from the combination of glass and wood. Such houses are truly masterpieces and are not like others.

Another advantage of glass houses is their maximum energy efficiency and the use of all energy sources, including solar passive energy. That is why, when designing, the largest translucent structures are placed in the south and west, where they can fully capture sunlight. At the same time, the size of the structures on the north side is somewhat smaller! This approach can significantly reduce heating costs.

Half-timbered technology, used in the design and construction of glass houses, eliminates restrictions when planning living space and the location of premises. Being a load-bearing structure, it makes it easy and simple to carry out redevelopment and improve the house in the future if the need arises.

Strength, reliability, durability, attractiveness, originality, perfection of form, maximum convenience and comfort - all these designations apply to glass houses!

Of course, a material such as glass, although not entirely safe due to the fact that it can not only break, but also seriously injure a person, is extremely popular. They make it out of it beautiful furniture(remember darling coffee table in the living room), stylish interior doors and even build entire houses from glass. Of course, this is not the only material used in construction, but glass walls and roofs can be used in such transparent houses large area. Glass houses can often be found in America, which most likely indicates a more liberated American mentality. If you have nothing to hide and you do not suffer from modesty, then you can throw aside wooden boards and bricks and start building a magical glass house.

The advantage of this material
lies in the fact that essentially the same material can be completely
different: matte, mirror, tinted, transparent, etc. You can achieve
the desired effect by simply combining a couple of these options. Also like this
material like glass can give designers
the opportunity to bring to life the most creative and daring fantasies and
the result is not just a banal house, but a real work of architecture
art. Of course, in the construction of glass houses various
technologies that allow you to achieve maximum good result– This is cutting glass with water or beveling.

Many people, especially those who
If you have small, restless children, you should never decide to start construction
glass house because the fragility of glass can lead to irreparable
consequences. But in fact, there is nothing to be afraid of: modern technology
allow you to make it as durable and strong as possible. Glass walls can
will withstand heavy loads and
at the same time they will remain safe and sound.

Worth paying attention
classifications of glasses that are used as building materials. This
information will greatly facilitate the process
choice and will make it much more enjoyable. There are types of glass: lime, lead,
sodium silicate, quartz, borosilicate and others. The first type of glass is
limestone ones are good because they melt easily, and their cost is very low.
Most mirrors and sheet glass are made from it. Lead glass
it is more expensive than the previous one, but at the same time, it has good dielectric properties. Sodium silicate
the glass is not very good property- Maybe
dissolve in water. The advantage of quartz glass is that it
has a low coefficient of thermal expansion and also has a high
electrical resistance. But the disadvantages include high cost and
the severity of processing. Borosilicate glasses are remarkable because they have
resistance to various chemicals, as well as thermal shocks.

Regarding glass design
at home, all the reigns here must be given into the hands of the designer. Build a similar object for you yourself
it will be very difficult. You don't want to just get a small glass
a hut with four walls and a poor roof. This requires the hands of a professional,
who will tell you what materials to use
It is best to combine glass, where there should be more of it, and where there should be less.

By the way, it’s worth paying attention
also the fact that a glass house, for example, does not necessarily have to be completely
consist of this material. It may have either a glass roof or
for example, just one wall. Moreover, even the interior can be glass. What
Regarding furniture, there are some restrictions, for example, it may be
tables or small shelves. In addition, doors can be made of glass.
They will look very stylish, bright, colorful and will add their own personality to the interior.
zest.

It’s worth saying a word about glass roofs. Their main advantage
- This is certainly a pleasant aesthetic appearance. They will be able to provide maximum
illumination, which will have a good effect on the mood of the inhabitants of the house. By the way, they
transmit not only light, but even heat, accordingly, it is possible to significantly
save on heating the room. But at the same time, such roofs allow
harmful ultraviolet rays, which, of course, is a huge minus.

Whatever it is, one thing is clear: for
glass houses are the future. And if previously it was the prerogative of only the rich and
bourgeoisie, then today there are more and more more people are thinking about
build a glass house.
