Start collecting bottles. You can’t even imagine what flights of fancy you can allow yourself when creating plastic products! This article will focus exclusively on furniture. Get ready, an amazing master class awaits you.

We will provide you with several interesting ideas. You can clearly see how to make furniture from plastic bottles in the photos that will accompany our story.

Furniture made from plastic bottles: armchair

The first idea is a chair.

Using this chair as an example, we will show the basic principle of fastening bottles. Study it carefully, we will need it when creating other things.

It is clear that to create furniture, you will need a considerable number of bottles. However, this depends on the size of the furniture. The photo shows the assembly diagram. It is universal. To make it clearer, we will describe the entire process that is depicted.

Take the bottle and cut it in half. Turn the top over and insert it into the bottom. Then insert the whole bottle there and cover the top only bottom from another one. It turns out something like a “log”. It's quite strong. When a sufficient number of “logs” are collected, they can turn into not only a chair, but also an entire sofa. But more on that later.

We fasten our “logs” (it would be more correct to call them modules) in the amount of four pieces. To secure them together, we simply wrap them with transparent tape. From four such parts we assemble a larger module and also fasten it with tape.

The back and sides of the chair are made by extending the same modules to the required length and fastening them with tape (see photo).

By the way, scotch tape can be replaced with special cling film. It is not difficult to find in any hardware department. The film connects the parts more firmly than tape.

That's all, strictly speaking. The chair is ready. You just need to sew a cover for it from a suitable fabric. The appearance of the chair depends on the cover, so when choosing fabric, take this into account. For convenience, place under the seat soft material such as foam rubber or padding polyester.

Sofa

Using the same principle as we made a chair, you can make a sofa. Of course, you will need much more bottles here than for a chair. But they will need to be assembled according to exactly the same pattern. Having folded the “logs” - modules of four pieces each, we also carefully wrap them with tape. Don’t skimp on adhesive tape, because we need a reliable and durable structure that can serve us for many years, so it’s better not to skimp on it. Just as in the previous description, modules consisting of four bottles are assembled into larger modules.

They continue to increase the modules to the sizes required for the sofa. It is preferable to cover the sofa with foam rubber or padding polyester, because this upholstered furniture. And sew him a suitable cover from a beautiful fabric.

This sofa is a prime example of what country furniture made from plastic bottles can be not only beautiful, but also functional.

Furniture made from plastic bottles: table

A table is the simplest version of furniture made from plastic bottles.

It consists of forty bottles with a capacity of two liters. We also need a finished countertop. You can buy it or cut it yourself from plywood, in which case do not forget to varnish it. You can also use a tabletop from an old broken table.

We screw bottle caps onto the underside of the tabletop using bolts. Correctly calculate the distance between the corks; it should be equal to the diameter of the bottle.

As you understand, each of the legs consists of two bottles held together at the bottoms. They are fastened with glue and after complete drying they are simply screwed into the lids located under the tabletop.

Since the table looks quite simple, and there is no provision for sewing a cover, it is more suitable for the garden.

Our article presents only a small part of the ideas that can be brought to life using unnecessary plastic bottles. You can find many other crafts made from plastic bottles - furniture, toys, figurines of birds and animals, and even jewelry in our other articles.

The wonderful property of plastic bottles is that they can be found in many different applications. From them you can make not only all sorts of funny trinkets, but even pieces of furniture. DIY furniture made from plastic bottles will be appropriate on the playground where children play, in the country house, in the garage or barn. You can also take it with you if you are going outdoors - it will not become a heavy burden for you, since it is light and easy to carry. Let's look at a few master classes on making such furniture, with which you can create interesting and original items from plastic containers different forms and sizes.

Outdoor breakfast table

Cute and comfortable table made of plastic material can be built quickly and easily. The only materials you need are a tray and four plastic containers.

Important! If the bottles are long and thin, then the product can be used as a coffee table.

The manufacturing process is quite simple:

  1. Glue the bottles to the surface of the tray with their bottoms. These will be the legs of your table, and the tray itself will become the tabletop.
  2. To make the product look more attractive, the bottles can be wrapped with strong and thin twine, jute twine or coated with acrylic paints.
  3. The tabletop can also be decorated. To do this, you can decorate it using the decoupage technique or, for example, lay small flat pebbles on the surface.

Large table

The principle of making a larger table is approximately the same as in the previous method. Only for the surface of this piece of furniture made from plastic bottles, you should choose a stronger material with your own hands. For these purposes, a piece of plywood or, which is much better, a used tabletop from an old table is suitable.

Important! In order for the table to be durable, you should prepare large number plastic containers.

You should proceed something like this:

  • First, give the tabletop the required shape - the table can be either square or rectangular, or round.
  • Make the necessary markings on the back of the tabletop. In these places it is necessary to use self-tapping screws to connect the bottles with caps on the back side of the surface.
  • To make the legs stronger and longer, you can attach another row of bottles to the first row so that the bottoms of the first row join the bottoms of the second.

Important! It is advisable to use a special universal glue for plastic as glue.

  • If you want to hide plastic containers, you can somehow beautifully paint or paint them acrylic paint.

Stool

You can also make a small chair from plastic bottles with your own hands, for which you need to collect 7-10 identical two-liter plastic containers. Further:

  • Place the bottles together and wrap them tightly with tape.
  • Depending on the number and shape of the containers, you can first prepare sections of 3-4 bottles, and then link them into one design.

Important! Do not skimp on the tape, otherwise the chair will fall apart under the weight of a person.

  • To make the chair stable, you can fill the bottles with water or pour sand - a third of the volume of the container.
  • Cut a seat out of plywood (you can use several layers of thick cardboard) and then screw or nail it to the bottle caps.
  • Cover the entire structure with strips of newspaper, and then paint the finished stool with acrylic paint of the desired color.

Armchair

An armchair is a rather practical piece of furniture made from plastic bottles with your own hands, which is convenient to use in the garden, since such a product is not afraid of either sun or rain.

Important! Having covered such a design with his own sewn beautiful case, you will get a stylish and interesting modern chair.

As a rule, at least 250 plastic bottles are required to make such a piece of furniture. It is very important to understand how the bottles should be fastened, and this, in turn, will be useful for creating other things. The starting material will be modules made from four plastic containers.

Stages of work:

  1. After cutting the bottle in half, turn it over top part and insert it into the bottom one.
  2. Next, you need to insert a whole bottle into this design, and after dividing another container in half, put the bottom one on top.
  3. In order to secure the module, you should wrap it with transparent tape.
  4. Also use tape to connect the large module.
  5. By expanding the module in this way, you need to make the parts of the chair - the seat and back.
  6. Then, placing soft synthetic padding or foam rubber on the seat, put a cover on the chair.

Video material

An ordinary plastic container is the most common thing. But it is impossible to count all the cases when it can be useful on the farm. From it you can make both small but very useful things, for example, pots for seedlings, and you can build global structures, for example, an armchair, table or bed. DIY furniture made from plastic bottles is easy, convenient and practical. Use your imagination and you will get very interesting and practical things for your household.

Everyone who has a summer cottage strives to make it well-groomed and beautiful. I would like that in addition to beds and greenhouses, graceful flower beds with bright colors, small pretty garden sculptures stood everywhere, water gurgled in artificial streams and ponds lined with decorative stones.

In such a garden you want to relax, sit with a cup of tea, or lie down with an interesting book. The question arises about the need to purchase durable, functional and beautiful garden furniture. It is usually made of rattan (wicker structures) or forged metal. These tables and chairs look very elegant, but...

They are expensive, and there is a high probability that while you are sleeping, the furniture will disappear from the garden. How can we make sure that the garden set is inexpensive, convenient, quite durable and unpretentious, which is especially important in our weather conditions, and also looks original?

There is a way out, let's make furniture from plastic bottles with our own hands. Our master class will be happy to help you with this.

Sofa made of plastic bottles

Let's start by creating a comfortable plastic sofa. For it we will need 2 liter containers in the amount of 500 pieces. For fastening we will use wide tape. Since bottles are easily crushed and may not withstand pressure, let’s strengthen the foundations for our furniture. We cut off the top part of a two-liter bottle and insert it into the bottom, neck down.

Now we take another bottle and insert it into the resulting base, covering the top with the cut-off bottom. So, our design has become strong and reliable. Now we connect the bottles in 2 pieces, for which we wrap them with tape, not forgetting to provide required pressure. From modules of 2 pieces, you can also assemble larger fragments: this will take at least 16 modules per seat. Having assembled the seat, back and armrests, we connect them with tape. Our sofa is ready, all that remains is to sew a nice cover for it, although the original appearance is very stylish. It’s not difficult to make a bed or chair in the same way. The first will require 750 bottles, the second will require 250.

Bottle table

We were inspired to create the table by the ideas of avant-garde designer Jinhong Lin, who shocked the public with his chair made of plastic. We will need a square base in which small holes will be made. The size of the hole should be such that the neck of the bottle can be inserted into it. This frame can be made from plywood or other available material. Now we insert the bottles into the holes, they should all be the same.

To prevent the necks from “dangling”, you can lay foam insulation material. Having inserted all the bottles, we wrap the structure with tape for strength. The top will serve as a tabletop; if you are not very comfortable because of the uneven bottom of the bottles, you can put a board specially cut to the size of the table. If you wish, you can decorate the resulting table: paint the bottles themselves or the base, put an original tablecloth on top. By the way, banquettes can be easily made using the same technology.

Many will say that creating furniture from plastic bottles is a pointless waste of time, but the process of creating garden products with your own hands is very exciting, and besides, by using unnecessary bottles a second time, we take care of environment, breaking the circle of endless consumption.
