Which is pleasant to look at not only for yourself, but also so that you won’t be ashamed to show it to guests, friends and just acquaintances.

In this article we will show you new ideas on how you can decorate a mirror with your own hands.

DIY mirror decor - circle in circles

A creative approach to business can be an excellent tool in getting very stylish accessory. We called this idea “Circle in Circles” because the round mirror is framed by several dozen white plastic rings.

DIY mirror decor photo

And these rings are obtained from ordinary plastic pipe. The only difficulty of the process is that you need to cut the rings very carefully. They must be the same width, otherwise the product will not turn out neat. For this it is better to use electric saw“trimming” with a disk with fine teeth. If you don't have one, you can use a miter box.

A glue gun is used to fasten the rings; it can be used to glue all the rings together almost imperceptibly. But before that, the sections of each ring need to be treated with fine sandpaper to remove all burrs. After all, we are making a beautiful accessory, so everything in it must be neat.

The rings can be glued together in any way, not necessarily as in the photo, the composition can be either square or oval shape. It is recommended to do it in accordance with the shape of the mirror.

The mirror itself is glued onto the rings and also with a glue gun exactly in the middle. All parts to be glued must first be cleaned of dust; they can also be degreased. You can hang the product on the wall directly on the rings.

In this way, you can make a composition of two or three mirrors, and so that it does not look lonely, you can “support” it, for example glass vases or a white table, like the author’s.

Mirror frame made from disposable spoons

The idea may not be new, but it deserves attention. Because the result is quite good. You will need a lot of disposable spoons for the job. The author used 288 pieces for the project. The quantity may be less depending on the size of the mirror and the frame itself. But remember, the product must be self-sufficient and neat, otherwise how can you show it off to your guests!

You will also need:

  • Cardboard or MDF sheet 5-8 mm thick
  • Glue gun
  • Paint and brushes

First of all, you need to cut a circle out of a sheet of cardboard required diameter, it will be the base, the spoons will rest on it. Inside the circle, in the center, another circle is cut out slightly larger diameter mirrors Markings are made on the resulting cardboard ring to fix the first row of spoons (draw a circle with a pencil indented from the edge 1 cm).

The most difficult stage in the work is gluing the cups together. The work is dreary and long, it does not tolerate fuss and haste. You should start from the outer circle according to the markings. The last, inner row, is glued not to the cardboard, but to the previous row, so that 2-3 cm of the cups hang down.

The photo below was taken just before this stage.

When all the spoons are fixed and the glue has dried, we begin painting. The author of the idea painted the 4 inner ones from 7 rows. Any color can be used depending on the idea. In our situation, the master created the image of a chrysanthemum flower, which he did quite well by selecting desired color and shapes.

Another reason the composition should be painted is to hide the cheap shine of the plastic. But first it needs to be treated with a primer so that the paint adheres better and does not form smudges. Acrylic paint was used for painting.

Important point: the back hanging side of the inner row of spoons is also painted, because the mirror will be glued to it. If this is not done, the mirror will reflect it.

When the paint is completely dry, the mirror is fixed to the frame using the same gun. And a rope is glued to it or cardboard, and it is with it that the product is hung from the wall

This is what will come of it!

A mirror is a must-have item home interior, almost no room can do without it. In addition to the need to see our reflection in the mirror every day, we actively use mirrors to decorate and create a certain style.

IN lately the mirror is actively used as a decorative item; varied, sometimes bizarre, shapes or framed in original frame, it brings an element of exclusivity to the interior and emphasizes the creative character of its owners.

You can make a unique thing out of a simple mirror with your own hands, using your imagination and bringing your own unique ideas to life.

As an example, we offer three options for decorating a mirror to convince you how amazingly simple and interesting it is to decorate a mirror, what an exciting creative process it is, and what a magnificent result it turns out.

Option one: cereal

Yes, don’t be surprised, it’s cereals - rice, millet, pearl barley, buckwheat. The main thing is that it is coarse-grained; the grains of the cereal should ultimately resemble beads.

We stick masking tape along the outer edge of the mirror, forming a frame. The next inner layer of the frame is double sided tape, and again masking tape. The result is a triple frame. We place the cereal on double-sided tape, level it with our hands, press it tightly to the tape, trying to get a frame of uniform thickness, which we cover with gold spray. We remove the masking tape and get a three-dimensional frame, as if made of identical gold beads. You can glue some beads or bugles along the outer and inner edges of the resulting frame; in color they should be combined with gold, complementing or shading it. A glamorous mirror is ready to decorate your interior.

Option two: dry twigs

You can pick up dry twigs of different sizes under the trees in your yard. Glue a mirror onto a thin sheet of plywood using “liquid nails.” The size of the plywood should be larger than the mirror; the result is a plywood frame on which to lay out and glue tree branches. Prime the branches and paint them with plain paint. You can glue dried flowers, an artificial butterfly or dragonfly between the branches. Another exclusive, made by yourself, will delight you with its simplicity and originality.

Option three: lace

Well, it's very simple. Any lace napkins, you can even use a paper napkin from under the cake. Place the napkin on the mirror, secure it and cover it with “persistent frost” aerosol. If you want to get only a pattern of thin lace, then you need to cover the outer edges of the napkin with paper, otherwise you will unwittingly cover part of the mirror around the napkin with the aerosol. In this case, the mirror will have a frosty frame with a lace pattern along the inner edge - also very beautiful.

What other materials are used to decorate mirrors?

This could be pasta, coffee beans, corks, buttons, beads, shells, stained glass paints and a huge number of design options for mirrors and mirror frames, the main thing is to approach this matter creatively and boldly, and you will get a great result that will constantly delight you and surprise your guests.
