Choosing a hot stand. Do-it-yourself hot stand Wooden hot stand

Hot pads - irreplaceable thing in any home. They not only help protect the surface of the table, but also become a wonderful decorative element, especially if you make them yourself. We offer you 5 original master classes on creating stands from the most environmentally friendly and practical material- natural.

Stand made of clothespins

We will need about 40 ordinary wooden clothespins. We take them apart and drill a small hole in each half at a distance of about 1 cm from the edge. We stretch the wire through the holes and use it to form a neat circle.

Stand made of wooden beads

We take large beads and paint them in different colors (whole or only halves). Then we string the required amount onto a rope and tie the ends together. Take more beads - you will get a stand for a teapot, less - for a teapot or cup.

Coasters with geometric pattern

If you like to craft with wood, then you probably have a lot of unwanted scraps of boards. Now we will put everything into action! We cut out identical squares and cover them with wood impregnation. Now let's take edge tape and cut out different stripes and zigzags from it, and then glue them onto the stands using an iron. Iron each decorative element for about 10 seconds through the foil so as not to damage the surface of the iron.

Rustic stand

In fact, it is just a roughly processed board placed on dining table right with the bark. Of course, such a stand will not be suitable for a formal feast, but in the process of everyday cooking it will come in very handy. Not very convenient to put on cast iron cookware, and it looks impressive!

Hot stand made of dowels

It turns out that ordinary wooden dowels are an excellent material for hand-made projects. To build a stand out of them, you need to take 10 pieces about 20 cm long and drill 2 holes in each - at a distance of 5-6 cm from the edge. We eliminate unevenness with sandpaper and paint the sticks acrylic paints, wait for it to dry and fasten everything with a leather cord. Voila!

We hope that you like our publications about making wooden jewelry and other products with your own hands, we try to choose as much as possible interesting topics, which you could bring to “life” yourself.

Before the weekend, we managed to write four publications, each of which we recommend that you read - and or, be sure to read, these are very interesting master classes!

What do we need to make a stand from sawn wood for hot food with our own hands?

In fact, we only need four things:

  • Juniper branches (log houses) about three to six centimeters thick, this will be quite enough. Of course, you can always use other types of wood - plum, apple, ash, oak. The main thing is to have a beautiful drawing that will delight your eyes.
  • A miter saw (in our case 🙂), at home you can use a regular hacksaw
  • Glue, preferably for gluing wood
  • Sandpaper

How to make a hot stand with your own hands step by step

  • After we have selected the branches (or logs), we begin to process them. If the bark peels off very easily and practically breaks off by itself, then we remove it, but if it holds well, then this is even better, it will be more beautiful.

We cut it into small cuts with a miter saw (about four to five millimeters thick), if you don’t have one, then, as described above, we use a hacksaw.

  • After we have cut the required number of juniper cuts (usually 15-17 cuts are required for one stand different diameters), we need to polish them up a little. It should be noted that the fewer cuts you have, the easier it will be to assemble it, but it will not look as impressive. It should be noted that the fewer cuts you have, the easier it will be to assemble it, but it will not look as impressive.

We take wood glue (although PVA is suitable) and glue the cuts together as your imagination tells you, in any case it will turn out very beautiful. It is highly desirable that all our cuts adjoin each other well in several places, so that it is easier to glue them together.

Hot coasters have become an attribute that can be found not only in the kitchen, but also in restaurants, offices and client waiting areas of many companies. They can vary in shape, material, cost, and can even be a business promotion tool if advertising for the establishment is placed on the stand.

What is the main function of this accessory? Why do you need a hot tray? The answer is quite simple:

  • Reliably protects furniture and other surfaces from hot cups, plates, pots and pans;
  • Even if the dishes are not hot, they can leave scratches or abrasions, which they will also perfectly protect against;
  • If you choose them correctly for the interior, they can harmoniously complement it, arranging bright accents and bringing warmth and comfort into the house;
  • A loved one can cheer you up with a beautiful drawing, a funny inscription or a healing message. forest aroma, if it is made from natural wood.

The history of the origin of the hot pad

It’s quite difficult to say when the first ones appeared, but please tell us where the history of the origin of the modern stand comes from!

Germany is considered the birthplace of the very first cup stand. On German This accessory was called a coaster, which literally means “beer lid” when translated into Russian. What does this name mean? It turns out that according to the customs of the 19th century, the owners of German beer bars covered mugs with beer with felt napkins. This was done in order to protect the intoxicating drink from flies and other insects.

Then they began to put the same napkins under the mugs to prevent them from slipping. Coasters in those days were reusable; they were washed, dried, and used again. A few years later, products made from thick, moisture-absorbing cardboard were invented, but even such an accessory had a very short service life. This story briefly explains the historical origins of the hot pad. Over time, they began to be made from more durable materials that are resistant to moisture and high temperatures.

Modern “napkins” amaze with the variety of choices to suit every taste and budget. They are made from glass, metal, silicone, cork, fabric, porcelain. But the most popular among housewives are coasters made from natural wood. They can be made either from a single block of wood or from several cuts in the shape of flowers, fruits, or simply laid out on a base with an ornament.

It is not difficult to care for such a product; the main rule is not to leave it in water for a long time and store it near central heating.

What are the advantages of a wooden hot stand?

In the last decade, the trend of people returning to everything natural and environmentally friendly has become relevant. Residents of modern cities are tired of ubiquitous chemicals and artificial materials. Many are trying to switch to healthy image life and surround yourself with things that have natural origin. Increasingly, wooden accessories are appearing in kitchens, including for hot dishes.

What is their advantage over other materials?

Firstly, wood is a natural material, which means it is absolutely safe for the whole family, including small children. Wood does not emit harmful chemical compounds When heated, it's more likely the opposite. Some conifers trees, for example, if, then they will fill the room with the magical aroma of the forest. Aromatic oils which, among other things, are also healing.

Secondly, wooden kitchen utensils does not harm surfaces, wood will not leave marks, chips or scratches on your favorite dishes and furniture. does not heat up, does not melt, its surface is “tenacious” enough so that the delivered product does not slip off.

Thirdly, their price is affordable for anyone. Thanks to the variety of natural shades of wood and the plasticity of this material, stands can take different shapes, combine natural colors with each other, harmoniously complementing the interior of a Russian-style kitchen. You can burn your own words of congratulations or warm wishes on the tree and give it to your family and friends as a souvenir when you go to visit.

Today I will show and tell you step by step how to make a wooden stand for a hot frying pan or saucepan. You will see the entire stage in the photographs, and there will also be a description of each stage. Wooden crafts are not conquered by everyone; they are very difficult to make and take a lot of time, like, for example, or on, and you also need to initially have some skills.

The stand that we will make, as I wrote above, can be used both for flowers and for hot dishes. Personally, I use it more for dishes. You can simply create a board, sand it, cut out the outline and that’s it, but I want to make a board with a limiter. What does it mean? In our board that we will use for a hot frying pan, for example, there will be a small recess and if we place dishes in this recess, they will not move out of there and cannot fall out. You will understand everything during the process and production.

We will definitely need carpentry tools, which is why I said that we need to have at least some experience in carpentry.

And now the important points:

1. When we put hot food on the board, it should not char.
2. As I already wrote, the board must have stops so that it does not slip when carrying various dishes.
3. The main thing is that the stand needs to be made quite thick, because it can break or simply bend from the heat and take an incomprehensible shape. Also, the bottom of the stand should be even and smooth. Along with the dishes, you need the ability to conveniently take the stand.

Since we are making a stand for the frying pan, we need to make a recess exactly the same size in diameter as the frying pan itself. We take it, put it on paper and outline what we need to make a hole later. Cut out this template from paper.
You must first find a thick cut of any tree, I took a diagonal cut. It is best to have a thickness of about 35 millimeters, then the craft itself will not be too heavy, from 800 to 1000 grams (1 kg).

Let's take it in our hands electric jigsaw and cut out an ordinary blank, such that it would be larger diameter frying pans

The surface needs to be planed with a plane, since all our appliances are electrical, this is very easy to do.

Now we grind the surface with a special machine. But let's take a rough nozzle.

Then you need to take a special vibratory sander and carefully go over the surface.

After some preparations were made with the workpiece, it became about 5 millimeters smaller.
The next step is to take a pre-cut paper template. Let's place it on the workpiece, but in such a way that it is approximately in the center and there is an equal distance from the corners.

In the very center of the cut out circle we need to make a hole of about 5 millimeters. It's better to hit it a couple of times with a dowel.

We will need the hole we made for the next step.

Now we will mill. You need to have a special hand cutter, it is relatively expensive, so there would be several cutters and clamps. Required circular stop, because we need to create a clear circle, or rather a recess, directly under our frying pan. Such a stop has always been included in the kit of any milling tool.

Also included is a semicircular cutter.

Be sure to use a template for general markup. We place the template, then insert a circular stop into the hole, place the router itself on the edge of our template and move it left and right. We secure the guide router with screws.

One problem arises here: the workpiece needs to be secured. This is done using bars that we nail on the sides, and we place the workpiece between them. This is the most best option, and most importantly the most convenient.

We set the total milling depth to approximately 8-10 millimeters and mill around the circumference, following the paper blank.

Next step: you need to knock out the middle in the circle you have made. We change the cutter, now install a straight cutter (finger cutter, so to speak). But initially we will knock out the edges a little, this is so as not to damage the outer part of the circle.

Then we need to clean (knock out) the entire part of the made nest for the frying pan.

We take a hammer drill and put a polished attachment on it, thereby making the nest neat.

We remove our workpiece and remove the bars. Next, we secure it to the workbench with clamps. In this case, we use a cutter like this, which has bearings.

We need top part take the workpiece and chamfer it. Then we remove a little excess along the edges and round them.

We remove the edges step by step, since it is very difficult to do this right away. These edges are necessary so that you can easily grasp the made stand.

Now the stand for hot pots or pans is ready. And if suddenly there was a branch on the workpiece initially, then find out unnoticed.

To make the kitchen more comfortable, craftswomen can make a hot stand with their own hands. This is not only a beautiful interior detail, but also a very necessary thing. Any materials will be used.

Tree

The advantage of using this material is that it is more durable than, for example, fabric. To make a wooden hot stand, made with your own hands, you will need:

  • Wooden blanks (sold in craft stores. Choose the shape at your discretion).
  • A simple pencil.
  • Washing gum.
  • Acrylic varnish.
  • Paints, watercolors are better suited.
  • Brush.
  • Burning device.

Let's get started:

  1. First, draw on paper what a hot stand you make yourself should look like. It could be flowers, berries, an ornament or an inscription. The border around the edges, which serves as a frame, looks beautiful. Once you do this, it will be easier for you in the future. Now transfer the image with a simple pencil onto a wooden blank.
  2. Take the burning device and wait until it heats up. When everything is ready to continue working, burn out the design.
  3. If a simple pencil is visible in some places, be sure to wipe it off with an eraser, otherwise the work will look sloppy.
  4. You can leave the design of the stand as is, just cover it with acrylic varnish, or you can continue to decorate it.
  5. To do this, take paints and start decorating. Do this very carefully, because it will be difficult to get rid of errors. If you work with acrylic, then pay attention to the fact that in some places you will have to apply several layers to add saturation. Also, these paints can leak.
  6. The stand must dry, and then it must be varnished and allowed to stand for several hours to dry completely.

Made with your own hands!

Felt

It’s even easier to make hot coasters from felt with your own hands. They give more room for imagination than wood. You can choose the color and design based on the style of your kitchen.

To create “citrus” coasters you need to take:

  • Different colored felt (orange for orange, yellow for lemon, green for lime, etc.)
  • Scissors.
  • Threads in colors matching the fabric or white.
  • A needle.
  • Pins.

What to do:

  1. Create blanks. For one fruit you need two large circles of colored felt (the size of a future stand), a slightly smaller white circle and eight colored slices.
  2. Arrange the pieces in this order: large circle, medium circle and slices. Pin it with a pin.
  3. Sew the slices around the perimeter through both layers.
  4. To hide the seams, you need to sew a second large circle to the bottom one.

It's very simple! Create a few more of these “fruits” so that there is enough for all guests.

Idea

To create a stand for hot food, which you can easily make yourself, you can use scraps of felt. To do this, you only need one large piece, which will be the base, and several strips 5 millimeters wide. Length doesn't matter.

Take 3 different colors and place them on top of each other with a ladder, the indentations should be up to 10 millimeters. The beginning needs to be glued, now begin to tightly twist the strips with a snail, add glue if necessary. To complete the flagellum, make the inner strip 2 centimeters shorter than the outer one and secure it with glue, do the same with the middle one, only make it shorter by only 5 millimeters. Make as many snails as necessary to cover the entire base. Attach the workpieces to it using a heat gun.

Textile

To create such coasters with your own hands from fabric, you will need small scraps. You don't even have to go to the store to buy new materials; you probably have them lying around somewhere at home. So, for work you will need:

  • Fabric in eight different colors.
  • Sewing machine (if not, you can try to sew it carefully by hand).
  • Hexagon pattern.
  • Scissors.

What to do:

A homemade hot stand will be a beautiful addition to any feast. As you have seen, it is not at all difficult to make it from different materials.
