  • screwdriver, you can use a drill;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • roulette;
  • construction corner, 30 cm long will be enough;
  • drills, required sizes - 8 and 5 mm in diameter;
  • screwdriver, it is very important to purchase a hex model;
  • iron;
  • a pencil for basting, a hammer, and sandpaper.

If the table parts have been ordered, you can immediately begin assembly. If this process is carried out independently, it is necessary to start with measurements and drawing contours on a sheet of chipboard. It is very important to measure correctly and only then cut. In order to make the dressing table perfect, it is better to take measurements several times.

For a dressing table it will be sufficient to use a sheet thickness of 16 mm.

After all the parts are cut out using a jigsaw, the ends must be cleaned sandpaper. This should be done carefully so as not to damage the lamination.

The next step is assembly. Almost all cabinet furniture has the same fastening systems. They can be purchased at any hardware store in the hardware department. For a table with a shelf and drawers you will need the following set of fittings:

General view of the dressing table.

    • confirmat size 5x70 mm, can be purchased with a reserve;
    • self-tapping screws measuring 4x16 mm;
    • self-tapping screws measuring 4x25 mm;
    • for drawers you need to purchase roller guides, the size and quantity depends on the size of the structure;
    • handles for drawers;
    • soft edging for ends;
    • adhesive-based melamine edge, it is recommended to take extra;
    • metal furniture corners;
    • glue for the mirror, you can use mechanical fasteners;
    • for the handles you need to select screws.

    Features of the assembly process

    If the design of the table involves curved lines, do not rush during the cutting process. It will depend on how the parts are prepared appearance designs.

  1. The prepared parts must be processed from the end side. To do this they need to be primed. This can be done using regular Moment glue. This technique will make chipboard edges more durable.
  2. After complete drying, you need to apply another layer of glue and put on the edging. The soft edging is used only on the upper tabletop. To finish the ends that are not edged, use a melamine edge.
  3. In order to glue it, the ends also need to be cleaned. Melamine edge glued regular iron. Applying one end of the edge to the end, iron it with a well-heated iron (up to 3-4 power). The iron needs to be passed over the top several times until it is completely glued. Press well with a dry cloth. After cooling, trim off excess elements. It is very important to use a blunt object that will not damage the laminate. The edge is cleaned with fine sandpaper.
  4. Finished parts can be assembled. Roller guides for drawers are installed in disassembled form. The entire structure is assembled by confirmants. The base of the table is assembled first, then the section with drawers or cabinet. All departments are connected to each other. During the assembly process, you should check with a construction angle that the angles are 90 degrees.
  5. The final step is installing the mirror. It is first secured to a prepared chipboard part. A more reliable option for fastening are mechanical holders that are screwed into the base of the chipboard.
  6. The entire structure with the mirror is attached under the tabletop. For additional strength, it is necessary to install guides that will hold the structure with the mirror. A correctly installed mirror should not be movable.

For greater convenience, such a table can be equipped with lamps with daylight. Making a dressing table with your own hands is quite possible, the main thing is to follow the recommendations and be patient and attentive. And a table made with your own hands will delight your beloved woman.

A dressing table is an indispensable attribute of a woman's bedroom. In its drawers and shelves all kinds of perfumes and objects are stored, without which a woman cannot imagine a full existence, but the main part of this table is the mirror.

A dressing table is a small cabinet with a mirror designed to store cosmetics and other items.

Try making a dressing table with a mirror with your own hands. Today you can buy almost everything to make it, and if your plan succeeds, then you will not only give your life partner original item furniture, but real happiness.

Materials for manufacturing

Perhaps this is your first time taking on the construction of a dressing table with a mirror and you don’t quite understand how all kinds of dressing tables are made. The simple and compact design will fit even in the smallest room.

For production you will need:

  • laminated chipboards with a thickness of at least 16 mm;
  • plywood or radio cardboard;
  • fittings (handles, furniture canopies, drawer guides);
  • melamine or PVC tape;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • confirmations;
  • plastic plugs;
  • mirror;
  • glue or 2-sided tape.

By the way, the dressing table top can be made of thicker chipboard. You can also assemble a thicker slab by connecting 2 16mm panels together. The configuration of the wall to which the mirror will be attached depends on its shape. You can cut a mirror from an old product you have, order it from a specialized workshop, or buy it ready-made in a store.

The list of tools is short. Prepare:

  • pencil;
  • tape measure or long ruler;
  • awl;
  • square;
  • jigsaw or circular saw;
  • drill-driver;
  • key for tightening confirmations.

To cut laminated chipboard, use a jigsaw with a special saw.

Mark the slabs according to the dimensions indicated in the drawing and cut the chipboard into the required fragments. Laminated particle board must be cut with care, as chips may form on the edges. For sawing, use a special saw blade designed for working with chipboard, or an appropriate jigsaw blade. There is an opinion that it will not be possible to avoid chipping when cutting slabs at home, but this is not true. They need to be sawed with a tool with well-sharpened working surfaces, set to maximum speed, without stopping cutting in the middle of the material being processed. You can cover the cutting line with clear tape before sawing.

After sawing chipboard ends covered with melamine tape. It fits tightly to the edges after ironing with a hot iron. Excess tape is cut off with a utility knife.

Possible chips will be hidden by a U-shaped facing tape, which is placed on the edges with glue.

The double tabletop is assembled using glue and self-tapping screws screwed into it from below (for self-tapping screws and confirmations, holes must be pre-drilled). After joining, the ends of the tabletop are covered with tape.

Assembling the dressing table and installing the mirror

Mark the mounting locations for the fasteners. Before drilling holes, mark the laminated surface particle boards awl After drilling, countersink the holes for the confirmat heads. 5 mm holes are prepared for fastening, and countersinking is carried out with a drill with a cross-section of 8 mm. Cut out the back partition from fiberboard or plywood. Assemble the table roughly. Check whether the structure is assembled correctly. Using a tape measure, once again determine the dimensions of future drawers, doors and shelves.

Make drawers, a door and a shelf for the nightstand. Their front walls may be closed facade panels from MDF. Guide runners are attached to the drawers and sides of the table with self-tapping screws. It is necessary to drill 2 blind holes in the door for furniture hinges. The diameter of each hole is 3.5 cm. A corresponding bit is inserted into the drill chuck, and a limiter is installed so that the drilling depth does not exceed 12.5 mm. The hinges are attached with short self-tapping screws.

With your own hands? What models can be made at home? How to make a dressing table not just a functional item, but also a bedroom decoration.

Dressing table– an optional subject, but as practice shows, necessary. Sometimes it turns into a shelf mounted under a mirror and is placed not in the bedroom, but in the bathroom or hallway, but in some form it still exists.

And if there is no desire or opportunity to purchase a ready-made item in a store, you can make a dressing table with your own hands.

Structurally, this item is completely simple. In the very simple version this is really an ordinary table of the required dimensions, and it is not necessary - the latter can be mounted on the wall. In more complex designs, drawers are provided. Home craftsmen can easily cut out complex products with cabinets, drawers and shelves.

You can develop a table design yourself, or, if you don’t have such experience, use ready-made drawings on furniture websites and forums. Among the countless models, there will certainly be a product with suitable sizes.

To bring your idea to life, you will need some materials and tools.

Materials:

  • Chipboard - or laminated chipboard, the undisputed leader in home furniture production, since it has minimal weight, is affordable and easy to process. Sheets with a thickness of 16 mm are selected;
  • MDF is a more expensive option, but also more impressive and durable;
  • wood - it is worth taking on only if you have experience. Although this material is also very easy to process, and wood, for example, pine, is inexpensive, the furniture in the bedroom, especially the dressing table, must not only be firmly made, but also excellently finished. And for this you will need at least a milling machine;
  • Fiberboard or plywood for the bottom of the drawers and the back wall of the product.

Fasteners:

  • Confirmats 5*70 mm – universal furniture fastening. It is recommended to purchase with a reserve;
  • self-tapping screws 4*16 and 4*25 mm;
  • roller guides for drawers. If you plan to install shelves, then these parts will not be needed;
  • metal furniture corners;
  • fittings for drawers and doors;
  • adhesive-based finishing edge - the easiest to fix, as well as a soft edging for the tabletop.

Tools:

  • a screwdriver or drill, if the necessary attachments are available;
  • electric jigsaw for cutting chipboard sheets;
  • drills 5 and 8 mm in diameter;
  • tape measure and construction corner;
  • sandpaper;
  • screwdriver for confirmation - has a specific hexagonal shape, and, unfortunately, is not universal. Often confirmation requires a special screwdriver, which is usually included in the kit. This issue should be clarified with the seller.

Besides, you may need some additional accessories or details: mirror, LED strip, plastic or glass inserts for doors, decorative panels and so on.

Do it yourself!

The most an important condition to receive good result is the thoroughness of execution. Parts, especially for a simple model, are easy to make. But fitting and finishing edges and edges requires both precision and patience.

The second condition is to follow the chosen project. The inclusion of a new element in the design, replacement of material, and even the use of other fittings will require some additional actions. And if, with extensive work experience, changing the design does not cause difficulties, then without it, furniture manufacturing turns into an endless process of fitting one part to another.

Without a mirror

Before choosing a project, you need to accurately determine the dimensions of the future furniture and the installation location. Create or select finished project and transfer each detail of the product onto paper or cardboard.

  1. On chipboard sheets impose ready-made templates, and cuts out the corresponding parts. IN construction stores A sheet cutting service is often offered, which is recommended to be used. Cutting material electric jigsaw cannot be compared with the work of professional equipment: in this case the cut will be much cleaner and the workpieces will be more accurate.
  2. If the design of the selected model does not include elements of complex shape, then the work can be done with your own hands without much experience.
  3. The ends of all parts are cleaned with sandpaper. In this case, small chips may form: this does not pose a problem, since the damage will be covered with the end tape.
  4. The ends are primed twice to strengthen the edges - you can use Moment glue. Then a soft edging is placed on the tabletop, and the ends are covered with melamine edge. The latter is glued to the edge and smoothed with a heated iron.
  5. The table frame is assembled first: table top, side posts or support legs, back wall. For fastening, holes are drilled in the appropriate places, then the parts are fixed with confirmations and the corners are checked using a construction angle. If the structure is assembled correctly, then the confirmations are tightened with a key.
  6. To ensure reliable fastening of the sidewalls and support legs, they are duplicated with a metal corner.
  7. The drawers are assembled: the side parts are drilled flat, the back and front parts are drilled into the end. Then the product is assembled for confirmation, checked and tightened with a screwdriver. The plywood bottom is secured with small nails.
  8. The guide – the drawer part – is secured to the sidewalls with self-tapping screws. To the sides of the cabinet or table - a corresponding counter part. The drawer is inserted into the guides.
  9. Holes for handles are drilled on the facades and the fittings are secured.
  10. If the project has a cabinet with doors, then to install overhead hinges you will need a 35 mm Forstner drill. Using a drill, holes are made for hinges with a depth of 12.5 mm, and the hinges are secured with screws. The hinges are fixed to the sash with self-tapping screws.

With a mirror

The dressing table is often made without a mirror. In this case, either a tabletop or wall-mounted product is used. The last option is, of course, more effective. But making a model with a mirror yourself is also quite possible.

Two methods are used.

  1. The back wall is cut out not from fiberboard, but from chipboard, and together with the base for the mirror. The latter can be a functional device, or may include a decorative frame complex shape. The purchased mirror is fixed to the base plastic holders or glue. You can use double-sided tape.
  2. A less aesthetic option is used in cases where there was no mirror in the original project. In this case, the chipboard structure underneath is fixed to wooden guides, and the latter are screwed to the ends of the table. It is advisable to provide a base shape such that it covers the guides.

The following two videos will help you create a dressing table with a mirror with your own hands:

And the last part of the video tutorial:

For girls

The design is no different from an “adult” one: a table with or without drawers, with or without a cabinet, and so on. The dimensions of the product are, of course, much smaller. As a rule, simple models are made for children's rooms, since what is required here is not an elegant shape, but rather structural stability and ease of use.

The main thing in children's furniture is decoration. But in addition to painting in bright shades or decorating surfaces with overhead plastic panels, you can do something else: original design mirrors

The most popular ones are the crown and the cat's face. The manufacturing technology here is the same, only the template is different.

  1. Place a mirror on a sheet of plywood or fiberboard, trace it, then step back from the line outward by 1 cm, and inward by 2–3 cm, depending on how wide the frame you want to get.
  2. The contours are modified accordingly. For example, they draw ears for a cat’s face and whiskers, but in such a way that inner size the frame has not changed.
  3. The workpiece is cut out of plywood, painted desired color. If necessary, additional details are cut out of plywood - a bow, an earring, the same mustache.
  4. The mirror is fixed to a chipboard base with holders or glue. Then the frame and additional parts are glued to liquid nails.

The undoubted advantage of this design is its uniqueness.

Backlit

It can perform 2 functions: only decorative or only functional. In the first case, you can use LED strips, even colored ones. They are placed along the edge of the tabletop, along the legs or at the bottom of the cabinet. Installing such lighting is very simple: the tape indicates possible places cutting and joining. The only thing that is important to remember is that the tape requires a 12 V power supply, so it is connected to the network through a power supply.

In the second case, more intense lighting is required, and most importantly - more uniform, since the quality of makeup depends on this.

The most popular way is to install a backlit mirror frame.

  1. From wooden planks 20–25 mm thick and about 90 mm wide, the main frame is assembled with glue according to the size of the mirror. The ends are filed at 45 degrees and additionally fixed with metal corners.
  2. Holes are drilled in the frame for light bulb sockets. From thinner rivers, a front frame is glued together, which will cover the backlight wires.
  3. Then furniture corners are fixed to the base, on which the mirror is placed. The cartridges are connected in parallel.
  4. The assembled structure is painted in the desired color, the power cord is routed through the drilled hole.
  5. Screw in the light bulbs and check the operation of the product. If desired, you can cover the entire structure at the back with a sheet of plywood.

In the next video the presenter will talk about it. how to make a dressing table with lighting with your own hands:

Making a dressing table is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. In fact, in various variations, it is a small single-pedestal table with drawers and a mirror. The mirror can be stationary or movable, mounted on the hinged lid of the tabletop from the inside.

Photos and drawings of a dressing table with your own hands

Not long ago I was going through photos from last year furniture exhibitions. And in the folder for 2014 I found one very good model.

I really liked it cantilever design. It’s brilliant to add a console using a similar principle, for example, to a bedside table and get an excellent dressing table with your own hands!

How to do bedside table with my own hands, I already painted it. Such a console can be attached to any chest of drawers (for example, to) - and a dressing table with a mirror will look quite stylish and interesting.

You can, of course, not try to make existing furniture in the bedroom multifunctional, but make a dressing table with your own hands as an independent and separate piece of furniture. Drawing and assembly diagram with overall dimensions DIY dressing table will look like this.

The dimensions can be changed - make the dressing table with the mirror larger and wider, the way you want. We will describe step by step how to make such a model with your own hands.

How to make a dressing table with your own hands?

Let's not waste time thinking about what the mirror at the dressing table will be like. Because there really are a lot of options:

  • Attach it to a backing or insert it into a frame.
  • Make it square, round or fancy shape.
  • Decorate with sandblasting and bevelling.
  • Complete with stylish lamps or LED strip.
  • Buy separately and hang on the wall. In strict wooden frame or with a frame made of openwork forging.
  • Design a movable box for it that will allow you to change the angle of the mirror.

Which option to choose is up to you.

Let's focus on the basic design of the dressing table for now. In fact, you will need to assemble the frame of the cabinet, the drawers for it and the console superstructure.

You won't have to do much drilling for assembly on confirmats. If the parts are cut to size and rolled according visible sides, the whole process will take no more than a day.

DIY dressing table, calculation of details according to drawings

You can make a dressing table for a girl or a fully grown lady from any material - wood, plywood, laminated chipboard. The main thing is to decide on the model based on the photo. Then draw everything to scale to determine the dimensions and not “lose” sight of the details. And then, taking into account the thickness of the material, calculate the dimensions of all workpieces.

The most convenient way to do this is in Excel, entering data into a tabular form. For our model of a dressing table, the calculations of the parts, taking into account the thickness of the chipboard 16 mm and indicating the sides for edging, will be as follows.

The consumption of chipboard relative to a whole sheet is small; it can be completely combined with the manufacture of other pieces of furniture for the bedroom. Or, for example, include several simple shelves, to attach to the wall on beautiful holders - they will never be superfluous in the house.

You can also use the base for the mirror of the required size - if you decide to choose the option where it is simply attached to the chipboard, as in the photo.

Drilling of dressing table parts and assembly according to drawings

First, all the parts of the future table need to be drilled. Before doing this, it is better to lay out the paired parts so as not to confuse the sides on which they will be drilled relative to the leading edge. And also do not forget that the stand and sides of the drawers are drilled mirror-image relative to each other.

If all the holes have been drilled correctly, the furniture will assemble like a construction set. You can see how to install drawers in a cabinet, with which guides, here, in the assembly of a tall chest of drawers. All actions will be the same.

To make it easier to assemble the dressing table with your own hands, I will provide an assembly drawing.

What you will need to make your own dressing table

As for the tools, if you order cutting of parts and edging on the side, you will only need the usual craftsman's tool - a drill for drilling, a screwdriver and a screwdriver for assembly, an awl, a tape measure, a square and other small improvised materials that are found in any home.

You will also need to purchase accessories and consumables. I indicated everything necessary in the estimate table.

Additional expenses include purchasing a mirror of the desired size and design.

It doesn't cost that much money if you decide to make your own vanity. Much less than choosing something from ready-made furniture.
