How to fix a gas leak from a gas cylinder with your own hands. When the gas tap in the kitchen skips - the right action Gas stove burners turn off

How to fix a gas leak from a gas cylinder valve high pressure or from a system attached to a cylinder?

Situation example. You filled the cylinder at the station, arrived home, connected the reducer, as well as the sleeves, tightened the hex of the reducer on the cylinder, opened the cylinder valve - and you understand that the gas is poisoning somewhere in the upper part of the flywheel. If the cylinder is filled with, for example, carbon dioxide, you will immediately feel an extraneous smell.

Attention! We warn you that the repair of cylinders should be carried out by specially trained and certified specialists! We strongly recommend that you do not self repair high-pressure cylinders, unskilled intervention can lead to tragedy. When carrying out the repair work described below, you are responsible for the manipulations carried out.

It happens that you need to work, but there is a small malfunction that is quite acceptable to fix on your own.

So, in order to eliminate the breakdown described above, it is necessary to do the following (valid only for the VK-94 valve and its modifications):

  • To get started, take wrench 27 mm and try to tighten the nut shown in the photo, clockwise. In most cases this helps.

If, when you try to open the flywheel, the gas begins to poison from its upper part again, it is necessary to unscrew it counterclockwise until it stops, the leak should stop.

If the previous manipulation did not help, then the following must be done (valid only for the VK-94 valve, the procedure should be carried out only with skill):

  • Loosen the flywheel nut counterclock-wise and remove it from the bottle.

  • Then use a 10mm wrench to unscrew the nut located at the top of the flywheel.

  • Remove the stem from the nut - a stuffing box is installed inside it.

  • If the cylinder is not the first freshness (and those in our country are 90%), then the gasket will be in the appropriate, “shabby” condition. To eliminate the leak, you need to make the same new gasket from fluoroplast (GOST 15180-86) or paronite (GOST 481-80). You can try to make a gasket from plastic canister, but this is short-lived and ineffective. The inner hole of the gasket should be no more than 8.5 mm in size, the outer one, respectively, according to the size of the inner diameter of the nut. The stem after replacing the gasket should sit in a tight fit, you will need additional tool to hammer it in (hammer, flat part of an adjustable wrench, etc., etc.) and thus put it back in place. Then the flywheel is installed back and screwed with a nut.

Note. The flywheel nut is not tightened all the way, but so that the spring is tensioned, but not clamped. Otherwise, the flywheel will not rotate.

  • Install the assembly back on the cylinder and tighten the nut clockwise with a 27 mm wrench not to the stop (with a force of 5-7 kg).

Note. Similar procedures can be performed only with the VK-94 valve and its modifications.

The valve type VKB cannot be disassembled. If there is gas in the cylinder, even residual pressure, it is strictly forbidden to open the nut. Because apart from it, the pressure in the cylinder does not hold anything! SUCH CYLINDER CAN ONLY BE REPAIRED EMPTY.

FROM back side valve type VKB there is a small control hole. In the event of a breakdown of the diaphragms that are inside the valve, gas begins to flow from this hole. If gas does not come out of this hole when the gearbox is screwed on and the valve is opened, then the valve is in good condition and they are allowed to work.

VKB is usually installed on cylinders with helium, for all other gases, as a rule, VK-94 is installed.

If the cylinder is expired and needs to be inspected or replaced, pay attention to the following things:

    • The cylinder wall should not have dents, rotting shells with a depth of more than 1 mm;
    • Pay attention to the date of manufacture of the cylinder, the passport must be read on it;
    • Pay attention to the valve, it should not be beaten off (so that it can be unscrewed).

Gas is the main assistant of the cook and fireman, it will not be cold and hungry with him. Knowledge of safety rules and behavior patterns during emergencies will save you from troubles and help strengthen your "friendship" with the gift sent to us by Mother Nature. Still don't know what to do when you miss gas cock in the kitchen and how to check if there is a leak? Well then, let's get down to business.

You probably know that natural gas comes to our kitchen directly from the bowels of the earth, naturally, bypassing kilometers of pipes. The main combustible component of the gas is methane. It is he who is a threat to human life if he leaves the pipeline. A 5% concentration of this substance in the air is enough, and if you do nothing, ignition or explosion is inevitable. “Why does everything have to end in fire?” - you ask. As a rule, due to ignorance of the rules of behavior in such situations, people do not stop using electrical devices (sometimes they even turn on the light to understand what kind of bad smell comes from the kitchen), or even at all, when sometimes the gas tap in the kitchen poisons, they bring a lit match to the stove in order to understand which burner is broken.

Worth paying attention! Natural gas, you may be surprised, has no smell, no taste or color. Therefore, it is odorized before being pumped into the pipes leading to consumers - it is saturated with a substance with a specific, unpleasant odor, which is harmless to humans and helps us to know about a gas leak from the system.

According to the rules for handling gas, the population is prohibited from dismantling or repairing pipes on their own. But what if the gas faucet in the kitchen skips? First, open the doors, windows. Secondly, stop using electrical appliances. Third, call the appropriate service.

What to do if you suspect a gas leak, but you are not sure about it, do you exclude that everything seemed to you? There is a way to check the correctness of such an assumption. Make a soapy solution and apply it to the faucet or areas where you think gas might be leaking. If, however, there is a breakdown, then bubbles should appear, moreover, of a solid size. Doubt? Do the operation again, because calling the emergency service because of baseless suspicions is also bad, isn't it?

It looks like one of the models of the gas valve

Crane repair and lubrication

Naturally, according to the rules, it is better to invite a master, but many men consider themselves sufficiently "savvy" in order to produce repair work on one's own. Well, this can be, especially if the owner of the house has already dealt with the repair of gas pipelines and specialized equipment.

Consider a version of a mini-repair - lubricating a gas valve.

What will be needed to carry out the work?

  • screwdriver;
  • gag (made of wood or in the form of a wet cloth in a plastic bag);
  • lubricant (from graphite or grease);
  • the cloth.

Make sure that nothing interferes with you, you should approach the pipe tightly, if necessary, move the stove away

Of course, it is better to shut off the gas supply for the duration of lubrication. But it happens that this is not possible, then try to lubricate the tap without overlapping. Turn off household appliances, open the window, put out the fire (you can’t use candles either).

Using a screwdriver, unscrew the plug on the tap, remove the spring, and then the cone. Close the hole with a gag. Remove dirt and old grease from the valve, apply a new mixture. Remove the gag (you need to do this very quickly), replace the shutter, spring and plug. Check the tightness in the way you already know with a soapy solution. No bubbles? It means that you have successfully completed the job, the crane is lubricated and will work properly. If the leak does not stop, call the gas service immediately.

It's important to know! Allow specialists with supporting documents to carry out such work, including a license, to the process of connecting any gas appliances. During the work, be nearby to come to the master to help if necessary. "Armed" with soap, do not forget to check the quality of work.

The faucet has been replaced, it remains only to paint the pipe

Now you know what to do and how to behave, if the gas valve in the kitchen skips, then your house will always be safe.

It doesn't matter where you smelled household gas, in your country house, in an apartment or an entrance on a landing - a gas leak is a serious danger to the property and health of people around you. Gas with prolonged leakage accumulates in a confined space, turning into an explosive mixture that can detonate at any time. That is why we recommend calling the gas service at the slightest smell of gas. But if you live in a country house remotely from gas facilities and calling a gasman to your house is impossible for some reason, then read our article to the end and you will learn how to find a gas leak in the stove and quickly eliminate it.

Gas leakage in the stove occurs for several reasons:

. Hose gasket burst or pressed through;
. Hose connection nut loose;
. A hole has formed in the hose;
. weakened sealing rubber crane;
. The gas cock was loose;
. Lack of lubrication of the tap plug;
. The installation of the plate was carried out by an incompetent person.

Household gas has no smell. In order to give it a sharp unpleasant odor: the chemical odorant ethyl mercaptan is added to it. This is done on purpose so that a person can feel an unpleasant smell and respond to its presence, so the first sign of a gas leak in the stove is an unpleasant smell, reminiscent of the smell of rotten eggs.

When you light the oven gas stove or the stove burner, a small amount of gas may enter the kitchen area and give the illusion of a leak - this is normal. But if, after turning on the stove and during long cooking, you constantly feel the presence of gas, most likely the tightness has broken somewhere, which requires attention on your part, namely search and elimination.

How to find a gas leak in a stove

O open the oven door. If the smell of gas has become stronger, a thorough inspection of the gas stove faucet will most likely be required, as from prolonged use, the faucet mechanisms can dry out and leak a little. Read more in this article: Repair and adjustment of gas valves.

AT slide the plate away from the wall. If you felt strong smell most likely a gas leak in the stove connection. You should purchase a new hose with paronite gaskets and install in place of the old one. If there are no visible defects on the old hose, you can get by with replacing the gaskets alone.

AT the stove is off, the smell of gas from the burners. AT this moment such a malfunction is irrelevant, since modern stoves installed gas control. With the faucet off solenoid valve shuts off the gas supply to the burner and eliminates leakage. In hobs, a leak at this point indicates a poor connection between the gas hose and hob. The gas is lighter than air, it rises and accumulates under the panel. In this case, you can feel a distinct smell around the switch handles. You can always use our services and call our master for diagnostics and subsequent repair of built-in panels.

P search with soapy water. From the dishwashing detergent, prepare a soapy solution with a small foam. Apply the solution to everything threaded connections pipes, hoses. Any bubbles you see indicate a gas leak.

Use the services of professionals. All repair services have gas leak detectors. You can always invite a specialist to your home for diagnostics. If you live in a country house, you can buy such a device in personal use. The leak detector does not take up much space - it is a small portable device that runs on batteries. All you need is the correct setting.

Advice: With be quiet and listen. Gas leakage occurs due to the pressure in the system, which is trying to be released to the outside. If you're lucky, you might be able to hear and locate the leak.

If one day, while driving, in your car equipped with gas equipment, you heard smell of gas, which is clearly felt, you should immediately take measures to eliminate this malfunction, as well as to establish the cause of its occurrence. How to do this, we will tell in this article.

If the HBO is functioning correctly, there should not be any extraneous odors associated with gas in the cabin and you must understand this, no excuses like: "The car is on gas, it stinks ..." - be shouldn't! Compared to the smell of gasoline gas smell in the cabin can cause a lot of trouble...

If the smell of gas in the cabin appeared shortly after the installation of HBO, this can only indicate one thing - the gas equipment was installed with violations, most likely there is a leak in the connections or in the HBO itself, or the components are very Low quality. For example, fuel hoses, reducer, gas bottle etc. As a rule, installation problems arise in the case of installation gas system"with your own hands" or in some "unfortunate workshop". Such service stations, in pursuit of a client, try to lure those who want install hbo on car at any cost, and in order to reduce the cost of the gas kit, they use low-quality materials, or a fake, which later can cause gas in the cabin and even a great tragedy.

In order for HBO to serve for a long time, and you do not worry about your safety, you should buy only branded components, even if their significance in the system, in your opinion, is very insignificant. In addition, it must be carried out only by qualified specialists at a service station that has all the necessary permits to perform this type of work. Gas supply hoses must have high strength, hoses found somewhere from something to use IT IS FORBIDDEN! Only durable gas hoses and clamps can provide tightness and save you from gas leaks.

If the smell of gas is heard in the exhaust, this may indicate an incorrectly adjusted gas installation. Each has its own differences, some of them require calibration during operation after a certain time. Go through those regularly. installed on your car, after a period of time set by the manufacturer. Change the gas filter every 10-5 thousand kilometers.

And the last. If you found gas smell in the cabin, that is, a leak while the car is moving - IMMEDIATELY stop, close the valves on the gas cylinder, ventilate the passenger compartment, and continue further movement on gasoline. Moreover, it should be understood that you do not need to go home, not on business, but to a service station that can check, find the source of the gas leak and eliminate it quickly and safely. Take care of yourself and be vigilant!

The gas stove is popular today, as before, - both in cities, and in villages, and in summer cottages. Its advantages are many years of service life, low cost of use, the ability to work where there is no centralized supply of gas or electricity. Many housewives appreciate gas stoves for the speed of cooking. However, it must be remembered that gas is an explosive substance. Gas stove malfunctions can lead not only to damage to property, but also to death.

Most the right decision in case of breakage gas equipment- call a specialist. In large cities, repair of gas stoves is easily carried out at home. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Polite Service 5+ company has proven itself excellently. Its employees quickly travel to any area and professionally cope with stoves of any type.

It is more difficult for those who live in remote areas. In this case, please contact your nearest service center. At the same time, you need to know what are the main malfunctions of gas stoves and the reasons for their occurrence. In some situations, it is quite possible to deal with a breakdown on your own.

In most cases, the repair of gas stoves requires special knowledge, experience and equipment.

The smell of gas

The appearance of the smell of gas is one of the most dangerous troubles that can lead to an explosion, fire, and poisoning. It indicates a depressurization of the fuel supply system and can occur both when the equipment is turned off, and when it is turned on or during operation.

The first thing to do in such a situation is to turn off the gas supply and ventilate the room! Only then can you start examining your stove. You may not be able to fix the breakdown on your own, but you can identify the source of the leak.

The smell of gas occurs when the stove is turned off

Soapy water will help to determine the place of depressurization. Apply it to all joints of pipes and hoses, both outside the stove and inside it. Where there is leakage, bubbles will appear.

To understand how to fix this type of failure, you need to determine the type of connection. If the threaded connection is depressurized:

  • disassemble the damaged assembly, check the integrity of all parts by cleaning them from winding or old sealant;
  • apply fresh sealant or make a new winding;
  • collect all parts and recheck.

If the connection with the gasket is depressurized:

  • disassemble the leaking assembly;
  • install a new gasket;
  • collect the parts and retest.

The smell of gas occurs during the operation of the stove

The most common cause of this type of malfunction is incorrect flame adjustment. Less commonly, the problem is a breakdown of the connections that connect when the stove is turned on:

  • nozzle installation points;
  • places of connection of tubes from taps to nozzles;
  • joints between tubes and nozzle bodies.

In order to determine the leak in this case, it is necessary to remove the burners, remove the cover, reinstall the burners in their places (without the cover), apply soapy water to the joints and carefully light the burners in turn. Be careful: bubbles will appear at the leak point, indicating a depressurization.

The cause of such a malfunction may be the destruction of the sealing washers on the nozzles, too loose tightening of the connections, a defect sealing ring at the connection points of the pipes.

If you inspect the stove and do not find a leak, the cause of the smell may be wrong connection equipment to the gas source. In this case, do not try to fix the situation yourself. You need to call a specialist!

Gas stove smokes

This type of violation can be detected very quickly. It is enough to see that the flame on the working burners turned from uniformly blue to yellow-red. Changing the color of the fire indicates unstable operation gas burner. The color of the flame changes with incomplete combustion of gas or lack of air when supplied, which causes the appearance of soot.

Most common causes the occurrence of soot and how to eliminate them:

  • the nozzle is clogged - remove the cover, flame diffuser and clean the nozzle hole;
  • the flame arrester is clogged - remove it, rinse it, soak it in water if necessary, wipe it dry and install it back;
  • the flame arrester is deformed - despite the strength of the part, this happens during long-term active operation, replacement is necessary;
  • low-quality gas is an extremely rare case in houses with mains supply and quite frequent situation when using cylinders, a change of fuel is necessary;
  • high gas pressure in the cylinder - it is necessary to adjust the fuel supply reducer.

Sometimes home craftsmen advise to independently change the diameter of the gas outlet hole on the nozzle. Do not under any circumstances do this! The smallest mistake can be fatal. If the gas stove smokes, and the above methods of correction did not help, contact the professionals!

The gas stove smokes due to a clogged nozzle or due to a violation of gas pressure.

Gas stove burner does not ignite

If one of the burners does not ignite or ignites poorly, the cause may be the following:

  • nozzle blockage - it is necessary to clean the gas supply hole with a thin wire or needle;
  • insulation failure or cracked spark plug;
  • the thermocouple is burned or the solenoid valve is broken (during electric ignition of the stove).

If none of the burners is lit, automatic ignition does not work, check the connection of the stove to the gas supply system and the mains. If the connection is in order, and the stove does not work, call the wizard.

Stove burners burn poorly, sometimes go out

  • If the flame burns weakly in all burners, although all taps are open, you should call the master to check the level of gas pressure.
  • If the intensity of the flame decreases depending on the number of burners switched on, check the condition of the connection hose. Perhaps the plate is pushed too far against the wall, the hose may be pinched.
  • If only one of the burners burns badly, clean the corresponding nozzle.

Burners burn too intensely, flame out

This problem is caused by a violation in the supply gas pressure. If the problem occurs on one burner, it is most likely that the nozzle needs to be replaced. If all burners are burning intensely, adjustment of the cylinder reducer or centralized fuel supply system is required. Anyway, The fault must be repaired by a qualified person..

The gas stove burner makes a lot of noise during operation

The problem occurs when there is an imbalance in the supply of gas and oxygen. In old-style slabs such a malfunction is eliminated by adjusting the air damper. New plates require replacement splitters.

The operation of the taps of the gas stove is disrupted

  • Faucets of old-style gas stoves may become clogged with excess grease. They can be taken apart and cleaned. In modern stoves, this malfunction does not occur.
  • If the faucets are difficult to turn, most likely grease and dust stuck to the rotary mechanisms. Remove the faucets, wash the adjustment knobs and all parts of the faucets with soapy water, dry and reinstall.
  • Sometimes turning valves is difficult due to lack of lubrication. Disassemble the faucet, clean it of dirt and old grease layer, thin layer apply a new one.
  • Faucet handles turn when turned on in case of damage rotary mechanism. After removing the faucet handle, inspect the condition seat. On the side where the tap stem enters, there should be a small metal plate. If it fell out, the diameter of the hole increased - the crane turns. You can make a new part from tin can. In some cases, it may be necessary to replace handles or taps.

When deciding to lubricate the gas stove taps, remember that you cannot use ordinary engine oil. A special, heat-resistant lubricant is required, designed specifically for gas equipment.

Gas stove burners turn off

Modern stoves are equipped with a gas supply control system. In the event of violations, the thermo-electromagnetic valve shuts off the gas, the burner turns off. Sometimes a valve failure causes an untimely shutdown.

In no case should you fix this breakdown yourself or simply turn off the gas control. It is necessary to call a specialist for Maintenance plates.

Having decided to check a faulty gas stove, remember your safety! Before disassembling the stove, disconnect it from the mains and shut off the gas supply. Do not attempt to replace or "modify" parts that you think are unsuitable. It is better to play it safe and entrust even the most minor repairs to a competent specialist than to provoke an explosion. By promptly calling the master of the Polite Service 5+ company or another service operating in your region, you will save money and time, protect yourself from low-quality repair and prolong the life of your gas stove.
