DIY snow globe. Christmas mood

Hi all! And again we will create! Today my little one and I are faced with a task - a craft snow globe with your own hands. And you know, we are already rubbing our palms with pleasure in anticipation of a miracle! And we will do this Miracle ourselves! I invite you all to be witnesses and accomplices. Let's create everything together!

What will we talk about in the article? First, I will voice some details regarding necessary tools and material. Then the subtleties of making the ball. And at the end I have prepared a master class for you. The program is extensive and designed with the help of little ones in mind! It seems that everything is so serious that there is nothing to trust them with. But I think that you and I will find something that the kids can do too! Well, let's go?!

Necessary material for making crafts

When you hold this ball in your hands, it seems that the only thing needed to make it is magic. They shook it a little, and suddenly everything crumbled into a charming snowy day. A real mystery! And really, this riddle can be done at home? Yes! Can! And it is necessary!

For this we need:

  • Jar
  • Water - 5 parts
  • Glycerin - 1 part
  • "Snow"
  • History in the plot

Will any jar work? Will any material become snow? And which story to choose? Let's answer these questions!

Jar. We need everything in the bank to be clearly visible. Therefore, plastic or a jar with any design, pattern, sticker or edges will not work.

Water. Of course, without water everything will be much easier. But our goal is for the snow to swirl and fall slowly. Therefore, water is needed. And you can’t do without her! But how can we prevent the snow from floating on the surface and settling slowly? This is why it is worth making a solution from glycerin.

Glycerol. There must be a lot of it, then the snowflakes will swirl. Ideally, the proportions of glycerin and water should be 1 to 5. Without glycerin, you can make a ball, but the snowflakes will quickly fall to the bottom. From quantity glycerin The speed of rotation of the snowflakes will depend; the more there is, the slower they will spin. Many people are interested in the question Can whether do snow ball without glycerin just on the water? We answer, no, without glycerin snowflakes will immediately fall to the bottom.

"Snow". What's suitable? Glitter, cut pieces of thin plastic or foil, artificial snow.

History in the plot. This is something worth thinking about. Firstly, what should the plot be about? It's best if it's themed. After all, the ball can be made for any occasion as a gift. You can take plants as decorations, figurines as heroes, etc. The ball with a photo inside looks original. But the photo should first be laminated or covered with tape.

You can even give it as a gift - a keychain with flying snow.

Tricks to help you make a cool snow globe

Now I will continue the topic I started. I’ll just show you how you can make a “ball” in different versions.

First of all, who said that you need pot-bellied jars? They can be of any shape and size. The main condition is that in order for the toy to look beautiful inside the jar, the container must be either slightly convex and/or must be 2-3 cm higher than the figure.

Our New Year's story assumes that there will be snow. I offered several options to choose from. But this is basically already finished products. How to make artificial snow with your own hands at home? Yes, you can cut, as I already said, plastic. But you can also grate a candle or hard soap on a fine grater. Only in one case or another the water will become cloudy very soon. There are 2 more options for making snow yourself: eggshell, which was dried and then crushed; or diaper filler. It should be taken out and moistened a little. And it is indistinguishable from natural snow.

And I will immediately answer a question that may have arisen in your mind. Is it possible to make a ball without glycerin? Easily! It is replaced with very sweet syrup or Vaseline oil. Some people take refined glycerin instead vegetable oil. Take note of this idea too.

And one more nuance. For complete sealing, you need silicone tape or thin rubber; you can use a medical glove cut into strips.

Without glue, the structure will fall apart! Find glue that is not afraid of water. And it is desirable that it hardens quickly.

The last one. The lid itself does not look presentable or elegant. It should be “disguised”. How? Ribbon, bow, paper strip.

Let's prepare a New Year's craft together

Since the holidays are approaching, my baby and I decided to make a snow globe for New Year. At first we wanted to buy figurines of holiday heroes. But we went through everything we have and found everything we needed. Therefore, they did not postpone the creative process while there was time and the right mood.

A set of materials and tools for making crafts:

  • Jar with screw cap;
  • Figurine of a frog-Santa Claus with a red hat and on skis;
  • Sprigs of Christmas tree and juniper;
  • Rain;
  • Glue "Moment";
  • Silicone tape;
  • Scissors;
  • Water;
  • Glycerol;
  • Ribbon;
  • Cork;
  • Foam;
  • Foil balls.

First of all, we make neat holes in the cork of a 5-liter water bottle, and insert plant decor into the holes.

Afterwards, when we fill the entire lid with glue, the structure will become completely stable. But even now it’s worth trying to keep the holes small and the plants to fit deeply into them.

Fill the lid with glue and install the “Santa Claus” figurine, lay out “drifts” of foil balls. And in the spaces between them we glue pieces of foam plastic.

The structure is ready. We fix it on the lid of the jar. Apply glue along the bottom of the lid. And when we put it in place, we additionally fix it with drops of glue on all sides.

Cover the side of the lid with tape.

Let's prepare the water. First fill it halfway, then add glycerin. If necessary, add more water, but remember that our structure will take up some space.

It is not always possible to completely remove air from the jar. And there is no particular need to do so.

We cut the rain into “snow” and lightly crumble the foam. This last one - my little one really liked it. I liked it so much that without him noticing, I had to catch part of his “work” and remove it from the jar, otherwise everything would have been covered in snow up to the very beginning.

Before connecting the lid and the jar, we will take care of complete sealing. Cover the thread with silicone tape.

All! The last step is to screw the lid on and turn the jar upside down! And we really like him!

The snow is spinning

And it settles.

DIY snow globe

Before the New Year, as before any holiday, the first question that arises is what to give to relatives, friends and loved ones. Preparation and an original New Year's Eve are also important. The most relevant surprises are certainly considered. We will make just such a gift in this master class. IN lately Especially popular are the so-called snow globes, which you can not only buy, but also make yourself and at home. DIY snow globe will bring a lot of pleasure to both children and adults.

"Winter in a jar." Materials and tools:

  • baked white, brown, yellow, green, black, cherry;
  • liquid polymer clay;
  • white acrylic paint;
  • glycerol;
  • hard brush;
  • foil;
  • waterproof silicone sealant;
  • epoxy glue;
  • toothpicks;
  • small scissors;
  • knife for polymer clay;
  • toothbrush;
  • universal stack;
  • small capacity;
  • glass jar with screw cap;
  • sparkles.
Stages of creation work DIY snow globe:

1. We form a ball out of foil, press it slightly onto the work surface and cover it with a jar on top to check whether it fits in it freely. It is necessary that there be a distance of about 3-4mm between the edges of the ball and the walls of the jar. If the ball fits tightly into the jar, it may not fit there after we cover it with clay. And then ours will be doomed to failure.

2. So, we have made sure that the foil ball fits freely through the neck of the jar. Now knead the white clay and make a 2mm thick cake out of it. Cover the ball with a flat cake, wrap its edges over the bottom of the ball and squeeze it well with your hands. We need the white clay to completely cover the entire foil. Now we place our snow hill on the center of the lid and cover it with a jar on top again. The hill should still fit easily into the neck of the jar.

3. Take the hill out of the jar and begin tapping its surface on all sides with a toothbrush.

4. Let's start making the house. To do this, mix white clay with brown to get a light brown color. We form the base for the house from light brown clay rectangular shape. Its size depends on the size of the house you want to make. IN in this case rectangle dimensions 2*1.5*1.5 cm. Using the edge of a knife, we make horizontal indentations on each side of the rectangle.

5. Cut off the corners from the top side of the house base with a knife.

6. Cut out the roof. To do this, roll out brown clay into a layer 0.2 cm thick and cut out a flat rectangle wide.

7. Place the brown rectangle across the edge of the knife and bend it in half.

8. We lower the roof from the knife and lay it on top of the house. We form a small pipe from a small piece of brown clay, apply it to the roof and pierce it in the center with a toothpick or a thin glass.

9. Roll out the yellow clay thinly and cut out two small squares for the windows. We stick them on the sides of the house and in front under the roof. We sculpt a small door from cherry clay and also attach it to the house.

10. Mix light brown clay with a piece of cherry to obtain red-brown clay. Roll it out into a rope 1mm thick and lay out the contours of the windows from it.

15. Mix white clay with liquid clay using your hands until it becomes sticky. Then put it in a small container and add more liquid clay, mix thoroughly with a spatula until the consistency of a thick cream.

16. Insert the fence stakes into the recesses on the hill, and stick a snowman next to it. Apply the resulting “cream” of white clay on top of the house roof to make it look like snow, spread a little on the tops of the trees and on the side branches, as well as on the tops of the fence stakes. Now bake the product in the oven according to the instructions for the clay.

17. Now let's start assembling a snow globe with our own hands. Wipe the inside of the lid and the bottom of the product with cotton wool and alcohol. Mix both ingredients epoxy resin in the required proportion (see instructions for the glue) and glue the product to the center of the lid. Leave for several hours until the glue dries completely (from 2 to 24 hours, see the instructions for hardening time).

18. Once the glue has hardened, squeeze a small amount of silicone aquarium sealant under the rim of the lid. Wait until it starts to harden a little. And it won't stick anymore.

19. Meanwhile, pour water mixed with glycerin in proportions of 1 to 1 into the jar. Do not pour the liquid to the very edge. Pour glitter or crushed foam into the jar. Cover the jar with a decorative lid, screw it tightly, turn it upside down and make sure that no water leaks out.

20. Apply white to the bottom of the jar acrylic paint using a hard brush, tapping movements to make it look like snow.

21. Now all that remains is to decorate the lid to make our DIY snow globe even more elegant. You can wrap it with beautiful ribbons or rain, glue pine cones, Christmas decorations or anything else that your imagination tells you.

On New Year's Day it is customary to give gifts to each other. Usually they give valuable things to relatives, and inexpensive but cute souvenirs to friends and acquaintances. Such a gift could well be a glass ball. It is filled with a transparent liquid, and inside it is a New Year's or winter composition. When you shake the ball, snow shoots up from below. Sometimes it magically shimmers with different lights in the light. This is a nice souvenir to give. And it’s not difficult to do it yourself.

Materials and tools for work

To work on a souvenir in the form of a glass ball with snow, you will not need many materials; if you wish, you can find everything in your home:

  • You need to select the container directly from transparent material, best rounded shape. Usually they use jars with lids or wine glasses, as in the case shown in the master class.
  • To create a seal, you can take a lid from a jar of cosmetic cream that is suitable in size.
  • Waterproof glue or silicone sealant - for attaching the composition and processing the joint between the lid and the edge of the container.
  • The figures for the composition are selected by the artist. at will and taste.
  • To imitate snow under your feet, you can use white plasticine.

Sparkles act as snowflakes flying from the sky. However, you don’t have to buy them - you can make glitter from Christmas tree rain, regular foil or candy wrappers. The bottom of the lid is also decorated with sparkles - remember how fabulously the snow shimmers under your feet on New Year's Eve?

To cut the glitter you will need scissors.

Just a note. You need to fill the container with distilled water. Experts recommend adding glycerin to the water - then the snow will settle smoothly downwards. Although the latter is not at all necessary.

Choosing figures for the composition

Usually for glass balls They use houses, Christmas trees, a toy Santa Claus, and a snowman. Such figures can be found in a box with Christmas tree decorations. Only before use should you close the hole in the toy. To do this, you can use plasticine or polymer clay.

You can also sculpt the figures yourself. Polymer clay is perfect for this. By the way, the bag with gifts in this composition was made by hand.

First, the bag itself is fashioned. Then a thin sausage tie is made. If a single-color mass is used, then after the figure dries, it is painted. Paints need to be waterproof - they will be stained glass paints or nail polish.

Someone uses miniature toys from Kinder surprises for the composition. This is also an option! Such a souvenir will be especially romantic if the figurine (even if not New Year’s) is associated with some kind of memory.

And the figurine can also be a symbol of the year, as in this proposed case, for example, a dog. True, the original poodle had a yellow circus cap. But as soon as you painted it red with nail polish, a simple figurine-toy turned into a New Year's one.

And that's how it turned out interesting composition: instead of Santa Claus - a cute poodle with a whole bag of gifts!

Let's start creating a snow globe

Step 1:

We glue our poodle to the bottom of the lid.

Step 2:

Next to it we attach a bag with glue.

This workpiece should be dried well so that no trouble occurs during assembly.

Step 3:

At this time you can prepare the glitter. This is a rather painstaking and boring task - you need to cut the foil very finely.

Step 4:

When the dog and bag are glued to the bottom of the lid, you can imitate snow with plasticine by sprinkling it with glitter.

Step 5:

Pour water into the container (with the addition of a tablespoon of glycerin, if desired), add glitter and artificial snow.

Step 6:

Cover the filled container with the lid containing the composition. Remembering Archimedes' law, it is better to perform this procedure in a bowl or over a sink, since the liquid displaced by the composition will spill out.

Step 7:

The junction of the lid and the container must be coated with glue or sealant.

Snow globe- one of the most popular Christmas souvenirs around the world. Inside the glass toy there are usually some figures - snowmen, small Christmas trees, elegant houses or other traditional characters. As soon as you shake this simple composition, a fairy tale comes to life: artificial snow or sparkles slowly swirl and gradually settle. like this interesting craft and a memorable gift can easily be made with your own hands and at home.

How to make a snow globe?

To snow globe It was bright, add sparkles, but not too small. If you are not sure about the quality of the sparkles, which may contain gold dust instead of small grains, then you can use regular tinsel, which is finely cut with ordinary scissors. You can also use artificial snow or beads.

You will also need:

  • figurine (any suitable size and that does not dissolve in water, you can even a laminated photograph or picture),
  • a beautiful jar with a well-closing lid (I used a half-liter, but you can even use jars from under baby food, the main thing is to find a figurine that is suitable in size),
  • universal glue moment,
  • liquid glycerin at least 1/3 of the volume of the jar (the amount also depends on how slowly you want the “snow” to fall; the more glycerin, the slower. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the “snow” will hang in the air all the time ),
  • water (either filtered, boiled, or distilled. If you take plain water from the tap, then over time your snow globe will become cloudy),
  • glue gun

If you decorate a jar or make a decorative stand, like me, additionally prepare:

  • satin ribbons, decorative branches, flowers, etc. for decorating a jar,
  • cardboard (but not hard),
  • scotch,
  • scissors,
  • self-adhesive film – gold,
  • PVA glue,
  • dry glitter - gold,
  • thin brush,
  • Well, and, already listed, a hot glue gun.

So let's get started!

Wash the jar, lid, figurine and all additional decorations well so that the water does not become cloudy over time. I treated everything with boiling water, as for preservation.

We fasten everything decorative elements to the lid with hot glue.

I have already used tinsel, sparkles and beads to imitate snow.

I'll tell you how to make a snow globe with sparkles, as there are some subtleties here. There are no such problems with tinsel and beads.

We take a clean jar, in my case a half-liter, and fill it with 150-250 ml of glycerin.

Fill the rest with water (we don’t fill the jar to the brim, because we still have a figure that will fit in there, which will displace a certain amount of water).

Add glitter and mix with a clean spoon.

Even if the glitter is large, there are particles that did not settle to the bottom of the jar. We must definitely collect them, otherwise they will subsequently always float on top, and this, frankly speaking, does not look very good. This can be done with a small spoon or the tip of a clean waffle towel.

Now, very carefully, preferably over a plate, we immerse our composition in the jar, twist it a little so that there are no air bubbles anywhere. Screw the lid tightly. You need to try to close it so that there are no air bubbles left in the jar. Since we didn’t glue the lid inside, it can be remade if necessary.

When the cover is screwed on, you can walk along the joint from above for insurance. universal glue(if there is one, it can be waterproof). There have never been any problems with such jars, so the glue, in principle, only serves to secure the lid so that no one accidentally opens it.

Our snow globe is ready! Let's decorate it a little to hide all traces of the lid and jar.

You can make a durable stand from several strips of cardboard and cover it with gold self-adhesive film. The diameter is equal to the diameter of the cap. We decorate with all kinds of ribbons, twigs, it all depends on your desire and imagination!

I added a little sparkle curls and used them to hide the carvings on the bottom of the jar and all sorts of unnecessary numbers. To do this, dilute 1:1 water and PVA glue, generously add dry glitter to this mixture. I painted the curls with a regular thin brush.

And here's what I got!

And with flying sparkles...

This magical gift is sure to please both children and adults. Everyone will be mesmerized by the magic hidden behind the glass. Give each other joy and these wonderful snow globes, made by yourself, in which a piece of your soul and warmth is embedded!

I was glad to help!

Hello, dear readers! We all know factory-made glass balls with liquid and a beautiful composition, which, when shaken, “activate” snowfall inside the container, but not everyone knows that a similar item can be made independently. That is why today we will tell you how to make a snow globe with your own hands, practically from scrap materials. We recommend involving children in the process of creating such a wonderful item; it will be very interesting for them to observe and perhaps even participate in its recreation.

DIY glass ball with snow.

What you will need:

  1. A small jar with a screw cap (you can specially buy a glass jar with baby puree).
  2. Nail polish.
  3. Polymer glue or Moment.
  4. White tinsel or artificial snow.
  5. Scissors.
  6. White and silver glitter.
  7. A suitable figurine is clay, ceramic or plastic (sold in any souvenir departments).
  8. Glycerin (can be bought for about 8 rubles at absolutely any pharmacy).
  9. Purified water (distilled or purified with a home water filter).

How to make a snow globe with your own hands.

Using scissors, cut the white tinsel very finely, cut as finely as possible, since even the smallest particles will visually appear large in water.

Paint the lid of the jar with a matching nail polish color. Also pay attention to the inner walls of the lid, since more often than not the product will be in an upside-down state, which means that possible unadorned places will be obvious.

After the varnish on the lid has hardened, glue the selected figure to the inside of it. We used a figurine of the Moscow Kremlin, it’s just a pity that the inscription on it is in English, but apparently in Moscow such products are purchased more often by foreign tourists than by our compatriots, since literally all the souvenirs are full of English-language engravings.

You can place Kinder Surprise figures, small figurines or small children's toys inside your snow globe. We recommend stopping by the gift shop and purchasing a tiny plastic Christmas tree or snowman. If you don’t want to look around the city for a souvenir shop, visit any hypermarket; they usually have departments with similar trinkets.

Try to select small figures. Glass with water will act as a magnifying glass, so a large composition will appear bloated and dimensionless.

Now we proceed to the next more interesting step, pour glycerin into the jar, look at the photo below to see how much we poured into a small container. The speed of rotation of snowflakes will depend on the amount of glycerin; the more of it, the slower they will spin. Many people are interested in the question: is it possible to make a snow globe without glycerin just using water? The answer is no, without glycerin the snowflakes will immediately fall to the bottom of the container, while with it they can swirl around the composition inside the jar for quite a long time.

We also pour purified water into the jar with glycerin to the top. It is important that the water is crystal clear, which is why we recommend using either distilled water or simply purified in a home filter.

Well, now we come to the most interesting moment. Pour half a teaspoon of previously chopped white tinsel or prepared artificial snow into the jar. Mix it with a teaspoon and see how our snowflakes “come to life.” Do not add a lot of snow, otherwise the composition itself will not be visible behind the snowfall.

Add 1/3 teaspoon of white and silver glitter here. Mix everything thoroughly. Here I would like to say that, in principle, you can completely skip the point with sparkles; snow alone will be enough.

We close the jar with a lid on which the figure is attached. Scroll the lid with special care so that the liquid does not start leaking out. Ideally, the lid should be treated with a layer of glue with inside, and only then tighten it.

Finally, you can decorate the neck of the jar with rhinestones, tie a ribbon with a bow, or make a spectacular stand from polymer clay. We decided to leave our snow globe with an open lid and neck; we didn’t want to burden the composition with unnecessary details.

Before you pick up your snow globe, wipe it with a napkin to remove any marks left during the creation process. Now shake our snow globe and admire the snowfall, as well as the playful shimmer of white and silver glitter.
