How to decorate the curtains beautifully

Windows play an important role in the interior of any room. They allow you to fill the room with sunlight and make it possible to enjoy the beautiful landscape that surrounds our home. But an even greater influence on the design of the room is influenced by correctly selected curtains and decorative elements. Most often, the windows are decorated with original curtains, tulle, light organza curtains that match the color and style of the overall design of the room. But sometimes, the usual type of curtains is not enough to create an original room design. In this case, they resort to independent curtain decor, using a variety of accessories for this.

Decoration options

To make a familiar curtain, for example, in the kitchen, sparkle with new colors, you can use it for decoration:

  • multicolored beads,
  • handmade fabric flowers,
  • pieces of ribbons.

We decorate the air curtain in the kitchen with miniature satin bows, pendants, beads, as shown in the photo. To create a delicate decor, large beads can be attached to the edges of the curtain.

Even if you have just purchased a new organza curtain, which does not seem smart enough to you, original hooks made of velvet, satin fabric will correct the situation. Pendants made from artificial flowers will help to transform the boring look of curtains in the kitchen. Thin satin ribbons on which flower buds are attached will add solemnity.

To decorate the curtains in the bedroom with their own hands, they use original lambrequins, hooks and fittings that match the color and style. The hooks can be made independently from pieces of organza, lace, ribbons, fringe tassels. Any decorative element on the curtains can be decorated with flowers made from the same material as the main accessories.

If the room is made in a romantic style, then the curtain can be decorated with a jabot. This is a type of lambrequin that frames the window with soft, beautiful folds.

For Roman and Greek curtains, cherry, gold, brown or beige tassels are ideal.

Hand-made beadwork, decor from fabric butterflies, lace trim contributes to the literal transformation of boring curtains. In the children's room, curtains can be decorated with images of cartoon characters made of paper or fabric, flowers.

We decorate curtains for the New Year

If for the everyday decor of organza curtains, you can use all kinds of improvised materials, then to prepare for the New Year's holidays, I want to decorate the apartment in a special way. For example, the curtains in the rooms can be decorated with a do-it-yourself herringbone pendant shown in the photo. To create it you will need:

  • thick cardboard for cutting out a template,
  • thin satin ribbon,
  • a small piece of fabric, similar in color to a satin ribbon.

First of all, we cut out two identical templates in the form of an oval with a pointed lower part from cardboard and fabric. We glue the fabric blank on the cardboard on one side, and on the other, a satin ribbon cut into stripes and formed into small loops. We decorate the top of the product with a festive bow made of a bright ribbon. We attach the finished product to the curtain with a decorative pin and a beautiful curtain for the New Year is ready.

A few more original ideas

Having shown imagination, you can achieve an amazing result in decorating curtains. One of the original decoration methods is skeletonization, which will require:

  • beautiful leaves,
  • soda 200 gr,
  • one liter of water,
  • toothbrush with soft bristles,
  • spray paint.

Having chosen the leaves with the most beautiful shape, they are dipped in a soda solution and set to cook for an hour and a half. It is very important that the leaves are free in the liquid. As soon as the composition is boiled, the leaves are spread on a flat surface and the fabric of the leaves is cleaned with a brush. Periodically, each sheet is washed with cold water. This procedure should be carried out very carefully so as not to damage the integrity of the sheet.

After the sheet is cleaned and its special structure is clearly visible, it is placed on a flat surface under the load to dry completely. At the final stage, the leaves are covered with paint, trying not to violate the integrity of the material. The result should be an openwork decoration, as in the photo, which can be attached to the curtains with decorative clamps.

In conclusion, we note that you can decorate the curtains with your own hands using different decorative elements. For example, beads, ribbons, flowers made from fabric. Lambrequins, hooks, bows are also used. To update the boring appearance of the familiar curtain, it is allowed to use any decorative techniques, in conjunction with the flight of the master's imagination.
