In a high-tech living room, you will not find rich curtains with draperies, but in an oriental or classic interior, modern blinds or Roman curtains.

What then to buy and hang? What should be the design of a window in a living room in a modern style? We will understand with illustrative examples for each style.

Modern style features

No, there will be no detailed excursion into the interior direction. But it's worth remembering the details inherent in modern style.

There is no contemporary style in the interior as a stand-alone one. This concept unites almost all areas in design that have appeared not so long ago. And often this is eclecticism, that is, a harmonious mixture of two or three styles.

For example, country and provence, art deco and minimalism, hi-tech and techno. And, of course, curtains, curtains should match both styles.

All modern trends have details that unite them:

• Simple colors: sand, gray, beige, white, black shades, milk chocolate or ivory. And if you want to add colors, you can do it using green, blue, orange, purple or red.
• Simple shapes. In modern interiors, you will not find carved legs, inlay, excessive decor.
• Free space. All furnishings fulfill their role, and often several. An ordinary table turns into a dining room, a small sofa - into a full-fledged sleeping place, etc.
• Convenience. The things in the house are only necessary. And they are regularly used by the owners. That is, there is no hot spots in the living room or any other room.
• Practicality. Caring for furniture, things, textiles does not cause trouble for the owners. The curtains on the windows are washable and may not even be ironed, the furniture is light and mobile, the finishing materials are natural, the colors are universal.
• Multilevel lighting.
• Any technique looks in a modern interior as in its place. But, if the TV will hang and not stand, then you need to think over the competent design of the wall with the TV.

Curtain style

As for the curtains in the room, they are without draperies, ruffle and often without lambrequins.

Some areas of the interior allow the use of ultra-fashionable "clothes" for windows - blinds, roller blinds made of fabric, rattan or plastic.

What kind of curtains are suitable for this or that style?

High tech

This style is just "friends" with blinds - horizontal or vertical. If the owner does not like them due to their office style, you can hang roller or roman blinds.

The color is discreet, monochromatic. If instead of blinds and roller blinds you want something more graceful and delicate on the windows, simple curtains without a pattern made of fabric with a metallic sheen (chiffon, nylon, organza) will do.

Vintage

Vintage is tenderness and naturalness in everything. This also applies to curtains. For them, you need to take natural fabrics - cotton, linen, chintz. The drawing is mostly small.

Curtains - softly falling down, without unnecessary draperies and horizontal folds.

Curtains with large eyelets or fabric ties will look good.

Light colors - beige, light green, lavender, gray-blue, tea rose, white. But the colors ... If the walls are decorated in a rich range, then the pattern on the curtains should be in muted shades. And vice versa.

Art Deco

Art Deco is both modern and deliberately expensive. This is also reflected in textiles. The curtains on the windows are sewn from expensive fabrics even to the touch - brocade, velvet, silk, linen.

If velvet is chosen, shallow draperies are acceptable.

This design of windows in the living room looks especially cozy in the rooms that face the north side of the house. In winter, such rooms are even more comfortable.

The color scheme is light, it can be black and white, so even thick velvet curtains do not weigh down the interior of the room.

Loft

A loft is an absolute space, not constrained by partitions. If we interpret it as an attic, warehouse or hangar (this is how the name is translated from English), the question arises - do these rooms have curtains at all? This means that they are not needed in a modern living room.

But the desire to hide your life from prying eyes is natural, so you can hang transparent tulle on the windows, and attach Roman or roller blinds to the frames themselves to match the color of the frame.

Tulle will cover the room in the daytime, and the curtains - in the dark (during the day they will merge with the frame).

Minimalism

This direction is consonant with high-tech. On the windows the same blinds, fabric roller blinds, roller blinds or light curtains made of fabric with a smooth structure.

The difference between these styles is in color. In the room, you can use not only white or black, but also gray, sand, coffee with milk, muted gold, light shades of green or pink, beige.

Eclecticism

This is the direction that we mentioned at the beginning of the article. And it perfectly characterizes the modern style in the interior.

For eclecticism, Provence-style curtains are suitable.

• Curtains in a delicate shade with a small pattern, typical for a country or vintage interior, are combined with high-tech furniture.
• Smooth fabric curtains are suitable for minimalism, art deco, vintage and Mediterranean style.
• Velvet curtains, which are found in art deco living rooms, will fit into minimalist or Scandinavian interiors.

Use a trick. The fabric from which the curtains are sewn should be repeated in other textile elements of the room, be it the upholstery of a sofa, the upholstery of a frameless chair, a hammock or pillow cases for decorative pillows.

Sea style

Let's combine under one definition two stylistic directions of the premises: Scandinavian and Mediterranean.

Their common features are similar: spaciousness, natural materials, a lot of light. Unless the Scandinavians are trying to choose shades from a warm range due to the lack of sunlight. And the inhabitants of the Adriatic and neighboring countries opt for a cool spectrum of tones. And this also shows up in the window textiles.

• For a Scandinavian interior, coffee colors, pinkish, beige, light yellow, golden are suitable. Try not to use dark colors - this style is not typical
• For the Mediterranean - white, blue, violet, pistachio, olive. They will visually cool the room.

• roller blinds. Typical for Mediterranean interiors, as they shade from the rays of the scorching sun;
