How to decorate a boy's room with curtains: a selection of ideas

Taking care of their child, parents want to equip his room as beautifully, cozy and comfortable as possible. But how to do this if the growing man's tastes and fashion trends are rapidly changing?

What is relevant for a one-year-old child will become irrelevant after a few years. Let's look at the universal options for textile window decoration in the boy's room.

Setting the tone

The first thing that parents want to do when a boy is born is to decorate his room in blue tones. No less popular is the use of fabrics depicting cartoon characters, or fairy tales... But both of these options are not universal.

After some time, the window decor will have to be changed, since it will not correspond to the boy's age, or his interests. Therefore, before choosing curtains for the nursery, you should think about how often you are ready to change them.

A universal option for window decoration for a boy's room is the use of simple fabrics. They can be plain or with an unpretentious print (striped, checked, polka dots, with a plant motif). Such canvases will be relevant even after changing the wall decoration and will last until the boy reaches adolescence.

Note: the advantage of plain fabrics is also that they can always be supplemented with draperies, decorated with a border, appliqués. At the same time, change the design of the product, the interior of the room.

There are always a lot of bright toys in the child's room, so the window can be curtained with curtains of neutral, pastel shades, which will give the atmosphere some orderliness. Curtains that combine bright and muted colors will create a warm, cozy atmosphere. The optimal color combination is blue + yellow + green.

We select the fabric

Not only the color of the curtains matters, but also the quality of the material from which they are sewn. To decorate a child's room, you should give preference to natural, hypoallergenic fabrics.

Please note: the linens must be strong enough to withstand experiments, boy's games, and also lend themselves well to washing and cleaning.

Based on the above characteristics, curtains from:

  • Muslin;
  • Brocade;
  • Tapestry;
  • Flax;
  • Cotton;
  • Bamboo fibers.

These materials are strong, do not fade in the sun, can be washed repeatedly, do not lose their presentable appearance even after several years of use.

You should not decorate the windows in the boy's room with curtains made of tweed, woolen, fabric, velvet, corduroy, plaid, cloth, plush. Although these materials are soft and pleasant to the touch, they accumulate dust on themselves and require careful maintenance. You should not decorate the window in the nursery with silk curtains - they are very delicate.

Please note: the fabric for sewing curtains in the boy's room should not be of poor quality, otherwise it will quickly become unusable. You should not buy too expensive materials - the child can paint them with felt-tip pens, or cut them with scissors.

Room light correction

The baby needs air and sunlight, as well as adequate shading while sleeping. Therefore, the window frame should harmoniously combine these opposite functions. If the room is located on the south side, in the morning there will be an excess of sunlight in it. To protect the child from him, thick dark curtains will allow.

Advice: to avoid burning out the material in the sun, it is better to sew the curtains with a lining.

The nursery, located on the north side, on the contrary, suffers from a lack of sunlight. The window in this room should not be decorated with dense and heavy fabrics - you should give preference to light, light canvases that let the sun's rays through well.

A practical and functional option for decorating a window in a nursery will be the use of day-night curtains. They alternate strips of fabric of different density, which, when displaced, create the necessary level of illumination in the room. Such canvases are used in roll models, fabric blinds.

Tip: if the curtains in the nursery look too formal, they can be supplemented with sliding canvases, which will add extra comfort to the room.

Determining the model and length of curtains

When choosing curtains for a nursery, there is a problem with determining their length. Long curtains look elegant, but are not practical, short ones create visual volume, but they look rustic. Which option should you choose?

If the product is selected in the room of an active boy who intensively learns the world around him, then you should give preference to short canvases. Their advantages:

Of the short curtains for textile decoration of the boy's room, you can use:

  • Roll;
  • Roman;
  • English;
  • Sliding.

Note: curtains, consisting of canvases of different lengths, asymmetric, and also arched, look interesting.

We take into account the nuances

To minimize the risk of various injuries in the child, the window frame should be as reliable as possible. For this, the curtains must be well attached to the cornice, and the bar itself must be attached to the wall. You should also avoid using small decor, especially metal holders, heavy accessories.

The window frame model for the boy's room should be as simple as possible. Various folds, draperies, flounces not only accumulate dust on themselves, but are also more difficult to use and maintain than ordinary curtains. You can complement the curtains in the nursery with a direct lambrequin - it will add coziness to the room, and will not create additional inconveniences.
