English is the most popular of the four languages ​​taken as part of the Unified State Exam. The current test is almost no different from testing in 2015, with the exception of some improvements in the wording of the oral part task and the fact that the passing score for the entire exam has increased to 22 points compared to last year’s 20. Passing English is no more difficult or easier than German, French or Spanish . Listening Comprehension

In the first block (30 minutes), the student completes 3 tasks. The examiners turn on the recording and do not stop it until the very end, but there are pauses between fragments to read the tasks and transfer the answers to the form. For each correct answer in this and other parts of the exam, the student receives 1 point.

• The first task is to listen to 6 statements and correlate them with statements, one of which is redundant, that is, you will need to identify correspondences between the main ideas and audio fragments.
• In the second exercise, dialogue and remarks are given - it is necessary to determine which statements are false (false) and which are true (true), in addition, identify which statements were not stated in the text (not stated).

Adviсe: try not to spend more than 10 minutes on one task; delve into the meaning of the text (look for keywords); learn/repeat how complex sentences are constructed; in the third task, the questions after the text are arranged in the order in which the answers to them are given in the text. Vocabulary & Grammar

70% of tasks (No. 19-31) are aimed at knowledge of word formation and the school curriculum on English grammar. In the last seven (No. 32-38) exercises, you need to make a choice in favor of one of the four proposed answers, taking into account the context and the desired grammatical form. You are given 40 minutes to do everything.

• First, a text with 7 missing words is given. To the right of it there are words that require grammatical transformation (put in right time verb, for example) and insertions. Max. number of points: 7.
• In the second task there is a text with 6 gaps. Again, you will need to grammatically transform (form a single-root word that matches the text in meaning) and insert the words into the text. Max. number of points: 6.
• Again, a text with 7 gaps, you need to choose 1 correct option out of 4 proposed. Max. number of points: 7.

Adviсe: allocate no more than 12 minutes for all tasks (except for the second - there are 15); read the context; repeat: tenses and forms of verbs, voices (active and passive), comparative and superlative degree adjectives, ordinal numbers, formation of suffixes and prefixes in English.

Written part (Writing)

In the fourth block there are only 2 tasks (but what kind!), for which you are given 80 minutes (for them you need to have time to write and check your work).

• First, an informal letter to a friend (about 100-140 words). The text of a short letter from this same “friend” is given, after which there are questions. You need to read the text with questions and write an answer (that is, answer your friend’s questions and ask your own). Max. number of points: 6.
• Secondly, an essay on a given topic (about 200-250 words). In this section, a statement is given (usually quite controversial), and the student writes an essay on this topic, expressing his opinion, demonstrating the studied vocabulary, knowledge of grammatical rules, the structure of various written works, and, finally, the ability to describe and argue his point of view in writing . We need to do it in 80 minutes. Max. number of points: 14.

Speaking

The oral part of the Unified State Exam in English is not mandatory, but speaking is necessary to get the highest possible score. This block is the shortest and takes only 15 minutes. It consists of four tasks for which you can get a total of 20 points: reading an English text aloud, asking questions about an advertisement using keywords; description of the picture/photo; comparative analysis of two proposed photographs, guided by a given plan.
