Children at different ages have different requirements for curtains - babies love to pull hanging fabric, kids hide behind it or use it in the construction of forts, and teenage boys have enough dense blackouts so that nothing prevents them from sleeping even during the day ... We, parents, we want the curtains to be easily washed, do not collect dust, fit into the budget and the interior.

1. Choose curtains that will "echo" with interior details

In choosing the design and color of the fabric, it is easiest to focus on wallpaper, furniture and / or textiles available in the room (bedspreads,).

... thick blackout curtains in pastel colors so that nothing interferes with the observance of the sleep regimen.

Keep in mind that if you want to hang long curtains or curtains with an adjustable cord, then the crib and play area should be located away from the window.

3. For a boy from 3 to 12 years old, it is better to choose ...

... curtains of bright, but not flashy color with an interesting pattern. Indeed, in this most curious period in the life of a child, when he is just beginning to learn about the world around him, the decor of the room should contribute to this.

Fabrics can decorate:

• Funny and funny pictures - for example, animals, robots, dinosaurs, colored cars and other images that boys always like.
• Simple but interesting stories that are nice to look at before going to bed.
• Prints that reflect the interests of the baby - for example, if he likes airplanes or some movie character, then let the curtains reflect this.

4. For a teenage boy over 12 years old, it is better to choose…

In adolescence, boys will like blackout curtains, as well as thick or coarse fabrics like linen. In terms of design and color, young people who are growing up will most likely like classic and strict models - plain or with a completely adult pattern. Contrasting combinations, dark and deep colors, tartan checks, stripes, large stars, prints like the British flag - these are ideas that you can offer to the owner of the room.

5. When choosing the color of the fabric, consider the degree of illumination of the nursery

For poorly lit and "northern" children's bedrooms, it is better to choose curtains in warm and light colors: white, yellow, beige, orange. These colors will create the illusion of sunlight in the room and make it more cheerful.

If the windows of the room face south and the room is most often well lit, then fabrics in cold colors will look more advantageous: blue, gray, turquoise. However, in a bright room, curtains of any color, even dark ones, will be appropriate.

6. For a small nursery, light curtains with a small pattern are preferable.

Dark or too bright fabrics with a large pattern will visually reduce the space. But light ones with a small and unobtrusive pattern will not “eat up” either daylight or the footage of a small room.

• Vertical striped curtains will help lift low ceilings, while hanging them as high as possible is better.

7. The most versatile curtain colors: white, beige and light gray

These shades look good in a nursery of any color scheme and style. They are especially good if:

• The interior of the room is decorated very colorful or elegant, then plain curtains of a neutral color will balance too “active” wallpaper, carpet, decor and toys.
• If you want to design a nursery "for growth", for example, with the expectation of an approaching adolescence.

8. Choose easy-care fabrics

• In order for the curtains to be easily washed, do not fade in the sun and do not shrink, you should give preference to products made from mixed fabrics.
• If you want to choose completely natural fabrics (from linen, cotton, chintz, etc.), then keep in mind that after washing they will “sit down” and decrease by 10-20 cm. Take this into account when calculating the length and width of the curtains.
• Lightweight fabrics are much easier to wash and iron.

9. Avoid heavy curtain rods

Remember that heavy rods with massive or sharp tips pose a potential danger to the child. Ideally, curtains should be hung on a plastic ceiling cornice or a small diameter metal rod. However, the main thing is to choose reliable brackets and fix them well.

10. The most practical curtains are short.

Roman, roller, cafe curtains, short curtains will be more convenient for the child to use, and for you - in the wash. Complex combinations of several fabrics, with draperies and pelmets will collect dust and make cleaning difficult.
