How to machine wash curtains?

The process of washing curtains in an automatic washing machine is quite simple. The main thing is to follow the recommendations for caring for this type of fabric. If you bought new curtains, they usually have a tag on them, which contains information on which mode to wash the curtains.

Important! In most cases, a delicate mode is used for washing and the temperature is not higher than 30-40 degrees.

Using a machine is the best option for washing large curtains, as it is difficult and tedious to do it by hand. Follow these steps:

1. Remove the curtains.
2. Shake off the dust from them.
3. Soak in clean, cool or lukewarm water.
4. Add some 1 tablespoon table salt. for 1 liter of water.
5. Leave it on for a while.
6. Change the water and soak again.
7. Load the curtains into the washing machine drum so that it is no more than half full.
8. Add powder for colored fabrics.
9. Add fabric softener to the appropriate compartment.
10. Set the mode, washing time and required temperature.
11. When choosing the "Spin" option, specify the minimum number of revolutions.
12. Start the car.
13. Remove the curtains at the end of the wash.
14. Hang and dry in a shaded area.

Important! If the curtains are heavy and thick, wash them separately.

The powder can be replaced with liquid gel for washing or special capsules (“Tide”, “Ariel”, “Persil”), which are placed directly into the drum. If the dirt is heavy, use the prewash mode to start, then turn on the main wash.

How to wash roller blinds?

Recently, more and more often, owners of apartments with a modern design are choosing comfortable and practical roller blinds for their homes, they are also fabric roller shutters. Such curtains have a number of advantages over conventional curtains, in particular:

1. They regulate the luminous flux: depending on the type of fabric - from soft diffusion to complete dimming (black-out).
2. Protect your home furnishings from burning out in the sun.
3. The air gap between the roller shutter and the glass protects from the cold in winter and keeps it cool in summer.
4. All fabrics are anti-static and dust-repellent.
5. Do not require very frequent maintenance.
6. They can be used instead of regular tulle and can be combined with curtains.

Important! It is not recommended to wash roller blinds in the traditional way due to their special design. The fabric of these curtains is impregnated with a special compound that protects the material from stretching and burning out. In any case, when buying, consult with a specialist regarding the rules of caring for them. One thing is certain: do not machine wash roller shutters - this cleaning method will only harm these delicate fabrics.

Roller blinds care should include several stages:

• cleaning from dust - often ventilate them;
• “Dry wash” - at least once a month vacuum the roller shutters using a soft nozzle, on which it is advisable to put on a cloth cover so as not to damage the surface;
• removal of complex contaminants;
• lubrication of the roller blinds mechanism with a special aerosol.

Use the following methods to remove stains and dirt from curtains:

Method 1

To remove common dirt:

1. Pour 3-4 liters of warm water into a bowl.
2. Dilute 2 tablespoons in it. washing powder.
3. Stir.
4. Moisten a sponge with the solution.
5. Gently, in a circular motion, wipe the curtains with a sponge.
6. Take a clean sponge.
7. Moisten with water.
8. Rinse the foam off the surface.
9. Repeat 2-3 times.
10. Dry the roller shutters flat.

Important! Be sure to thoroughly remove any residual detergent, otherwise it may fade or stain if exposed to sunlight.

If necessary, after washing, gently iron the curtains with the tip of an iron, taking care not to touch the seams, but if there is a need to straighten them, do it through cheesecloth or a damp cloth.

Method 2

For tough greasy stains:

1. Pour warm water into a bowl.
2. Add a natural liquid stain remover (follow the manufacturer's instructions).
3. Apply to a sponge.
4. Wipe the stains gently.
5. Use a damp, clean sponge to carefully remove any residues from the surface.
6. Repeat 2-3 times.
7. Dry the fabric.

Roman blinds are beautiful, compact and will undoubtedly decorate any interior. However, their unusual shape requires strict care rules:

1. Only fabric curtains can be washed.
2. Manufacturers recommend a manual wash cycle. The water temperature should not exceed 30 degrees.
3. Before washing, curtains should be soaked for 1 hour in warm water with Ph-neutral powder without bleach.
4. Use a natural stain remover to remove stains.
5. Using an automatic machine is highly undesirable: this can lead to tangled threads and deformation of the fabric.
6. Products made from natural fibers - bamboo or rope must not be washed. Moisture is contraindicated for them, since mold can form in the fibers.
7. The roller shutters are vacuum cleaned with a soft dry brush wrapped in a cloth cover.
8. Before washing the curtains, remove the strips (wood, metal or plastic) between the strips of fabric.

How to wash organza curtains?

Organza is a very delicate fabric, so products made from it are washed by hand or in a machine, with a neutral powder, using a delicate mode and a temperature not higher than 30-40 degrees. In this case, it is strictly forbidden to squeeze or twist the organza.

Unfortunately, over time, curtains made of light-colored fabric can lose their original appearance and acquire a yellowish tint. There are a couple of ways you can whiten them.

Option 1

Use regular table salt:

1. Pour 5 liters of warm water into a bowl.
2. Dissolve 2 tsp in it. salt.
3. Soak the tulle.
4. Leave it on for 30 minutes or 1 hour.
5. Wash - by hand or machine.
6. Do not wring out.
7. Dry in an upright position.

Important! Products made of white organza can be dipped in a starch solution after washing. The material will become snow-white and will keep its shape perfectly.

Option 2

Apply ammonia and peroxide:

1. Pour 5-6 liters of warm water into a bowl.
2. Add 1 tablespoon to it. ammonia.
3. Pour 2 tablespoons into the water. hydrogen peroxide.
4. Soak your organza curtains.
5. Wash with a mild powder.
6. Do not twist.
7. Dry by hanging gently in a shaded area or directly on the eaves.

Important! Remember that bleaching is only suitable for white fabrics. Never use this method for colored organza products, otherwise ammonia in combination with peroxide can change the color of your favorite curtains, if, for example, they are green.

How to wash curtains?

Kitchen curtains are the easiest to clean. If these curtains are made of cotton or synthetic fabrics, they can be washed very often without fear of unpleasant consequences. In order for these elements of the kitchen interior to always delight you with a clean and tidy look, use the following tips:

1. Soak curtains in cold salted water overnight.
2. Also add some salt to the powder during washing.
3. Wash by hand in warm water or using an automatic machine at 40 degrees, “cotton” or “synthetic” mode, depending on the type of fabric.
4. For very dirty cotton curtains, a temperature of 60 degrees is allowed, but there is a possibility that they can shed.
5. If you wash by hand, rinse the curtains first in warm water and then at least 2 times in cold water.
6. After washing with salt, rinse the chintz curtains in cold water with the addition of vinegar.
7. For light colored curtains, add a little blue to the water at the last rinse.
8. Dip the cream-colored curtains in warm water with the addition of tea leaves for 10 minutes, then rinse as usual.

• Make sure the curtains are washable: be sure to check the manufacturer's label for material, temperature, etc. Only dry cleaning is recommended for some fabrics.
• If washing is not prohibited, use a low water temperature and a delicate cycle. Do not use hot water - the curtains may deform and lose their color.
• Washing powder should not contain bleach.
• Do not overload the washing machine: the drum must be about half full, otherwise your curtains will not wash well and will look pretty wrinkled.
• Dry curtains and tulle upright, folded in 2 or 3 layers.
• If you dry your curtains outdoors, do it in the shade - keep them out of direct sunlight.

• Wet tulle (organza) can be immediately hung in place - the thin fabric will dry right on the eaves.
