How to remove gray from tulle

White has different shades, but not all of them are pleasing to the eye when it comes to tulle curtains.

When buying snow-white curtains, we want them to be like that forever. However, over time, the curtains acquire an annoying grayish color, which you want to get rid of as soon as possible. It is not necessary to use the services of dry cleaning specialists for this.

If you know how to wash tulle at home, you can forget about the unpleasant impressions of the gray shade. A variety of products are used for whitening.

For many women, it is no coincidence that laundry soap has become a favorite and a real lifesaver. They also use it when washing gray tulle curtains. Only in this case you need not a bar of soap, but soap shavings. First we dilute the grated bar of soap in a little hot water. It is necessary to stir so that the soap shavings dissolve completely. To speed up the process, you can warm up the soap, in which case it is diluted in a saucepan.

Pour the resulting mixture into a bowl with warm water, mix until smooth. The solution is now ready to soak the tulle curtains. They are left in a soapy solution for at least 5 hours, then you need to rinse them thoroughly. Whitening is over!

Zelenka

Do you think that brilliant green solution traditionally colors everything green? This is not always the case! It can be used to rid the tulle of the gray at home. You just need to properly dilute the brilliant green. We need water at room temperature. Zelenka (10 drops) is first thoroughly diluted in a glass of water.

Stir it well, note that the medicine may settle on the bottom of the glass. Stir two or three times to smooth the solution without sediment.

After that, mix the diluted brilliant greens with water (5-6 liters) and mix the water thoroughly again. Now we immerse curtains that have already been soaked in water with brilliant green to rid them of dust and dirt. The material should be completely submerged in water, and it should be carefully turned over. We do not leave the fabric in water for a long time, the soaking time is only 2-3 minutes. Then we take it out just as gently, shake it and hang it to dry.

It is not necessary to rinse after soaking in water with brilliant green! Your curtains will still dry, and you will already notice how white they are again!

Potassium permanganate solution

Potassium permanganate is also able, by coloring the water, to return the whiteness to the curtains. To bleach old tulle at home, we dilute manganese. We start with a small container, add a few grains of the substance to a cup or glass of water. Stir to completely dissolve, otherwise even the smallest particle of undissolved manganese will leave stains on the tulle instead of bleaching it.

After the manganese dissolves, add a little concentrated solution to a bowl of hot water.

Watch how the color of the water changes: we do not need a saturated, but a pinkish shade.

In the same container, you must also add washing powder or liquid detergent (1 glass). After stirring again, you can lower the curtains that have been washed in there. We leave them in a prepared solution of manganese and washing powder until the water cools down. The whitening procedure is completed by rinsing and drying the tulle.

Soda

If you are thinking about how to remove the gray from the tulle, use this method. Mix equal amounts of baking soda and washing powder. Dilute in warm water, using enough water to soak the tulle. We carry out soaking for 2 hours. At the end of the process, proceed to machine wash. Place the tulle in the drum of the washing machine (no rinsing!). There, on the curtains, we load a mixture of soda and powder, which remains after soaking in a basin. We wash in a “delicate” mode. Soda and powder will do their job - there will be no grayness on the curtains.

Lemon acid

Citric acid copes well with a grayish tint. However, its effect begins after the curtain is treated with laundry soap. After lathering the curtain, put it in a bowl of hot water and leave it for 30 minutes. After that, we proceed to rinsing. Pouring warm water into a basin, dissolve citric acid in it (1 packet). Stir the acid grains in water and rinse the tulle in it.

If citric acid is not at hand, pour vinegar (3 tablespoons) into warm water for rinsing. You will notice that the tulle is whiter. If necessary, repeat the procedure, and each wash will make the fabric whiter than ever.

Salt

One of the most affordable materials that you can use to bleach tulle is salt. Dissolve 3-5 tablespoons of salt in water, and then leave the tulle to soak there. Salt can make the curtains white in 12 hours.

As you can see, the most ordinary substances and simple actions will be required for the tulle to become dazzling white again!
