It is highly undesirable for the Ruler of the Fifth House to be combust or retrograde. Retrograde is always an accidental drawback for a planet, but I liked how the famous astrologer Konstantin Daragan explained the meaning of retrograde precisely in the context of the Fifth House. Retrograde is known to be associated with returns. The root "retro" itself means "back" in Latin.
