DIY watch storage box. Why do you need a watch winding box? Video: corrugated cardboard craft box

After promotions and sales, I have accumulated 10 hours that are in active rotation. They were everywhere on the shelves and on the table. It's time to think about a way to store them in an orderly manner.
Since the range of goods in the Chinabay store is extremely dull, I decided to take a box/case for 10 seats, as a uniquely necessary and useful thing for me.
For those people who are too lazy to read, I will immediately give a verdict: the execution and materials are extremely low-cost, but the box fulfills its function.

First I chose a box that looked like it was made of aluminum. The store has started processing the order. During this time, I found a review of this product, read it and was upset. It was made of cardboard and covered with foil. But the store had some problems with the bank and canceled all orders placed before the Chinese New Year. After the holidays, I wanted to order the box again, but the “metal” model disappeared from the range and I had to take a slightly more expensive option, but I no longer had any illusions about the quality of the ordered product.
Delivery was carried out by China Post and the parcel arrived relatively quickly. About 20 days. Packed well. A postal bag, several layers of bubble wrap and a piece of double-layer cardboard opposite the transparent window. And the box itself was still in a bubble wrap bag from the manufacturer. But all this did not save the box from injury (fracture), so if you buy it somewhere, ask to be sent in a strong postal box.
Here is our box.
Her sizes are as follows. Length 265 mm, width 202 mm, height 75 mm.

The transparent window is not made of glass, but of a thick film resembling celluloid.
What I didn’t like is that the film strongly attracts dust.

The outside of the box itself is trimmed with black leatherette with stitching with thick white thread. Along the edges of the window, there is a little lining giving it a “puffy” look.

The side walls are decorated with the same stitching, but are simply rigid, without lining.

The top cover is attached without hinges. It just hangs on a layer of leatherette and fabric, and it’s not at all pleasing.

The case closes on metal lock without a key, reminiscent of a suitcase.

It is fixed with a spring-loaded ball.

The bottom of the box looks quite dull, again reminding me of Soviet suitcases. However, no one sees him anyway.

Open the box.

And we “admire” the fracture on the left side of the frame.

This is what it looks like interior decoration- partitions and 10 watch pads.

We take out the pads.

The dimensions are as follows: length 76 mm, width 42 mm, thickness 34 mm.
Covered with soft fleecy material, similar to toilet paper;)

And with reverse side They don't look neat. There are folds and traces of glue.

This is what the partitions in the box look like.

And here it is separately. Again the same fibrous material and sloppy manufacturing.

Inside they are made of material reminiscent of Chinese suspended ceilings. It is loose, soft and fragile.

Bottom of the box.

More jambs in the corners.

It's time to load the watch into storage.
Let's collect them in a bunch.

We begin to pull on the pads. And here’s the ambush, my wrist circumference is 19 cm and the bracelet is fastened to the pillow very tightly. Those with thinner hands will not be able to fasten the bracelet. It will have to be placed in a free state.

The 43mm case diameter of the watch fits well with the cushion size.

Now let's try to place the watch on a silicone strap.

It's a little easier now.

Case diameter 42 mm.

The work is finished. All 10 hours on cushions and in box.

It was not easy to tighten the straps on the cushions, so now you won't want to wear a new watch every day. The box is more of a long-term storage that saves the watch from dust and fading than a case from which you can quickly take the watch out and move on.
Close the lid.

That's all, order is restored. Now the watch will not be lying around anywhere.
Let's sum it up results.
The box is made extremely obscenely. Although this is a common occurrence for this price category. It would be a shame to give this to someone. But if you buy it somewhere cheaper, then it will cope with its main function - storing watches.
Thank you for your attention.

A watch box is perhaps the only item in the house that will be useful for the whole family.

I'm thinking about purchasing a smart watch soon New Year which means online stores will soon offer big discounts on goods New Year's holidays, in the meantime, I need to look for a box in which I will store these and other watches together. A quick search on the Internet showed that the boxes are simple and high-tech and made of expensive wood and leather, and they cost a lot of money.

A quick search in China stores revealed various shapes and types of boxes, at a price that is acceptable to me and with quality workmanship. My gaze fell on a simple box, where you can store 10 wristwatch, I certainly won’t be able to collect that many clocks in the house if I take them out side wall This compartment can be used to store bracelets and other large jewelry.

The box arrived wrapped in three layers of bubble wrap and wrapped in yellow tape, everything inside was intact, the corner was slightly dented from the impact, but it was almost unnoticeable.

Specifications

Number of slots: 10
Number of pillows: 10
Box size: 25.5cm x 20cm x 8cm
Material: artificial leather - velvet
Suitable for storing jewelry.

The whole box looks beautiful in a simple style, covered with artificial leather, stitched with white threads, and a window made of thick polyethylene on top through which you can see what lies inside.

Inside the box is divided into 10 cells by partitions, each containing a watch pillow of 10 pieces.
The entire internal case is covered with velvet, when first unpacking there was a lot of dust from the velvet inside, I cleaned it with a vacuum cleaner. The entire box is made of thick cardboard of varying thicknesses, everything was glued together neatly, there were no traces of glue.

The lock is made of metal, closes and opens with a light finger pressure, and is screwed to the body with screws.

Now about how the watch lies inside the box, the watch itself can be fixed on the pillow itself by fastening the watch strap on it, placing the watch in the cell and closing the lid, there is about 2 cm left to the window, so the box is suitable for large and wide watches.

The whole body was glued well, the only criticism was the place where the joints were glued at the pillows, apparently they were not pressed well after the glue was applied, I glued all the joints and pressed them for 20 minutes with a box.
Since the box has no canopies, its role is played by artificial leather on the back wall, this weak point box, which I corrected a little, in the place of the bend I pasted electrical tape that matched the color and texture.

Conclusions and impressions

There were already reviews about this box, after reading them I decided to order this box, but on another site, as you can see, the box arrived exactly the same as in other reviews.
Of course, you can make the box yourself, but I still couldn’t do it so carefully, so I bought it. I recommend this box to everyone, as it is not expensive and looks attractive in a simple style, suitable for both dark and light hours, you can use the box to store large jewelry.
The only thing this box lacks is the presence of a lock with a code or key, but here the price will be higher.

If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer them, ask!

The answer to this question is most likely known by the person who collects it. mechanical watch which already includes several products. Let's not forget that average term The operating life of most mechanical watches is 30 - 40 hours. If you didn’t manage to wind your Oris or Maurice Lacroix in time, the watch stopped. A newcomer to the world of watches may think that this is no big deal, but advanced watch owners already know how this can turn out. So let’s begin to understand why the owner of a mechanical watch cannot do without a winding box.

The winding box helps to avoid harmful stops of the mechanism. Mechanical watches must be re-set after each stop caused by the fact that the owner, for some reason, was unable to wind his watch on time. Mechanical watches are often equipped with various complications, which increases energy consumption. Precisely adjusting the entire mechanism for the coordinated operation of all its components is not so simple - a person who deviates even the slightest step from the instructions risks reaping the bitter fruits of a damaged mechanism. More often than others, those who forget to wind one of their watches are precisely those people whose collection size has already exceeded the boundaries of owning two or three watches at a time, but they have not yet acquired a useful winding box.

First of all, winding box provides proper care behind a very fastidious clock mechanism of several watches installed in it at the same time. Mechanical watches are known for their capriciousness, but this is forgiven for their undeniable advantages. The operation of a mechanical watch must continue constantly, otherwise the lubricant of the mechanism parts will thicken. This will lead to a significant increase in loads on the mechanism with each new start, which will negatively affect the accuracy and overall durability of the watch. A watch winding box works to ensure that the watches stored in it are always wound on time, and their mechanism remains safe and sound.

Of course, a watch winding box does not rotate continuously. If a watch winding box were to be operated continuously, the watch mechanism would be subject to excessive stress on the unfolding spring due to the high torque levels. In this case, the lubricant of the mechanism would be consumed too quickly and the parts would quickly become unusable. The golden mean and the true savior of the situation in in this case became a microprocessor.

It is the microprocessor that allows the watch winding box not just to work, but to actually live according to its own schedule, very reminiscent of human life. Thanks to the microprocessor, the winding box operates in wake mode and sleep mode. In wake mode, most watches start at rotation both counterclockwise and clockwise. Rare models can be placed in a box with a necessarily configured rotation mode clockwise only. A watch that winds in a box only when rotated counterclockwise, are even less common. You can find out about all these cases in advance from the instructions for the watch supplied by the manufacturer. If the instructions do not contain specific information, then Be sure to check this information with the manufacturer.

The list of settings for any watch winding box is extremely extensive and can be completely changed by the owner in accordance with technical requirements certain hours. You choose the mode yourself - whether the rotation will occur clockwise or counterclockwise. You yourself choose the number of revolutions per minute, because it is this indicator that affects the number of oscillations of the watch rotor per day, which prevents the watch from stopping. When choosing a box, we recommend checking with what intensity the self-winding module rotates: the rotation range may vary from 600 to 3600 revolutions per day.

The box's smart microprocessors will interrupt its operation for rest whenever necessary. Naturally, this depends on the selected settings, set according to the instructions included with the watch. Many boxes are initially programmed to rotate the clock clockwise, counterclockwise, or alternately different directions, periodically stop “to rest”, and then repeat these steps again.

All modern watch winding boxes are powered by mains electricity or batteries. The more expensive the box, the more skillfully made the motor is at the basis of its rotation mechanism. And the more skillful the engine and the higher the culture of its production, the lower the noise from the operation of the box. All examples of winding boxes above average are equipped with a motor so quiet that they can be installed in a bedroom or study and will not interfere with either rest or work. Some ultra-quiet motors have noise level no more than 5 dB.

A watch winding box serves the watch as if its owner was cared for by the staff of a good five-star hotel. Well, what person striving for progress would not be happy about this?
