To make a decorative balloon we will need: thick paper, thin tissue paper, twine, glue, threads, as well as a triangle, a long ruler, scissors, glue brushes and a pencil.

The amount of materials depends on the size of the ball:

In order to make a ball with a diameter of 2 meters, you will need 16 strips of paper.

To begin with, draw a pattern on thick paper or cardboard, according to the diagram presented above. One template will be enough;
Blanks for the segments are made from tissue paper, which, if there is not enough size, can be glued together;
While the segments are being glued together, we cut out blanks from cardboard;
We apply the cardboard template to tissue paper and cut out 16 segments, taking into account gluing allowances of one centimeter in size;
First we glue the cut out segments in pairs, forming “boats”, then we glue the “boats” together, except for the last seam;
We turn the shell inside out and only then glue the last seam;
Next, you need to fasten the base of the ball with two rectangular strips of thick paper, under which you need to glue strings that will hold the ball when heated;
A circle made of the same material as the dome itself is glued to the top of the dome, so that there are no gaps;
After drying, the dome is straightened by heating with a blowtorch;
We make a fire and hold the ball over it by the strings.

When the air in the balloon is sufficiently hot, the balloon is ready to launch. Admire it.

DIY balloon with basket: dome

If you decide to design your own hot air balloon, the first thing you should do is the canopy. For it you need to purchase durable nylon - polyester or polyamide. It is important that the material does not allow air to pass through - cover the reverse side of the fabric with liquid polyurethane or silicone.

The next step is to cut the nylon into segments of the required size, which are sewn together with especially strong threads. The hole for inflating a balloon with a basket is lined with a protective layer of material that is resistant to high temperatures.

To make the dome more durable, it is additionally sheathed vertically and horizontally with fabric strips. They are fixed at the very top of the dome, and the lower edges of the tapes are attached to the ropes of the hanging basket.

How to make a balloon: basket

Traditionally, the walls of the basket are woven from grapevine, and the bottom is made of so-called marine plywood, which is resistant to temperature changes and other extreme conditions. The frame is steel cables made of stainless material. They secure the basket to the dome. The cables are covered with special leather covers to protect them from damage.

It is also necessary to design special hangers where luggage and aeronautics accessories will be stored.

Important element: burner

Before making a balloon, you need to carefully consider the design of the burner. Its fuel currently is liquefied propane. The average power of the device is 4.5-6.0 thousand megawatts. You should purchase special burners for balloons, which are made of durable stainless steel using a special technology that allows the device to withstand large temperature changes.

Your own balloon: instructions

It is, of course, difficult to make a passenger balloon at home, but making a test paper balloon with a basket with your own hands is quite possible. You will need:

thick paper;
thin paper (so-called tissue paper);
glue;
threads;
leg-split;
scissors;
pencil;
long ruler;
triangle.

Now let's get to work:

The number and size of the cut strips will depend on the diameter of your ball. If it is 1.5 m, then 12 strips will be needed, 2 m - 16, 2.5 m - 20, 3 m - 24.
To draw an even template, first draw a vertical line on the paper equal to the length of the future strip. Through it, draw perpendicular segments at a certain distance equal to the limits of the width of the segment. The end points of the segments are connected by a smooth line, which will be the outline of the strip.
Using the cardboard template, trace and cut out the outlines of the segments on tissue paper. The most convenient way is to put several layers of it on top of each other, forming a pack, and cut out several segments at once.
The segments are first glued together with “boats”. Then these “boats” need to be glued to one another. Before sealing the last seam, turn the structure out so that it has the shape of a ball.
The base of the ball is held together with glued strips of paper and twine - this design will hold the ball when heated.
Cover the top of the dome with a circle of the same tissue paper.
After the glue has dried, straighten the dome by holding it over a blowtorch.
A basket for special cargo can be attached to the structure using the same string.

To launch the ball, turn on the burner or light a fire, hold your ball over the heat source without letting go of the string. Once the air inside your homemade aeronautic device has warmed up, it can be released into flight.

Thus, you can make a balloon with a basket with your own hands at home. But passenger balloons can only be purchased or rented.

So, how to make a balloon with your own hands. For work we will need the following materials:

beach ball for water games - medium size;
thick rope;
hot glue gun;
scotch tape or insulating tape;
plastic flower pot or bucket;
red acrylic paint.

Having prepared all the above materials, we begin to work. Inflate a beach ball.

Now take a plastic flower pot and wrap it with thick rope, securing it with hot glue.

All we have to do is connect the pot with the ball with ropes.

Cut out four identical circles from one color, and do the same with other colors. You should end up with twelve circles of the same size.
Let's add the circles in the order we need: two circles of the same color (for example, 2 blue), then put two circles of a different color on them (for example, 2 pink), after that, for example, two blue, and repeat in the same order. Then we bend them in half. You can put a thread in the middle if the ball needs to hang.
We fasten the middle with a stapler in different places. Let's divide one semicircle into three equal parts. Apply glue diagonally to the top 1/3 of the circle.
Then we glue it to the adjacent part. Then, with a new semicircle, we will also divide it into three parts and apply glue to the lower 1/3 part and connect it to the other. And thus, with all the semicircles, alternating, gluing all sides. This is how you easily get a chic ball, created with your own hands, which you can hang on the New Year tree or decorate your room with it.
