A lot of dishes can be prepared from fish such as cod, which is why it is very popular.

Cod has a wonderful taste and is easy to prepare.

In addition, cod meat is considered a low-calorie dish. And for those who watch their shape, this is a real delicacy. This fish contains a large amount of macroelements, protein, vitamins and amino acids. It is rich in microelements and saturated fatty acids.

This fish can be baked, stewed or fried.

It goes well with vegetables, sauces and seafood, but in particular cod is truly tasty only with sour cream.

This fish itself is not very fatty, so it needs a good marinade.

When cooked with sour cream, you will get incredibly appetizing and juicy cod. And if you add mustard or herbs to the sour cream, you will simply not be able to tear yourself away from the dish.

Cod in sour cream - general principles of preparation

Do not buy severely frozen cod for cooking.

If you bought frozen cod fillets, let them thaw at room temperature.

To reduce the salt and bitterness of cod, soak it in water or milk before cooking.

To prevent the fish from turning out dry, you do not need to overcook it in the oven.

If you fry fish, keep it on the fire for no more than 10 minutes.

To ensure juicy fish, marinate it before cooking.

The fattier the sour cream you use to marinate the fish, the juicier the dish will be.

To better soak the fish in the marinade, make cuts on it.

Seafood dishes are rich in vitamins, minerals, phosphorus and other microelements, which is why it is so important to eat fish at least twice in seven days. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to feast on salmon or lobster often, so many people prefer a more affordable representative of the marine fauna - cod.

How to cook

Before baking fish, it must first be prepared: cleaned, gutted, cut. The main advantage of the fish is its small scales, which can be quickly and easily removed with even a slightly sharpened knife. Many stores sell already prepared fillets, but this product is a little more expensive than whole fish. There is no need to remove the skin before cooking cod in the oven, as it contains vitamins and tasty juice. Remove the spinal bone from the back and divide the carcass into two equal fillets.

How long to bake

All novice cooks need to know how long to bake cod in the oven. This is a very important point, because insufficient time will not allow the heat to penetrate to the middle of the fillet, and if you overcook the fish, it will become dry and tasteless. In order not to miss a moment, use a timer on the oven or even a regular clock. The optimal baking time is 30-35 minutes, and if the fish is whole, you can add another 5-10 minutes.

Recipe

The list of cod dishes that most housewives use is scanty, but almost anything can be prepared from this fish. The secret is simple - the use of auxiliary provisions (vegetables, eggs, cheese, other dairy products) and spices that will complete the already unsurpassed taste of Atlantic fish. Cooking features

Cod baked in the oven in sour cream can turn out too dry and bland only if the recipe and cooking technology are violated. Knowing how to bake it correctly, you will never encounter such a situation.

  • The fresher the cod and the less frozen it is, the juicier the dish made from it. Therefore, when choosing a product, you should pay attention to the date of manufacture and the thickness of the ice glaze.
  • Thaw cod at room temperature. This will take a lot of time, but in the end you will get a more juicy dish than cod defrosted in the microwave.
  • To reduce the content of certain mineral salts in fish, which in large quantities are not very healthy and can give the dish a bitter taste, the thawed carcass can be placed in milk for an hour or two. However, there is no great need for this.
  • Even if you do everything correctly, but overcook the fish in the oven, it will end up tough and dry. Therefore, the cooking time indicated in the recipe should not be exceeded.
  • Cod is not a very oily fish, so with sour cream it turns out especially tasty. Moreover, the fattier the sour cream, the tastier and more tender the baked cod will be. It will be even better if you marinate the fish before cooking.
